View Full Version : Are They Rehearsing Yet? Where?

I thought I read that the 'Unleashed' rehearsals ( sorry -- the word 'Unleashed' still cracks me up) -- anyway, that they were going to start rehearsals in January -- ?

Does anyone know where?

If only some teeny little listening device were to find its way in, we'd know what songs are being 'unleashed'...;)

One of the local AM Chicago radio stations is broadcasting from Hawaii this week. They had Mick on yesterday. So, maybe Hawaii? In one respect, I would not be surprised since Mick, John and Stevie spend a lot of time there. At the same time, it would kind of surprise me. I'd think that LB would want to be in California.

And no, I didn't hear the interview, so I don't have any info on what was discussed.

Thanks for the info! I have to say, Hawaii would be a really hard place to take 'work' (i.e., rehearsals) seriously -- it's a much better place for having a few Bahama Mamas and forgetting all about 'work.' :)

It's all Mai Tai's and Yahtzee...

Funny you mentioned this -- a video of this radio show just showed up on youtube. Rick Vito was interviewed on location, but when they talked to Mick, it was via telephone -- so Mick might not have actually been in Hawaii. It might still be more likely the Mac members are practicing in LA. Neither said anything about the Unleashed tour. Rick was plugging the Blues band and the Island band, and Mick was plugging his wines.

It's here, if anyone wants to see it. The interview with Rick (hiding behind his shades  ) starts at about 4:15, and Mick immediately after that. Seems strange that Mick wasn't hyping the tour.

edit -- okay, the link doesn't seem to work. I've got a real block with my youtube-posting skills.
Just look for "Roe-Conn Show: A-Roe-Ha."

IT was my understanding that Stevie said that they would be rehearsing in Pennsylvania... I am almost certain i read or heard that somewhere...

They are rehearsing in LA, Jana Anderson has said so on her website.

Does anyone think they'll have a new stage design?

Thanks for the updates, guys! I'm glad you mentioned Jana's website -- much info there -- so Jana's definitely on the tour, which means, I suppose, Lori and Sharon too.

A new stage design would be nice. Any updating of the 'FM experience' would be nice. Re-work some of those 'greatest hits' in fresh and unexpected ways. Sneak in some lesser-known songs. I'd love to see/hear some surprises. (Well, the good kind of surprises!)

You know, if they really wanted to unleash themselves, they'd drop the backups.

Just saying...

Well supposedly Mick is the only percussion on the tour...I believe Neale Heywood, Bret Tuggle, Sharon and Jana will be it.

I agree. They've got too much extra stuff going on. I can see the need for a keyboard player and background vocalists but that should be it. It would also cut about 1/2 hour off of Mick's intros!!:laugh:

Not always, remember Taku Hirano in the SYW tour
And Ashante in the Tango tour

unless this time they have decided to do it only with Mick, I didn't read about it.

I always thought Mick welcomed a percussion community along side him.
So it is rather odd that has been eliminated. I agree with Regina....I like the backup singers in a Stevie solo show setting but not with Fleetwood Mac. JMHO.

I think the background singers have their place....oohh's and ahhh's and SUBTLE backing vocals on certain songs but it really gets me when you have backing singers on GYOW, The Chain, Tusk etc. Songs that need to be loud and rocking don't really have a place for the backing vocalists that the Mac employs. Plus it just seemed like they were too much in the mix on any SYW show I heard...too loud and too intrusive.

I agree. Though, I liked them on Beautiful Child. The way they layered the verses. Singing different things, intensifying the emotion. The arrangement was impressive.

I tend to believe that Walfredo was misinformed about the percussion.

Can't imagine them doing a tour without any additional percussion to go along with Mick. So much would be missing from various songs. Things that just one guy on the drums can't do. Although I am a Mick fanatic (taught myself to play drums using almost nothing but FM songs and copying Mick's style until I knew what I was doing, but still the "Mickness" of my drumming remains!) I know he can't do it all alone on percussion!!

Asante from the "Tango" and "BTM" tours would be awesome, and much closer to Mick's original percussion roots. Seeing them do a combo drum/percussion solo in the middle of some song would be fantastic!! As I've said in previous posts, I'm open to suggestions about where that drum solo could take place if it were not to be during "World Turning". (Honestly I don't understand the ferocity of some who want "WT" out of the set. Are they just bored with it or is it some kind of "we're done with Mick" kind of thing? It's odd.)

As long as whomever they get to do percussion is high quality (can't imagine they'd pick someone that wasn't) then I'd be satisfied.

I think its just a sad fact that she really needs them at this stage. I love Stevie, I love her deep, rich, soulful voice. But she's over 60, and unfortunately, to alot of peoples heartbreak, cant hold the original melody lines we all know, especially for songs such as Rhiannon, Gypsy, etc. So as much as it'll be some bit annoying to have the three girls in the background for everything, I think they are a neccesity for Stevie's songs... that's just what I think though!

I agree--Mick is always seen wearing arms splints these days. He might have carpal tunnel syndrome. Even on The Dance he had plenty of back up, more so on the Say You Will tour.

Without Christine's voice to take the edges off and add some harmony, they still need back up for quite a few of their songs.
