I'm going to Miami and Vegas at the end of march, with my father (77) and aunt (82). This travel is basically for her, since she wants to go to Miami maybe for her last time, it's her desire, this was her favorite city. But also Las Vegas cause she loves to see nice hotels, shows, etc. She is very special to me so I want to give her this special gift.
She is 82 but all her life has had panic on electric stairs. Does anybody knows if the upper crosswalks have also elevators? I hope so. I was there 5 years ago, can't remember cause obviously I used the stairs on the crosswalks near Excalibur-MGM, Flamingo-Caesar, Treasure Island- Venetian, etc..
We will stay at Mirage.

VERYNICE gift for your father and aunt.
I don't recall if there are elevators outside/near escalators. To avoid escalators, go inside the casino/hotel and use the elevator.
Also, keep an eye out for moving walkways (connecting Luxor and Excalibur, for example), trams/monorails (connecting Excalibur and Mandalay Bay, with a stop at Luxor; TI is connected to the Mirage; MGM has one that goes all the way to Bally's.) Taxis are plentiful although the cost can add up -- from one end of the strip to the other about $10 or so dependant upon traffic, etc.
Quoted below is info on monorails/trams and here is a system map <u><strong>monorail/tram map</strong></u> (http://www.vegas.com/transportation/monorails.html)
Navigate the Las Vegas Strip with the help of three monorails that run between Sahara and the MGM Grand, Treasure Island and the Mirage, and Excalibur and Mandalay Bay (with a stop at the Luxor).
Mirage-Treasure Island Tram
The Mirage-Treasure Island tram runs between 9 a.m. - 1 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. - 3 a.m., Friday through Saturday. The tram arrives just about every 15 minutes and the ride lasts about two to four minutes.
The Mirage stop of this monorail is outside but well shaded with a misting system, and located just to the left of the hotel's front entrance. At Treasure Island, passengers wait indoors in a corridor located near the entrance to the parking garage. Those waiting for the tram stand behind automatic gates. Because the automatic gates tend to open almost as soon as the tram arrives, it is best to allow everyone on the tram a chance to disembark first before getting on.The waiting areas, as well as the tram itself, have televisions playing ads that feature TI and Mirage shows and attractions.
The track is set back from the Strip and the ride is smooth, passing palm trees and vegetation. It also offers a nice aerial view of the TI pool on the west side. Seating is bus-style, with long benches and some standing room.
Las Vegas Monorail (MGM Grand to Sahara)
The Las Vegas Monorail runs from the MGM Grand to the Sahara hotel. The route has seven stations: MGM Grand, Bally's / Paris, Flamingo, Harrah's / Imperial Palace, Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas Hilton and the Sahara. The monorail is open Monday - Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. and Friday - Sunday, 7 a.m. - 3 a.m. Rates for the monorail are $5 for one ride, $12 for an unlimited one-day pass for one person and $28 for an unlimited three-day pass for one person.
Mandalay Bay-Excalibur Tram
This monorail's route varies based on what hotel you start at. If you start at the Excalibur main station, the monorail will take you directly to Mandalay Bay - about a 3-minutes trip. If you start from Mandalay Bay, you will stop at the Luxor and then the Excalibur - about a 7-minutes trip. It is in operation 24 hours a day, and trains leave every 3-7 minutes.
All waiting areas are indoor except the Luxor's, but some walking is required to make the loop (there are stairs as well as an elevator to access the tram stop). Fortunately, everything is well air-conditioned. Small platforms and a lack of any attendants at the Mandalay Bay end mean you may have to scramble to a car when traffic is heavy, but even a holiday weekend crowd can be accommodated once the initial rush for a seat dies down.
Although it's a little more complicated to make this loop, the profusion of stations has some advantages: The Main Station is convenient to a free pull on a slot machine with a $5,000 payoff (though it gives out many more free show tickets), and the Luxor's is the only monorail stop with music for waiting passengers.
And, finally, here is a link to view bus/trolley system (http://lasvegas4newbies.com/chap4-4.html). Note, they say bus usually packed and trolley slow (e.g. NOT an ideal mode of transportation.)
If you have never been to Vegas you may want to check out this newbie site (http://www.lasvegas4newbies.com/home.html) and familiarize yourself with this section Porn Pamphlets and Smut Peddlers (http://lasvegas4newbies.com/chap4-2.html)
Perhaps someone from the Vegas area can provide additional tips for you...hope so.
Enjoy :wavey:

I go to Las Vegas somewhat frequently and always stay at Treasure Island (right next door to Mirage), so I'm especially familiar with that area. All of the crosswalks around Mirage/Treasure Island (the TI-Venetian, TI-Fashion Show Mall, and Fashion Show Mall-Wynn, and Wynn-Palazzo) have elevator access.
I'm racking my brain, and I can't think of any over-the-road crosswalk that doesn't have an elevator providing access on both sides. Although, be prepared, because the elevators can often be out of service.
