I just heard this about 20 minutes ago. Maybe someone else can post the actual news release but apparently Mr Rod Blagoevich, govermor was caught in intercepted phone calls basically telling Obama or one of his minions that unless he got a prime job in the new administration, he'd appoint HIMSELF to the open Senate seat. Now the guy's probably gonna resign and his career is probably over. I know it's not the same circumstances, but I couldnt help but think of Elliot Spitzer. Apparently, this is much worse than I originally thought. I'm watching a news conference now, and they are accusing him of demanding a job for his wife and MONEY too along with other various assorted favors. HELLO JAIL.

He was basically trying to sell Obama's Senate seat for his own profit and said as much to wired investigators which is rather stupid in such a high profile appointment..His goose is cooked.
It's about time. We've been dealing with this jackass for 6 years. His approval rating is 13%. Good riddance. Who knew George Ryan (previous Govenor, already in the slammer) would look good in comparison.

Illinois has a problem with politics and corruption in general. One of the many reasons why I'm glad to be done with Chicago.

I know, took the words right out of my mouth. I was just about to say the same thing. It's weird how people can't just serve the people. They're only in it for self gain......
The CNN poll today asks if he should be allowed to keep working, to which I say: HE WAS ARRESTED, OF COURSE HE SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO KEEP WORKING!!!!

In an attempt to assume the Senate position that is soon to be available, Jesse Jackson Jr. lied down with this dog, and is now trying to convince people he has no fleas. The governor said in the wiretaps that he was approached by an associate of Mr. Jackson with a deal to raise $500,000 for Mr. Blagojevich in exchange for being appointed. Oh, but maybe I'm being too rash. We must consider this remarkable excuse from his lawyer: "I wouldn't put it past someone to be purporting to represent Jesse without authority." link (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081210/ap_on_go_pr_wh/illinois_governor_jackson). Isn't that special? Passing the dirty stuff off to an associate is the same flimsy safeguard that the governor himself would employ. The wiretaps recorded him suggesting that his chief of staff be the one to make one of his crooked deals, "not me". link (http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/12/09/borger.blagojevich/index.html). Two peas in a pod.
The latest idea is to have a special election for the seat, which we can ill afford, but anyone associated with Blago is tainted, so maybe it's worth a shot.
