"Her speech was salty & fun, no doubt about it. But all this vapid excitement over political speeches & conventions -- the only value a political speech has to me is aesthetic value, & precious few of them are Lincolnian Gettysburg Addresses or Thucydidean Funeral Orations."
-- Stevie Nicks, on Sarah Palin's recent convention speech

I've never heard of any political quotes from Stevie. I always thought she kept that part of her life kinda quiet. Does anyone even know if she's a Republican or Democrat?
I always thought she'd be more of a Democrat because she hates the war so much.

She has only contributed money to Democrats. You can search for her name on websites that track political contributions. But I don't think she has ever said she hated the current war. One of the members of Fritz said that he and Lindsey went to pick up Stevie from her house, Stevie's mom told them "Why don't you boys just go to Vietnam?". It makes me wonder what kind of beliefs she picked up from home.

Barbara and Jess are/were hardcore Republicans.

I sort of liked
"Pack up your tranquilizers, we're going to Washington!"

I think she's more conservative than her former lifestyle would lead one to believe. But that's not to say she's a Conservative. She presents herself as apolitical, and probably is. Think how many chances she has had through her work with the soldiers to say something either in support of or against the war and she has absolutely chosen not to.
David, here's my favorite quote:
"Gypsy Rock 'n Roll Princesses don't have time to worry about politics. My life is just one big crazy rock show. You know? Even without all the drugs and stuff that used to go on it's still that crazy. Today is what we call a day off, and I'm doing an interview, I'm doing a video tommorow, I have to have a pedicure and manicure this afternoon, I have to talk to all the different wardrobe and hair people one more time today, I have to drive to Long Beach to stay at a Hyatt so I can be close to the shoot and be there early in the morning because you know I don't get up early."
(Only the first sentence is made up, btw.)

IF it were true, I would just be blown away that she would be familier with Pericles' Funeral Oration as recorded by Thucydides.

Republicans can hate the war too. And I'm sure lots of them do.
But McCain does represent Arizona so that might have some kind of influence.

She played at the Clinton inaugeration and she said on Letterman when he asked her what she tought of Clinton something like it is a bit strange to have someone in office who is our age.
Niether of these speak to her political afilliation but I suspect she leans Dem.
About her brother being "harcore" republican what is the source of this?

When asked by Letterman would she vote for him (again) she said no.
I would rather all of them stay out of politics, that way everyone can enjoy their
music.

I read in an article awhile back, someone asked her if she was a Republican or a democrat. She said, "I don't have an opinion, I can't have an opinion." I'll have to look for the article and I will post a link.
I think she just kind of has different opinions on different issues. She probably doesn't side either or...IMO

Well, I couldn't find a clip of the interview, and I haven't dug through all my old VHS tapes, but from what I remember she didn't say "no" exactly. She said that she thought he was too young. She said something like "He is my age, and I have trouble deciding who is going to ride on which bus" refering to the fact that they were traveling by bus on the Street Angel tour. Which I guess was her way of saying "no" without saying it.

I recall her saying that she couldn't have (or perhaps wouldn't state) an opinion on the war, but that her sympathies lay solely with the soldiers who were out there fighting it.
