Hey, this poll is Lindsey and Christine biased!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111 :(

LOL just kidding.

I voted for Mystifed again. Let's get rid of it already!

Seven Wonders happens to be my least favorite song of Stevie's on this album. I prefer her other two.

7 Wonders: she didn't even write it.

^^

Yea -- but she jams on and in it

Family Man got my vote. Too quirky for me.

I know right! It isn't a FM song, isn't a Stevie Nicks song. With all her songs they picked this one? You just know that there were a lot of politics involved with the inclusion of this song.

Still it is catchy and I love the start of it, instead of Micks drums we get a cool sounding synth intro.

Anyway Mystified needs to go soon.

I love Mystified...

it's mysterious...
it's written by both Buckingham and McVie
it has takes with both on lead vocals... Christine was final vocal...
it has an amazing atmospheric lead guitar at the end....

it leaves me with the feeling that I really liked side one....
and it leaves me ready for the intro to little lies....

I think that it is a little repetitious. It reminds me of Hypnotized, but I don't think that Mystified is as good. Just me.

7 Wonders: she didn't even write it.True enough, but, Tony, don't you think that Fleetwood Mac takes complete ownership of it? To me, it's further indication that the band's ensemble style always co-opted the song's actual author.

That's why I have always found myself in basic antipathy with the advocates of Nicks-as-poet. No "poetry" she has ever written can stand up to the band's remarkable sonics.

(At their best, of course ... not at their worst)

I love Mystified... I do, too, & I feel it's absolutely essential to TANGO IN THE NIGHT because it carries through that five-tone theme we find throughout, which reminds us musical illiterates of Japan's shakuhachi, koto, or shamisen. I could no more think of TANGO without MYSTIFIED than I could RUMOURS without GOLD DUST WOMAN.

On the pentatonic subject, I always got a kick out of the way Rick Vito ended all performances of SEVEN WONDERS on the 1987 tour -- he codas a five-tone scale with suitably Oriental-sounding bends!

I might differ with you there - but only slightly.

I do agree with you though that the sonics were remarkable. I also think that La Nicks' voice from Mirage back heavily influenced that sound. The chorus of Dreams is a good example, and she is not even singing lead on it

If it's well done,, sometimes repetitive sounds are great. See ABBA's Winner takes it all. If you listen carefully the melody is very repetitous, very simple. Benny said in a documentary:

(the melody is) tarara.. tarari.. goes twice, and then goes dararara dararari twice, and that's it. There is nothing else there. I think we've achieved what I'm always aiming for, to try to keep things as simple as possible. I mean the inner thing in a song should be as simple as possible.

Benny Anderson - 1999

And if master Benny said it so, it's true. no discussion!!! No doubt Winner takes it all became a masterpiece, a jewel.. and one of my favorite songs in the whole wide world!!

Well, not all simple things may turn into jewels, but some repetitous songs may be cool also.. so I like Mystified!!!

Yes, as does You and I Part II AKA Eyes Wide Shut. I think I prefer Christine on the latter. He sings "Hoping tomorrow will never come for you, you, you, you, you, and I" but she sings "Hoping tomorrow will never come if you will love me today" It would have been nice if they both sang their different lines together. I think it would have meshed well.

Ooooh, that's a lovely distinction. Thanks for pointing it out. Chris' line smacks of realism. "I know this can't last forever, but lets enjoy it while we can. DO stop thinking about tomorrow." Conversely, Lindsey's take has an optimism that can't stand up in the real world. Singing them together would have been lovely. That's why I like them singing together on Think About Me. Same words, but one's a plea, the other's a demand.

This is one of those things that I adored about Buckingham McVie tracks... they really paid attention to what they were saying... and the alternations in vocals on tunes like Don't Stop, World Turning, You and I etc... I always listened to who sang what.... Love it!

Well, you know, their blend is amazing even on a fluff song like Ricky, because it's like what you'd imagine you'd get if Lindsey was a ghost possessing Christine's body. It's her, but it's got his ticks, his quirky personality.

Funny because I've always thought that they all had possesed each other... even Christine and Stevie had some of the same quirks...

Danny and Bob and Christine same thing... had some of each other's essence...

True, But I LOVE Ricky. I think with Down Endless street those songs would have made this album a lot better. Axe LL and Family Man For it!

Well, I've often said that SYW was Stevie being Christine, but Ricky is fun because it's an actual collaboration, not just a mental one and I get a kick out of thinking of Chris and Lindsey cooking that one up together and probably giggling at the time. Michele

I wouldn't axe LL, but yeah, I'd take Down Endless Street for Family Man.

I love Down Endless. I would say that the vocal is a little campy and I'd like it to be a bit straighter for an album song, but the thing is great.
