View Full Version : Steelers-Cardinals Super Bowl
Who do you want to win? Not necessarily who you think will win, but who you would like to win (We all know who will really win!).

Do we? The line doesn't reflect one team being a huge favorite. Both teams have looked great in the playoffs.

It would be cool to see Arizona win for the first time in over 60 years, but Pitt's coach is a cool guy, and it might be cool to see him get a win.... I can't really decide. Plus, I have a problem with Big Ben and his attitude problem..... so I can't decide.

Woah.... Ben's the one with the attitude problem? I've heardvthat about the cardinals' QB having problems, but Ben seems fine. Maybe I'm biased 'cause I live here. But isn't it weird that pgh in this superbowl and XL played first time teams, each from the west, each bird teams, and won both times (oh, wait...)

Since the Dolphins didn't make it in, I'll be pulling for the Cardinals.
since my Eagles disappointed me yet again, I must go with the other PA team & that would be Pittsburgh. And my stepdaughter's bf is a big Steelers fan & a few other people I know are big fans, so I'll root for the Steelers. I hope it's a good game though & the Cardinals put up a little fight, but I think they are going down!

Ever since Big Ben so firmly refused to wear a helmet when his coach asked, for his own safety, I've had to rethink him over. He's an excellent athlete, but such a blatant regard to safety isn't cool.

He's also not that bright in general (his Wonderlic score will attest to that)
Then again, Kurt Warner decided to use his celebrity to attempt to dissuade people against stem cell research in the 2006 midterm elections, so I think any debate regarding the intellect of the two QB's is a wash.

All I know is Heinz Ward and Troy Polomalu are seemingly the toughest dudes in the League. It will be a great game. Im from the 'Burgh originally so GO STILLERS!
but really, if Kurt Warner would shut up about the religious stuff with a win, i could deal with a Stiller loss.....not really....

Yeah, at the end of the NFC championship game, they interviewed him, and he said "I'd like to thank Jesus!" I don't really like celebrities who bring up their religious things without being asked.
But anyway, it is crazy to see how many Pittsburgh Ledgies there are and how much love the Steelers are getting.

Agreed... I smell upset. (in the sense that everyone thinks Pitt will win)
I watched AZ vs Philly... they looked tough as nails....

Pitt is tough, but they won't be able to stop the Cards from scoring.
Kurt and his receivers are just too good. With the Edge back running
this game might not be as close as some think.
Pittsburgh now 6 1/2 point favorite

Never underestimate the Steel Curtain... but i hope you're right!
Can the Steelers beat the Cardinals? Yes we can/did.

I was kind of rooting for Pittsburgh, but didn't really care much either way. What a great game though. First Superbowl I actually paid attention to in years.

OMG, the best game I have ever seen!! My husband and I were on the southside drinking at one of the bars and when they won the place exploded. They blocked off all the streets so we could celebrate for hours. People even jumped on the buses, HA!! So much fun, I still cant believe they won.

My hubby and I don't watch football really(we like Moto GP, Rolex series, etc.), but, we just happened to turn on the game after the second half and watched. Okay, Larry Fitzgerald is a streamlined power gazelle he frickin' moves so fast... and that catch by Santonio Holmes was crazy!!! It was exciting, i must say.

Ah, American Football.
A place where washed up, out of contract Australian Rules players whose careers have been reduced to playing in semi-professional suburban leagues can go to get million dollar contracts - more than they ever made back home.
And good luck to them, too.

I'm just glad that the Super Bowls are competetive again. I remember back in the 80's and 90's it seemed like almost every Super Bowl was a total blowout that was over by the end of the 1st quarter.

As place kickers.
That's true.
But I understand Ben Graham is getting about US$75,000 a game.
The average AFL salary is about AU$200,000 a year (about US$160,000) for 22 games plus up to 4 finals. He now gets that for just 2 games - and he doesn't even play the whole game!
As captain of Geelong, Ben Graham may have made more than that while playing, but he wasn't captain, he wasn't even playing any more. Nor was Saverio Rocca or Darren Bennett before them.
I just say good for them.

Ben Graham isn't 1/10th the kicker/athlete that Darren Bennett was.

Anyone know how much the E-Street Band got paid to do the halftime show?

$0.
The opportunity/publicity is priceless.

There's people who would say Ben Graham wasn't 1/10th the Aussie Rules player that Darren Bennett was. Melbourne supporters, mostly.
It does surprise me that if 3 retired players can get place-kicking gigs that the NFL doesn't come looking for younger AFL players to recruit - the way the AFL recruits young Gaelic football players from Ireland.
Or Rugby players for that matter, which American football is more like. One of the two kinds of Rugby has place-kicking, don't ask me which.
