View Full Version : Stevie to Lindsay Lohan - "You know I'm not dead yet"

Perez Hilton posted a new tidbit on his website about Lindsay Lohan's obsession to play Stevie in a movie (which was talked about roughly 2 years ago), so in a new interview (which will probably be published soon), Stevie responded again. Here's what the post said:
We are soooo excited to see Stevie Nicks and the rest of Fleetwood Mac in concert next year!
Tickets for their tour go on sale this Monday, the 15th. We've set all sorts of reminders to go off that day so we don't get screwed out of tix!
Also, a friend of ours was recently chatting with the legendary Miz Nicks and they got to talking about Lindsay BiHan's obsession to play her in a movie.
"She's been saying that for years. I have nothing against her but I'm still living and working. You know I'm not dead yet," said Stevie.
You got that, Linds?
Chill for now.
We don't know if we'll ever be ready for Firecrotch's portrayal of Stevie.
Just the thought of LezLo's cover of Stevie's Edge of Seventeen makes our skin crawl!

I actually think Lindsay Lohan be a good choice, she so pretty, she's a huge fan and can sing a very little....I thank her for saying this publically a few times, keeps the idea in the news....Who else do you think would be a good pick?

She looks nothing like Stevie. Let us all hope that if a film were ever to be made that they find someone with talent, strength, and vulnerability. Lohan has none of these.

Hello Peeps!
Anyone ever heard of the movie “What’s Love Got To Do With It?” Stevie doesn’t have to be dead in order for a movie to be made about her. Stevie is in fact older now than Tina Turner was when that movie was made about her. I also think you guys are being way too hard on Lindsay Lohan. True, these past few years have been a rocky road for Lindsay but she seems to be heading back on the right track, though I don’t really follow her. Prior to her recent troubles these past few years she had received good reviews for most of her movies – she at least (unlike a lot of her peers) can act. I think we are forgetting about the time when Stevie’s life was not so in control, it’s just that it wasn’t splashed all over TV and the Internet the way it is nowadays. Give Lindsay a break – she is a fine actress. The mere fact she wants to play Stevie is a good thing.

I couldn't disagree with you more on ALL these counts LOL. Look at her on the cover of her album "A Little More Personal" and tell me she doesn't look like Stevie there. With the right make up and hair she could be a dead ringer for Stevie.
And I disagree with your summation of her acting skills too. I think she's a fine actor, how many of her films have you seen? I'm not a big fan of her music at all, but even Stevie says she's a great actor. Plus, she REALLY wants the part... I'm sure she's well studied on it, and has had years of preparing for it. Not to mention her dubious notoriety would bring big buzz if a movie were ever made... and no doubt, comparisons between the two women would be made. Lindsay could really change her image and be taken seriously if she did this movie, and knocked it out of the park.
Bu if you're simply judging Lindsay on her personal life and tabloid blunders, you should consider this: how much of an angel is Stevie? Back in the day, I'm sure Stevie could have done Lindsay under the table in regards to drug intake, promiscuous sex, and general celebrity craziness (such as having your hotel suites repainted and fitted with pianos every night of your tours). I doubt Lindsay has had 4 abortions either. It sounds like I'm a big Lindsay fan, which really, I'm not. I just believe we should give people credit where it's due.
Why would someone even allow Lindsay Lohan to play Stevie? She looks nothing like her.

Since when is that license for an actor not getting a role? It’s Hollywood – and you have make up artists that take care of actors looking the way they are supposed to for a role.

and quite a bit older than Loretta Lynn was in 1980 when Sissy Spacek won an Oscar for portraying Loretta in Coal Miner's Daughter.I think with the right director and a good script Lohan could pull it off .She is not the greatest actress out there but she certainly can act much better than just about any of her singer/actress/tabloid fixture peers.

Better choice? I'd like to see Helena Bonham Carter :blob2:or Keira Knightley. :blob1:Why even Britney Spears is a better choice than Lohan now that she's getting help. She might come from white trash but at least she cleans up nice.

Well, I stand by my statement.
Another difference between the 2. Lohan courts the tabloids and paparazzi. Without her shananigans she'd have no visibility or career for that matter.
Stevie lived her wild life in private. She let her work speak for itself. She has so much talent that she did not have to court the media and beg for attention. And yes I have seen Lohan's work.
I thinl Alicia Silverstein (is that the right last name) looks more like Stevie than anyone and is a better actress than Lohan.
But hey to each their own.

The bottom line is that Lindsay Lohan might slightly pass for a Stevie, but she does not have the voice of a Stevie. They're not even close, and you'd need to find that in an actress above all other things, in my opinion.

<i>Mean Girls</i> was an adorable movie, and Lohan was good in that.
But I do not want to see her try to play Stevie in ANYTHING. If she truly had some respect for Stevie, or was an actual fan of Stevie's music, why the <i>hell</i> did she butcher Edge the way she did? That was completely inexcusable, seriously.
Also, while Stevie did enough blow in her day to fell an army, I can't recall her ever getting out of a limo and flashing her crotch to photographers even once, let alone repeatedly. Be wild all you want, just have some class.

But Lohan loses on all fronts it is not just the looking like Stevie part. You need to have something to play the part, either the look or the a ting/singing chops. Lohan has none of those things.

Lohan offends my eyes and ears, so to have Stevie say she doesn't want anyone to play her yet, is fine with me. And if someone out there must portray Stevie, please, by all that is sacred and holy, do not choose Lohan. She's crass, can't act, can't sing, and she has zero mystique. She isn't an enigma, she isn't a leader. She's a follower. Stevie most certainly leads people. She's a poet. What is Lohan? A washed up, attention-seeking, junkie 'actress'. I think Stevie deserves quite a bit more than her.
And she looks zero like her. I look more like Stevie and my resemblance to her is nil...

In an interview published Thursday, The New York Times asked the 60-year-old Fleetwood Mac singer -- who battled a drug and alcohol addiction -- about reports that Lohan, 22, wants to buy the rights to Nicks' life story and play her on film.
"Over my dead body," Nicks snapped. "She needs to stop doing drugs and get a grip. Then maybe we'll talk."

I think because Lindsay was so confident in her ability to play Stevie and portray her life story, when in fact, the only person who can know Stevie's life story is Stevie herself. I think Stevie was offended that Lindsay was going around saying this without asking Stevie for her approval, so this is why Stevie's being so bitchy.

I think Christina Applegate would be the PERFECT person to play Stevie Nicks in a movie. I have heard Stevie say the "we're not dead yet.." all the more reason to do it NOW...while you can still "approve" it. I think if a movie was done now..w/the perfect person cast as her...not necessarily Applegate...w/Stevie involved in the entire production..this could open up an entirely new audience for her...so many more people would appreciate and relate to her...personally and professionally.. i think it would be a perfect career move for her at 61 years old and STILL in the limelight...not after she is no longer here...that is senseless. The name of the movie......"Out Of The Darkness" or "After The Glitter Fades." Should I call Spielberg? OR better yet..Stevie herself?? We start production next week!! LOL!!

How do you know she did not already try and was rebuffed?
I think La Nicks' obvious disdain for LL stems from a personal issue with LL. I think LL was rude to La Nicks in a drug fit. It is rather inconceivable that they did not meet as LL covered EO17. La Nicks has pretty much met everyone else who covered her songs
In the end, no matter what La Nicks does to help LL now, she will get burned. Addicts are like that

I highly doubt this. It would make no sense on LL’s part to rebuff any advice that Stevie wanted to give her if in fact she wanted to play Stevie in a movie. Besides, if that were true, I think Stevie would have mentioned that she in fact did reach out to Lindsay, so I don’t think she has. There are now articles of her surfacing that she is now dissing Britney. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love Stevie but these comments she is making regarding Lindsay and Britney are unprovoked. It makes Stevie look and seem “old and crabby”, which ironically is how she described herself in an 1981 interview regarding how she may end up. I love Stevie but she needs to relax. Madonna is a supporter of Britney and I wonder how long it will be before Madge takes a jab at Stevie. I would hate to read that because no doubt, it will be a clever diss. Stevie just needs to chill out.

Keira Knightley?! My God, no!
I'm not sure who could play Stevie. Yes, Lindsay Lohan is a pretty good actress given the right material but I'm just not sure about her. Maybe Michelle Williams? She's a fantastic actress and has a good voice too. Anyone who needs convincing of her abilitiesjust watch the scene in Brokeback Mountain where she is sitting at the table when Heath Ledger walks out the door.
What nobody has mentioned so far about both the Tina Turner and Loretta Lynn films is that they were both entirely based upon their own memoirs that dealt with her early success and marriages ( Coal Miners Daughter and 'I, Tina') and that that gives the film some very good source material to work with and direct creative input from the artist. Stevie hasn't written a book like that so I don't think the films can really be compared.

The fact is...........Stevie Nicks DOESN'T want Lindsey Lohan to play her!!!!!! That speaks volumes:):):)
I think Alicia Silverstone could play Stevie or some unknown actress who looks like Stevie and can SING!
I sincerely doubt Stevie wants ANY movie made about her right now. It will be years before that happens. I think she will fight anyone who tries to make a movie on her life. Probably, why it hasn't happened yet.

For some reason I think Drew Barrymore would be a good casting choice- she and Stevie both have a certain kind of old-Hollywood-porcelain-doll quality about them physically. Lindsay, Keira, Kate Hudson, etc., are too "sultry" and/or too angular in their features; in a sense, they are too pretty in the conventional sense. Plus I happen to think that Drew is a pretty decent actress when she's given something other than a chick flick romantic comedy; I'm looking forward to seeing her in Grey Gardens.

. . . but these comments she is making regarding Lindsay and Britney are unprovoked . . . .
I think she disses LL.
I do not think she disses BS. In the last interviews, she says she feels sorry, empathizes, whatever for BS because BS started so young, an that usually leads to a bad situation for people. She also said that BS, a POP star, never went down the raod to be a ROCK star. She said they took different paths. In previous interviews as well as current ones, La Nicks has said she hopes BS gets her act together because the world needs her, etc. Many years ago, La Nicks slammed the late 2003 Madonna kiss as a pathetic attempt at publicity, etc. But, that is what it was. And, even then, she pondered whether BS could overcome it. note, BS' career began to tank shortly thereafter when she married Jason Allen Alexander on January 3, 2004 in Vegas. The marriage lasted 55 hours. i submit by that time BS apparently was crazy on drugs and/or had severe mental problems, most of which likely came from being a child star  I think people are trying way too hard to make that into some hellacious cat fight. But, people see what they want to see despite what was actually said.
As for La Nicks' reaching out to LL. I envisioned something along the lines of the two being in the same place/event and LL being too cool for the room and snubbing La Nicks, possibly because LL was too high, etc. This is just my opinion though.

This from Yahoo 04/10/2009: LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Rock legend Stevie Nicks is sounding off on reports that Lindsay Lohan wants to buy the rights to the Fleetwood Mac singer's life story and play her on the big screen.
"Over my dead body," Nicks told The New York Times Thursday when asked about reports that the young actress was eager to play her.
VIEW THE PHOTOS: Celeb Groupies: Stars Who Love Rock N' Roll Stars!
Adding, "She needs to stop doing drugs and get a grip. Then maybe we'll talk."
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Lindsay's new film, "Labor Pains," will not be released in theaters. Instead, the comedy will premiere on ABC Family, a source for the film's production company, Nu Image/Millennium Films, confirmed to Access.
*** My take on this is that legally, Lindsey could pull this off and do an "unauthorized" movie/bio of Stevie and there's not much Stevie could do about it. Problem however, is that the movie would have to be vetted for accuracy  and you just know that Stevie  would look at it and go, "This ain't true and this is not what happened." Meanwhile, the entertainment and copyright lawyers are getting richer, Stevie is aggravated and Lindsey Lohan is going broke trying to finance & distribute this thing!!! Without Stevie's blessing ( at least while she's alive to dispute the "facts, " this dog is not going to hunt and the project is once again going nowhere!! Its about as dead in the water as a Somali Pirate Boat with the HMS Stevie's guns targeted on LL's ass as she tries to get this project off the ground. Are LL fans even interested in Stevie anyway. Aren't they about 15-20 years old?? Actually, Stevie is correct in saying that the only way this could get done is "over her dead body" since Stevie would have the ultimate say in how this project goes and she wields too much power in Hollywood to allow this to ever go. When she's gone, its a whole other story. Its not that much different than Carol Ann's book last year where it took literally years for it to get published since Lindsey's lawyers were all over it. This would not be that different and I can see Stevie being a "veritable" pitbull and rightfully so. If you think about it, her image and likeness and songs (obviously) are all she really has in this world and she has an absolute right to protect them. Now if she would just get off her A** and get her own Autobio done, we'd all be happier campers than worrying about LL. *****

I don't blame Stevie for what she said about Lohan. Lohan needs to get it through that thick, drugheaded skull of hers that Stevie absolutley does not want her to play her in any movie at all. What is wrong with this girl? She doesn't even look anything like Stevie, and she certainly can't sing like her at all.....But I have a feeling I know what she will try to pull.....she'll make a film where it's a portral of Stevie Nicks but her name won't be Stevie in the movie....and it will have some similarity to Stevie's own life.....Let's hope she doesn't do that. Stevie still has "A Long Way To Go" in this life of hers, and she never even wrote a book about herself. And all we know about Stevie is things she's said in interviews. Lohan, needs to get some help before she goes any further with her "acting career". That mother of hers is no help either. She's just as bad as she is. I just don't like that whole family, they have some major issues and they need to get their sh*t straightened out. Sorry, but this makes me mad.

Will somebody please pay attention to Stevie Nicks?
She attacks Britney Spears. She attacks Linday Lohan. She attacks Botox.
Stevie Nicks always struck me as being high maintenance. Great voice. Nice songwriter. Nuttier than a peanut plantation.
Might have been the cocaine.
Might have been the tranquilizers.
Might have been born that way.
I’m a fan. Nobody’s perfect.
But she’s 60 now and in the past month she has sounded like the lady down the street who always threatened to keep the ball if it rolled into her yard.
On Britney Spears: “You have to pay your dues to be a real rock star. It’s different in that Britney did not join a band when she was 18 and practice every day for five hours Monday through Friday and then play gigs Friday, Saturday and Sunday.”
Yea, that Spears has only been working professionally since she was 11. Slacker.
On Lindsay Lohan: “She needs to stop doing drugs and get a grip.”
Pot, kettle.
On Lindsay Lohan playing her in a movie: “Over my dead body.”
Always good to see a veteran cheer on a newcomer.
On modern technology: “I believe that computers have taken over the world. I believe that they have in many ways ruined our children. I believe that kids used to love to go out and play. I believe that social graces are gone because manners are gone because all people do is sit around and text. I think it’s obnoxious.”
The wheel is also a bad idea.
On Botox: “Botox is becoming the new face of beauty and it’s unfortunate because it makes everybody look like Satan’s children.”
It is not that I agree or disagree with any of what she is saying. It just seems that she has turned from this cutting edge, new age hippie into my grandmother.
And she is using this to sell tickets to her first concert tour in ages.
And here is really what is bad with this: It works.
We’re the old people now.
And if that ball lands on my side of the fence, I swear to God I’m keeping it.

It's always laughable when a "journalist" attacks someone without getting the facts straight. For example, La Nicks has toured or at least had a few concerts pretty much every year since 1997. That hardly qualifies as "her first concert tour in ages." Moreover, La Nicks did not attack Brittany Spears. She merely compares the two different paths they each took to get stardom, La Nicks' star is in the galaxy of rock and roll and BS' is in the galaxy of pop stardom. Moreover, La Nicks has consistently said in the past and currently that the world needs BS and her music and that she hopes BS finds her way through this. Finally, It get that she disses LL, but LL is the one going around in the past saying she wanted to play La Nicks in a movie. La Nicks never really brings this up on her own. Rather, she responds to it when asked. And, her tone, despite what these idiots spin it to, usually is joking as it was on the recent Fallon show and elsewhere. If you listen to these fools, you'd think La Nicks was foaming at the mouth to give these alleged diatribes

Better choice? I'd like to see Helena Bonham Carter :blob2:or Keira Knightley. :blob1:

oh HELL yes! Love Helena.. she's so intense sometimes. But is really just a lovely English old lady at heart.
Kiera Knightley is far far faaaar too sweet. Don't think she could pull it off. At all. She'd be a great Carol Ann though ;)
A completely random choice for me here but.. Michelle Williams? She'd NAIL it. Dont rule out Cristina Ricci either. That blonde hair in Black Snake Moan was smokin'!! :D And, she'd make a really really good hand of it I think..

Just thought I'd throw another name out there for you guys worried about who looks enough like Stevie to play her in the movie...should it be done right now.
How about Taryn Manning? She could play a younger Stevie, anyway. I have several
pictures of her where she resembles Buckingham Nicks era Stevie. And she is a singer
(Boomcat). She got rid of all of her tattoos a year or so ago. I used to joke with my friends that manning looks like the love child of Stevie and Liz Phair. Maybe Phair could be considered to play an era of Stevie's life. Like Bob Dylan, it might be a role too big for one actress to handle.

Singer-songwriter Stevie Nicks feels that troubled actressLindsay Lohan should spend time in a hospital to sort things out.
The " Fleetwood Mac" singer was also a cocaine addict in the 1980s and she had spent a fair bit of time in rehab.
"Do I feel like the godmother to Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, etc? Yes. But like Amy Winehouse, they're not listening. Lohan, listen to me, you are still capable of being a great actress, but only if you really want to do it and spend a year in a hospital," thesun.co.uk quoted Nicks as saying.
"I do think they should have learned from my generation of rock stars, but nobody ever does. I should have learned myself from Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin, but I didn't. I don't think anyone can tell a drug addict to stop," added Nicks.

A year in the hospital? I think Lindsay should, but I wonder how Stevie came up with that time frame. She wasn't in rehab a year.

She probably thinks LL is really far gone and if I were her I'd listen to Stevie. On the other hand, she's right: you can't tell an addict to stop. The addict him/herself needs to hit rock bottom.

Someone mentioned Kiernan Shipka to me as a young Stevie portrayer, at least visually I think it'd be a very workable pick. She's a good young actress, although her character is pretty different from what I know of Stevie's personality.

A very intelligent and thoughtful article. Stevie knows how to talk to people without sounding patronizing and condesending because she was treated this way. ("Do not condesend to me!")

Whenever I hear about Stevie Nicks I have to relate a story that shows her true colors to be nothing more than Hollywood trash. I was working at a veterinary hospital in Sherman Oaks, CA during the 90's and she came in one late night after hours. She was working late at night at a recording studio and her little dog (now the dog was cute...which turned out to be perfectly fine, by the way) accidentally got caught in a closing door. She wreaked of alcohol and acted like she was coke'd up as well. She was obviously impared, having to be helped out of her long white limo. Long story short, she said she didnt have any cash on her and just to send her the bill. Not only would she pay it, but she'd send us an signed copy of the album she was working on. Well multiple letters were sent, multiple calls were ignored and I finally gave up. The $60.00 emergency fee was not worth going through small claims court. To this day, however I never miss the opportunity to let people know about the real Stevie Nicks. I've had quite a few experiences like that while growing up in Hollywood. You cant hear a few nice chord progressions and come to the conclusion that a person is "classy" You still owe me $60.00 you old piece of dried up Hollywood leather!

^ Oh dear. Somebody has a chip on their shoulder. I'm never one to say Stevie is undeserving of criticism, but in this case, if that story's true, I'mma stick by her.
Someone acts like utter crap while clearly drunk/high/whatever, it's absolutely off-putting, but it in no way reflects that person's "true colours", and it certainly doesn't warrant writing them off as "trash" and saying so to everyone who will listen for over a decade. Jeesh.
I work for the NHS. I get that kind of thing from people sometimes too. If I got so bent out of shape every time someone was acting disorderly under the influence while in a high-pressure situation, I'd... well, I'd be an idiot with a willful ignorance of what goes on in the hearts and minds of people. But perhaps working in a veterinary hospital affords that luxury.
The $60 is obviously due to a communication breakdown somewhere. I have a hard time believing even the trashiest of Hollywood types wouldn't fork over $60 for a vet bill if it was brought to their attention in sobriety.

John Diamond used to complain about the NHS when he was dying. He had separate insurance mind you, so he didn't even use the services, but that didn't keep him from being critical. I didn't think his comments were necessarily fair, but they did make me laugh, even through tears. I still miss him after all of this time.
Anyway, people love to denigrate celebrities. Often if they don't have something to negative to say, they make it up. Makes them feel important.

I'd love to hear what his comments were, Michele. I'm always interested in what people have to say about the NHS. Much of it is completely unfair, yes, but much of it isn't. What's also unfair is the general British population's resistance to any talk of reforming it. The system is designed for medicine as it was in the 1950s, and it's in dire need of an update.
*gets down from soapbox*
I'd take Jennifer Lawrence as Stevie Nicks for sure. She's just great. But I kind of hope the general population moves on from biopic-mania. Biopics are just dull. Watch a documentary, or watch an originally-scripted movie that isn't banking on being "based on a true story" while also reserving the right to be considered completely fictitious. This "Oho, it's all true! Except for the part that aren't true! ;)" thing biopics have going on is just really annoying.
Oh yeah, I was getting down from my soapbox, wasn't I?

Well, Diamond was sick for four years and each time he had a surgery or treatment he and his wife got to weigh Quality of Life v. how much longer he'd be getting to live, etc. Obviously, he and Nigella had resources, so the cost of the treatment wasn't an issue for them. He complained that the NHS would have taken all of these decisions out of his hands and told him what treatment he was getting (or not getting) like it or not. Plus, they wouldn't even have let him pay extra if he WANTED to and could.
He didn't understand why the useless facilities were allowed to exist at the expense of the ones that were actually efficient and could use more money to do good work, as opposed to throwing good money after bad on the ones that weren't offering anything worthwhile.
But his scathing humor was mostly spent on the lack of bedside manner that the NHS doctors and nurses possessed or so he claimed. He thought all doctors were indifferent at best, giving you the worst news without a hint of humanity, let alone compassion. But he thought NHS doctors and nurses were actively rude or malicious and he would basically write up entire little skits about exchanges with them. Obviously, it was exaggerated to humorous effect, but the apathy I encountered from physicians a few years later when my dad had a stroke (here in the U.S. at the University of Chicago) actually reminded me a lot of the things Diamond had groused about.

I totally agree, and mostly, I just don't like Reese as an actress and her playing Stevie would be one of the worst choices for the role in my opinion. Jessie of course is a singer/songwriterand not an actress, and while I like to throw her picture out there, it is totally unrealistic that she play Stevie.
If a movie is ever made, I just feel it's really important to find someone who looks the part, who can sing Stevie's songs, who has the Stevie stage presence thing down, and not just some blonde that Stevie likes as a friend or who has a famous name.

Actually, I think Kristin Stewart could probably do a really good job of playing Stevie, she has the quirky beauty, she can sing, she has presence and age will only make her better. Also, she seems to live along the sames lines Stevie does....just my opinion, but I bet Stevie would put KS on her short, short list. You don't have to like an actor personally to watch them play a great part. If I were an actress going up for the role of Stevie Nicks, I'd bite, kick, scream...not really, but can you even imagine playing the part!

I think Kristen Stewart can do some things well, but I don't think she has a lot of diversity. I saw Welcome to the Rileys at an early film festival, but when Gandolfini died, I went back and watched it again and I was struck at how moving Kristen could be in some moments, but how flat she fell in others. She could be very effective in a script that plays to her talents, but don't know if she can play a person whose mood is all over the spectrum.

She's not even Bella really and that wasn't a fully-fleshed three-dimensional character to begin with, but she had more facets than Kristen gave her. Yet, I think she did Bella's equanimity well and, when she was good, was much stronger than her male co-stars so...
It would be interesting to see who Stevie has as a second choice, after Reese.
Now, none of us would have picked Vera Farmiga for Christine, but I'm excited about it, because she's good enough that, looks aside, I know she can nail it -- if she tries. My only question is will she try to capture Christine's spirit, or is she just going to be a character with the same name, but a different personality?

I don't know how long ago this was, but this is just untrue as of now. That is a consideration that the patient is given and obviously everything has to be agreed upon and consented to. I do agree that there are some doctors that are far too wrapped up in the longevity mentality and don't consider quality of life as much as they should, but that's very different from NHS policy, and everything does still need to be agreed to. "Patient choice" is a HUGE buzzword in the NHS right now, regarding that particular issue as well as just about everything related to health care.
He didn't understand why the useless facilities were allowed to exist at the expense of the ones that were actually efficient and could use more money to do good work, as opposed to throwing good money after bad on the ones that weren't offering anything worthwhile.
I'd need to know what he was referring to more specifically but basically this is fair enough.

Yes. Health care in general can just be really hit and miss, I'm discovering this as well. I'm sorry your experiences weren't better as well, Michele. Even in the course of a day in my department there are people who are thrilled with their experiences, but also sometimes people who have had less-than-stellar ones. The former far outweighs the latter, I'm pleased to say, but there's often a little mix. There are just so many variables. And, while I'm not defending carelessness or apathy, the staff are simply worked too hard to always be 100% "on" with the often difficult general population, if you see what I mean. In a private hospital that is less likely to be the case. So yes, I'd say his comments are fair in that regard too. But perhaps describing that phenomenon as though it is really unique to the NHS isn't totally accurate.
Thanks very much for sharing the comments, Michele!
