I am planning to look for a new home to purchase since living in this current locale is no longer an option with Debbie's passing, and I would love to have a few suggestions and opinions so I will avoid any kind of a problem.

Well my wife and I bought right before the market "crashed" and went boobies up. So I wouldnt advise you to buy at ALL. But if you're going to...they say it's a buyers market. My wife and I should've had a more thorough inspection before we bought. One of the walls behind the main shower was leaking so we had to completely gut the shower and have it rebuilt and retiled. That was to the tune of about $4000 total. Yeah. We also had a large mold problem because of it, which tacked on another $1000 or so. Everything else has been ok. Our AC unit went out once, but the HOA covered it (gasp!).

Brian,
Good luck with searching for a new home. Take your time and choose the right house for you! We recently sold an old farmhouse with a lot of land. Moved into a new townhouse and it has worked out for us. No more lawncare and maintenance to deal with. My hubby really hated that. More time to travel on weekends. We're an older couple so the townhouse is more suited for our lifestyle.

I suggest buying something new, trying to fix up a home is a lot of work, $$$$$, and stress that you probably don't need.

You are so right on that. My mom was telling me that yesterday. It's good advice.

We Ledgies should buy a large estate somewhere (like Pacific Grove) right on the coast, & one & all can move in to experience a Ledgie Commune -- the first of its kind anywhere in the world! :)
It would be like our Benifols.

Well the housing market here in Oklahoma remains unaffected due to current economics. I saw a few houses today, but nothing that catches my fancy.
I am considering just buying the house I am currently in (Which is in Debbie's name, but I am still making the small monthly payments - only owe less than $7,000 on it, plus the $77.00 property tax still makes me laugh) but I am going to wait until the rest of the financial issues are resolved (Which should be this week). Only have to replace the windows and siding - If I do stay here I will have just give it a total remodeling and have the floors replaced, sheetrock replaced, a metal roof installed (Much more sturdy than the old asphalt sheet), install new plumbing (Just put in new sewer lines 2 years ago - rather easy job to do) and central heat & air installed.
Part of me is having a hard time dealing with moving away since I would not be able to visit her grave daily as I do...But at least someone else remembers Debbie because a white wooden cross (With Orange & Black Okla.St colored ribbons) has been placed at the accident scene.

I dont have a clue who put it out there. I saw the property owner on my way by the scene and stopped to ask if I could have permission to erect a cross at the scene, but that was when I saw the small cross.
I'm sure it had to be one of her co-workers, I know of one specifically who knew exactly where the accident occurred because she went out there the morning after to pickup stuff that was laying on the highway/culvert/etc.
I added items that belonged to Debbie onto the cross (See the enclosed attachments for the before and after pictures)
