Well I went to the doctor 2 days ago and they told me I have MONO. So I'm basically going to be tired and ill for the next 4-6weeks.
Words of wisdom: Don't ever drink or eat after anyone!!!
I need some cheering up.:distress:

Listen to some upbeat music that makes you want to dance. It may help.

Yeah, I've had mono. It sucks really. I remember my throat being very sore & being kind of tired. I didn't think it would ever go away. I think my boyfriend (now my husband) at the time gave it to me. They say though that a person can carry the virus & not come down with it. I still to this day blame him to which he says well, I never had it. Anyway, hang in there. Hope you feel better.

Thanks guys. The problem is that I'm so weak I don't care about anything. My cat could die tomorrow and I just wouldn't care. That's how bad I feel.

Hang in there! It is the most miserable feeling in the world :sorry:. I slept alot . And like Lee, I started dating someone in January and got mono in February. I still think he is the source but he states he never had it but like you said people can be carriers and not exhibit the symptoms.

Be very careful! My 15 year old daughter got sick. They called it mono. She was sick for about two months...she went from 142 in the summer (August) pounds down to 103 by November. The doctors kept saying it was mono and that we would have to wait it out. She was so sick, and had no energy.
They finally tested her for diabetes. Her blood sugar was so high it was off the meter. The meter quit at 600. Then after her diagnosis, her thyroid went bad and she lost all her hair.
She has Type 1 Diabetes and wears an insulin pump. It was a terrible misdiagnosis.... And they kept telling us, it was mono.

OMGosh that's horrible!!! Let's hope I have MONO. I'm really bummed because I have been working out and trying to gain weight and now they tell me I can't exercise for at least 4 weeks. So much for my workouts.

I had mono back in April. I was at 158 and went down to 150. Do you have a sore throat? When I had it I could barely swallow water. Plus, I was at school two hours away from home, it was really scary. Hang in there and sleep as much as possible.

Yeah I have a severe sore throat. But I can't even sleep without my mouth drying out and waking me up. AgghhHH!!! I've found comfort in Green Tea. I love the feeling of hot tea splashing against the soreness. It helps.

Did they verify that she had mono with a lab test? I assume that she did actually have mono at one point, but they assumed her later problems were still due to mono? It's just weird, because the s/s of diabetes certainly don't mimic those of mono. Did she not have the typical excessive thrist/hunger/urination, or did they blow it off? In any event, I hope she's well now - and I hope you've found a new doctor. :p

I don't mean to hijack this thread....but thank you for those who have expressed an interest and concern.
My daughter is now 21 and wears an insulin pump....she has gained back all the weight and then some.
The mono test was done, which is retrospect, showed that she did have mono at some time in her life.
She had all the symptoms of being very, very tired, no energy and losing weight.
When they did the diabetes test, the lab decided there wasn't enough of a sample SO THEY DIDNT DO IT. It took another week to get another sample and get the lab results back.
The kid in the emergency room next to her died...same thing...diabetes misdiagnosed as mono....and very high blood sugar. He went into a coma and never came out. It was December 2001...and people were so busy with Christmas that symptoms got over-looked, I guess. We were lucky.

BABOLES!
Have you tried going to bed with a cough drop in your mouth? I take a Halls cough drop and it helps when I have a sore throat. Jell-o is good and soothing too.
Get well soon! And keep us posted as to your recovery.

Yes I have tried everything. I'm feeling better actually. It seems like one moment I'm perfectly fine and the next I'm back to being sick. I don't feel tired anymore. That's a relief.
