I don't know what's up with Albany, but I'm a little concerned this show may cancel. There are great seats up the hoozie wahzit available. Tickets.com actually went ahead and released rows 6-11 on the floor yesterday and most of them are still sitting there! I managed to snag 7th row aisle, but what good is it if this show cancels.
Even with the bad economy I'm pretty shocked about this. FM has always almost filled the arena every other time they have been here and Stevie NEVER makes a stop here, so it's not like it's been over-killed.
Are any other cities doing poorly?

hmmm, this worries me a little bit. It is exciting though that great seats are popping up, but the thing is that most people do not want to spend 150 dollars for a couple of hours of entertainment. I've never heard of tickets.com , is it a good site for tickets?
Also, keep us abreast of any sweets seats like these that pop at other venues!!!

You guys shoud definitely check stubsearch.com. You can actualy get single tickets for a few shows. There were some first row tickets for $500 or $600-something. Hope the prices will get lower.

It's the same thing as Ticket Master.
The Times Union Center (as well as alot of other venues) use tickets.com to sell their tickets instead of ticket master. It's not a broker site. It's the official one. And great, front seats are just sitting there.

As for the 500 front row seats, that is great that front row is available, but I wouldn't be able to spend more than the 145 dollar ticketmaster top for tickets.:( Does that make sense?

I even got a temp job just so that I can afford a ticket!!

Well, I'm not too surprised by this... it's a big arena, it's a weeknight, it's the dead of winter and Albany is smack dab in the middle of Nowheresville. Plus the upstate NY economy is in serious doo-doo right now, and Albany is like the eastern end of the Rust Belt. My hunch is that we will see this repeated all over the Rust Belt, including Rochester and Pittsburgh.

I wonder if this is the reason we are not getting any more dates? It has been 2 weeks now since the first dates have been announced and gone on sale.
Broadway shows are closing so why would people pay big bucks to see Fleetwood Hack?
Maybe the whole tour might go bust and end up being cancelled.

Honestly, I love this band, and hope to see much, much more from them in the future. BUT! I hope they fall flat on their faces with these ticket prices. Asking $150 for tickets for a band whose last top 10 single was during the Reagan era, and also who isn't touring behind any new material is just absurd. Add to it the serious recession we're in, and it's like the band is slapping us in the face AND pissing on us at the same time. I love Fleetwood Mac, I really do... but this whole lackluster money grab tour which they aren't even bothering to take new press pics for, while totally violating our entrails with the ticket prices, just has me FUMING!

Well, they can't judge yet, IMO.
They are still in the offering crap stage of the game.
The people who are most interested in going, are also interested in sitting closer than the back of the floor of a huge venue. The last minute people who think it might be nice to see the Mac aren't all that fussy, generally (although they may be for close to $200 a seat).
I would actually consider going to Albany, because at least they are offering good seats right off the bat. But, you know, there is the whole winter with the threat of massive amounts of snow which brings cities to their knees thing.
I don't know. I wish ticketmaster would wise up a bit and put some good seats out there early.

As evil as Ticketbastard may be, I don't think they have control over how tickets are released or priced. I don't even think FM has control. It is ultimately up to the promoter. I suspect that the VIP packages were a complete bust in Albany, and that they are starting to panic-sell now. I hope the promoters lose their shirts on this tour.

Yesterday, every seat in rows F thru L in sections 1 & 3 were released. Many of those are still available.
They have not released rows A-E... yet. Probably won't until March.
This is very similar to the last time Rod Stewart tried to come here. His prices were similar, too. Front floors were available right up to the day they cancelled the show. I don't remember how close it was to the show when they cancelled. Maybe a month.

I love FM... Don't really like the current FM... thought about buying tickets one last time... but I decided not to..
1. I have to be careful where I spend my money as the economy keeps getting worse I get more and more careful. 300-500 bucks for two tickets.. thats a lot of grocercies, car repair money, utilities, gasoline etc... to blow in two hours for the same songs that keep getting worse... no thanks... ridiculous in fact.
2. Don't need to hear another song live from Rumours ever again... unless it's I Don't Wanna Know, Oh Daddy, or Songbird
3. This band is just tired... As much as I love them... If you unleash them... the won't run very far... so no leash is needed...
4. They'll release a DVD of the tour.. for 20 bucks I can play it in my living room without paying for gas parking and... I'll see the set list which I will say again... no thanks...
Rather sit back and listen to my GOS album... it was a Great Day..

Putting tickets on-sale just prior to Christmas - especially during a recession - is foolish, but I expect there will be an upswing in sales after the New Year.
By the way, Billboard has revealed the year-end stats for all charts.
Here is the chart for top tours, which also provides how many attended, tickets available, number of sell-outs...
Top tours: 1) Bon Jovi. 2) Bruce Springsteen 3) Madonna. 4) Police. 5) Celine Dion. 6) Kenny Chesney. 7) Neil Diamond. 8) Spice Girls. 9) Eagles. 10) Rascal Flatts. 11) Vanhalen.

whats even funnier is this is the band that was so worried that nobody would pay for a double album in '03 because people are trying to put kids through college etc etc etc
How about some of that logic NOW...especially with the economy.
What really fried my dumpling..... 79-80.00 for the nosebleed seats in the first 5-10 rows. That's BS. Nosebleeds are nosebleeds. All upper level seats should be one price, lower bowl another, and floor seats another. Plain and simple.

It's not a question of whether it will stop you. It's a question of whether it will stop things in the city you are traveling in. And, of that, you have absolutely no control of whatsoever. You may have the pioneer spirit. The city you are going to may not. At all.
I have seen NY City at a practical standstill due to snow that Buffalo natives would laugh at. So, yeah, I'm hesitating about forking over big money, finding out that...oh, my Amtrak connection is 8 hours late and the concert is 5 hours away...and then eating the ticket money because no one will refund money for a concert that they may manage to play. Or, on the other hand, the concert itself could be cancelled because of closed roads or something and their trucks/buses/planes not making it to the venue on time and I'm stuck traveling somewhere--again, paying money for hotels and trains.
It's not such a simple thing. That's why I've really got to curb my enthusiasm (and I am enthusiastic about the tour) and just stay local till they do something late spring/summer).

Not everyone has this kind of money and that is just another sign of the times, but... If we who, did match the price, have a ticket, DO NOT TAKE THAT AWAY FROM US. now i have checked on ticketmaster for mohegan show there is no floor seats available at all lower level and upper levels only but i want to say i am sure they didnt sell all of the floor seats but it says when you click to order tickets it says some tickets may not be available in certain sections unless they are holding the whole floor for the vip and high rollers and radio winners. not sure. but no floor seats are coming up for mohegan unless it is sold i am impressed with the prices that the whole floor is sold out or they are just holding those tickets as it gets closer to show:blob1::blob2:

I haven't had the chance to read all the responses to this thread, but I do want to say that I am disappointed they are asking so much for their tickets. Fleetwood Mac is wonderful, sure, but they just don't have that pull anymore. Not even with Stevie. And it's a pretty horrid economy. I think they should have been a bit more reasonable with the prices, but that's just how I feel.
I of course want to see them. If Lindsey was touring with Sesame Street Live I'd see him. That's just the love coming out. But dang, they're greedy little biotches.

Shoot, I saw Sesame Street Live when I was 5 without the great LB, and it still ranks in my top 10 live music experiences. ;-)
I have, however, noticed that other dates (not just Albany) seem to be opening up better seats already - searches for the Pittsburgh date are getting progressively closer to the stage. The first day, I could only turn up nosebleeds with repeated searches, but today, I got several Igloos to turn up in a row (Igloo seats are club seats in the Mellon Arena).
I wonder if, rather than just pitching all of the ILAA packages that don't sell back into the general pool, they'll lower the price on some of them - still get the goodies and the M&G, just not at the sell-both-kidneys prices.
I already have tickets to Toronto, but I would like to make Pittsburgh, too, if possible.

I'm not all that negative about the ticket prices.
The regular asking price is not outrageous, given the market (and putting aside the economy). Other groups get the same--including those who are also not supporting new material so I really don't see FM deciding to work for less.
I DO object to the All Access and "Platinum" tickets, however. And $200 or whatever it is, above that, to meet Mick. That's where the rip-off element comes in big time. To think that die-hard fans can't get good tickets because they can't afford nearly $1000 per ticket is disgusting. And to pay...what...$700 per ticket is not enough for Mick to make an appearance? You have to fork over another batch of money for that?
Anyway, I'm looking forward to the actual concert. I know this angsting is part of the process but there is nothing quite like FM when they are all on that stage, doing their thing.

Yes, if they did venues like UB Center for the Arts or Shea's Buffalo or the Caesar's venue in Vegas or that theater LB played in Toronto Fall '07 - but NOT sheds. Most seats suck at outdoor amphitheaters, and the sound sucks, and you have to contend with the weather.

No, I haven't read, THE SECRET... I do own it, just never had the ambition to go on and read it. I do subscribe to the POSITIVE THINKING aspects of life. That AND being positive may affect the readers here... So that when they go to the concert they expect a great time and will leave with that feeling. I just do not dig when people think "OH NO... The problem is that they are not all going to be on stage, which makes the prices they're asking all the more insulting. While I'll always say it's legitimately Fleetwood Mac if Mick and John are in it, I have to say that going on this nostalgia tour without one of the vital components and charging those prices is totally out of line.

But they are not misrepresenting themselves. Christine is retired. Her choice. And that was a choice made several years ago. They didn't put a cardboard cutout of Christine there and they aren't putting another singer up there singing her songs. 4 out of 5 members of the Mac are there. What are they supposed to do? Bill themselves as Fleetwood Mac Minus 1?
That's who they are now and who they have been since 2003. And they are singing their hits. Again, NO misrepresentation. They are singing their hits. Nothing else is promised. And these are the prices. Want to go? Pay the money. Don't? Stay home. It's a choice.
Hey, I would love them to do more than the hits. But, there are those in the group (Stevie, for sure, and I suspect Mick) who believe 99% of the audience wants ALL HITS. ALL THE TIME! I could stay home and squirrel away money for the next Lindsey tour, or enjoy what they are offering will no illusions that it will be anything other than it is.
And, I've finally come to realize that for all the smoke and mirrors, or drama and pathos, FM is a job to these people. And if other groups are making this kind of money, they are definitely NOT going to adjust their bottom line to accomodate a bad economy or anything else.
It's just the way it is.

I'm not shocked. They're trying to conduct business like the Eagles. The only problem is that the Eagles only lost Don Felder. They still have Don Henley and Glen Frey, so it'll still sound like the Eagles. Fleetwood Mac lost Christine McVie, the singer who had the most hit singles, so it'll sound very different. If Christine were still there, then $125 might be reasonable. But not like this, especially as Stevie and Lindsey have been touring extensively (for them) since the last Fleetwood Mac tour.

It is coming to the point that they are going to have to go, "back to the trenches." They need to remember why they started doing this : THE MUSIC!!! If that is not why they are doing this, they should have stopped. I think their hearts are still in it. I think they love this music. I am sure this will all work out in the end.

If they wanted to go big, they shoulda come with something different, like Tusk cover to cover or something. They could have had the upper hand too, finally getting the world to see their error of their ways in regards to the original release. Performing albums cover to cover rocks!
Of course, it woulda sucked without Christine, but it would have been something at least.

Seriously. It spoiled me right good, too! Now we're spending at least double of his ticket prices for venues ten times as big!

Rochester is doing terribly, and I wouldn't be surprised if they ditched it and/or Albany, either giving them a long weekend, or maybe a fill date in Verona to placate Upstate NY (Rochester AND Albany was obviously too much too soon).
Why do these people need a long weekend? It's not like any of them have a day job.
I say this because I'd like them to schedule all of their concerts on Saturday (except for those that I can drive to, those can take place during the week). That would make travel much easier.

Pittsburgh is selling decently. Remember, this thing is going down a little over two months from now. Christmas is next week, people will have some extra cash. Let's not cancel the tour just yet. All that "rust belt" crap is useless. The people in Pittsburgh and other cities in the Rust Belt turn out for concerts as much as anywhere else. Ask Springsteen.

Here is my thoughts
When Christine retired it left a big hole in the band that I don't think can ever be replaced. Maybe after the Dance Tour was over that should have been it.
However they decided to continue and released a decent album. I saw them on the last tour and was very dispointed. I think they should have lost the back up players and went out as a foursome (With an extra Keyboard Player perhaps). I may be in the minority but I have never been a fan of Back Up Singers. In lots of cases they steal the show with loud vocals that drown the actual singer. I remember the live version of SYW in Toronto and all of the other people singing backup made it hard to hear Stevie and Lindsey.
Where I get angry is that they are treating this tour like it is something they have never done saying things like "For just this one time you are getting all of the hits" when in fact that is all they have ever really done. If the last tour didn't inspre them to be creative with the setlist (Older Peter Green Bob Welch material, Lesser known stuff from the Rumours Lineup)then it is pretty clear that they are doing this for the wrong reasons.
I remember one of my friends once told me if you can by an entire artists Catalogue of full length studio albums for the price of a ticket to their shows then you know they are charging too much money.
Time will tell if this tour is a bust or not but in this economy it isn't looking good.

This thread has become negative. We want them to work around OUR schedules. We want it cheaper, we want it OUR WAY, with OUR songs. Sometimes we forget, we have the option to NOT pay that kind of money. We have the option to NOT go if we don't like the songs. We have the option to just STAY HOME. I am going regardless of what the charge, play, or how many people sing back-up. IMO, this is THE MAC and I am lucky enough to see them anyway I can.

Eh, I'll agree that the weather thing is a little silly.

I got to see five Robert Pollard/Boston Spaceships shows for a total of $75 on tickets. I think there's a lot more value in paying $15 for a ticket and actually being entertained by a dynamic, original performer singing songs for the first time compared to being frustrated by a band that has a lot of potential to make good music but is weighed down by stagnation. And, honestly, I can't imagine paying that much and have to listen to Lindsey give some canned speech about how they're all healing.

Hi y'all. Kevin here. I'm pretty new to the boards. First, I have to say that it's really fun to find people into FM. I usually have to talk my friends' ears off while they just pretend to be listening!
A few thoughts on the whole new tour thing...
First, they're charging too much. I don't know whether it's them or whether it's the promoters or the venues, but even if the economy weren't so rocky, it would still be too much. There are ways for bands to tour for less (i.e. fewer non-Mac people on stage), and there are bands (much less famous, of course) who have had much more integrity when it comes to ticket prices. As an example, the Indigo Girls used to play the Greek Theater in Berkeley all the time. The Greek raised its prices and wanted to charge more than what the IGs thought was right, so they decided to stop playing there. That was it. Now they play at other venues. Perhaps the whole Fleetwood Mac machine is too big for the band to control, which would be really sad, but I'm guessing that if they really wanted to, they could have an effect on ticket prices.
I sympathize with kennation that this thread has become kind of negative, but, at least in my case, it comes down to just being frustrated. He's absolutely right; I don't have to buy a ticket at all. The problem for me is that, even with the frustration of high prices and the probable predictability of the set list, I of course still want to go. I can't let a Mac concert go by. So I get frustrated with them and with myself for not having stronger convictions (at least when it comes to F Mac!).
Finally, I was thinking about this whole setlist thing, and I came up with a theory, which you are all free to shoot down. The one thing F Mac has never done since it became a super group (at least not consistently) is play short shows. They always go for a little under 2 1/2 hours. Stevie and Lindsey said they're going to play all their hits. Usually, when they tour behind a new CD, they only play maybe 5 or 6 song from the new CD, plus possibly a rare old song or two. That's basically what they did with the SYW tour and the Dance tour. Other than that, they play their hits or well known songs. All of them. So if they're saying that for this tour they're just going to play "hits", that should mean that they'll have to play 5 or 6 song that we don't usually hear. I mean, what hits can they play that they don't normally play (if they don't play any of Christine's songs, which I'm assuming they won't)? The only "hit" that they don't normally play is Seven Wonders, right? So maybe they will trot out a handful of old/rare/new songs. I know that a handful isn't a ton, but it's better than nothing. And maybe Lindsey and Stevie aren't saying that they're doing that because they want to talk up the hits aspect since they think (and they're probably right, unfortunately) that that's what the majority of the ticket buyers (as opposed to the people on this board) really want to hear.
Just a theory.

Hi Kevin,
Well, once we knew that Irving Azoff and LiveNation were involved, costly tickets were a given. When FM signed with them, they signed away any control over ticket prices -- not that they ever expressed any interest in having control.
Yes, you're right that just due to concert length (and they wouldn't dare shorten the show to under 2 hours, if they want to keep audiences happy) we should get some songs that haven't been around.
Just based on what Stevie said about Christine's songs, I'm thinking they will add at least one more of hers to the set. I could easily see that being You Make Loving Fun, just because it's from Rumours and Lindsey really likes playing it. I don't know who would sing it!

I don't think it's a mere theory. If the first 20 rows are eaten up by ILOVEALL ACCESS.COM, if the economy is a disaster, if the holidays are coming, if the snow might arrive, if you are paying a morgage, if you are paying your kid's tuition or if you "believe in the five," there's just something not quite right about paying for a tour that doesn't include something new. What's startling is that this website usually represents the most die-hard of the fans, the ones that go to repeat shows. (This is the website that the "official" website formerly ripped off for it's information.) The thousands of people that used to frequent this site, including it's former owners just aren't into it anymore, for all sorts of reasons. I think the one day of promo interviews helped, as there seemed to be a spike of interest on this website, but they need to work a bit more, and stir some excitement. Perhaps, Stevie & Lindsey, since they are the ones actually singing the songs, need to somehow let people know what is being unleashed, to stir up some interest.
Personally, I don't want to buy a ticket until after the first show happens, because I just don't trust this band to not try to do The Dance (without even having Christine) all over again. I have the casette, the CDs (with the singles), have the video, have the DVD AND have the t-shirt from The Dance already. Sure, it's work for them, but they definitely are not the hardest working band in history. Many have worked much harder for much less. Including people from this website.
kennation is paying top dollar for two seats. So are a few others. Then this band will come back in a few more months, MAYBE with new material, and charge you all again. For maybe even MORE money. Maybe Mick will up his fee to $400.00 for a meet and greet. Eh. Sit tight. Let's see what they are really offering for your hard earned dollars. It's your money until it's theirs.

When Fleetwood Mac signed with their booking agent/representatives for this tour, they (in concert with their own representatives) determined the ticket prices for the tour when they negotiated the fee that they would require for their time/performances. They are directly related. If Fleetwood Mac wanted to lower their ticket prices, they could/would- but they won't, because it would lower their fee.

I have seen Fleetwood Mac on every tour since my first show in December of 1979 save for the "Time " shows (I couldn't feature sitting through Pat Benatar and Reo Speedwagon to see a backup singer warble her way through Nicks's and Mcvie's hits) waiting for ChiliD to chime in .But this time I am seriously thinking of boycotting the tour .I can afford it but the prospect of seeing a Christineless Buckingham Nicks putting on a show of the '"hits" sans the woman responsible for over 50% of said hits just seems a bit absurd.

Aside from the things they do every time (THE CHAIN, GYOW), it's hard to figure out what they might do next year because that "hits" word is misleading: what might have been a hit -- on paper -- a long time ago is by now completely forgotten. Examples: LOVE IN STORE, THINK ABOUT ME, FAMILY MAN, AS LONG AS YOU FOLLOW, SKIES THE LIMIT, SAVE ME.
They're less inclined to play this stuff than to play the non-hits that they always play: NEVER GOING BACK AGAIN, I'M SO AFRAID, WORLD TURNING, LANDSLIDE, BLUE LETTER, SECOND HAND NEWS, RED ROVER (not to be confused with the Howard Hawks film RED RIVER), etc.
I think their repeated mention of "hits" is misleading many of us. I think what they're really going to do is play most of their concert staples.

That's pretty funny and if they really talked to each other, it wouldn't be half bad. I mean Lindsey's rote speeches about it being a long, strange trip "and here we are" didn't do anything for me after the 5th time, but when they went off script, I was pretty interested. Even the simple things . . . I remember they were in Anaheim and Lindsey said that they felt like it was their home and Stevie said, "It is our home." Just the "are you crazy" familiarity in her voice when she addressed him tickled me.
I don't know if I want 40 minutes of that, but I wouldn't sneeze at 20.

I remember Lindsey said he was surprised that Clinton knew the words to ISA because it had never been released as a single. It showed me that Lindsey knows many casual fans don't know that song, yet he is going to play it until he loses his arms.

I plan to be at several shows. But there are limitations. I don't want to pay $150 per ticket to sit half an arena away. Nor for floor seats in the way-back section either.
I think the shows would have sold out immediately if they did all smaller venues. I'm allowed to say that and still love the music.

Now, Rashomen would be great. It's like with the BN album cover. I've heard Stevie talk about that a million times, but I've never heard Lindsey's version of the story. Same thing with Landslide and Aspen and he took the car and the dog and she just knew she could take Greyhound because her father was king of the company, etc. I'd like to hear Lindsey's version of that one.
I've heard the other 4 talk about their meeting in the Mexican restaurant and their immediate chemistry when they started with the White album, but I haven't heard John talk about it, so he could tell that story as an intro to, hmmmm, Crystal.

Rather sit back and listen to my GOS album... it was a Great Day..I totally agree with you on all points taken. Personally with the economy the way it is...I'm surprised anyone has any money to spend it on a concert ticket esp with as high as they are now. Personally, a part of me will love Mac and Stevie but as much as that is there time has come & gone. They are not the 'band' that they once were....same for Stevie....she may have a nice voice now but she does the 'same' show ....the same 'set' list and were suppose to pay some high priced ticket for the same show over & over again & thats acceptable. I have seen FM/Stevie Nicks 7 times so far and maybe I am in the minority here but I really dont care what songs they do. I love this band so much they could sing the freaking phone book and I would be happy. I personally dont really care that Christine is gone and am happy to have Stevie and Lindsey. I agree that the ticket prices are high but last year I paid 125 plus fees to see Christina Aguilera, Pussy Cat Dolls and Danity Kane so paying 150 plus fees for Fleetwood Mac almost seems like a deal to me!!!Maybe not now but maybe one day you will....maybe one day in the future you'll feel kinda cheated when you listen to the LP/cds and wonder why could'nt they have song this song or that one. I paid $150.00 to see that show too? wow. Maybe you won't but who knows really. Personally, I don't want to hear the 'phone' book from anyone. Even if your only saying that to be funny (LOL) but still......no band or singer is worth it......not to me. Plus, you could use your $$ for something more special for yourself or for family...since Christmas is due this week. IMO anyway.....just some random thoughts....to each his or her own......no offence really.....
Hm. The cheaper tickets are $50-80 dollars, and that isn't too bad. Yes, they're gouging for the better seats, but so what? We should be glad they're still touring, even if they're playing the same old songs. Hell, we should be glad they're even alive.

Amen to that. When I bought my tickets for the Pittsburgh show, the ticketmaster lady told me they have seats available for 45 bucks. Not a bad price at all.

I'm glad there all alive & well.....don't get me wrong.....& yeah, not all are expensive but really thats not the point here.....I for one am tired of the same old same old....I know they aren't gonna change....so I for one don't have to or want to spend the extra $$ to see the same thing over & over again.....if they won't change I can change myself and just not spend the $$ on it.....Plus, I for one don't really like the Palace , here in Michigan to see a concert....so impersonal really. I agree with some other posters that 'smaller' venues would've suited them much much better than the larger ones. I guess some shows have sold out but I doubt many will really. So I'm happy for those who want to go and I'll hear about it all on this site. I really don't think I'll miss much though.....that is IMO though......

I don't think they are having poor sales at The Garden in NYC. I think they are doing very well with sales for the NY Metrpolitan area shows.
Why should the band have to take new press pictures for the tour? Does that affect sales? I can't imagine one getting disappointed over pictures. That, to me, seems like wasted energy.

Let's see the first time I saw FM was on the Dance tour and I was hooked. After that I saw Stevie twice in Pittsburgh and then saw her in Cuyahoga Falls and then the last FM tour I saw them 3 times going to pittsburgh, toronto and camden. Oh and then I saw Lindsey solo in Pittsburgh too the last time he came here.
Yeah I would love for FM to do Sisters of the Moon or Storms but for me I love every single song so damm much that I am not going to be picky. Being able to hear Sara live on the last tour was the best thing ever. I am happy just being in their presence so that is why I said they could be singing the phone book and I would be esctatic.

I will be very happy to see their "hits". Honestly, I can't wait to see them again, especially if Stevie is in the same form as last year.
I'm still worried the show closest to me is going to cancel because of poor sales. :distress:
I will go to MSG if I have to. Actually, I would LOVE for FM to be my first show to see there. It would be nothing to take the train in and out the same day. Except it's a work/week day.

Ticket prices are a strange thing. I guess as long as people are willing to pay that much to gawp at a group of girls that thought a song like "Buttons" was a good idea, then they can charge whatever they want.
I paid less than that to see Leonard Cohen. I would've paid double if they wanted it, because it was Leonard freakin' Cohen and I never thought I'd have a chance to see the man live. It would have been more than worth every penny.
Perhaps there are people in the world that feel the same way about whatever it is the Pussycat Dolls call what they do.

i only read the first two pages, so forgive me in advance...
but i'm no longer excited about this tour.
1. tickets on sale two weeks before the holiday season? airfare to visit my mom, or one decent ticket + fees... FM can wait, assuming the show i would want to attend isn't cancelled in the meantime.
2. i liked SYW and enjoyed having six or so new songs every night. Big Love is great the first time, but that has become the "bathroom break song." i don't hold much hope for songs like Sisters or Fireflies, so i'm not sure what this "historic UNLEASHED" tour will bring.
3. no one could be bothered to make new publicity photographs. one day and a few thousand bucks go a long way. to me, it just shows how little effort is going into this. the website has been in limbo for so long now, i guess it barely matters.
4. and as far as those BOURGEOIS, RIDICULOUSly-priced ticket packages go, i'm disappointed. period.
i might sit this one out. i was excited on day one, but now the idea's not just lost its luster, it is beginning to stink.
anyone who's not been to a show - GO. those concerts easily make up some of the best hours i've spent, but i think i'm done spending money on the same old stuff.

these newly joined positive police are fine, until they begin to assert their control as they did on Mick's board to the point that they censure anyone else who disagrees with them. If you check out Mick's board, it's totally "closed," so no one's reading it. This board is "open." They are worried about the 'negativity' since anyone can read and contribute comments about the proposed money grab tour here.

It's not that we're trying to be killjoys, it's mainly that we're frustrated. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't your first show in 1997? Mine was in 1990. I'm frustrated because ALL of those shows were essentially greatest hits with some new songs, so the notion that a greatest hits tour is a big paradigm shift for Fleetwood Mac is crazy. I'm frustrated because the prices are too high. I roll my eyes at the meet and greet.
Some of that is because of this weird (good weird) position I'm in. I wouldn't pay a dime just to meet Mick Fleetwood. I could see myself paying around $100 if it were a big eight hour catered party, with unlimited adult beverages and lots of good food (talkin' pig roasts, people). But, that's not what this is. Rock stars are people, too.

I don't see it as anyone trying to be a killjoy, either. I have never seen the Mac live, though I have seen Stevie, so I am very excited for the show - but at the same time, I am really disappointed with the VIP package junk, and, to an extent, the regular ticket prices, too.
They want us to pay nearly 2 grand for two tickets and 2 bag of odds and ends, you aren't guaranteed that you'll have a decent seat, and then they want us to pay EVEN MORE just to say hi to only Mick? It just feels really insulting.

I actually just had this very same conversation with my plumber. I'm not even kidding. Having had to call him out for the third time since Thanksgiving, Eric the Plumber and I became quite close and often engaged in deep, philosophical discussions.
Though acknowleding the many cold showers I'd recently taken, he insisted that even though American Water Heater lost a class action lawsuit because their product was defective in the past that today they make the best water heaters in the country. I said, if that's the case, how come I only read complaints about them on the internet. He said because people who are happy and don't have any complaints don't post on the internet. No one goes on line to say they love their water heater. When you're content, there is nothing to say. He said only people who are unhappy will take the time to post.

Michele, good post and funny too.
For those of us that have been fortunate enough to see them multilple times, I can understand the complaints about another greatest hits tour and the price of some of the V.I.P. packages. Though if you're creative enough you might be able to get very good seats and even meet, or at least see them backstage. I know there's more than one of us here that have done that. ;)

Oh, I'm not putting anyone down for doing it, either. If I could afford it, I'd do it, too - but I'd likely still feel insulted, particularly if this ends up going down like I hear the fan club thing went down last time.
All the time and energy and money I've devoted to this band over the years...yow. I've got well over 2 grand worth of albums, CDs, DVDs, posters, and other memorabilia scattered around my house that I have collected over the years, with much love and joy and care. If I could somehow sell all my stuff, THEN I could afford to meet Mick and get my little bag of goodies and hope my seat is at least within the first 3 rows, but I'd lose all the treasures that mean so much to me in the process.
I can't quite articulate it properly, but that's what makes me sad. That there are many of us that have been so devoted for so long, but if we don't have extra money lying around to pay for the "honor" of meeting Mick, then we're SOL.

Personally, everyone has made great points. Good bad or indifferent. We all have a right to our opinions no matter if we agree or agree to disagree with them. I like it that way. I've spent lots of $$ on my Stevie/Mac collections as well. I've seen Stevie solo more than I've seen Fmac (Mac 3 times--90/97/03) ....Stevie 6 times since '94 (94/98/01/05 with Don/07/08)....so yes I've enjoyed it and maybe not enjoyed it at times. I don't think its being a killjoy to be realistic about this new tour for Mac next yr. If you can go and want the most expensive or the least expensive ticket go by all means necessary.....I just will pass on this tour. I know I'll hear all about it here....thats ok......so I miss it....life does go on. Its not the end of the world if I miss either one of them anymore. Probably at the start of my fandiom it would've totally bothered me but well ....I'm older and well spending $$ for tickets just isn't that important to me anymore. Same with Stevie when I saw her early @ DTE this yr I wasn't gonna spend the $ for expensive tickets for the same setlist anymore. I was disappointed in it all. Esp the last couple of yrs of going. Personally, I'd like it if it meant more to her but to me she goes through the motions. I don't like the covers. Yes its different....but its not for me when she has a catalog of songs of 'her' own that she won't play at all. When a artist won't play her/his own songs that should tell us/you something. Same with Mac....there formula has worked since Stevie & Lindsey joined the band in '75 the show isn't gonna change and well as much as I love Rumours they have a larger catalog of music they could at least attempt to play but 'they' won't cause none of them like change......IMO anyway.....to me thats realistic not negative.....It is what it is and it won't change.....:nod:

I can't see this being their final tour. They're all in good health (from what I can tell), and you know if they are just sitting around for a while, they will get bored and go out again. At one of the Stevie solo shows I saw this year, she commented that they decided to do a tour because they didn't have anything better to do and sitting around watching TV was boring, so... let's not worry about stuff like that until we have a reason to.

2. i liked SYW and enjoyed having six or so new songs every night.
Well said.
I mean, I'm not gonna lie, I feel like there are alot of killjoys posting in this thread, but while I might not agree with it, I understand that opposing viewpoints should be allowed to be aired. I'm still excited about the tour and going to the shows. Other people arent as much, thats cool with me.:)
Nobody here is trying to kill anyone's joy.
Yup.
I am trying to figure who these, "Positive Police" are... It's the funniest thing... On the Stevie Nicks boards people are alwaysrespectful of each other and they try, no matter what difference, to be kind. There is nothing wrong with that.
Are there people here being disrespectful or unkind? Did I miss something?
Great post.

Whatever happens, happens and this tour will rock. I am SOOOO excited. Poor sales happen. It's a bad time of year to be spending that much money, certainly. WE should go and support and pretend that it's 1979 all over again and be happy that they are doing it. I hope to meet some of you! I can't wait to put faces to names. There is no need to worry about cancellations until they happen. Until then, let us be excited! In the words of Stevie: I CAN'T WAIT!

I’m considering buying FM tickets as a Christmas present for my parents. As a result, I’ve been searching the TM website on a daily basis to see what’s available. I was really hoping for a front row seat in the upper deck, as they would have trouble standing for the entire concert. So, when I checked a week ago, Row 2 was available in the Upper Deck section nearest the stage. I thought, ok, I’ll check every day until they sell out that section. Then maybe I can get Row 1 in the next section – still a good seat basically in the middle of the arena.
What a laugh! In a week’s time, they have only sold ONE ROW in this section. I’ve also been checking the lower levels. One week ago, they had 5th row available, on the side of the stage. Very close seats! A week later, only three rows have been sold in this section right next to the stage. So how much did they sell in a week’s time when people are shopping for Christmas presents? Maybe 50 tickets?!?!?
It’s not hard to deduce the problem. It's greed, mixed with stupidity. Since when do Upper Deck tickets go for the same price ($150) as floor seats? Granted, the Allstate Arena isn’t huge and the second level isn’t really what you’d call “nose-bleeds”… but still.
Unless the economy completely turns around in the next 3 months, FM will be playing to a half-full arena in Chicago. How sad is that?
I know these people may be heroes to many of you (me too! but on a side-note, without Christine it's just not really FM anyhow), but when multi-millionaires go on a tour simply to rake in money and not for the benefit of their fans or for the joy of performing music, then it is time to JUST SAY NO.

Good points. Very good points, and still an option for those who can't afford it. I think that this show would be good for newbie fans. They could get an idea of where the mac has been and where they may go... Lindsey will take care of that. You can always count on LB for a good show. Stevie will do her part. John and Mick will rock- good for any new fan. I would have liked that in my early stages of Mac-dom...

No, that's OK, you go ahead. Seriously, I'm glad you're excited about this tour. I've been in your shoes , really I have. But nobody here is telling you what to do, so please don't tell "us" what "we should" do. It implies that it's up to us to suck it up, grin & bear it, and go to as many shows as possible to support the band. Many of us simply can't, or aren't willing to, do so this time around. Don't tell ME to be happy, dammit!
About the slow sales, what do they expect? Forget the economy & the possible ****ty weather that time of year - there's been almost NO promotion, nothing for people to look forward to & get excited about. In '97, it was HUGE news that they were touring. People had ample notice that tix were going on sale, time to talk about it & spread the word & venues sold out fast. SYW tour wasn't as big obviously, but we still new well in advance when shows were coming & when to get tix.
This tour has shown up as a surprise that people weren't expecting, weren't ready for & apparently didn't want. It worries me that we weren't the first to get tour info - the fan community always used to find something out ahead of the general public, even if it was just a rumour. It was never official right away & it wasn't always totally correct, but there was talk & excitement going on for weeks prior. This time around I read it here & by the next day it was in the paper. WTF?

I guess I should maybe try to make my point a different way. I'm 37, and when I was younger I was either too young or didnt have enough money to see Fleetwood Mac or any of its members until the Dance tour. I wanted to go to more on that tour than I did(5) so when they SYW tour came along I decided to go all out. I wont be going to as many shows on this tour as I did on SYW thats for sure, but I am still excited because I missed out on so many opportunities when I was younger. I probably shouldve used a different word that killjoy. It was just a little bit of a downer seeing the negative opinions, but like I said I think its good that people are speaking their mind. Everybody has different levels of interest or frustration with how this is being presented. I certainly dont expect everyone to share my enthusiasm about this tour.

Well I share your devotion!! And your enthusiasm!!! I just wish I had your energy. . . My intention is to catch 2 shows in addition to the MSG show for which I've spent my last penny. So I'll be catching up on the other two closer to showtime. And I'll probably have to miss Morrissey at Carnegie Hall that week. . . that's how much I love the Mac.

First of all, your attitude needs some repair. No one said for you to suck it up. I am only explaining my stand point in a reasonable manner. That is exactly what this forum is about. If you cannot be more civilized then you SHOULDN'T be here. That simple. Get a grip. Sorry if my supportive approach to a band I adore upsets you. It's a shame you can't be a happier person and respect the opinion of others without getting so nasty. People like you should be removed from the site. Plain and simple.

skcin, your point is well-taken with regards to telling people what they should or shouldn't do. Hopefully, my 'just say no' message came across as intended... as a suggested means of protest against fans being abused by rock stars. Because, if money's all they're interested in, then empty stadia will send the message!
For those of you who do not feel abused then, of course, enjoy the show!

To be fair how many newbie fans do you think are out there? They haven't released a new album or done anything since SYW to win any new fans. This tour - being sold as a greatest hits show too - is completely to appeal to old time fans wanting to hear the old hits, the exact target market that posts here and isn't so thrilled in fact.

Wow. I really think you are out of line. You just joined this Board a few weeks ago and you're talking to a long-time member this way? Paula has a great reputation on this Board and happens to be a good friend of mine. Her post was not rude. She told you that you are free to speak your mind, which you are, but that you should not tell the rest of us over and over (and over) about how happy we should be about this tour and how we should all jump to throw our money at them for a rehashed, backwashed, half-assed, money-grubbing tour. You are the one that should get a grip. And, you'll note that she used the  icon, which denotes that she was joking in at least that part of her post. Maybe if you had been around longer, you would undertand the uses associated with various smilies.
That being said, I'm a huge fan of the Mac. Everyone thinks I'm crazy. I've only see FM twice (on the SYW tour). Will I go see them? Yes. Will I bitch about the tired set list and lack of promotion and overall effort? You bet. Will I spend a fortune for a VIP package? Nope. I'll take my chances and wait for the prices for the good seats to come down.
If spending almost $2,000 on your 2 VIP packages was worth it to you, great! Nobody here is telling you to not be happy about it. It's a message board where people post conflicting opinions and debate various topics, FM included. If you want a Board that is all sunshine and rainbows, you could pop over to 7 Wonders.

Ken, I think you're way out of line here. SKCIN was not trying to be rude..and I don't think her post came across that way. I believe the problem is that every time someone posts some general unhappiness or concern regarding this tour, you chime in with how much you have spent on tickets and that everyone should be as excited about this tour as you are. You have stated your opinion on this tour many times. I really don't think you need to state it again. We know you are excited...we also know that you think the ticket prices are totally reasonable. The fact is there are some people who don't agree and that's just the way it is. I am a HUGE Fleetwood Mac fan...saw them 5 times on the SYW tour, Lindsey about 5 times solo, and Stevie way too many times to count. I will probably go to at least 3 shows this spring...more if I'm able. Do I think the bogus packages they are offering are highly insulting...absolutely! Are the ticket prices a little steep...very much so! I'll probably even complain about the setlist while I'm at the show but I'll still be there! :wavey:
The point is everyone is entitled to their opinion so please respect that.

When someone is using that kind of language it becomes offensive. It is not as though I was trying to upset him in any way. He misconstrude my point and had some terrible language to respond with. I would never attack someone. However: there is a limit. Just because he is a long-term member doesn't mean he is to be any more respected than anyone else. So, no attacks on me. It is not wrong, or unrealistic at all. I think i just missed the part where she was being "rude" or "disrespectful", because of all of the people on this site who would have that tendency, shes not usually one of those. I dont think it is ever ok for people to be mean to each other, but you also have to know all the facts, and she did use the laugh icon, which meant she meant it with tong in cheek. And NO ONE likes to be told what to think or how to feel, and thats a fact. I Know that's not what you are trying to do, but it does seem to have been coming across that way. Again, it really is nice to have your enthusiasm and energy for the band. I will also see at least three shows. One will be in the first couple rows, and will more than likely pay to Meet Mick. But, if it is the same thing with *NO* surprises. I will be very dishearted and WILL Complain. And that won't make me a bad fan either. I loved the Say you will tour for Stevies standback spinns, Beautiful Child, and I REALLY enjoyed the song Say you will as well. To me, those were all NEW things that made it worth it, So im hoping for afew surprises, but am not holding my breath, but that's ONLY because they have given me no reason to. Ya know?

You know if we were in Nazi Germany and Fleetwood Mac were the Furor, you may have a point. However, this is a free forum, 'OUR' free forum and we can complain, critique, comment, joke, goof around, praise as much as we like. I'll attack the issues I have with the band, but never someone else's opinion. And most of the time, I invite people to change my mind. Shack got me to listen to GOS and he was right I loved it. Hated UTS, still do..
Some of the older respected ledgies have a vibe and we all know each other's humor and such... that's the advantage of earning respect in these forums. I'm also gonna guess most of these ledgies you are calling out have purchased and forgotten more Mac than you'll ever know.
These are great people that post here and to judge them because you think they should kiss FM's behind is kind of controlling and passive aggressive in my book.
My advice, focus on your opinion and how you feel about the band, and not so much on folks that don't agree with you. Otherwise it's a FM lovefest... GROSS!

^ Great post jbrownsjr. I've been a fan of FM for more than 20 years and I've spent an incredible amount of money on the band and its members, even flying to other countries to see them and spending much of my free time on them. But just because the band has meant a lot to me over the years and given me much joy that doesn't mean I have to endorse everything they do, whether it's their music or badly run fanclubs or over-priced tickets. And really if you can't say this stuff on a fan forum where can you say it? People here are interested, they understand, they can discuss it. If I bring it up on, say, the Foo Fighters forum, no one there is going to be remotely interested.
But then, I've only bought all the Mac's albums, singles and videos/DVDs, been to see them live numerous times, built up a huge collection of bootlegs and memorabilia, what do I know, I'm not a REAL fan apparently.

As for the 'real fans support at any cause', sorry, never bought into that...I believe 'real fans' also have the right to question certain moves a band makes, even if that may appear to some as being "Not supporting a band and being a fan".
As much as anyone I would like to see this band do the right thing for once, but when one hopes for something in regards to Fleetwood Mac, it is better to say "Fill your one hand with dreams and fill the other with a piece of s**t and see which gets 'filled' first"
Brian "If I am not a 'real fan', than I guess it is time for me to leave this website after all the years I have been a member and BURN all the Fleetwood Mac related material I own" j.

I am not saying that its there final tour it could be though it feels to me that it would be I hope I am wrong and there is many tours to follow and at least one more studio cd to follow hopefully they can get Christine back in for one more time before they quit it would be awesome. REAL FANS SUPPORT THEIR BAND! At any cost.
What is this a promotion for Chris Nicks' site? ;)
Seriously though, it should be a two way street. We support the band, the band rewards its loyal followers.
The sad thing about FM seems to be that the almighty $ has taken the place of producing good music. We might not get a new album but we'll get another greatest hits tour rehashing what we have heard many times before. That sounds like a money making exercise to me.
You know the exciting thing about following a band isn't always about seeing them live, it is also about the excitement the first time you hear a new song, the thrill of unwrapping that new CD with NEW songs.

I think you really captured an essential fan exeperience. Thank you for stating it so well. I fell in love with the Mac when I put a band's name to the song "Go Your Own Way." Every time I open some shrink wrap on an album I haven't heard before, I think ... will I hear another "Go Your Own Way" or, as in a series of books, "What happens NEXT?!" Those opportunities are going to come less and less now that I own every Mac-related release known to man. In theory, these folks could sit in a studio and record new albums for the next thirty years. That's 15 albums they have in them, but there are other considerations. . .
What I also believe is that this tour might be what they need to get going on some of that new music. In part, I think they have to prove that they are still a viable investment. And second, they have to find an emotional connection again, a shared vision. I hope it works.

There are still a few suprises though - the Mick Fleetwood Blues Band album and Dave Mason's new one (first time I've actually liked a Dave Mason album).
Actually the best thing in the past year was buying the Billy Burnette back catalogue. I'm not getting a Xmas present off my wife this year as I spent all the money on them. The only way I could get her to agree was to make the deal that she didn't have to buy me an Xmas present. It was worth it though!!!
I just wish I could get the same thrill from a new FM album but I think mostly it will be solo stuff from more obscure members from now on.

SOME of you all get on here and BASH the tour, bash each other and RARELY do some of you say something that would make a new fan interested in this band. You, for the most part are full of complaints. Get over yourselves. Seriously. I guess this is the reason Fleetwood Mac would never use this as their official site. Not enough TRUE support from REAL fans. Real fans take what they can get and support it any way that they can! It is shameful. If you don't like the way things are on this tour don't GO! Stay at home. PLEASE. The last thing I want to set next to is someone who has nothing, but negative thigns to say about the Mac, or the decisions that they have made.
REAL FANS SUPPORT THEIR BAND! At any cost.
You've got some big brass ones there, my friend. ALL of us here are fans, whether we've been following the band for 3 weeks or 30 years. We wouldn't be here if we weren't. We've all supported this band, whether by buying one CD or 100, going to 50 SYW tour stops or buying the DVD because we couldn't afford the tickets, or whether we have 50 dollars to spend on a seat in the nosebleeds or a couple thousand to shell out for a M&G. I had no idea that Fleetwood Mac was a carnival ride wherein rather than having to be this tall to ride, I have to meet certain income requirements instead.
Our support means we get to have an opinion, whether you like it or you don't, about what the band is doing - after all, it is that support, in the form of our collective hard-earned cash, that has afforded them the long, long career they've enjoyed.
I would certainly hope that FM would prefer to have fans that actually care about what they are doing, and want them to be the best they can be (i.e. put out great music, and rock on with their bad selves for as long as possible while still maintaining their artistic integrity) rather than a horde of mindless drones with no opinions, who slavishly adore every little thing they do, no matter how base or beneath themselves it may be. When you're over the moon about anything they do JUST because it's them doing it, that negates everything they've worked so hard to achieve over the years. When you are fine with everything they do like that, then all you're saying is that you don't care if they try anymore, you don't care if they are happy or motivated or excited, you're fine with seeing them just go through the motions year after year after year. They deserve better than that, and we do, too.
The way this upcoming tour is being handled smacks of money-grubbing no matter which way you look at it, and if you'd take the time to quit frothing at the mouth over what you perceive as insults, you'd notice that what all of these "negative" opinions really boil down to is a large group of devoted Fleetwood Mac fans that are disappointed because we all KNOW Fleetwood Mac is so much better than this.
It's not just complaining that we feel they are treating US badly, because they are treating themselves badly, too.

I totally agree with you, Zombie. The only way that FM can redeem themselves is if, as TrueFaith77 posted, this tour brings back an emotional connection and allows them to write and record new music which they will then tour in support of. If not, there will be many disappointed fans who should be able to voice their disapproval on this board.

Me too David - I saw them for the first time in '97 & Stevie once in '01. After that, I went a little crazy & racked up 5 Mac shows & 4 solo Stevie shows in 3 years. :o For some reason I'm just not that excited this time around & I don't feel it's my duty to keep pouring money into this band. I don't feel taken advantage of or anything, I'm just done. I have other priorities at this point - been there & done that.
Feel free to report my posts to the moderators if you feel I was out of line. I was not nasty to you at all. Just because I disagree with you doesn't mean I'm being uncivilized.
skcin, your point is well-taken with regards to telling people what they should or shouldn't do...
Thanks. I was just expressing my opinion - didn't think it was that big a deal.
Dude, you only registered this month! And you are telling one of the people who has been here longest and is one of the most respected Ledgies around here what this forum is about and how she should post? Are you serious? I didn't think Paula's post was rude at all, but yours certainly is.
Thanks Trackie. I didn't think I was being rude either, but I apologize if some misunderstood.
That's what my plan is too, Camchristo.
But then, I've only bought all the Mac's albums, singles and videos/DVDs, been to see them live numerous times, built up a huge collection of bootlegs and memorabilia, what do I know, I'm not a REAL fan apparently.
Exactly.
As for the 'real fans support at any cause', sorry, never bought into that...I believe 'real fans' also have the right to question certain moves a band makes, even if that may appear to some as being "Not supporting a band and being a fan."
I totally agree.
Thanks to all who defended me. I really don't think I was rude or offensive in any way, but thank you just the same. I appreciate that most of us can disagree but still get along & respect eachother's opinions.

I would just like to see them do shows where everything down to the last little detail and everything they say or do isn't scripted. It's like they're terrified to go off script--someone might say something to or about someone on stage that hasn't been pre-approved by each band member's agent, lawyer, PR person, and/or spiritual advisor beforehand. I want to see genuine emotion, not actors following a script for God's sake.
And re supporting a band? I've been a fan since I was 10 years old. That's over 30 years now and counting. But I will not sacrifice essentials in my life or my family's to support a bunch of multi-millionaires. I support me (and my family) first and everyone and everything else second-and that's the way it should be. I'm not trying to tell anyone how to spend their money--if you've got it to blow-fine, spend it. But don't tell anyone here what we should be doing to "support the band" either.

But if I'd seen them before, I'd have a hard time paying what I did for these tickets. Times are tiiiight folks. If I'd seen them before, I'd probably put my non-existent mortgage payment first too. I don't think anyone should be banned. Esp when alot of us fans have been here longer. Plus I don't think anyone has been rude either. Theres nothing wrong with anyones opinions here to me. Personally, no matter how you have supported Fmac or Stevie etc. through the years you get an opinion. If you can go to next yrs concert by all means go for it...whether its the cheap seats or the expensive ones. I don't feel that 'need' anymore & I don't think it makes me less of a fan cause for many reasons stated in this thread. I've had the pleasure through the yrs to see them....and Stevie. I personally would rather have material that we don't have. The could use there time and resources & material in a more productive manner than they have. Fmac has lost its focus through the years. IMO anyway, its sad really for such a wonderful band. I do agree with Zombie, that 'they' are much better than this really. $$ will call and I guess if it was us we'd possibly do it for that too. I do feel cheated in some ways. Personally, Christine left cause she knew it was time to go. I think she was the smart one of all of them. With all the unreleased material and dvds and outtakes photos etc. They'd not ever have to tour again but touring is where they make there money now. Same for Stevie. She could do tons of releases of her Masters /dvds/outtake photos etc. I'd love that more than a tour of the 'hits' anymore personally.....that makes me excited. Not the rashing of the same old same old. Its only an opinion not a put down. It is what it is....they won't change so I have to change my thinking on all of this ....what I'm willing to spend or not spend anymore. I don't think whatever we do as fans makes us less or more of a fan period. We are people first with choices to make. Some things are more important than others right now. Does that mean we are not fans if we don't see them next yr....I don't think so....anymore than someone that can go to every show a better fan. Personally, this isn't a competition of some sort. At least I don't think so. No offence anyone......

Very well put. You sum up one of the... poignant?... aspects of being a Mac fan. It's also part of what makes them fascinating: that combination of indisputable talents (STILL, after all these years), interpersonal tensions, and economic pressures have resulted in decades of not-quite achieving potential. Just makes my heart ache to think about it.

yes usually they hold the really good seats for the high rollers comp tickets so you have that to deal with plus radio promo tickets and the vip all access tickets as well and the high rollers to get there comp tickets they pick them up the night of the show a few hours before I believe from what I hav heard. and if some of the high rollers dont take the tickets the tickets get thrown in to the system to get sold.

It should afftect any future dates if they or their promoters have any common sense..Maybe it might occur to them that charging those prices in the depths of the worst recession in decades for an all oldies show might not have been such a brilliant notion. The best case scenario would be to complete the scheduled dates cut their losses and go into the studio.

They are surely holding dates at the venue- although they could always be released. All depends on how the tour shakes out. If it ends up being only a 40-45 date tour, I think KC wins out over Omaha.

One thing that annoys me is back when SYW was new Lindsey was all over the Eagles saying how they tour non stop lately with no new material. He even said something to the effect that they were resting on their achievements. And now here they are doing the same thing. I am very disapointed with the way FM is treating the music like an entertainment business. Wasn't it not Mick who said that the music business is more of an entertainment industry and was upset that the idea of actually having the label behind the artist was something that had disapeared. Now here he is along with the other members of FM slapping the fans who were and still are behind them in the face with a blatant cash grab. I guess when you get involved with Irving Azof the dollar signs kick in!
On another note The Eagles have a new album out which is pretty good, but yet the ticket prices are outrageous!!! I can't understand how they think that just because they are playing around 9 new songs from the album Long Road Out of Eden that it is worth it to charge even more money. They play the songs exactly like the album so it not like they are giving you anything more then just a rerun of the songs exactly like you would get on the album. When was the las time they played the Sad Cafe, Doolin Daltin, Disco Strangler, Seven Bridges Road etc?

Matt
I can't deny that I am impressed if they are playing 9 new songs on this tour. Imagine how we would have felt if SYW had played 9 songs from SYW.

They played 8 off of Long Road Out of Eden when I saw them in Pittsburgh in November and I was pretty impressed. Going against the grain of many "older" bands, they actually opened the concert with 4 songs from the new album and then played Hotel California in the 5th spot. The Eagles are notorious for sticking to album arrangements and basically being "boring" in concert but I thought they put on one hell of a show. It's the second time in five years that I saw them and I continue to be impressed with their solid, albeit, well rehearsed and verrrrry polished, performance.
I had pretty good seats to the upper right of the stage and I didn't quite pay $90 each including all fees and taxes. Frankly I have no use to spend hundreds of dollars on a floor seat at a concert. Yeah, it's fun down there, but to be honest, it isn't like the sound is any better down there and if I miss what kind of footwear Stevie has on I'll survive. The only times I've been on the floor were when a friend of mine worked at HSBC Arena in Buffalo and was able to get us onto the floor in the reserved seats, usually about two or three songs into a show. I probably did that for about six concerts while she worked there.

I hope someone did you a big favor and gave you a grammar book for the holiday. Please read it and gain the intellect to communicate with some clarity and dignity. Please!

I'm sorry if that came across as harsh. I actually do text, with very few abbreviated words. I use things like LOL only because they expresses an emotion.
However this forum is a vastly different context compared to texting on a phone. I shudder at the fact that teachers are now seeing text-type bastard language in student papers and written homework. But my main beef is when someone here posts a lowercase ramble with no periods or sense of sentence structure.
What the fuc* is that? Near illiteracy! There is no integrity to the communication, and hence, regardless of whatever garbled point the poster wants to make, I consider it an insult to many of my senses and the respectability of the more literate ledgies.

See? You be using imperfect grammar also.
This is the second time (by my count) that you've unfairly singled out this particular poster. Why? They aren't the only one exhibiting less than scholastically perfect spelling/punctuation/grammar/etc., but you seem to take such personal offense with them- enough to make some rather haughty efforts to embarrass and belittle them.

I think there is a time and a place for good spelling & grammar. This forum isn't it. I tend to write very quickly sometimes when I am posting. I don't bother with all the apostrophes that I should, I don't use capitalisation, and I don't always use commas and full stops where I should. I realise that this can make it hard for other people to read, but as can abbreviations, smileys, and annoying off topic posts. LOL LOL LOL :) :) :) etc (like this).
So were we talking about the poor sales of FM tickets? How about a new topic in the Chit Chat forum - "The Declining Standards of Spelling, Grammar and Politeness in Modern Society" or some such.

The Eagles are notorious for sticking to album arrangements and basically being "boring" in concert but I thought they put on one hell of a show.I think it makes more sense for the Eagles to incorporate a greater number of new songs into their set. Eagles album tracks are much more straightforward than Fleetwood Mac tracks. The former almost always have simpler orchestration, & therefore usually translate into live performance more accurately. It's always been hard for Fleetwood Mac to re-create onstage its studio sonics & arrangements. I think that difficulty has played a part in Fleetwood's decision to keep tours filled mostly with older staples (whose live arrangements have already been "worked out").

While PenguinHead's comments may have been a little harsh, I agree. I’m not suggesting perfect grammar or spelling should be required here (EVERYBODY fails that test at least once), but if it’s hard to understand the point a poster is trying to make due to things like no punctuation or random capitalization of words, then there is an issue.
I mean, at the very core, what do we do on boards like this? Communicate. If the point isn't being made in a way that is easily understood, what tends to not happen? Communication.

Come on, it's not so much what he said it's the condescending way he chose to do it. Personally I thought PH could have "communicated" his point without making the person in question feel like a complete idiot and trying to humiliate them with his oh-so-superior post. It could have either been done in a more friendly manner or, like DavidMn said, in a PM. Beg to differ, and I'll tell you why. Internet forums are not places where ornamental niceties need rule supreme; they're simply communication outposts where ideas and opinions are exchanged quickly and freely. They are also peopled by folks from all over the globe communicating in a single, commonly accepted language. For some, that less-than-stellar English they're witnessing is in reality the achievement of years of hard work (as in a second language). All it takes is one fool to come along to crush the courage of those "testing" international waters with a single, ill thought out missile.
For anyone going back to the Gopher days of Deja and Usenet, you know that prim and proper English - while always pleasant and welcome - has never exclusively acceded to the fore. Much of that often perplexing Net lingo now found in nearly every corner of cyberspace first materialized as an expedient in various labs and educational communities by very accomplished (aka learned) peeps who went on to frame ARPANET, the forerunner to the Internet and WWW. Many there simply dispensed with capitalization and proper sentence case for reasons of expediency and simplification.
While I too decry the increasingly sloppy use of English as seen across the land (first realized well before the Net took hold btw, and mostly due to governmental, "level playing field" edicts and the ensuing fallout), I hardly dial up forums expecting to partake in anything remotely resembling Jeffersonian style exchanges. Some of the smartest folks I've witnessed on help and guidance forums over the years have not been concerned with crossing their T's and dotting their I's; they've figured out that ornamental niceties are trumped by the easy exchange of thoughts and opinions not encumbered by the maddening peculiarities of proper English! Halleluiah!
Finally, I don't care how "educated" or "non-educated" my counterparts are in these kinds of places, whether they're fellow Yanks or foreign born. Why or how does that matter when attending online forums, or in a music arena like this? If there was one thing we all should have learned from September 11th, it was that the erudites depend every bit as much on the working bumpkins as working stiffs depend on the guidance of so called "experts," particularly when push comes to shove. How many times did we witness firemen and security personnel kicking their foots through 2 or 3 inch mortar and plasterboard to save lawyers, bankers, engineers and corporate honchos resigned to a seemingly hopeless and "trapped" fate? I think you read a helluva lot more into my words than what I actually wrote. All I have is a relatively simple request: Let us know where one thought ends and another begins.
I'm not asking for Jefferson or perfect spelling. As I said, we'd all fail that test (some of us miserably).
I understand that English isn't the native tongue of every poster, and I've always had a lot of respect for anybody who has taken up a second language, especially English, which isn't an easy language.
At the same time, we've had a lot of international posters over the years, and they've been able to clearly make their points, even if they don't use "proper" English structures or spell words correctly. Many of these people have been absolute treasures of amazing information.
I don't care so much about the quality of the sentence as much as the quality of the idea, but if I can't figure out that idea from what is written, then communication isn't happening.
And, it doesn't have to be proper to make that happen. I've been on lots of boards where people just hit the "Enter" key after every thought. It may take a while to read their posts, but their ideas get clearly transmitted.
If anything, I see PenguinHead's comments being made out of frustration stemming from seeing a debatable point, but not being sure of how to debate that point. Should it have gone to PM's? Maybe. But, it's not like this board has ever been known to be the kindest place on Earth, though it's a lot tamer now than it was a few years back (the rowdies have their own board now). It's a day at DisneyWorld compared to the old alt.music.fleetwood-mac. You wanna talk about messed up, try having some Neo-Nazi cross-post Nazi crap in your name. You haven't lived until you've had to explain THAT crap to pissed-off Aerosmith fans.
Finally, I think you're being somewhat hypocritical here. On the one hand, you seem to be saying that one fool can "crush the courage" of another poster, but on the other imply "relax, it's just a message board," at least in terms of reaction to language. If it's not that important (and it really isn't), then why should anybody let it crush their courage? And, make no mistake, people DO have control over how they respond to others. Some of us take crap that is flung our way as constructive criticism and learn from it.

I think you read a helluva lot more into my words than what I actually wrote. All I have is a relatively simple request: Let us know where one thought ends and another begins.
My post was more a counter to the line of thinking that effective group communication and exchange spins around prim and proper language use (and in this case, English in all its convoluted glory). Maybe in a more perfect world, but the online world hardly qualifies as such, forums being even further removed. I simply think it is a waste of time to throw out or justify such criticisms. I went and read the "offending" messages and found absolutely nothing that deserved extra scrutiny or censure. All that amounts to is a form of nitpicking. If it's too hard to "decipher" (uh, right, as in moving mountains I suppose), move on to the next post!
However in fairness, I probably should not have cited your post, as most of what you stated was meant to be even-handed. But I do take exception to your point that strictures of these sorts serve a constructive purpose at these kinds of places. If anything, they cause more friction than they're worth (assuming they're meant to move things toward higher ground), for reasons I already put forth. If you want to agree with such criticism as it applies to infinitely more blatant instances (which we have all seen, and where we might find suitable agreement), you should have - at a minimum - made it clear that it hardly applies in this case. I think many of those who commented immediately after PH were far more realistic in their assessments and reactions.
"Crush the courage" - yes I've seen first hand, and on more than one occasion, folks already uneasy with their grasp and command of English throw in the towel when some butt hurt joker blurts out "Say what? Try speak English next time!" or some such petty quip. Don't act like it doesn't happen (and if you haven't witnessed this yet, you haven't been around as much as I thought). Often the "crushed" have more to say, albeit imperfect around the edges, than those smarter-than-thou, reactionary criticizers who seem all too eager to jump their bones at the smallest provocation.
As I see it, places like these should be kept as light and easy and "country" conversant as possible. It serves neither the board or its membership to lose active members over pompous prattle. This place barely sees enough action as it is, and those kinds of put downs rarely help. PenguinHead may be a sharp guy, as I know you are, but in this case he's being blinded by his own light.
PS. I've seen Nazi forum dialogue less bombastic tbk. Pinheadedness comes in a myriad of forms, a common genetic defect found in far too many (one and all?). This may come as news, but the neo-nazis have no corner on that market.

This is certainly not a place where everyone should be required to have perfect spelling and impeccable sentence structure, but I think it'd do us all some good to bear in mind why we have spelling and grammar rules in the first place.
Languages have rules for a reason, and that reason is that it provides us all with a common framework to use when communicating with each other. The common framework ensures that we each are better able to understand what the other is saying without a pile of misunderstandings. This is particularly important in a text-fueled medium like the Ledge.
It doesn't have to be perfect, but if we toss all basic usage out the window and do whatever we want, we then run the risk of no one being able to understand us.
And that's fine - if you do not want people to understand you properly, then rock on with your bad self. For me, I try to keep my posts as concise as possible so I can interact with the rest of you as best I can - otherwise, all the typing of my yippety-yap is a waste of both my time and yours.

FLEETWOOD MAC UNLEASHED: HITS TOUR Nearly six years ago, Fleetwood Mac launched its first tour without deep-voiced Christine McVie since the early ’70s. The loss wound up changing the whole dynamic of the band — and in fascinating ways. Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, as the focal points, related to each other in a way they hadn’t since before they joined Mac back in 1975. That pulled different emotions out of the entire band, while also providing more room for Lindsey’s frenzied and astute guitar solos. Now Mac returns with dates March 13 at Nassau Coliseum, the 19th at the Garden and the 21st in the Meadowlands. Miss them at your own peril.

English is my second language,i'm self taught.
My problem with the teacher at school was, that i didn't care about the rules.
All i wanted was to know how to get the point across.
As for the grammar,i never cared for it in my language, much less in English.
I've picked up words and expressions here and there,so i don't know which comes from UK or US.
My posts must be funny sometimes, including both expressions in the same sentence.
Writing in boards like this,i write as if i'd be talking to you.
I tend not to use much smilies.
I've no idea what spell check is.
I expect all these things to create situations where i'm misunderstood.
Easiest way to fix the problem is for you to say:"What are you trying to say?"
I didn't read beyond this page.Seems there are couple of persons upset over spelling errors.
In boards like this, there are all kinds of people.
That is bound to create situations where people get upset with each other.
When that happens, one should keep in mind,it's just a board.
I rather hope my posts would bring a smile to somebody than to make them angry, but if that happens,i don't care.
Don't take it so seriously.

LOOK- It's Steve, being pushy and know-it-all once again. SNOOT is expressing an opinion and you gotta shut it down. You're like, "The Ledge Bullie" except you don't scar anyone. I like to read how silly and petty you are. Not just you, cause there are a lot of people like you on this site. I once thought it was about Fleetwood Mac, but really it's for you, "know-it-nothings" to brow beat one another. That is hilarious. Thanks for providing some silly entertainment!
LOOK- It's kennation, being stupid and mouthy-twat-ish once again. You're like, "The Ledge Moron" except you eat too much paste. I like to read how ignorant and full of crap you are. And really, it's mainly just you.
(If you wanna get personal, bring it on, 'cause I don't give a crap.)

I like this post because I can clearly understand where one thought ends and another begins. That's all I was asking for. ;)

I wish I were more deft at getting deals. Glad I'm waiting on the other NY shows to see what's available.

The 5 star people get more than just good seats. The 5 star people get entrance before anyone else, get to pre-show party, and a number of other great things. The price is what it is. I enjoy the thought that I will not have to wait outside a venue with everyone else shivering. VERY excited that we have the chance to hang out before the venue is opened to others. Poor sales come from the high price that people aren't willing/able to pay. Price will never keep me away from enjoying one of the greatest rock bands, ever!

The 5 star packages are a rip off!!! You may get all of the above mentioned, but you don't get to meet the band. I don't mind waiting outside if it means saving a ton of money.
I am a huge Melissa Etheridge Fan and she has a similar package for select shows on her tours for around $1000 dollars and it includes hotel, 24 hour on site host preshow party and also a meet and greet with MLE and a personally signed souvineer. Hers is alo very expensive ,but at least it includes a meet and greet and hotel accomidations.

At the last Robert Pollard/Boston Spaceships show in Nashville back in October, in which Bob did a funny rant about me (stating I was in it for the MILF...funny stuff), I had a little accident after the show and had to go to the hospital (required 12 stitches above my left eye).
Hospital co-pays: $235
Hotel: $116
Gas: $100
Dog Kennel: $40
Booze: $30
Ticket: $15
Juices and water: $8
Subway: $5
TOTAL $549
While I didn't get a meet and greet, I did get a "Steve, you really need to go to the hospital" from the band and associates (I wasn't necessarily cooperative). And, I went drinking with Bob and friends three days later (living in Dayton has its perks). I also learned that Baptist's grits were disappointing for Tennessee grits. Two weeks later, John Moen (Spaceships' drummer) was on Conan O'Brien with the Decembrists.
Now, on Saturday (if the show isn't sold out), I'll be meeting Chris Hillman of the Byrds/Flying Burrito Bros. It's a bluegrass show. He's playing here in Dayton at a small bar, and tickets are $20.
So, I sometimes go drinking with my favorite singer/songwriter and I'm about to meet a key member of two of my favorite bands. All for under $600. And, that's altogether. Tickets were combined only $35.
That's why I couldn't imagine paying $1000+ just to get in the venue early, get honestly not that close to the band, meet Mick Fleetwood (who I've already met), and see a band do a bunch of songs I've heard a million times.

Who has to wait outside the venue? These aren't general admission shows.

Yes. They seem to open most venues an hour or two before the show is scheduled to start.
