I bought the family the X-Files for Christmas...all nine seasons. I never watched it when it was on. I like them and am kinda addicted. The commericals are cut out, so an episode goes really fast.

Any other fans out there?

I'm a fan of the earlier seasons. Towards the end, it lost much of its charm for me, but it was a great show overall - enjoy! I love TV on DVD.

I love the X-Files too, it's one of my favorite tv shows too, though I have to agree with Zombie that I like the first couple of seasons best. Seasons 8 and 9 just didn't do it for me.

I love the X-Files. I agree seasons 8 and 9 were not great, due to lack of Duchovny, but Gillian Anderson still has some great episodes on her own.

Don't forget to see the movies! Fight the Future occurs between seasons 5 and 6. I want to believe came out this summer. My first Blu-Ray purchase was the 2 pack movie edition.

I Want to Believe (We're Still Relevant) was kind of a mess, though.

Okay, more than "kind of." I was actually insulted while watching it. :p

Add me to the "liked the first couple seasons, but not the rest" group... once it veered away from the paranormal to a show mainly about people involved in conspiracy theories, I totally lost interest.

It was better watching it on dvd the second time around. I still liked it, perhaps because I was happy to see Mulder and Scully back in action. I wish it would have answered the lingering questions left from the series finale, but oh well.

x-files is one of my obsessions (as well as fleetwood mac, 80's music, star wars and the goonies...to quote some).

i'm no big fan of the last seasons, I prefer seasons 4 and 5 (favourite chapter: pusher).

I was only 11 when "fight the future" was released and i remember i almost began to shout of anger when the bee stung Scully.
"this can't be happening, man". I cursed the guionist the whole week after.
on the other hand, I hated the second movie. boring. and the plot was unjuicy. all the scully-mulder chemistry was gone, and it gave no answers to will's whereabouts.

I have a lot of the chapters tapped in vhs. too bad my vhs doesn't work any longer.

I am glad to read that there are some fans out there...

Marienette, Ghost Tracker, Eric, LukeA., Gypsygirl15, Zombie... (Did I miss anyone?)

As I am watching these episodes...do you mind if I shoot a question to two by you? I might throw a Q out here, if anyone's reading.

Still on topic, but off the DVD thing...the last X-Files movie stunk. My wife and I (both average fans of the original show) HATED it. I mean, I give it a 5 out of 10. It was very un-XFiles-sy. The plot had holes all in it...it was just lacking in anything of remote interest.

Yeah, it was...painful. I am convinced that lobotomized chimps wrote it. I should like to give Chris Carter a firm talking-to over it, but it's obvious it was just a cash-grab. We have a special term for that over on the website I write for, but it is prolly inappropriate here.

I'll answer any questions I can, Betsy, no problem.

I'm apparently the only person who liked I Want to Believe! They were supposed to do a third movie to answer all the questions left over from the series, but since the last movie didn't exactly light up the box office, I'm worried it won't get made. There are things I need to know! Aargh!

P.S. Betsy, it's Erin, not Eric, unless I've changed my gender without realizing it. ;) Enjoy the series!

yeaaahhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! x-files fans in here!
ohh for me we can talk about it and exchange questions. I'm a great fan.
going back to the second movie...I don't think it was just a matter of lack of money. It was a matter of lack of ideas.
For us, fans, it would have been ok if CC had made something like a double episode...at least, for me.
I think that the only x-file in there was how they dared to do that crap?
I have the impression neither GA or DD were very eager to spend enough time to prepare the role and they shot the movie in a few weeks.
Result: no chemistry, no irony, no sexual-tension hahahhaha

Have you ever thought about the paralellism between Mulder and Scully and Stevie and Lindsey? (sorry, I've been all day studing...I can feel the steam going out my ears...) :D

I was soooooooooooooo into X-Files for a while there. Saw both movies though. I thought they were both disappointing.
I kind of petered out after DD left the first time.
But there are episodes I will watch any and every time they're on TNT or SCI FI, like Triangle, How the Ghosts Stole Christmas, Jose Chung, Bad Blood and Mind's Eye.
The conspiracy got too overwrought, but I looooved when Krycek was around.

No, no - I didn't mean the movie sucked because they lacked money when making it, I meant the movie sucked because it was just something they threw together to MAKE money. They know fans will pay whether or not Carter and the rest care enough to actually TRY to make a decent film. That happens to a lot of things with loyal fanbases.

Sorry Zombie I misunderstood. I think that it's a pity they do this in any show, but specially to The X-Files, a cult one.

At risk of sounding dramatic, there was almost nothing redeeming about the film. They never should have made it. You see nothing of XFiles for 10 years...and then it comes back, with that garbage? It should've been like T2...better than the first one.

I thought they still had chemistry. I liked the inside jokes from the series. Did you notice many of the extras in the film were from the series? Like one of the Samantha's was one of the nurses at the compound. It worked better as a small screen experience the second time around for me. I thought the storyline was somewhat interesting. They didn't have a very large budget to make the film. I think they were testing the waters to see if there was still a market while at the same time trying to make it a film for people who had never seen the show. That's where the problem was, imo, should have just gone with making a film for us nerds.
