View Full Version : Stevie and Lindsey....Unfinished Business?

Stevie says she agreed to hit the road with Lindsey and risk opening up old wounds again because she sensed a change in her old sparing partner. "He has little girls who are 8 and 4 years old, plus a wife, and he has been living in girl land since coming off the road in 2005. It's softened him up. Instead of treating me as a miserable ex-girlfriend, he's looking at me more like a beloved daughter. He's been very nice and loving to me. This is the guy that I met and fell in love with when I was 17, and I hope it stays that way. No one could come in and make peace between us. Lindsey and I had to."
Lindsey said, "We all want this to work, but there are only 45 dates scheduled. I'm sure there are people in back rooms somewhere talking about more dates in America and elsewhere in the world, but nothing is in the books, nothing has been agreed to. In this band, it's best not to plan too far in advance."

Stevie fell in love with him at the age of 17?
Lindsey looking at Stevie like a daughter?
Lindsey living in "girl land"?
Maybe Will can slap some sense back into him.

WELL...
Buckingham says if they pull off the tour without any meltdowns, there may be yet one more Fleetwood Mac studio album down the road. But he makes no promises. He has left the band in the past, and he says he will again if he feels things are growing stagnant.
Sounds like The Man is letting The Little Girl In Love know she better watch her Ps and Qs

If they will make a new album, what I hope, it might be based again on LB's solo material.
And that pic is the purest "we were together but we f*cked it up a bit"-pic you can find. ;)

Just the usual wary ambivalence, but we still want to do music together vibe.

NOT AT ALL. In studies of body language, they would tell you that her's is a timid and defensive stance. She has her arms crossed, and is "holding her center". Protecting her self from his judging stare and aggressive posture.
I do love it though. It is beautiful, in its own way...

None of us REALLY know what goes on between them. Both talented and had a goal.
Probably a hot sex life , a love for each other and their careers but drugs and fame /ego/ money distorted the relationship????
I just hope Chain keeps them together for another hot cd!

Boston Herald Interview (http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showpost.php?p=803116&postcount=1)
BH: So much of your great stuff came out of the band being a mess. If you are all on great terms will it be harder to make a great album?
SN: No. Lindsey and I and our tragic, uptight way of doing things to each other is still the same in so many ways. In many, many ways, Lindsey and I are still the same people that we were when we met at 16 and 17. There’s a part of our relationship that remains unchanged. It doesn’t matter that he’s married with kids. It doesn’t matter what my life is. When we’re together we can still be incredibly teenage. And we still write about each other a lot. We’re still great sources of inspiration for each other. When we’re 90, whoever goes first, the other one will be sitting on a bed alone. We’ll never run out of stuff to write about.

I may be speaking too soon, but I can not get over how cute LB and Stevie look together on this tour. There's something sweeter in the way they are with each other, especially Lindsey, that I don't think I really noticed before. In fact, I'm pretty sure I felt that SYW was more staged and prepared whereas now it seems a lot more genuine. And I can't lie, I'm no shipper, but they are the cutest older couple, if it were only true. They just...match. One of my girlfriends was over and I showed her a few pics, since she's seeing them in concert with me, and she thought they were a couple.

I agree - they do have that "aura" about them. It's noticeable in the video interviews too. Sorta like what Stevie said on the Chris Isaak show - how by the end of the summer she and Lindsey together were a "combined millionaire"... lol ... just two peas in a very odd pod...

He does that ALL THE TIME!
He references "dreams" as much as she does. One that jumped out at me immediately was his use of "full of grace" on his new album. He has obviously heard Fall From Grace,. He also used the line "parallel lives" and Stevie has said that about their relationship in interviews more than once. She uses "shadows" all the time and he refers to her as the "shadow singer". They both write about "walls" and how in recent years the walls have come down.
The imagery he uses is so consistent with hers it is spooky. When he used "black angel" in Love Runs Deeper , I was floored. It is so "Steviesque".

I don't think she has. Actually, Lindsey has talked about he and Chris developing musically on parallel lines more than once.
He said: She and I have a real valid kind of rapport between us, something that was there before we even met. It's like she can play the piano and I can play the guitar just wonderfully along with her. It's almost like parallel lines during our formative years of music until we met, and it gave us a lot of common ground."
So, when he said parallel lines in LRD, that's what I thought of.
But yes, I think of Stevie when I hear black angel can't stand to be alone.

My favorite is when she says, "you've shaken my faith in everything else" and in CAD he says, "Magic one, all our dreams are done. I have no faith today."
Basically, to me the lyric says, it looks like we've hit the end of the line, because this baby deserves a full time father and to grow up in the type of family I had. So, I have no faith today. That is, I have no hope for our love any more.

The 'parallel lines' made me think of LB's Soundstage when Stevie sang that piece of "Frozen Love". He sort of drew parallel lines out with his finger and thumb, telling her: "Those were some great two part harmony parts that we did."
In music, there is a term called: "parallel harmony", described as " harmony lines that go in the same direction as the melody"...
That's what that line made me think of.

I think of two people taking different paths and directions and still always arriving at the same place. It's like you separate yourselves or life separates you, but destiny keeps you joined and even when you're apart, maybe you're feeling the same thing and still sharing the same bond.
The Treason lyrics are so beautiful because they are searching for each other. He's walking around garden walls (RTTG?) searching for the other person and that person is in the ocean searching for him. Apart, but concerted action. The "full of grace" reminded me of EOTW.

totally random
but that quote is one of my faves
HOW can she be confused
the parallel lines line
i always took to mean, both of them were always going on a journey together; tour wise, musically, whatever...like train tracks. but that end point, happiness, marriage, perfect harmony with one another in/out of a relationship - the station - was/is never going to happen
or maybe it's just Mama's overwhelming stage presence and Lindsey in the background being a crazy genius :D

Yeah, I love that too and in the rehearsal on Crystal Visions, it was almost like I could imagine hearing a "go your OWN way" in there. But I suppose it was just fancy, because she drew out the word "your."
