I have this passion for watching college football...it is bigger than the Fleetwood Mac passion. Anyone want to join in on this thread during the season?
Georgia vs. Central Michigan (56-17)
I love that these players are kids -- not pro's -- and that their moves and choices are unpredictable.

The Huskers are big faves in my family (Both of my older brothers are fans)
Myself...I am a diehard fan of <img src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/1b/Interlocking_University_of_Southern_California_logo.png">, <img src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/be/TulsaGoldenHurricane.png"> and <a href="http://www.broncosports.com/HomePage2.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=9900">the Broncos of Boise St.</a>
Worst team in college football, that's easy, The University of Oklahoma Sooners ('Sooner' whine and accuse a winner of cheating than accept the asskicking they just received...USC, West Virginia and Boise State will agree!)
I will give Blow-You, I meant O-Who, err, OU credit - they were involved in the GREATEST college football game of all-time - <a href="http://www.broncosports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=9900&ATCLID=736125&SPID=4061&SPSID=48553">the Jan.1,2007 Fiesta Bowl</a> , Which Boise St. won!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OU=Overrated Undeniably!!!!

As a University of Miami football fan, there are only 2 teams we ABSOLUTELY DISPISE.
#1. Florida State - Anyone here who is a Seminoles fan should raise their hand so I can block them ;)
#2. Ohio State - Let us rewind to the 2003 National Championship game...University of Miami vs. Ohio State. Last play of the 4th quarter....botched call by the official. At that time there was no official review, so the call could not have been overturned. Needless to say, Ohio State stole our national championship. So, to see Ohio State get crushed at the Colisseum brought me immense joy :)

In regards to your #2, USC thought they were suffering "deja-vu" a game very similar to one from their recent past at the Orange Bowl and the opponent was OU instead of Ohio St. - the 55-19 USC ass-kicking of Blow-U still is a sore spot in Norman...Boohoo for Blow-U.
Blow-U has to play Nebraska this year - and I hope the black shirts kick their asses all over Norman just so I can hear David "The FORMER Crooked Democratic US Senator" Boren cry that Blow-U were cheated yet again!!!
Oh and about your #1, since when did Free-Shoe U (aka Florida State = 61 athletes cheating CANNOT be wrong) have ANY fans to begin with? Even Blow-U beat 'em, Hehehehe.
According to a stat I saw, since 2002 the winningest 4 programs in NCAA FBS football are:
1. USC (Best winning record against the Boohoo Sooners!!!)
2. Boise State (Make fun of our blue turf, we'll STILL kick yer asses!!! Ask Blow-U!!!)
3. Texas (BETTER beat Blow-U this year)
4. Ohio St. (?????)

Dan Hawkins should have stayed at Boise State and if so would have had his National Championship...but his heart tugged him to take pity on Colorado and clean up the mess we have here.
I would love to see NU beat OU... where is it played this year?
As for FSU -- I believe they hold classes in how to mug the other team. I swear there's criminal intent behind those hits.
OK...so....whom don't I like (if anyone gives a damn...)
1. Notre Dame (my diskike has to deal in part with that "we're on TV every week" contract and the fact that they think GOD is on their side.)
2. Ohio State (1970? 72?) when they played Michigan and Michigan was gonna kick a field goal to win.....The Ohio State fans tore down the goal post.
The refs switched them to the other side, and the students ripped down that goal post as well. So to score, Michigan HAD to make a touchdown, and they didn't. Woody Hayes.
3. UCLA and only because I can't stand Rick NEUHEISEL. He used to coach at Colorado. I dislike ANY team he coaches for, including girls teams...he got the head coaching position at CU when it should have gone to ---(I can't think of his name ?Simmons? but he went to Okla State) --

Hawkins is a great coach (I hope he turns CU around), but Boise St. has not lost a step...Still one team most do not want on their non-conference schedule (O-Who's non-conference schedule this year included the Oklahoma School for the Blind, The Amputee Veterans of America and the Muskogee High School ROUGHERS!!!!!!!)
I cannot stand Neuheisel, He prepared UCLA for a miniature golf game and didnt realize that they were to play a FOOTBALL game against BYU this past Saturday, Thus the 59-0 score. Wow, religion FINALLY (BYU) was good for something!!! Sucks to be a Bruin now.
I like CU, but Neu-Seik-Heil-sel left the Buffs in major trouble...Reminds me of Blow-U's former mens basketball coach, who took his trouble to Indiana and FUBAR'd the Hoosiers in the same manner as he did to Blow-U.
Blow-U plays Nebraska in Norman, So I hope for about 50-70 points (Minimum) from the black shirts of NU so I can enjoy yet another whine story from David "The CORRUPT US Senator" Boren.
I hope to see in my lifetime the Blow-U program get the "Death Penalty" that SMU once received. Without a doubt, the MOST CORRUPT program in ALL college sports lies in Norman, Oklahoma (Definitely the WORST fans - Brag like there's no tomorrow when they win, but whine and accuse when they FAIRLY lose) so bad, that Blow-U makes Neuheisel and FSU seem flawless.
Oh, and Ohio St. has fans??? I thought the only (REAL) OSU with fans are my beloved AGGIES of Okla.St!!!!

doesnt mean doody to me. Playing QUALITY NON-CONFERENCE opponents, such as what USC/Notre Dame/Ohio St./Florida do EVERY YEAR AFTER YEAR weighs more to me than Blow-U wins over UT-Chattanooga/Cincinnati/Washington/TCU (If you think any of those 4 teams are Quality, then I know of some land on the Louisiana Coast to sell to you that DOESNT flood...I'm shocked to NOT see N.Texas or Rice on the Sooners schedule this year, since Blow U almost always plays these CUPCAKES - Now if those were NCAA basketball games, I think it would be a QUALITY schedule).
Hell, My 3 cats could put up the offensive scorings numbers Blow-U does against those tasty CUPCAKES...Let's see O-Who score massive amounts of points against 'Bama/USC/Ohio St./Missouri/Florida.
Enjoy yer #1 the next couple of weeks Blow-U, because after playing (Another non-quality team Baylor) your schedule will prove if you are as GREAT as you assume yourself to be:
Sat, Oct 4 at Baylor Baylor, TX. 11:30 FSN
------------------------------------------------------------
Sat, Oct 11 Texas Dallas, TX 11:00 ABC
Sat, Oct 18 Kansas Norman TBD TBD
Sat, Oct 25 at Kansas State Manhattan, KS TBD TBD
Sat, Nov 1 Nebraska Norman TBD TBD
Sat, Nov 8 at Texas A&M College Station, TX TBD TBD
Sat, Nov 22 Texas Tech Norman TBD TBD
Sat, Nov 29 at Oklahoma State Stillwater, OK 2:30/7:00? ABC
Brian "Roll Tide, ROLL!!!!" j.
ps- I wouldnt be surprised to see O-Who schedule games against Cameron University, Bacone College and Rogers St. in the future :D
One tasty tid-bit for the Nebraska fans, NU offered to play O-Who in a series on "non-conference" games...To which O-Who passed upon, and scheduled series against N.Texas...Can you say COWARDS? I can!!!

I agree with what you're saying. College rankings change weekly. Who knows what the top ten will look like next week. It's one of the appealing things about watching that stuff.
Little CU (I still love you Dan Hawkins) lost yesterday but there was a cool play... Virginia Tech QB throws a pass, it is tipped, bounces back and he catches his own pass. Does that count as a completion on his stats??? :D

I only got to watch two games this weekend....we are moving our office. So I got up and was in the office by 5:30 a.m. and worked until 4:30 p.m. scanning files, and packing boxes.
I got to watch 1/2 of the Colorado-Texas game. (Despite the 38-14 loss, I still love you Dan Hawkins!) The students got rowdy and threw stuff (gold towels) onto the field.
They can be a rowdy bunch....They got evicted from the stadium one year (the whole flippin' student section) when they played Nebraska.
Word had it that Nebraska fans spit on Chase Daniel (Mizzu QB). I don't believe it, but I wasn't there.
My son is the big Nebraska Fan. He's 18 and attends CU but his heart is in Nebraska. We agonized -- but couldn't afford the out-of-state tuition.
Nebraska had possesion of the ball, A LOT, but couldn't punch it in. Big time loss 52-10 to #3 Missouri.
Because I was working, I missed the weekly Notre Dame game...

from Texas, 'cause the only Aggies I know of are the (Formerly known as) 'Aggies' of Oklahoma A&M (The currently Oklahoma St.)
I think after this coming weekend there will be only one undefeated team from the state of Oklahoma - Tulsa!!! T.U. (The HIGHEST scoring offense in the NCAA) plays at SMU (aka the Dead Ponies), Blow-U plays the 'Horns and the 'Aggies' play at Miss-ou.

Two Sooners and a UT fan are walking to the Cotton Bowl together for the game.
As they round a corner there in front of them is an unconcious woman laying naked and face up on the sidewalk.
While a 4th fair patron runs to summon the police, the 3 game-goers decide that the noble thing to do is to protect this womans modesty.
So they take their ball caps off and cover her privates with them.
After the police arrive they determine she is dead and they begin to write their reports.
One young officer was assigned the task of describing the victims body. He lifts the "Sooners" cap off of her left breast stares for a brief moment and then sets it gently back in place and begins to write in his notepad.
Next he lifts the "OU" cap off of the womans right breast, studies it for a brief moment and then sets it too back gently and again writes in his notepad.
Finally he lifts the "HORNS" ballcap off of her pubic region. He studies it for a few moments and then sets the cap down and begins to scratch his head. He thinks for a few moments and then lifts the hat again. Again he puts it back down and scratches his head.
As he begins to lift the cap for the 3rd time, the UT fan has had enough.
"Hey there, young fella" he yells "what are you some sorta perv?? Or have you just never seen one of them before??"
"No Sir" the young officer replies. "Usually the only thing we ever find under a HORNS cap is an asshole"

A Sooner fan, a Univ of Texas fan and a Oklahoma State fan were all in Saudi Arabia, sharing a smuggled crate of booze. All of a sudden the Saudi police rushed in and arrested them. The mere possession of alcohol is a severe offense in Saudi Arabia, so for the terrible crime of actually being caught consuming the booze, they were sentenced to death!
However, after many months and with the help of very good lawyers, they were able to successfully appeal their sentence down to life imprisonment. By a stroke of luck, it was a Saudi national holiday the day their trial finished, and the extremely benevolent Sheik decided they could be released after receiving just 20 lashes each of the whip. As they were preparing for their punishment, the Sheik suddenly said, "It's my first wife's birthday today, and she has asked me to allow each of you one wish before your whipping."
The Oklahoma State fan was first in line (he had drunk the least), so he thought about this for a while and then said, "Please tie a pillow to my back." This was done, but the pillow only lasted 10 lashes before the whip went through. The Oklahoma State fan had to be carried away bleeding and weak with pain when the punishment was done.
The Texas fan was next up (he almost finished an entire fifth by himself), and after watching the scene, said "All Right! Please fix two pillows on my back." But even two pillows could only take 15 lashes before the whip went through again, sending the Texas fan out crying like the little girly man he so clearly was (a la Hans und Franz).
The Sooner fan was the last one up (he had finished off the crate), but before he could say anything, the Sheik turned to him and said, "You support the greatest team in the world, your alumni has some of the best and most loyal football fans in the world. For this, you may have two wishes!"
"Thanks, your most Royal highness," the Sooner fan replies. "In recognition of your kindness, my first wish is that you give me not 20, but 100 lashes."
"Not only are you an honorable, handsome and powerful man, you are also very brave," the Sheik says with an admiring look on his face. "If 100 lashes is what you desire, then so be it. And your second wish? What is it to be?" the Sheik asks.
"Tie the Texas fan to my back."

A first grade teacher in Austin, Tx, explains to her class that she is a Longhorn fan.
She asks her students to raise their hands if they, too, are Longhorn fans. Everyone in the class raises their hand except one little girl...
The teacher looks at the girl with surprise and says, " Janie, why didn't you raise your hand?"
"Because I'm not a Longhorn fan " she replied. The teacher, still shocked, asked "Well, if you are not a Longhorn fan, then who are you a fan of?"
"I am a Sooner fan," Janie replied. The teacher could not believe her ears. "Janie, WHY are you a Sooner fan?"
"Because my Mom is a Sooner fan, my Dad is a Sooner fan, so I am a Sooner fan also."
"Well" said the teacher, in an obviously annoyed tone, "that is no reason for you to be a Sooner fan. You don't have to be just like your parents all the time. What if your Mom was a snotty arrogant jackass and your Dad was a snotty arrogant jackass, what would you be then?"
"Then" Janie smiled,"We'd be Longhorn fans."
-----------------------------
An OU fan and a UT fan were both in the Cotton Bowl restroom...after getting through w/ their business...the UT fan washed his hands and the OU fan didnt.
The UT fan couldn't help but notice and said...."yea over in Texas...they teach us to wash our hands"....
the OU fan said..."yea well in Oklahoma...they teach us not to pee on our hands"....and with that, he walked out.

I am really looking forward to the Texas-OU game. I don't have a favorite. It should be a good game...a clash of the Titans....and I'm glad that it's a Big 12 televised match.

And what about those Cornhuskers...ten points!
I haven't seen any Penn State games this year. Is Paterno still suffering from his earlier leg injury?
Kentucky barely lost to ranked Georgia 42 - 38. Uk had the ball on the UGA 13 with 45 seconds to go to win the game...then foolishly served up an interception to an D lineman. Look for UK to beat Vanderbilt this week.

Of course, OSU is THE, repeat THE SCHOOL of COLLEGIATE WRESTLING (No other school in the NCAA comes EVEN close):
"Oklahoma State Cowboys wrestling"
"The Cowboy wrestling team is among the most storied programs in college wrestling. The Pokes brought home their 33rd NCAA championship in spring 2005, scoring the most points ever by an Oklahoma State wrestling team in the NCAA. OSU won their 34th overall (and 4th consecutive) title in 2006. OSU's 34 team titles are the most ever collected by a school in one sport. The Cowboys have also produced 127 individual national champions, including the sport's first-ever four-time champion, Pat Smith."
Update: The creator of the first "Personal Computer" was an OSU grad still attending classes at Stillwater when he built the very first one (I didnt catch his name on the news segment, but he is a native of this state) - So people who tend to think Oklahomans are idiots need to get a clue.

I've been sick with the flu for about a week, so I missed most of the games this weekend. The drugs are good, but leave me in a zombie condition... (Now I understand why some people die from the flu. This is some nasty stuff and I even got the flu shot.)
OK, back to business... didn't OU give Tech its loss? So now the Big 12 South has 3 (or 4) teams vying for the top spot?
Livia

This is the best explanation I've read - and fairly easy to follow, especially if you're a fan of UT:
Let me try to see if I can make any sense of this from all the articles I've read.
So can Texas go to the NC game without playing in the Big XII Championship game? Yes! Here is why... If OU happens to lose to OSU, then that means TxTech would be in the Big XII Championship game and not Texas. Tech holds the face to face meeting over Texas, meaning they fly out to Kansas City to play Mizzou. Tech is too far behind with this loss to OU, that it wouldn't matter who wins that game because Texas would still be ahead of them and go to the NC game. If OU wins and goes to Kansas City to play Mizzou, then OU would have to lose and Texas sitting at #3 would jump into the #2 spot with an OU loss, or even #1 with an OU and a Alabama loss in their championship games. Florida would probably be #1 with a win over Alabama though. Regardless we take a spot in the NC game.
Can OU and Texas play for the NC game? Yes. A LOT of things have to happen for this to happen. First OU would have to win out and so would Texas. Next week Auburn would have to beat Alabama and Florida State would have to beat Florida. Then in the SEC championship game Florida would have to beat Alabama. This would mean that Alabama and Florida would have 2 losses in the season and wouldn't have an argument about not being in the NC game. The final BCS standings would probably be #1 OU - #2 Texas - #3 USC. Since the BCS NC game is solely based on the ranking of where the teams are in the final week, that would mean Texas and OU would have to play one another. This would probably create A LOT of controversy between conferences and probably that would be the end of the BCS NC game. At that point I think A LOT of universities might push for a play-off system.
Can Texas be left out in the cold? Yes. If OU wins out (which seems like the biggest possibility), and Florida Beats Alabama then it would be Florida and OU in the NC game. Texas would probably get the Fiesta Bowl bid against any of the following... USC (if Oregon State wins out), Utah, Ohio State (If Oregon State loses then USC would go to the Rose Bowl, which means Ohio State gets into a BCS bowl), or we might even go to the Sugar Bowl and play Alabama.
I know I had a headache after reading about 10 articles about all these scenarios. Oh wait... None of this matters if Texas doesn't beat Texas A&M. If Texas beats A&M then you should probably start cheering for OSU and if they don't beat OU, then cheer on Mizzou! That's the easiest way we get into the NC game.
What happened in the Vandy Kentucky game? I saw a score that was 14-0 but never heard the final. (We don't get the Sunday paper anymore. :distress:) It's our way of cutting back in these slim times. Next will be the satellite dish
I saw where Nebraska won but didn't get the score on that one either.
Brian j - your Oklahoma State Cowboys beat Colorado (as we knew they would) but there were some flukes, like that touchdown CU got...the Gods were smiling on those kids.
Sadly for UK fans, Vandy won 27-20. Next up ending "the streak" versus Tennessee.

God, we suck like a BIG ORANGE this year, but at least we finally got rid of our coach, THE GREAT PUMPKIN Phil Fulmer.
I just hope we finally get someone good in the coach's position.

So can Texas go to the NC game without playing in the Big XII Championship game? Yes! Here is why... If OU happens to lose to OSU,
Florida Beats Alabama then it would be Florida and OU in the NC game.

I predict the OSU "Aggies" are going to shock the Boo-hoo Sooners tomorrow. Forget the "if"!!!
I would love to see Florida put about 60-70 on 'Bama...Of course putting 60-70 on Blow-You would be prefered in a National Championship game.
USC blowing St.Penn to pieces in the Rose Bowl would be a good start for a year considering how much THIS YEAR has sucked!!!

I can't remember who Oklahoma plays before the BCS games, but based on their performance against A&M, the Longhorns might just leapfrog over THe Sooners into the title game. Of course Alabama could lose to LSU and wed have one fun time figuring that **** out. Jesus what a cluster****!

my typo a few posts ago. It was Auburn, not LSU that Alabama had to beat, which they DESTROYED 36-0. Obviously, 1/2 of the BCS title game has been decided with the other half still somewhat up in the air. I have a hard time figuring out if its gonna be Texas or Oklahoma. Either way, there will be alot of pissed off fans! BTW, I guess Nick Saban doesnt look too bad these days, after his fiasco in Miami.

ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!
That was the most important game they played this year (always is).
A national championship is worthless to the Tide fans without beating
those Tigers.
And as for Saban, I'm glad he left the Dolphins. He did them a big favor.
Now they've turned things around too. Everybody won in this situation.
So, GO DOLPHINS and Roll on big Tide!

Well, the BCS standings just came out, and Oklahoma is #2, which means they will play Missouri for the big 12 championship. IF they win, that would mean they would play Alabama in the BCS title game, if they lose, well, probably Texas would sneak back in but who knows. UGH I'm getting a headache trying to figure this out!:p

has to get by the Gators first, and Boohoo has to beat Missouri just to get that BCS title game...Boohoo is the WORST collegiate POOR-SPORTSMANSHIP school in all sports, they dont get their way their president David Boren will shed a tear and ask for a Congressional Inquiry into WHY Blow-YOU were cheated, THAT is more important than the economy/jobs/terrorism to those at that OVERPRICED school (Who raised tuition by about 10% to PAY for their overpayed head-coach, the HIGHEST payed 'state employee' in Oklahoma...Horse****!!!)

The entire BCS system is a crock of ****. This year, it was UT's turn to get screwed. I didn't realize until yesterday that the SEC's tie-breaker rule is different than the Big 12's. In the SEC, whichever top 2 team won the head-to-head is the conference winner. The Big 12 leaving it up to the computers is even more BS on top of BS. The NCAA should enforce the same tie-breaker rule to all the conferences. Also, the Big 12 should no longer have north and south divisions. It should be 12 teams, period. Or better yet, let's have a play-off system!!
If OU ends up in the championship game, which they probably will, I hope they get their asses kicked! :p

Old news...
I loved the Nebraska-Colorado game. Husband and 18 year old were rooting for NU...and even though I graduated from there, I preferred to sit on neutral territory (the other couch). I liked how there were unusal plays which worked and didn't work. These are just kids and I think that's what's so appealed about college ball.
As for CU, I still love you Dan Hawkins, but you've been here for 3 years.... I am wondering if he just can't recruit kids to come to Colorado... "The drinking school with a football problem."
I also enjoyed seeing Kansas Beat Missouri. I read where after the Nebraska game, Chase Daniel said NU people spit on him...and then, the claim was dropped because it couldn't be substantiated.
The Oklahoma-Oklahoma State game didn't give me the outcome I wanted either but I felt OSU stayed with them better than I expected.
Any thoughts on Notre Dame getting a new coach?

LONGHORNS FOOTBALL
Air attack on Mack
Plane tows banner tweaking Texas coach.
By John Maher
AMERICAN-STATESMAN STAFF
Friday, December 05, 2008
A retaliatory air strike was launched Thursday in what has become a battle of the banners among college football fans.
For two hours around lunchtime in the bright blue skies over Austin, a Korean War-era Bird Dog circled Royal-Memorial Stadium and the University of Texas campus, towing a red banner that urged, "Hey Mack, quit whining U knew the rules."
The message was a response to one that some University of Texas fans sent to Stillwater, Okla., last weekend reminding Oklahoma fans and —ESPN's "College GameDay" crew — that Texas had beaten Oklahoma 45-35 in October.
In the end, the Texas PR air war and some late lobbying by Longhorns coach Mack Brown came up short, as Oklahoma won the votes needed to edge Texas and Texas Tech in a three-way tiebreaker for a spot in the Big 12 championship game.
Matt Parks, a UT senior who set up the Web site www.45-35.com as part of the Texas campaign, said the Stillwater flyover had stuck to the score of the Texas-OU game and didn't disrespect the University of Oklahoma or its coach. He had a different view of Thursday's flight over Austin.
"It's hard not to take it in a negative light," Parks said.
The man who piloted the plane Thursday didn't see it that way.
"I'm a real big UT fan. I would never pull anything that would put down UT," said Don Arsenault, owner of Aerial Advertisers of Round Rock.
Arsenault said that he wouldn't pull a banner that urged the firing of a UT coach, for instance, and that Thursday's banner was humorous.
On the UT campus, many students walked about oblivious to the plane, not looking up. Among the Austinites who did watch, the first assumption was that the banner was the work of retaliation-minded Oklahoma fans. But was that banner Oklahoma crimson or was it Texas Tech red?
Both contingents had reason to tweak Texas. At the Tech-defending Web site www.39-33.com, named after "the game that Texas Longhorn fans seem to have forgotten," the word was that a Texas Tech alum had called for the air strike.
For his part, Arsenault declined to identify the buyers and said the flight had been arranged through another firm, National Sky Ads in Long Island, N.Y. The owner of that company, Ted de Reeder, said, "It was a rebuttal."
De Reeder said that the buyers wanted to remain anonymous but that they were from Texas. "A couple of them used to be Oklahoma boys," de Reeder added.
Arsenault declined to say how much the flight cost but said rates were usually $350 to $400 per hour.
Arsenault's plane used to have a bigger presence at UT games, but after Sept. 11, planes have not been allowed to fly closer than three miles to stadiums on game days and can't be in the air an hour before or after the game.
A spokesman for Austin-Bergstrom International Airport said Arsenault stayed at the appropriate altitude Thursday and didn't violate the airport's airspace or break any rules.
Of the recent upturn in business, de Reeder said, "We love to fly rebuttals. We'll fly them anywhere. It doesn't have to be Austin. It could be Miami or Maine."
For the Big 12 South, 2008 has been a year of rivalries contested on the field, in the polls and now, in the skies.

I have been sick and not watching TV. I didn't find out until last night that OU plays Missouri for the Big 12 championship.
I thought it was gonna be Texas in that game not OU....for the simple reason that Texas beat OU.

Buffalo didn't beat Connecticut 20-38 -- darn, darn, darn (Buffalo's Coach is none other than Turner Gill, ex-quarterback of Go Big Red fame.) I used to watch him play at NU.
Nebraska Beat Clemson 26-21 (Go Big Red! I love you Joe Ganz! I was worried when you got hurt!)
Way to go Utes (Utah ) by beating Alabama!
USC's win over Penn State ----- after seeing the 60 Minutes segment on Pete Carroll, I kinda like the fella. Joe Pa - you sound like an angry old man...
