Well, as I'm sure you all know I was car-less as of 9-12-08 just outside Indianapolis. At the time I was devestated because I thought now there was no way I was going to be able to go to any Lindsey shows that were coming up in less than 2 weeks. But after a couple days of feeling sorry for myself I decided to look at my options, and I decided that not going to the shows was simply NOT AN OPTION. Flying was too expensive, as was trying to rent a car that close to the trip, so that left only one other option. You guessed it, THE ONE THE ONLY GREYHOUND! I had to cut out Tulsa unfortunately, but I was able to still attend 6 shows, which as you'll see, were quite an adventure! Come along for the ride.............

Kansas City, 9-28, Uptown Theater Well, it didnt take very long for the first disaster to materialize. I was scheduled to depart Minneapolis at 8:00 AM on Sunday the 28th and arrive in KC at 5:45 PM that day. Plenty of time to get to the show right? WRONG! 8am, no bus, 9am no bus! so someone finally complained to the Greyhound people where the F**K was the bus! A driver finally showed up at 10am and said the guy that was supposed to be there at 8 simply so called no showed! I asked the new driver what time we would be into KC and he said around 8. I was like to myself OH THATS JUST F***IN GREAT! SO I was biting my nails all day until we finally arrived into KC at 8:10PM. I did my best Jesse Owens impression and ran as fast as I could out to a cab and told him to get me to the Uptown Theater as fast as he could. We got there at 8:25, literally as the lights were going down for the first song! Of course I had one little problem. I had no time to put my **** anywhere so I had my suitcase and everything there at the show with me. I settled into a seat at the back of the venue and after a couple of songs I noticed that there was a seat on the end open in the second row! I asked one of the ushers to watch my stuff and she said she would and so down I went. The show was very good, but honestly I was so spent I dont remember many details. After the show was over I knew I wanted to talk to Lindsey if I could but I didnt want to wait outside the venue with all of my stuff, so I remembered the hotel they were staying at for the KC show in 2007 and I decided to take a chance and go there hoping theyd be there again. after waiting there for about an hour there they were! WHen they came in I was waiting in the lounge off to the side of the lobby and I went up to say hello. All the guys were like HEY DAVE GOOD TO SEE YOU AGAIN. WHY HAVENT YOU BEEN TO MORE SHOWS. I told them my story and how the only way I wasnt going to go to at least some shows was if I was dead. Lindsey was like NOW THATS SOME SERIOUS DEDICATION! SO Lindsey, Brett, Wally, Neale and I chatted for about 10 minutes reminicing about the last tour and Brett took Lindsey and mines Picture and Let them be on their way. I figured they wanted to get up to their rooms and Lindsey wanted to talk to his wife so I didnt want to be any more of a bother.

St Louis, 9-29, The Pageant I hopped on the ole bus at around 1pm and arrived into St Louis at about 5:30. I went to eat at a great little Italian place downtown called Charlie Gitto's,(fantastic food for anyone interested!) and after that hopped in a cab and got to the venue at about 7:30 or so. I was shocked to find that uopn arriving there was almost no one on the floor up by the stage! I got up there right behind Christy, George and Pattie, and we had a wonderful time talking about past tours and all that good stuff. I got some really good pictures at that show, and as soon as I can I will put them up on here!

Cleveland, 10-1, House Of Blues So after the St Louis show was my first tortureous bus ride. I got back to the bus station and had to wait until 3:45AM for the bus that would take me towrads Cleveland. It was a bus on its way to New York City so OF COURSE it was packed. But actually most of the people were pretty quiet and the ride was fairly uneventful. Oh except for in Dayton Ohio, these 2 guys as the bus was pulling into the station there decided to get into an argument about which rapper was better, I think it was Akon of Lil Wayne. The arguement got so heated that they both got put off the bus there in Dayton and the cops were called! I didnt see the end result, but suffice it to say those 2 werent happy with each other. I digress for just a moment. That is one of the reasons I love taking the bus, you just never know what youre gonna get! anyway, I had to change buses in Columbus and got onto this real nice bus that took me into Cleveland and we all watched Titanic on the video screens. Got into Cleveland at 5:15pm on the 30th, and John, my friend Debbie's husband picked me up and the 3 of us went out to dinner at a nice Italian place right by their house my treat. I figured I've stayed at their house several times over the years for concerts so it was the least I could do. Now onto the day of the show. Debbie dropped me off at the HOB to get in line at about 1:00pm and she went back home. I was saving her a place in line so she wouldnt have to stand in line because she had a bad back. I noticed that there was a sign on the door explaining that if you bought some merchandise at the store or ate at the HOB resturant you could get in a special line to get in ahead of the people standing outside. So I decided to do it, since Debbie has done so much for me. I sat down to eat inside the resturant and the manager himself waited on me. We got to chatting because it wasnt very busy at that time and I told him that I had been to almost 100 shows between Lindsey, Stevie, Peter Green, and Fleetwood Mac. The dude was astonished and asked how many other people I had coming to the show with me, and I said 8, so he gave me reciepts so I could take all those peopl up to the front of the special line with me. SO that was cool, being able to help out and get those other friends of Mine up to the front, Christy, Curtis and his sister, George, my friend Debbie. Pattie, and Bree.(LNGPRMSD) SO anyway as the time for Lindsey to arrive got closer I went outside by the loading dock with Pattie and Christy and asked the security guy if we could wait by the dock as long as we didnt come up into it. He was like "Well, normally youd have to wait out by the street but I saw you talking with a guy on the crew earlier and he said youre ok so you all can stand here and wait. Well Lindsey showed up at about 5:30, and as soon as he got out of the SUV and saw me said "Big Dave how ya doin?" and comes up and gives me a big hug. Oh and the had a camera rolling too so I think that might be posted on YT or somethin like that sometime ion the future. He signed Christy's album and a few others and had to get inside. SO we all got into the place and got right up front which was awesome! The show was loud with great fan participation. and of course a little bonus Johnny Stew!

Chicago, 10-2, House Of Blues I left Cleveland at 8am and arrived into Chicago at 3pm, put my stuff into lockers at the bus station and made my way over to the venue, hoping to eat at the HOB resturant, only to find that it was closed for a private party! I went over to Harry Caray's next door and they were only serving a bar menu uuntil 5PM. UGH!!! SO I had this seafood salad and mozzeralla sticks which amounted to $25. Not even worth it! Oh wel. Anyway, I had bought a birthday card for Lindsey at a store on my way to the HOB hoping to have a chance to give it to him at some point. (More about that later) Met up with Chritsy, George, Bree, and Pattie, our merry band of traveling gypsies and we did the pass the line thing again and got right up to the front of the stage. The show was fantastic! I was right next to Nancy(Sodascouts) and her 2 friends and about halfway thru the show unfurled a HAPPY BIRTHDAY banner and spread it out across the front of the stage. SO the show ends and I wasnt able to give my card to Lindsey. I went outside and was talking to someone and telling them that I couldnt give my card to him, and this person told me they saw the band leave the Hotel earlier that afternoon on the way to the venue. I couldnt believe my luck! I really dont like to go to hotels that often but I figured this was a special occasion so I decided totry it. I waited on the far end of the lobby in the lounge with my card, and the guys showed up at about 11:45. one little problem though, Lindsey walks into the lobby of the hotel with Kristen his wife! I was like OH ****! I have always sworn to myself that I would never bother Lindsey whenever he was with his wife or family but I was already there so I chanced it. I approached them and said "Here, Lindsey, I bought this card for you. Hope you like it." he said "Dave that was really nice, thank you." I asked Kristen if she would mind quickly taking our picture and she said no problem. So I have a picture of Lindsey and I taken by none other that his lovely wife. She was actually very nice, didnt say much, but very nice. I immideately left the hotel after that because I didnt want to bother them anymore and Brett and Neale were outside having a cig. I chatted with them for about 20 minutes and was all worried that I had made Lindsey mad and they both assured me that there was no problem, we all know you and we trust you. SO that was pretty cool. Brett was like "You know Dave, your dedication in coming to these shows truly amazes me." I was really touched by that. I never go seeking that kind of recognition, so I really appreciated that. the hotel bellhop took our picture and Its hilarious. They are both pointing at me and have these expressions on their faces like THIS GUYS THE ****.

Milwaukee, 10-4, Pabst Theater I always wondered what the twilight zone was, now I know. See I didnt have a whole lot of money to spend on this tour so I had to cut corners where I could. One of them was after the Chicago show, I went back to the bus station and waited until 8am the next morning to catch the bus to Milwaukee. I arrived into Milwaukee at 1010am and got to my hotel and slept until like 6pm. Went to eat a ta nice mexican resturant and watched the Red Sox/Angels playoff gane that night. The next afternoon, the 4th, I checked out of the motel and took my stuff down to the bus station and stored it until after the show and spent the afternoon wondering around downtown Milwaukee and down by the lakefront at the war memorial. Great times! I got back to the venue right before Lindsey showed up and he got out and signed come autographs. I apologized to him for bothering him with his wife and he said"No it was no problem. I thought that was very thoughtful of you to give me that card and Kristen thought you were nice too." WHEW I wasnt worried about that anymore. But I wont do that again, bother him if hes with his wife or family. The Milwaukee show was ok, not the best of the shows I saw in part I think due to the fact that it was a seated theater and almost all of the front rown sat down the whole show. But still all in all a good show.

Indianapolis, 10-5, Murat Egyptian Room This was very interesting. I got back to the bus station at 11pm for the 5 hour wait until 4am for the bus to Indianapolis and met up with Susan, a longtime fan from Chicago who had come up for the show. She had missed the 11pm bus and was waiting for the same one I was. We talked and I ended up cinvincing her to come to Indy with me!:D So anyway, we arrived into Indy at about 2pm and after I cleaned up in the bathroom, we went over to the Hard Rock to have lunch. Finshed that and got to the Murat center at about 4pm. There were about 15 people in line in front of me so Susan waited in line while I went around back and waited for the guys to show up. They got there at about 5:15 and I talked to Lindsey for about 5 minutes and said I was sad this was my last show, and he thanked me for being so dedicated and gave me a big hug again. Brett, Neale, and Wally were all saying they were gonna miss me at the shows. I thought that was really nice of them to say. We got into the venue and it was kinda weird. It was general admission, but there were seats. I got up in the front row pretty far over to the left. The show was once again excellent and we got the added treat of Bleed To Love Her on the Turner no less! IT was these 2 girls in the front row's birthday, and they asked him to play it, so during the encore he did. Almost the whole song too! So the show was over, and George offered to take myself and Susan out to eat. We ended up at a place called the Red Eye Cafe which was very good. George treated both of us, and I want so say a special thank you to him here for being so nice!

I got home yesterday at 6pm going on about 3 hours of sleep over the past 2 days, but not regretting a minute of it. I had an incredible time seeing Lindsey on this tour and the last, really a total blast. I also wanted to thank all of his crew for working so hard ot make all the shows happen. We couldnt see them without all of you guys hard work! A special thank you to Dave and Bill on Lindsey's crew for being so nice to me. Guys I'll never forget that!

So that's it, the end of another saga. cant wait to turn the chapter to Fleetwood Mac in 2009!

That's amazing Dave and for Lindsey to know you so well that he just goes "Big Dave" and gives you a great hug is simply incredible.

And it's so wonderful that Kristen actually took the picture of you two.

I'm so glad that the disaster with your car didn't stop you at all and the whole band knows what a fan you are.

David,

You are such a positive person. It is a pleasure to read your travelog, because you always find a way. The part about going to the show with your suitcase, made me crack a smile. But, you made it happen...and are not discouraged. I find that to be so enjoyable about you.

Your description of riding the bus with all the characters was a fun read too.

I bet it gets lonely for the band, and seeing a familiar face, is like saying hi to a relative.

Not wanting to bother Lindsey when he's with his wife, shows your sweet nature. So...with all of these characteristics, that you have....you sound like a super fan and one that they are proud of.

Bravo David! I really am glad for you. Infact, you are kinda famous. Lindsey knows you by name!

Now...let's have a look at those pictures. I still want to see the photo of your car that had all the FM paraphenialia (sp) & bumper stickers and stuff on it.

How many times have you met Lindsey and the gang now? Seems like you've met them at every show since the UTS tour. I don't know how you do it! I'd be embarrassed to approach them all the time, but that's just me. I didn't even seek him out after last night's show because I was too shy. But y'know, I am Canadian. And we made eye contact a number of times, so that's enough for me.

Thanks so much for sharing that David! I met you (again) in Milwaukee and you shared your pics, your tattoos (yay! Stereophonics) and your story. I am so sorry about what happened to your car, but man are you a trooper. Lindsey should be grateful to have such a dedicated fan, because I know I sure as hell couldn't do it. And what impressed me most is how restrained you were when LB came out...like, I'm certain, some fans who have met their fave artists numerous times might get "big headed" about it and feel the need to run up and shout it out, but you were cool and really respectful of his space. Class act. :)

I on the other hand am TOO restrained. I should have gotten something, but I think getting the chance to see that incredible show again was sufficient. I couldn't ask for anything more. Love Lindsey. Just adore him.

I'm not going to miss that either. It's funny that you mention the Rock and Roll heart thing. I really do believe that. I live for enjoying the music and going to these shows. It energizes me and it makes me happy, and isnt that what life is really about?
