Good God, if you've got "good seats" you're spending around $3,500 to go see them! And you're paying to see 20 of the same ad libbed identical shows... ouch. How in the world do you get off work that much to chase the band around? I'd have to find a better way to spend my hard earned money. Don't get me wrong... I love the band like everyone else... but seing them more than a couple of times in a tour just doesn't add up in my head, heart, or wallet.

To tell you all the truth, I don't know if I'll be going. I just haven't gotten terribly excited about this tour. I'm in one of those modes when I don't listen to the Mac ALLLL that much ( I know you all know what I'm talking about) and the 150 dollar ticket price is very unattractive to me..... So I really just don't know. On top of that, I'm finally back at school and really enjoying life, so I may not even be seeing them at all.

Is this crazy of me?

I think it's awesome! Anyone who has paid attention to this website knows that David always has stories and adventures along the way. And with the cheap seats, he's seeing 20 shows for the same price I get to see only two. I'd probably do the same thing as him, but I HATE traveling... but if u do enjoy the journey as much as the destination (as it goes), then what better excuse to travel around than follow the Mac??? Honestly, it's about the only thing that could get me to do all that. So I, for one, look forward to David's tales. And am glad the Mac have given him an excuse for a vacay!

If I had the funds this year I would go to a couple more shows but I am glad to be going just to the one in NYC. I don't buy the crazy packages and stuff but I can be a bit of a ticket brat when it comes to where I sit, this year I compromised a bit....they aren't like I am used to but they aren't bad either. In David's defense, what he is doing is nothing I haven't seen before. Every band/artist has a devoted following that thinks nothing of seeing twenty or more shows a tour. As long as he isn't stalking the MAC, and acting wack thinking that he's their best bud, then what's the harm? At least he's not hanging out at their hotel hoping to hook up.

Far more questionable behavior is exhibited now days by thirty-something women camped out in hotel lobbies or bars trying to hook-up with some married rock star twice their age after the show. That is disturbing. GAWD! And, the sad thing is they don't care who the star is or if he is married or not. The fact is, the more minor the star, the more young women flock his way. I guess they think he's at least get-able.

This past New Year's Eve, I met 3 middle-aged married women who had left their husbands and children at home and separately traveled thousands of miles from their homes to hang out with complete strangers in a motel bar along an interstate highway in SoCal in hopes that Rick Springfield would show up after his show at a local casino. They were fans who met either at the show or through his chat forum.

The guy is sixty years old and has been married to the same woman for almost thirty years. They were in their late thirties, maybe early forties and had heard that "he played around." When I asked them why they weren't at home celebrating with their significant others and family, they said because they were "exercising their independence." Independence my behind! All I know is that, when I was their age and married, I spent the holidays, especially New Years Eve with my husband not complete strangers in some flea-bag motel bar trying to feel like "an insider."

But that's just my two cents. Rock on David!:wavey:

My apologies... I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I guess I'm just flabbergasted that anyone would feel the need to see them that many times during this tour. I saw them 3 times during the SYW tour, and I think it was 1 too many (and that was stretched out over more than a year period). The same scripted dialogues and performances show after show just got me down I suppose. I guess with the Mac's predictability these days, I just can't justify seeing them that many times. Back in their drug fueled heyday, you truly never knew what they were gonna do. But in this day and age... it's the same sh!t, different day. More power to ya though, truly... May 20 Oracle arena in Oakland ..but only if they play at least one of the two songs above or Storms..which is highly doubtful since they are doing yet another Rumours rehash instead of making the braver more inspired choice by celebrating Tusk in the year of it's 30th anniversary.

"...found a ticket stub at my moms for the first time I saw fleetwood mac in a college auditorium in 1976...cost ? $5...pretty funny..."
"..I saw them again in Santa Barbara at an outdoor arena in 1978, then I saw Buckingham solo here in Seattle two years ago...He is unbeliveably amazing solo. Cannot wait!"

I became a Mac fan when Tango was released, so that's 22 years ago. I have only seen them in 2004 here in Melbourne and Stevie 3 times in 2006 in Australia (included a double handshake during her edge walk!), so this trip is a big deal to me and I hope to see some of you in May.

I hope Chrissie Hynde's attitude rubs off on Fleetwood Mac (well, Stevie) soon:

‘I can’t do that greatest hits stuff anymore,’ says the Pretenders singer

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28879725/

It's time for Fleetwood Mac to "break up the concrete" as well.

LOS ANGELES - Not too long ago, Chrissie Hynde was still touring behind the same hits that have made her husky, vibrato-steeped voice one of the most memorable in rock ’n’ roll.

Now the Pretenders’ frontwoman is revving up to launch a U.S. tour Thursday in support of “Break Up the Concrete,” the group’s first studio album in six years. While she may sing classics like “Brass in Pocket,” newer tunes will fill the bulk of her repertoire.

“We’ll be doing about eight or nine songs from the album. There’s the chance of people going to the bar when you launch into a new song, but I can’t do that greatest hits stuff anymore. We can play practically the whole album, and some of the rockers,” Hynde, 57, said in a phone interview from London, her main home since the 1970s.

The Pretenders’ new album, released last fall, is an Americana ode to love, loneliness and Hynde’s hometown of Akron, Ohio, where the longtime animal rights activist opened a vegan restaurant and bar in 2007. It was recorded for movie producer Steve Bing’s fledgling label Shangri-La Music.

Bing swept in during a down time for the band, when the group was label-less. He and Hynde connected during a Pretenders tour with ZZ Top.

“I said to Steve, ‘We don’t have a record deal and we don’t have a producer,’” said Hynde. “Steve said, ‘You’ve been doing this for 25 years, you don’t need a producer.’ No one had ever told me that before. I thought, ‘Let’s get this going!’”

Later, he pulled in legendary session drummer Jim Keltner — whose credits include playing with John Lennon — to work on the record (regular drummer Martin Chambers returns for the tour).

Hey, ho, way to go Ohio

Though the album was recorded in 12 days in Los Angeles,* much of it is informed by Akron. She acquired an apartment there to be closer to her aging parents and rediscovered the city after years away, from brisk autumn weather to local animal sanctuaries and her old record collection.

The title song, a jumping rockabilly tune, refers to the “red brick road where I grew up on” in Akron being “gone gone gone.” Numbers such as “Don’t Lose Faith In Me” have a country-ballad twang, filled with vulnerability: “The artist on the cover/ Is a phony and a crook/ I’m looking for you lover/ Show me where to look.”

“I’m referring to myself in that line,” Hynde said. “I get sometimes angry with myself. Sometimes I find myself saying, ‘You ... phony.’ It goes like that until you crack it. It can be a torturous process.”

Hynde said her songwriting process after decades of music is much the same.

“It’s me alone with the guitar and a notebook. I don’t use too many gadgets. My methods haven’t changed,” she said.

As for the future, Hynde remains thankful that “I’m doing what I want to do.”

“Some people can get all their realizations in one place, being in the same town,” she said. “Some people have to move all the time. I feel more comfortable moving all the time. I wish I could stay still. But that’s how bands usually are.”

*12 days. Imagine.

I was just thinking of you the other night - I uploaded your Chicago 2008 photos to BN.net (http://www.buckinghamnicks.net), and I realized that the last photos I'd uploaded to that site were your Chicago 2005 photos. It'd been THAT long... I just thought it was kind of a nice, organic cycle. ;)

Carol-Lynn: No trips to California for me in sight, but who knows what the future may bring? ;)

So are many people here - we can't get that amount of time off from our jobs. Didn't Arby's let you take tons of time off too? It's just amazing to me that these places would let you do this, esp. with such a bad economy - there are tons of people looking for work, you'd think they'd just say "OK, see ya!" and hire someone else in your place. You're very lucky David.

Word on that bird.

Please take the off-topic banter somewhere else. This thread is for people to discuss what shows they are going to.

I can't recall if I posted this earlier, but I'm tentatively planning on Toronto.Thats great Paula? Which Toronto show?

They added another date on the 17th a little while ago.

I'll be at the 26th, though.

I want to go to the Calgary and/or Edmonton show, but my parents are being UNREASONABLE AS FARK.:mad: It's ironic how they can miss work for various things, but when I want to go to the concert of my favourite band of all time, they won't let me. Seriously, I can't express how mad I am right now.

Edgeof27, since you started this thread ;), are you going to post a consolidated list of shows with ledgie assistants? Tell us when, or post it in a special thread to easily look for. This was a great idea.

We can also tell later what we will be wearing. I thought in Fleetwood Mac t-shirts, but I guess a lot of people will be. -maybe I'll wear a peruvian them t-shirt (or sweat shirt?)

Anaheim, CA!
May 23rd!

Exactly two years since Stevie's Crystal Visions concert in Chula Vista, which I went to!
I love it!

And Stevie better sing Sisters of the Moon, Angel, or Storms.

OK, so which is it, David? Seriously, I knew I read 4/17 somewhere. Either way, the dates being that far apart is really odd to me. I know they're replacing ALbany with Toronto, but it makes little sense - the cities are nowhere near eachother. It's not like people in Albany are going to say "no biggie, we'll head to Toronto that day." Maybe the first Toronto show sold really well? Wait, I guess it's the second show now.

Yeah??? Are we combining these names and shows for a roster type deal??? And are we gonna post seperate review threads or what are we gonna do about reviews of the shows? Is there a particular spot here for that?

Not that it's good for Albany area fans, but it's only 3 hours? from Rochester which is the night before, thus providing a short transport for the band equipment, plus the March 26th date sold well.
