It's driving me crazy! I can't take it anymore! The waiting is killing me! Is she EVER going to make a new solo album?
For me, she finally did. It's called Trouble In Shangri-La. After all these years of only liking three songs on this CD I decided I needed new music from her and a few weeks ago I popped it into my cd player and strangely enough I love absolutely every song on this record now. It only took eight years. Even the songs I totally despised( I won't say which ones) I really, honestly can say, I love all of 'em now.
Can you write this for me? He said, "no, you write your songs yourself!"

As Christine did with touring, Stevie has retired from studio recording.

Glad to hear you are now hallucinating in order to assuage your anguish over not having any new Stevie music.
By the way, you've gotta check out the "new" Fleetwood Mac album. I think it's called Tusk... I think you'll really like it. It's kinda different though...

I didn't like TISL either for the first couple of years. I thought it was tuneless and droning. I actually think TFFT was one of the only songs I enjoyed. Then, I listened to it more a couple of years down the line and suddenly thought it a masterpiece.
With Wild Heart and even OSOTM, I loved them immediately, the first time I played them.

Unless you become excited about The Soundstage Sessions, and the deluxe edition CD/DVD, than the answer is probably no. Technically, it is a "new" album, but just not in the conventional way ala a studio record. And if you want something new new, than Crash and Circle Dance should be pretty satisfying for a little while.

I wish everyone was as optimistic as you, but people are so quick to write her off.
I don't remember her ever announcing her "retirement" from studio recording...because she never did. I for one am glad that she's taking other avenues and roles, including this new live record, and wearing the producer's hat for Vanessa's record in 2007, and being influential and supportive of other female artists of different genres (Mary J. Blige, Michelle Branch, Mariah Carey, etc...).

It's not an issue of writing her off. She still performs, which is great. But recording solo albums is no longer a priority at this stage of her career. I don't think she ever really liked being in the studio in the first place. I don't doubt we may get a track or two from a FM or some charity project. I just don't see a new solo album in the near future. There doesn't seem to be enough incentive.

Thats because she still seems to have it built up in her head that "recording a new album" is = to years and hours and hours in the studio. Stevie its 2009, joe shmo, can record an album in ten minutes in his basement.
ALSO
She needs to have a GOOD experience with the internet. She has NO IDEA how much money shed make it shed even upload ONE new song on like:rolleyes: the nixfix:rolleyes: and charge $1.00 for the song. I think shed be pleasantly surprized how
"Successful" it would be. I love her and cherish her music, but THIS is the kinnda crap that keeps me endlessly frustrated as far as Stevie goes. Im thrilled shes still going, but, nearly a decade is a long time to wait for new songs. At least the soundstage sessions cd will keep me satisfied for a little while.

She may record with FM again, but I don't think she's interested in recording solo. I think if she does it will more than likely be something she wants to do (like the standards or the remakes) and not something that would be considered a commercial thing ... sort of what LB did with his UTS cd. At least, I would hope if she did another solo cd it would be 100% a project she wanted to do and that she wouldn't worry about the commercial success...because honestly I don't think the radio play and promotion would really be there for her at this stage in her life.

That has to be one of my favorite cds... ever. I love it! I love every song. Totally feels like she found my journals, or old love letters and put them to music.

Yea, that's so true. Today i heard Rhiannon on the radio (1975 version), and i thought they could just as easily play the CV version to showcase her voice now and how much the song has evolved, but unfortunately, classic rock stations aren't interested in that.

Stevie seems pretty burnt out on the whole studio thing at this point. If Say You Will was really that awful(which I don't think it was)I can understand why she wouldn't want to record with the Mac, but the whole solo thing is totally different. She's not with Lindsey so that should alleviate some drama. And she can do whatever she wants at this point--not like she is hurting financially. I think the big hold-up is that she still thinks that anything she puts out with the Mac or solo is going to be Rumours or Bella Donna. If she can get over the commercial success aspect of a new album I think we would have new music. Who knows? Maybe she will come around......or not. Either way I will still put on my Tusk LP and reminisce fondly on days gone by...
Just watched the video of her US festival appearance and though she seems a bit out of it - she looks absolutly stunning.
It also reminds me of how amazingly talented she is
Those of you who are slagging her off - remember that she is a Superstat and will record some more amazing music - she just needs time that is all. When her days of touring are over - she will record the most fantastic music and we will all be posting on these message boards about how wonderful she is again!

Stevie has said she wants to do around three or four different projects.....it's just a matter of buckling down and DOING them!!!
As far as radio support goes......it ain't going to happen!!! Radio doesn't support ANYONE over thirty nowadays, and that's even pushing it!

From her various statements, I never got that she was tired of working in the studio. I think it was the fact that with all the time and money invested in making an album, she feels that lower sales/returns don't warrent the effort. Recall that she hasn't had breakout single for a very long time now! I also believe there may be a bit of dismay and frustration about the state of the music business as it is now -- a very different world compared to what she was accustomed to in the 1970s and 80s.
She is a living legend at this point. There is really no reason for her to expect to compete with more contempary artists. She could do so much more on a smaller scale with less expectations.

She has SO MUCH music that she never officially recorded that she could just put them on a CD ...nothing really "new" just unofficially released stuff...we've all heard the songs..plus I'm sure hundreds we haven't heard. "She Still Loves Him" is one of her best songs I feel she has ever written..i can't imagine this in it's final state....and let's face it...Stevie could sing the ABC's and people would buy it.. i know i would. i would rather her NOT do "new" stuff..I'm going out a limb here in this forum...but her voice lacks the range and has become VERY nasaly..TISL???? God the entire record sounds like she had a horrible sinus infection...i listened to that album once and shelfed it...BD, TWH, RAL,TOSOTM, 2 new songs on TS, and SA @ least SOUNDED like Stevie Nicks...TISL sounds like someone i don't even know...don't get me wrong the songs SHE wrote...typical Stevie writing..brilliant..I am only speaking of her singing voice..and another honest thing....(I'm gonna get hate mail) Cheryl Crow did NOTHING for that recording...I'm ready...lay it on me..this is said w/o hostility. I love and respect Stevie beyond words...i just want to stir things up a bit :-)

Are you talking about "She Loves Him Still?" The song she added lyrics to Mark Knopfler's melody? If so, we'll never see it.....Mark has made it VERY clear to Stevie that he would sue her if she ever released it. According to him, his instrumentals "are meant to stay instrumentals."
But I agree.....it's one of the most beautiful songs she's ever come up with!
On a TOTALLY different note.....I LOVED TISL.....for me, it's one of Stevie's top two or three albums! And I DID like Sheryl's work on it...would like to see them work together again (after Stevie works with Rick Rubin, Bill Bottrell and/or John Leventhal first, though!!!).

i stand corrected..yes, "She Loves Him Still" is the correct title of the song...BUT U GOTTA give me the scoop on the mark knopfler connection there.. i have never heard this...it's huge.. i just listened to it and it sounds nothing like a mark knopfler melody at all..i'm not saying i don't believe you..it's completely believable it just is blowing me away. can this be found anyewhere in instrumental form from mark? and regarding the tisl thing...i'm glad u liked it....i just prefer her more spacey abstract lyric and song writing..hence the older stuff where she was on another planet just appeals to me more..but to u.. i dedicate "everyday' the best song on the album along w/"I miss you" ...in second place..u know what?? the title song TISL...is also a good one..thanks agian 4 ur input on this..hope u f/u w/the knopfler thing..i'm going to google this right now.

I'm the complete opposite of anything resembling a fan of Sheryl Crow, but Stevie's cover of "It's Only Love" has always been one of the album's high points (and I love the album too).

Uh huh. Just as I suspected: you wuv her.
No, I really like her "Sheryl Crow" album. I don't have Detours but I have the other albums. To tell the truth, her personality gets on my nerves more than her music does. While I'm not that into If You Ever Did Believe, her Crystal is fine. And I don't have any objection to her production work on TISL. Visually, the Sorcerer video is as hot as anyone could desire.

I think it's her most varied, mature work to date.
As for "Diamond Ring"......it's not my favorite track, but I appreciate the rawness....she's singing from her heart and gut here!
For me, the top tracks are "Peace Be Upon Us" (love the groove!), "Motivation" (love the humor!), "Love Is Free" (love the melody!) and "Since You're Gone" (just love it! I could REALLY see Bonnie Raitt covering this song!)

The song was originally on the LOCAL HERO soundtrack.....been so long since I heard it, I forget the actual track, but you can hear it.
Anyway, Stevie heard the soundtrack, loved it, and fell for this one song in particular. She added lyrics to it, hoping they might do it as a duet. Stevie passed it on to Mark's people.....and basically got a cease and desist!
This story came straight from Paul Fishkin's lips, so I have no reason to doubt it. If I remember correctly, I think Stevie may have also alluded to it in one of her interviews with Jim Ladd.

Wow, how funny is that? Since today everyone I've met (who knew Stevie) totally loved TISL and called it "the best she's ever done". And I was never happy with the record. But yesterday I found myself listening to it all day...it was incredible. I had it still in my ear as I woke up this morning and everyone around me is annoyed cause I can't really stop singing one of those fantastic songs:D But still I think there's too much Sheryl on the album.

I certainly hope we'll get a new solo album from her eventually! I think part of it is, as she has mentioned in numerous interviews, she's concerned that fans don't want to hear new songs when she's touring. Which is partially true of those who may not be diehard Stevie fans; when I saw Stevie this past fall, there was a woman standing behind me and she said she couldn't wait to hear Rhiannon and Dreams and really hoped she would stick to the "old stuff" and not try to throw any new stuff at us.
While I of course love her old stuff, I personally would love to hear something new! She's so talented and I think she has so much more to continue to give. And I think it's important that fans are accepting of her new material if we want her to keep touring; I would imagine it would get pretty old to go on touring singing the exact same songs over and over. Fingers crossed for something new soon! :)
