If you like pre-orders Amazon has a new Stevie Nicks CD listed:
Stevie Nicks "The Best Of Stevie Nicks" release date Jan. 1, 2010
Label: RHINO
This wasn't something I heard officially, just saw it on Amazon.

Odd little things like these pop up every now and then (like the "Very Best Stevie Nicks Album Ever" release that never was) and then disappear. As it is, when I just searched for it at Amazon.com, it wasn't there.
I doubt they're already planning a release for 13 months from now.

.
It wasn't the U.S. Amazon site.
Search by the release date.

It is very difficult these days to make money from CD sales. Getting new material is not likely to happen from her as a solo artist.
There is no motivation to create great music, sadly. Esp from someone like Nicks who insists on the best of everything production wise.

It's NOT Stevie who would be authorizing the release of that album...it's a Rhino Records release, which means they DO NOT need the artist's approval to release a "best of" album under their label. Stevie would not be releasing another best of album, and like Johnny Stew said, it's probably bogus, just like "The Very Best Stevie Nicks Album Ever" was also bogus.
Also, doesn't the date Jan 1, 2010 catch anyone as not being authentic as far as the release date of an album goes? Jeez...so many people are quick to jump down Stevie's throat for nothing.

I'd imagine it's Stevie's management that generally makes decisions about best-of releases. And I'd also imagine they get her input, too.
As for the "Very Best ... Album Ever," this is a European CD series focused on classic rock artists. Stevie's edition was probably pulled for some logistical reason (maybe she planned to tour in Europe at some point, which would be a reason to release a another best-of.). I've never heard anyone confirm that they actually own it. I own Pat Benatar's edition. It looks like this:
The Very Best Pat Benatar Album Ever (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000069JI0?ie=UTF8&tag=stenicinf-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B000069JI0)

I think the record companies do this and sometimes it is against the artist's will.

I remember Stevie commenting, in regards to both 'Timespace' and 'Enchanted,' that the record company was going to release them with or without her involvement. So she decided that she'd rather involve herself so that she could make the packages more "personal."
I imagine the same was true of 'Crystal Visions.'

Yes, the record company owns the rights and they often do with them what they will.
I just saw a movie where the audio commentary was picture in picture. That would be great. If we got audio commentary from FM like we did for Rumours or like Stevie did for Crystal Visions, but we actually got to see them as they spoke.

If memory serves, Crystal Visions was originally announced as a Rhino release I seem to remember something about that when I first heard that she was releasing a comp (that eventually turned into CV) on a different board that I no longer frequent...so maybe this is what was to have been that???

Yes, it was originally a Rhino release, and then Stevie's record company (Reprise) took it over and Stevie became involved in the project that would eventually become Crystal Visions.
I have a radio interview on my iPod from Stevie last year where she said that Crystal Visions was a 3 month project, which to me shows how dedicated Stevie is to her album releases. This "release" is only on Amazon's UK website, so it's either a European exclusive (ala The Divine), or it's one of those bogus releases that pop up every now and then.

Rhino is a division of Warner Bros - dealing with their back catalogue - so at the end of the day whether it's Warner Bros. Reprise or Rhino - it's all the same record company.

Its funny cause I don't mind the 'Divine' cd which is a combo of WH/Mirror....it would've been cool to have had a second one (Divine 2) with a combo of BD/Ral on it too.....IMO with a better cover photo though it was ok.....who knows maybe this is it? probably not though.......I like Mirror and WH and I'd have not ever pictured them together like that before either.....

Heh, titling an album "The Very Best (Insert Artist's Name Here) Album Ever" is funny. It doesn't make it sound like a greatest hits or best of album so much as ZOMG THE BEST ONE EVAR!!11. You could just re-release the artist's top-selling album as is, slap a sticker on it that dubs it the best ever (zomg!), and call it a day.
Don't tell anyone in FM about that, though, or that'll be the next Rumours release after the one they're doing now. ;)

Yes, Warner does own Rhino, but like Warner Strategic Marketing, Rhino is much less specific to the artist's desires and has little to no artist involvement in their releases.

This is probably true in most cases. But I wonder about Stevie's relationship with Warner. If they really wanted to make money and didn't care about what she thought, I would think they'd have released more retrospectives than they have (3 in 27 years is actually not a lot). If you look at someone like Pat Benatar who had a pretty miserable relationship with her record label, there seems to be a brand new retrospective released every single year. So while the record label may ultimately have the final word, I think the quality of the artist's relationship with the label goes a long way.

I agree...and the thing that i like about Stevie's retrospectives are that they're not titled "The Ultimate Collection" or "Greatest Hits Volume 3" like alot of other artists out there.
