Even though I've never met you sir, I am so happy for you that you were able to come over here and see 4 shows. I know the passion you feel bacause I feel it too. And going overseas to see the Mac or any of its members is something Ive never done, so my hat is off to you. I know your last show was last night in Ridgefield and I hope you have a safe flight back home and memories to last a lifetime. I wish I couldve met you, but maybe another time. One more time my man, your passion is something to be admired!:cool:

Well, thank you big Dave!

You know i write more on another FM-board now. But I met lindsey three times this week. Shortly, but intense.

I had the time of my life.

Just for you, I post my last tourstory here.

Ok my friends, I'm wrapping up the story here. The last show's over, it was beautiful again, and I'm packin'up (pun intended) to head home again. I totally fullfilled my main goals. this post comes from the ridgefield library and in six hours my plane will leave.

I am so glad that lindsey ended the show again with TPT. it's a tearjerker for sure. I was in front by then, he was witty about some girls who were a bit dissapointed about the gift of screws-meaning, and he said "I'm sorry I ruined it for you with the emily dickinson-meaning. But maybe it DOES have the crude meaning too. He was flirting with those girls and at one point a funny guy behind me yelled: "shall we leave?" . That was a witty remark.

I bought a VIP-ticket that costed a buck or fifty, with a possible meet and greet. To no success, though. We were held hostage in a small room before the show, had free drinks and some snacks, they collected our adresses for a possible signed poster, did not get to see the soundcheck. They know how to rip off, for sure. On the other hand, it was the first 47 dollar beer I ever had. I met some nice people though, lurkers on the ledge AND over here, and some of them had been reading this thread and they were so psyched for me to have this experience. Really cool. {lurkers: thanks for meeting and recognizing me, you made my lindsey-experience extra special}

After the show, at the back of the venue, it was clear the band was taking a flight to philly or so, they were in a hurry. Security was incredibly rude, well they always are in the filthy rich area's aren't they? The band car was ready to leave and the guys came out and immediately jumped in. About 12-15 fans were waiting, lindsey was going in the frontright seat, but leaned over the door to sign some stuff and one picture for some hysteric obnoxious girl. I stepped forward after she was satisfied, he saw me and I said " I just want to say goodbye, Lindsey!"

He gave me a firm hand and he didn't let loose untill our short conversation ended. " Are you leaving?" I said:"yes, I want to thank you for an amazing experience, shows were great and it was just fabulous to meet you."
Then he said "Well, Gerald, I just want you to know that I really appreciated that you came a long way for this. That's very special to me" I said, " All mutual, Lindsey, I just hope that you would come over to Europe once, there are some great fans waiting for you. And please, if you do, do it with the solo-tour. He said: Well, I want to, but it is so expensive, though I know people want to see me over there.
I think it's a ridiculous reason, but hey, I wasn't there to get in a quarrel about money. So I said: "I am aware now how expensive it is." And we litterally BURSTED out laughing, looking in eachothers eyes. " well, it'll cost a lot more ofcourse". All this time we were still shaking hands. The man REALLY made contact, and that felt really special. Then he said " Have a safe trip back home, and thank you again".

At that point, the 3 guys in the back took their window down and yelled out my name, and all three put a hand outside leaning over eachother: " Gerald! Have a safe trip and goodbye!" I highfived them all and yelled, " thanks guys it was great!" And then they left.

And now I'm going to leave. This trip just had everything I could have dreamed off. What really feels special, is that they REALLY REALLY noticed me. I'll treasure that.

gerald.

BTW: this is a realistic description of a wonderful minute. I was very grounded , maybe because he constantly held my hand at had eyecontact all the way through, and I wrote this down twenty minutes after it happened. Some words were different ofcourse, but this is basicly exactly how it went.

The high came somewhat later...

It was great getting to meet you and share in your experience with Lindsey.
Have a safe trip home! And buy cheaper beer, in the future! I had a $51 glass of seltzer;-)

And I thought he'd NEVER let go of your hand. He was very, very sweet and I'm glad you had your moment after coming here all this way.

Where did you post that originally?

It was so great to read your story Gerald. I went to the show last night and today I feel a little down because I was on such a high last night. I'm glad I didn't bother buying those "meet and greet." I think you probably didn't even need to do that anyway, you got more out of your experience on your own. Those women he was flirting with in front happened to be people that had gone to his other shows as well, that is why he kept blowing them kisses. At least that is what I was told by somebody there. ;)

Gerald this is just about the coolest thing I've ever heard and I cannot think of a single Lindsey fan who deserves it more than you. I'm still gutted that I wasn't able to make my show but I have been living vicariously through your great updates and thank you for tellling Lindsey to get himself and his tour over here! He needed to hear that!

Gerald, I'm sorry I didn't get to see you in Northampton, but hey, your meet and greet turned out awesome! I'm so happy for you!!

I'm glad that the trip was worth it, flying from Europe must have been a pain, not to mention costing an arm and a leg, but I hope that you consider it again.

It's awesome how you had such an awesome trip, and as Trackaghost said, you totally deserve it :)

Thank you so much. I thought it was extra cool that I got recognized by some (ex)-ledgies/lurkers that had read my posts and you were all so nice to let me have my moment of goodbye. Around the other two times this trip I got to talk with my hero, I also met Brett and Neal and Bill and before the last show also Wally, who walked to me to ask about a dutch percussionist he knew who worked with dutch countrystar Ilse DeLange. So he knew I was gerald from the netherlands: the guys must have talked about me during last week.

And that is why it was so friggin great they yelled my name and said goodbye too. Simply amazing.

I don't think the picture I took of you will be nearly as impressive as the one you have with Lindsey! Glad you made it safe and sound. It really was a GREAT day! :wavey:

Gerald.... No other deserved more to meet with and be recognized by Lindsey and his band members - then YOU! Great detailed telling of your last meeting, it literally give me goose bumps reading that! Really happy that you got to hear him express his appreciation towards you for the distance and expense you went through to see him... I'm sure he'll remember you for a long time... And that picture is beyond great!

Hey Gerald...I am reading Eric Clapton's autobiography and there is a passage about George Harrison that made me think of you and meeting Lindsey.

"He [George] didn't really seem to like playing live, so it did nothing for him, except maybe give him a chance to see how much he was loved, by his fans and by us."

I think that passage sums up why LB should do solo tours...he seems to like playing live and most importantly it gives him a chance to see how much he is loved especially by fans in America and fans like you who are coming all the way from Europe to see and hear him play.

He is indeed loved and that was definitely communicated here and elsewhere in the various reviews (by Ledgies and on other boards) and the professional reviews he received.

Yes, he is loved and he got the chance to see it many times these past two months.

(BTW, cool photo...and I am glad you got it.)

Great pic, Gerald! Congrats!

Did LB mention anything like, "Hey, you're that guy in the audience w/ his hands on his head and his jaw dropped open!" :p
