The year is beginning dark for entertainment people...

The 16-year-old son of actor John Travolta died Friday morning after suffering a seizure while vacationing with his family in the Bahamas, Travolta's attorney told CNN

"At this point, we know that John Travolta and Kelly Preston's only son, Jett, had a seizure at around 10 a.m. this morning," attorney Michael Ossi said. "All attempts to revive him were unsuccessful."

The cause of death is not known, Ossi said. An autopsy will be conducted Monday. His body will be transferred to Ocala, Florida, for burial, he said.

Jett's death "was completely out of the blue," he said. "John and Kelly are happy when their children are happy. This is the worst day of John's life."

The Travoltas also have a daughter, Ella, 8.

Bahamian police said a caretaker at the West End resort where the Travoltas were vacationing found the teenager unconcious in the bathroom. Jett Travolta was taken by ambulance to Rand Memorial Hospital in Freeport and was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.

Jett Travolta had a developmental disability that his parents, John Travolta and Kelly Preston, have linked to Kawasaki disease, an inflammatory disorder of the artery walls that most commonly occurs in young children and can lead to heart disease.

According to the American Heart Association, "About 80 percent of the people with Kawasaki disease are under age 5. Children over age 8 are rarely affected."

This is so sad. The latest reports are that Jett had a seizure and then hit his head on the bathtub.

Oh goodness.

That is my worst nightmare, that I might outlive either of my kids. That poor family.

That is such a tragedy. It's so scary to think that he was only the same age as I am. I can't even imagine how the parents must feel.

See, if he had only been more judicious in cleaning out the Body Thetans, he wouldn't have to deal with this engram. Of course, this now means we should all be concerned that there are now a bunch of disembodied spirits of extraterrestrials on the loose again.

Actually, get ready for the press to start hinting that this could have been avoided if the Travoltas had allowed their son to get treatments that are banned by Scientology, especially those linked with treating autism.

I think they'll do more than hint.

It's a shame all around.

This is tragic. I hate when any young person loses their life before they've really had a chance to live. People are so speculative regarding the Travoltas and their religion. And, while I really haven't got any love for the co$, I don't feel it's here or there. This family is grieving and, frankly, I don't know them or live with them. From what I saw they seemed like a very close, loving family and the boy looked relatively happy in many candid shots with his parents, so I'm not going there...I just feel so bad for them. :distress:

Oh yeah, they were starting up on it this morning. I don't agree with much of scientology, but to imply the parents may have caused his death by withholding teatment of some kind is sick. Autism & seizure disorder are 2 different things. The kid was taking antiseizure meds at one point - maybe they tried to get him off them or maybe they were changing doses or types of meds. Who knows. It's none of the general public's business & I just feel terrible for the family.
