LWTG is a really rocking song. ROF is nice, but I think LWTG gets my vote.

Oh, sh*t, I didn't realize we were now switching to voting for our FAVORITE! I voted for the wrong one! I guess I should have paid attention to the word in the LARGE, BOLD font!!!!
I wanted to vote off ROF, but instead I voted to keep it! AHHHHH ...

I always think it's interesting that these things typically come down to Stevie's upbeat songs.
"Long Way To Go," for example, is -- in my opinion -- not a lyrically substantial song at all. Yet, it made it to the final two. And when I hear people talking about it, the majority only mention that it's "fun" or "rocking."
To each his own, of course, and I'm not chiding anyone for their choices -- but I definitely prefer when Stevie's pouring out her heart and giving us a glimpse of what really makes her tick.

Yes, and none of that is present on TOSOTM. It's all a dull, hazy blur.

I can't imagine how anyone could consider Long Way to Go an upbeat song in any way. I think it has a dark and powerful atmosphere, and the lyrics match that. Other winners are No Spoken Word, Stand Back, How Still My Love? None of those scream upbeat to me. *shrugs*
I accidentally voted ROF too. Ah well. Doesn't look like it matters anyway.

Yes, and none of that is present on TOSOTM. It's all a dull, hazy blur.
You don't think she's pouring her heart out when she says...
"To fill the empty spaces she's feeling, she depends on her music like a husband -- and she knows it's no good to fall in love again."
Or...
"In my distress, I wanted someone to blame me. In my devastation, I wanted so to change. In my way, disaster was the only thing that I could depend on."
The production might not be the best, but I think those are among her best lyrics -- they're stark and intensely personal. We're listening to a woman whose life is falling apart.
But anyway, that's just how I feel about it. :)

I should have said "uptempo" -- which is also true of "No Spoken Word" and "Stand Back."
IMO, none of those three songs are as lyrically substantial as some of their competitors -- and I always thought/assumed Nicks fans would gravitate toward her more introspective material.
At the end of the day though, it doesn't really matter. We all have different tastes and we all have preferences towards certain songs for our own reasons. It was just something I've noticed in the past (the general preference toward uptempo songs) and I noticed that it's playing out that way again. :)

I guess. I liked the way she sounded falling apart on RAL and on the tracks she laid down on TITN. Once TOSOTM came along, she had already fallen. THUD.
True, some lyrics there were heartfelt. But, I thought the 'depends on her music like a husband...' bit seemed a little premature for her. In 1989, she was only 41. If she sang something like that now, then I'd be like "oh yeah, I get it. Yeah, she gave up her own happiness for her music. Dig it."
But you're right, the whole thing suffered from the production. Oy.

Yes...I thought the production was a little lackluster. But still...not a bad album...but it should have been better.

Sad I didn't get to vote in this.....I like ROF but I would've picked LWTG for sure .....I've always loved that song.....it would've been a killer song live I think......but Stevie just can't or won't mix up the set list......sad but so true:shrug:
