For me, Book Of Love has the most cruel fade-out ever. Since FM is so good at bad fade/outs, here´s the thread to post your most mindboggling FM-fade-out. Why in the Lindsey-thread? Because he´s a master in cruel fade-outs.

Agreed, that is the cruelest of the lot, because there's still more new stuff appearing at the very end, it's not too important in others such as GYOW. Blue Letter is another disappointment, compared to the single verion which was on the remastered copy of FM. Love that solo.

Oh and Family Man, as soon as he begins to win some people back with that solo at the end he fades it out. Tut tut. Tut tut.

I take it we can include Lindsey solo stuff as well!?
Did You Miss Me - I could have done with about another 30 seconds of that outro... Yet again right in the dying seconds he starts doing something slightly different... So frustrating!
Doing What I Can - just as the solo is getting really good it goes and fades out really quickly!
And one of Stevie's that gets faded way too quick is Destiny Rules...

"Everybody Finds Out"! The awesome keyboard part kicks in and we only get to enjoy it for maybe 1-2 measures before the song's 'done'. That's always annoyed me.
"Countdown". One of my favorite of his solos at the end and there is milked not nearly enough.
"I Want You" always ended really abruptly fade-out wise for me -- but I think that it actually DOES end, it's just really low by the end. I'd like to see more crazy soloing.
I'd like to see "Think About Me" go on a little longer too, but that's not quite as harsh.

The mystical waltz outro is cruelly cut short on "Slow Dancing." I realize it's supposed to be evocative & enigmatic, a brief memory of some distant past love, but put the rest of it on a B side!

Oh right on David! I love that beautiful guitar piece at the end...it is SO cut short!!! That's the best section of the entire song IMHO.

I agree with David. That music-box solo at the end of Slow Dancing is amazing and I could have heard another minute or so of that. It's beautiful.

Does Brown Eyes qualify? Not a Lindsey song and not his guitar solo at the end, but it ends just as Peter Green starts to play. The song lends its self to a cool extended jam, but...quick fade.

well ofcourse: it's a Macsong, he plays on it, the fade-out is aweful, AND the sucker has most of the productioncredits!!

i don't know if that could be considered as a cruel fade-out, but there's a strange demo named "special kind of love" which has no begining and no end. it's only like a long loop with an instrumental solo. I love it though, so I think it is very cruel from mr. buckingham not to have developed that more.
the song leaves you wanting for more. very very cruel.

What has lindsey to do with that? maybe she never brought it into FM. Maybe the other people in the band didn't see a macsong in it?

I'm doing this simply out of memory, and have no way to check audibly at the moment, but didn't Over My Head have a great FADE-IN? Just thought I'd throw a little counterpoint onto this thread.
Way off on a extracurricular tangent now, but I always loved the way the Moody Blues ended The Voice, with Hayward's perfectly chosen guitar notes flying off to the clouds ... so it can be done right.
er, OUT.

YES. 20 seconds of pure bliss.. should've been much, much longer!
