Okay, i know stevie in 84 started her third solo album called mirror mirror, and recorded many songs that were supposed to be on this album, but than decided to scrap it and do something different...now does anyone know what would have been on this album...here is what i think would have been on the album:

1) mirror, mirror
2) running through the garden
3) love is like a river
4) thousand days
5) at the fair
6) i sing for the things
7) battle of the dragon
8) the nightmare
9) one more big time rock and roll star
10) reconsider me
11) no spoken word
12) has anyone ever written anything for you

for some reason i think i can't wait wasn't originally used, and talk to me was brought to her later on in the sessions for rock a little...

i also think greta was originally supposed to be on mirror mirror...i wonder why she scrapped the album, i think it would have been a lot better than rock a little

I don't understand why she didn't use Mirror, Mirror. It's a really powerful song in my opinion. And it's a whole lot better than some of the other songs on RAL.

Yeah I think Mirror,Mirror would've been a great LP ....she had like so many songs for that LP as well as those slated for RAL....RAL is just so disjointed of an LP....it could've been alot better. Even the producers didn't make the correct choices to me. I think the songs not left on the LP were better than what were chosen. I mean first of all for RAL the lead song isn't even the 'full' completed version. We all know the title cut if at least 5:15 (from the UK version) how can you 'cut' or edit the title song. What if they'd done that to the title cuts to BD or WH or Mirror....it makes like no sense really I love that song in its full version not the edited out version. I also love the song Mirror, Mirror.....amoung many others. I don't like Sister Honey or Imperial Hotel...those to me are only 'filler' songs.....with the others that exsisted how or why did they chose those I can't understand really. Plus if Jimmy Iovine had stayed on I think it would've been a much better LP....lets not forget the song Reconsider Me by Warren Zevon that she also recorded for RAL/or MM? I realize that there were issues between Stevie and Jimmy but its such a shame I think it would've been a wonderful LP......a missed opportunity reallly.....yes what could've been....its sad to think......IMO anyway.....:confused:

I still love RAL because to me it has a darker feel to it. Stevie's raw vocals really pull me in.

I burned a seperate copy and put "Mirror, Mirror" and "Rock A Little (Extended Version)" at the end as bonus tracks.

i could definitely be wrong here, but i believe the 3rd solo album always was to be called Rock A Little and never Mirror, Mirror...i'm going on memory here, but i was living in LA and lived and breathed all things Stevie, and, lol, spoke on a bi-weekly basis with the switchboard gal at Modern, who told me i wouldn't believe all the calls that came in daily regarding Stevie's next album (i asked if she minded me calling, and she said, 'no, check in every couple of weeks 'cause i know whatever i'll tell you, it will reach some of the other fans')-- well, in our conversations, she always called it 'Rock A Little' and i seem to recall an LA press interview in which Stevie said 'the new album is called Rock A Little and i haven't even written the title song, but it's going to have to be really good, since it's the name of the album"-
If anyone here knows for sure that 'Mirror Mirror' was indeed a planned release, i apologize, and 'give'--- it's just my memory (which could be wrong) saying it was always 'Rock A Little.' I do remember that Jimmy Iovine stepped down as producer during the recording sessions, which seemed very slow-going at the time. In retropsect, it didn't take all that long between 'Wild Heart' and 'RAL' compared to recent waiting....

i have interviews with stevie during the promotion of RAL and she says, that the title song was written before bella donna, and that it is was about when she bought her big house on the ocean (which was in 1980) and the waves of the ocean would crash on the cliff and rock her house and she was all alone and she would rock back and forth with the waves..."just like the sea...just like me...and still we rock a little..." and i have a interview with stevie during TOSOTM era, where the interviewer asks her about the title of that album and she says its an extension of rock a little, which was originally titled mirror mirror, is our refection what we want to see staring back at us, is the world on the other side of the mirror just as good and just as bad as the world we live in now

Sometimes I wonder why famous people don't have people around them to tell them things like "DON'T go to the academy awards wearing that dress you look awful and everyone's going to be saying so tomorrow!" Do the people that surround them just yes them to death? It seems like Stevie needs better people around her sometimes too. I would have loved the "Mirror Mirror" album better than the Rock a Little album that we got. You'd think someone would have told her, "Stevie this stuff is great, don't scrap it."

As a side note, I like the song Rock A Little that was released, but I really, really, really like the original song where she talks about the earthquake and the house shaking. That's one of my all time faves. I love it! It's a totally different song than the song that was released. I wish someone would have told her not to change it. Just my 2 cents.
