"We know the songs. We've been playing them for 30 years." Yes. We know.
With regard to the "all of Fleetwood Mac's big radio hits" comment, a good chunk of those belong to CHRISTINE who is not touring with you. Oy. I love these two to pieces but sometimes they're just living in la la land. I would happily sit through some new old never been played songs. What hits are they going to play that didn't get done on the last tour?

Gypsy, Seven Wonders, Freedom, maybe Big Love with the full band.

Gypsy was done on the SYW tour. The rest would be cool as Seven Wonders has never been done live with Lindsey.

Bless their hearts....
I, for one, will always show up to hear whatever it is they want to play. I don't seem to care WHAT they play; I just want it to be played WELL. And with passion.
However, I imagne this interview will be a nice topic of conversation for those who yearn for more. It's just "this tour only" though, so hang in there! lol

Wow, they've really convinced themselves that a greatest hits tour has never ever been undertaken by a 'classic rock' band.

Am i sensing some negativity?
It's mockery.
However, I do think that's what they mean by the title. When they say: And not put ourselves in the pressure of trying to redefine ourselves with new material." I think clearly that there's where the title comes from, being released from or "unleashed" from the pressure that they supposedly felt.
I bet when the interviewers ask them what the title "unleashed" means point blank, that's what they'll say in response.
Looking at this ET thing (and I assume maybe they'll be on ET tonight, so I'm going to tape the show), I just recently got a press junket DVD with interviews Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny did earlier this year. They just sat in one room all day and did interview after interview and I just got to watch the whole thing, basically, just the 2 of them answering the questions without having to see the particular interviewer. I would love to have something like that for FM. It can be very interesting.

Well, Careful what ya wish for, i just saw an access Hollywood clip of Both lins and Stevie in the same room wearing the same thing, talking about the Buckingham nicks cover. Oooh, I want to see that. I've never seen them together talking about the BN album cover together. In fact, except for remarking on the album at one of his concerts, I don't think I've ever heard Lindsey say anything about the album cover. I've just heard Stevie. Many times.

I guess that's the official FM black uniform. They seem a bit tense, no? Anyway, I'm glad they're in good terms enough to tour together, and the phrase on a possible new album in the future is promising.

I think that's what they're doing here. Because they're both dressed really well and are both done up (esp. Stevie), so i believe that is what they did. Although they could also be doing a photo shoot as well. I mean, i think they are doing more than just ET here because they are both very well put together cosmetically, so that's what i think they were doing.

I wish we could see all of it. The outtakes and everything.
I bet as the tour rolls from town to town, the local tv stations in the venue cities will have snippets from this same day too.
Last time they toured, they did Dateline. I wonder if they can get some press like that this time around, with John and Mick too.

What a joke really.....I'm happy I'm not gonna spend the $$ on this tour......how sad really.....totally sad .....I guess they all need the $$ badly...IMO anyway......just some thoughts.....:confused:

True, I don't think people liked Red Rover that much, but the other new songs (not counting the ones that were cut from the set) went over ok. I don't think it was a gigantic challenge for them to incorporate them into the set.
Actually, the fan reception is probably not why we're not getting new music right now. It's just the cover story.

Wow, 30 songs? In Stevie speak though that means they have a list of 30 songs to choose from and go from there. But I could be wrong. If not, definitely enough room for SOTM. In my opinion, if Stevie can have high energy songs like FFG or Rock and Roll, I don't see any reason why SOTM could not be included in the new set.

Agreed. Sisters of The Moon would be soooooo cool. I mean, if its given the same treatment that Gold dust woman is, built up to be all angsty and mystic with dramatic lighting and witchy moves and new ad libs. I could really see that being a favorite of this tour.

Oh definitely. It would be the highlight and the crowd would go nuts.
Since they are doing the familiar hits, it would be awesome if they played up the dramatic lighting and mood to make them more intense and memorable. I really hope they do this right and not take the easy way out.
In the ET interview Stevie did say 3 days of production rehearsals and to me that means full dress rehearsal with outfits and moves. They should have enough time to rehearse. They start on Jan 5 and trucks go out on Feb 22, to me that sounds like enough time to work in at least SOTM or Seven Wonders or Little Lies or something.

Oh, you know, I didn't think about it like that. Stevie could have meant, that there are some out there that looked "worse" in her eyes and the one that made the cover was the one where Lindsey's hair is placed just right. hmmm, makes you wonder.
Sometimes I do wonder if Stevie protests publicly about that cover because of family, etc...
All I could think about while watching this... is oh boy... here we go again with the drama and fearing a big argument down the line in 5 months to squash the summer plans and possible CD. (must not think negative... only positive thoughts).

I totally agree! Come and Say Goodbye were just not good choices to do live. That's why people went for beer, bathroom breaks during them, not because they were "new". I think the audience should be given a little more credit than that. Had they decided to do more fun and accessible (to quote Mr. Buckingham) songs such as Running through the Garden, Destiny Rules, Everybody Finds Out or Steal your Heart Away, perhaps the response would have been more favorable. I think new songs are fine, as long as they're selected wisely.

I remember even on family photos they would do things to them. I have a portrait from when I was 5 years old and I'm sure it looked fine to my parents then, but when I look at it in retrospect, it looks like someone took a crayon to it. It actually seems like I'm wearing make up. The photo studio retouched the coloring and kind of painted out stray wisps of hair.

Yes! I think they call it "tinting". I have photos from the '20's and '30's of my grandmother and her family where they used that technique. No doubt by the time the BN 70's cover shoot was done, photography touch ups had been perfected even more....enough to where Lindsey's hair could be made to appear longer than it was. ;)

I remember that working out well on the Stevie Nicks/Don Henley "Two Voices" tour. It was a total surprise, starting with Stevie walking out on "Hotel California" and Don singing on "Gold Dust Woman." The audience went nuts. I don't think GDW worked out as well as Hotel California did. But yeah, Stevie coming out for that song was sensational. People who were there the first night and didn't know about it in advance must have been absolutely bonkers. I mean, going in blind, I would expect them to duet at some point, but not at that juncture. Michele

This is potentially very frightening but probably very close to what they're planning on doing. Since this is the "Hits" tour and many of the hits were Christine's songs, I am wondering how many of her songs they'll end up doing and who will be doing the vocals. During the whole Sheryl Crow discussion a few months back, I think either Stevie or Lindsey mentioned that one of the background vocalists would be singing Christine's parts. I was actually playing FM's Best of CD's in my car the other day and trying to envision Stevie and Lindsey singing Christine's songs live. I think it depends on the song. I think it would work with some of her songs but definitely not all.

I think that we sometimes allow ourselves to be really hard on people, and sometimes bring ourselves down in the process.
This band has given 30+ years of themselves, creativity, and energy. If they want to take it easy and just play what they love then... I am there. If they are playing what THEY enjoy, I am sure you will find that they will play it better. I guess I am one of those hardcore fans who just want to see them together and want to experience it with other people who feel the same.
Personally, I do not care what is on the set list, new or old- or who wrote it. I am just there for an atmosphere that I have grown to depend on for nearly half of my life. It is the experience of seeing Stevie step up to a microphone draped in chiffon. It is the intensity Lindsey has when he tears a guitar apart! I look forward to these things. This is why I pay the big money, and why I am never dissapointed.
So, let's hope that THEY are "UNLEASHED" from the restraints of what is expected; and hope they actaully have a GREAT time doing what they love to do.

Eh, I don't think they enjoy it all that much.
But nevertheless, I probably will.

Honestly, Michele, I look at it like a job. They do this job how many nights in a row? It's like serving tables. (Hold on this analogy may get a little, "if-y"...) I serve tables, and it's exhausting. However, I like doing it. I mean, it's still work, but on some level... I enjoy it. I am in school to do other things, but I think I will always serve tables. So, to me, FM is just doing their job. Since it is a job that they like they are able to enjoy it more. So, if they decide what THEY want to do and do it the way THEY want, then maybe it will be great. Again, it's just my opinion. Doesn't mean much, but there ya go. (Some reasoning behind my mad comment. LOL)

Well, I think Lindsey definitely enjoyed his GOS tour and UTS as well. I think Stevie loved touring with Tom Petty. Whether they will love or enjoy this Unleashed thing is a different story and I don't buy this thing about them feeling liberated about not having a new album. I don't think that's making it exciting for them at all.
But my feeling is that they don't have to like it, as long as I do and I'm sure I will! Same thing goes for Christine. I don't care about her being at peace and happy. I'd rather she leave me at peace and happy.

HAHAHAH!, Michele, you crack me up. I am all about watching the artist do what they do, and enjoy it. Once I went to see Cher and that lady was DRAGGIN!!!! You could tell she hated it. Since then, I have really watched artists closely.
Now, I can't say that I share your opinion about Christine, but I am ok with her not being there.
Ya know what I am growing tired of reading??? "This is all about money... I can't afford it... I am not paying that much to hear RUMOURS, all over!!!" It makes me sad that these people don't have the money, but that also means that if you don't go then they will stop charging as much.
You know that I bought an ILAA package w/Meet and Greet so- I can not afford to eat for the next two months, but I did it because I know they will rock.
I did it because it's FLEETWOOD MAC and I am complaining~ unless they cancel the tour, lol...

I saw the SYW show quite a few times, first and second leg, and I never felt that the performances were flagging, so I have high hopes like you do. I guess the lure and adrenalin involved in performing for a live audience is always exciting and enjoyable for them. It's just the other stuff that's attendant with a tour that gets to be a bit much, especially when there's no camraderie in the band to make all that time on the road pass more quickly. But the exhilaration of playing large venues is sure to rev them up, when they're in front of us, at least. When the stage is dead and empty and the band has all gone home . . . that's when the unhappiness begins!
Kennation,
I first saw Cher in 1978 and I last saw her this September. I didn't get the feeling she wasn't up for the show, but I did notice she spent a LOT of time off stage. Of course, I forgave her because she had a tribute to Sonny in the show that moved me no end. Keep in mind, she's always had a Sonny tribute in her show, so I was just expecting more of the film clips she'd been using for decades. But she had the Caesar's Palace set and staging to work with this time and that allowed her to use videos of him the size of buildings. In addition to playing one of my favorite songs of his (no, not Needles and Pins): It's the Little Things, a song I never hear out in public. So, I guess I was so wrapped up in that nostalgia that I didn't pay attention to Cher's energy level, or lack thereof:lol:.
Regarding Christine, I don't know if that came out the reverse of what I intended or not. When I said I wanted her to leave me at peace, I meant I want her to come back, because I'm not at peace with her gone. I want her to return and perform with them just once more, to say goodbye. I don't care if she's happy in retirement or not, I'm not happy in her retirement.

The last time (& I mean the last time) I saw Fleetwood was in Orange County in 2003. I just about fell asleep -- in the front row. I could see that petrifaction had set in (in them, not necessarily in me).

Making a list of George and Doug's favorite snacks, the better to lure them away.

My God she doesn't age! They both look fantastic...I'm glad to see Lindsey's hair isn't as bushy...he was starting to remind me of Art Garfunkel for a while there....don't get me wrong, his 'fro back in the 70s was insanely hot...but not so much anymore....
