Yeah, there was a lot less people and less traffic. Things closed way early too. :distress: That is so funny you were there just before me! What a small world!
We had so much fun, and I can't believe it's over! The Outer Banks was beautiful like always and we had a condo right on the beach! :D It was warm 70's-80's, although one day it was 63, still sunny though. I'm used to being there in the summer, like July or August, so in October the sun is in a different possition. And of course I didn't think a thing about it, went down to the beach, and burned on one side of me, including my face, and a lovely white stripe where my sunglasses were! dumb @$$.
Like always I managed to find an animal that I end up getting attached to and wanted to bring it home! I found two stray (I think) cats, a fox that I thought was going to come up to me, I fed a flock of seagulls, and about 12 ducks that followed me accross the road! Thursday we went to Ocracoke Island, and there were a bunch of Malard ducks standing in the street infront of Ocracoke Lighthouse, and I was afraid they were going to get hit, so I got a slice of bread out of the back of the van, and dangled it infront of them, and they followed me over to a pond. So I bent down and fed them, actually I was more like attacked... They took the bread piece by piece right out of my fingers. One of them was standing on my foot and tried to get up in my lap! Oh, and ducks can jump by the way...
Also the first couple of days there were tons of dolphins! They were so close to shore and one of them jumped completely out of the water! :D Another one stuck his tail up out of the water, it was so cute! Of course they couldn't do any of this when I tried to take a picture or video tape.
My favorite thing about the Outer Banks is the lighthouses. I have always been interested in them. They are so majestic and there is so much history behind them. I have been to the top of two out of the five on the Outer Banks atleast 2 or 3 times. One being Cape Hatteras, aka "Guardian of the Atlantic" which is 209 feet tall and has 268 steps...talk about getting your exersize for the day.
I will get pictures up as soon as I load them on my computer! :D
