From PBS. Same as broadcast - no edge walk, no BATB.
Kinda po'd since I flew to Chicago for this and someone decided to cut out the fans during Edge. Hope the dvd on Amazon will have the missing pieces.
Only good note is the graphics are really cool while navigating through the dvd.
:(

Oh, one more reason to be cranky is when PBS offered this they claim additional footage.

I've heard of one other person to receive their DVD... That's great! I'm glad PBS came through after all... and yeah, at the end of each broadcast, they said there would be bonus footage on the DVD not shown on TV!!... Bastards!

So what songs were performed that didn't make the DVD, aside from the edge walk?

I know of:
Dreams
Beauty and The Beast

You've got to be kidding me?! Those slimy bastards!! There better be something extra on this dvd, as they advertised, or they will be getting an earful from me, AND they can take their dvd and shove it up their ass! Seriously!

Yeah, along with her 9/11 song "We Got Back On The Plane", and a trailer of the Rhiannon movie.

Yeah, along with her 9/11 song "We Got Back On The Plane", and a trailer of the Rhiannon movie.

;) I was actually hoping that maybe someone with a brain in her camp would suggest throwing one of her performances of "Face the Promise" on the CD. I would love to get a clean copy of that. Was Dreams on the PBS DVD? I see Seattle Mark mentioned no BATB, but he didn't mention Dreams. Well, if there really isn't any unaired footage I'd be po'ed. I'm glad I didn't order it. I can just watch my DVR of it for free and wait till December, or whenever.

I know this was meant to be tongue in cheek, but so true and falls into the category of
"yeah right"

Actually, I wonder if someone is going to call PBS and ask a customer service rep about the missing additional footage that was mentioned at the end of the broadcast and see what they say.
If no one does that by the time I get mine, I just might call them and ask.

I've emailed them and told them if there is no additional footage on the dvd they are shipping, to cancel my order. I'm not going to pay $25 for the PBS copy and then have to pay another $20 for the bonus tracks on the one that is released when it gets mass marketed. I don't think I'll ever order anything else from PBS again.

Wow! This is very interesting.
So PBS is packaging their own version of this show and then in December, a WB release drops, which may or may not be the same DVD? WTF?
This is super dumb.

For those of you have it, what are the audio options?

You know I can't say I blame you at all. My boyfriend and I both remembered PBS saying at the end of the Soundstage special to order "now" and this will INCLUDE "extra footage".. I'm going to watch my free taped copy, and listen for what they said again. That is TOTAL false advertising on PBS's part if this is what they are doing, and that just sucks! We definitely need to call them on this one!

Arlene, I know for a fact that they advertised this dvd to have bonus material, which apparently it does not. They definitely should be called on it. It's not good business practice to do this. It would be considered by many to be false advertising. Not honorable at all. From the delayed shipping, to duping the public on what is on the dvd, they have handled this completely wrong.

Am I seeing a MasterCard logo on the cover and back cover? God, that's tacky.

Could someone that received the DVD let me know what companies are branded on the lower back cover?

I couldn't tell if the package artwork featured a Warner Home Video logo - or one of its subsidiairies.

It's very possible that the delays have to do with manufacturing, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if DVDs purchased from PBS - in what appeared to be very slim cases, unlike standard Soundstage releases - are the result of an expedited, limited run just for it's fund-raising period (i.e. done on the cheap and struck from broadcast master. The eventual retail release may feature the promised extras. I'll reserve comment until I see more detail on packaging.

Warner Home Direct still does not have buying information for retailers or media. whvdirect.com

It's all guess work at this point. Still, PBS should be alerted that it falsely advertised the product. Misleading donors doesn't sit well with those watching the bottom line.

There's no rep for Warner, that's why think this batch of Stevie DVDs is a short production run for PBS' benefit. Well, I hope.

Most effective way to correspond is to wait until Wednesday. With Monday a holiday, publicist typically have very full email boxes on Tuesday following a holiday. They will ignore all but the most immediate issues. Wednesday, they'll notice it and possibly address it.

Yes, it's a rotten way to tread the fans, given the fact that it was advertised as having bonus footage. But who knows if this thing will ever see the light of day through conventional channels - with bonus footage... So I say grab it while you can. A year from now when we are on our 10th date pushed back - PBS may not be selling any longer. If it does see the light of day... Great!

I think it's fine for those people who live in areas where it did not air, but for those of us who did see it (and record it), it's pointless to buy it from PBS. I still don't think it makes any sense to air it prior to selling the DVD, especially given the fact the DVD has no extras.

Now it's pointless to buy from PBS (if you saw it and recorded it) because we now know there's no extras! We didn't know that prior to people receiving their copies.

I bought completely under the assumption, that the DVD would contain the bonus footage... If I had known prior that it wasn't going to be on it, then I would have waited... and just enjoyed what I recorded in the meantime.

Well on the positive side, since you probably can't get your money back now, at least you are supporting public television! I don't know though, maybe it would be possible to get a refund based on the fact that it was advertised to have extras and didn't? Is anyone going to try?

What happened?

A couple days before the taping, she e-mailed everybody re: instructions on where to go, where to park, what to expect, etc. Except for the fact that she sent it so that everyone's e-mail address was viewable to everyone else- some including people's full names & places of employment. I remember looking at it and picking out all the Ledgies that apparently were going to be there.

I ordered a copy of the dvd from PBS last night because...

with all the release date changes, I am deathly afraid that it will never be released...

just as I waited for the Melbourne DVD!!!

I would advise everyone to do the same before PBS runs out of it...

and it slowly becomes a collector's item...

placed deeply into Stevie's bulging iron vault of unreleased material...

It may not have bonus material... but at least it will be pristine quality...

Why does her releasing of material always end up to be such a production?

Instead of releasing her stuff... she forces her fans to rely on bootlegs to

acquire anything!!!!

I have to agree. Why would anyone want to "give" their money to a company that has mis-lead the public to believe that there is extra footage on a program, where everyone that has gotten the dvd, so far is saying there isn't? Plus, Amazon.com has the same thing for less money, and (hopefully) there just MAY be extra footage on that one.. If not, at least they didn't "promise" the public there is, as PBS did.. :distress:

If she'd just share some of this stuff we wouldn't need to get it by other means that is.....sad but it won't happen. Plus she truely doesn't care anymore....sad to say but I don't think so. I didn't tape it and I didn't order this dvd from PBS like so many did. So I guess I won't have any copy of it....unless it does see the light of day that is?? I've been thinking about that, and I wonder if this is a matter of semantics.

At the end of each part, the announcer says, "to order Stevie Nicks on DVD, with bonus footage not seen on tonight's broadcast."

I'm wondering if, when they used that wording at the end of Part 1, they were considering the songs from Part 2 as the "bonus footage not seen on tonight's broadcast."

And then, of course, vice versa.

Mind you, even if that is the case, it's an extremely misleading way to word things.

The last few days, that thought actually crossed my mind as to what PBS "meant" by bonus footage. From what I can tell, as long as we've been making comments on Soundstage here, no one suggested that's what PBS was offering as bonus material. So for the majority of folks seeing this, that is not the impression they got. Let's not forget too, that when the credits were rolling, Stevie dressed in her BATB attire was being shown. To me, that would be an indication of it being part of what the extra footage would be. I guess it's no big deal really, except for our frustration and PBS' lack of principle. There is a return policy on their website that states "we're not happy, if you're not happy". So I think PBS will gladly refund the money to anyone who does not want this dvd as it stands now.

That's what I'm holding out for. Let's hope there is some cool stuff not seen on the PBS broadcast. With the overwhelming response PBS supposedly got, why wouldn't someone want to market this and make some money on it? Not to mention, they may be wanting to use Stevie's Soundstage as a promotional tool for the FM tour next year or vice versa. That's probably why they are pushing it back.

To me it really doesn't matter who is ultimately responsible for what the dvd contains. I've cancelled my order. I'm done with it. Perhaps PBS doesn't bear all the blame, but Soundstage does air on their station and that's where the advertisement was made. So, to that extent they should be held somewhat accountable.

Exactly what i logged on to type what i thought was PBS' "out" though you said it better than i would've, Mr. Stew. "Edge of 17" wasn't seen in Part 1, so people ordering that week would (technically) get material not seen on PBS that night when ordering the DVD. I'm just amazed there's a release of this DVD without Dreams! Ha-- the one Stevie Nicks song i've always said i'd be happy never to hear again, and looking at the back of the DVD cover, i was like 'where's Dreams'?

Thank you. I tried to find the most intense recent Stevie stare I could find through all my screen caps I took of the Soundstage show. You know world leaders should get Stevie to glare at the bad guys and make them back down. Betcha it would work. ;)

OMG.. I'm dying laughing over here.. I have to say that Stevie's "intense stares" have to be one of the most powerful weapons there are! Remember on The Dance dvd, where Stevie is singing to Lindsey on Silver Springs how she was going to follow him down to the sound of her voice will haunt him? ROTFL.. I was thinking, 'If Stevie could only (can) that stare of hers, she could sell that as a weapon, and open it up on people who get in her way or even Lindsey when he acts like a fool".. It's hilarious..

As much as Stevie ROCKS YOUR SOCKS (as I still try to get used to it) I am surprised that you would balk at purchasing a crystal clear, beautifully filmed Stevie Nicks production--despite that it's missing "Dreams" and "Beauty & The Beast." Weren't you the one standing on a chair waving wildly at Miss Nicks just a few months ago?

Hey Pat..

That's wonderful that PBS "will" refund people's money! I'm SOO glad I ordered from Amazon, and would definitely be contacting PBS if I ordered from them, for my money back! That's just false advertising, and I'm sure the Amazon copy will have a lot of the same pictures, if not all of them, and of course the tracks, plus more. I truly do hope PBS will honor that and give those poor people back their money!

That is true. You know, it's just frustrating though, when people make claims and don't appear to follow through with them. I suppose I will more than likely buy the DVD, but I was just hoping that the things they said would on it, would be on it.

Yes that's wonderful that they have a return policy like 99% of all retailers.... And I'm SOO glad I DIDN'T order from Amazon! I can't imagine that sinking feeling in your gut you feel with every announcement that the release date has been pushed back - what are we up to 5 times now? - with an expected delivery date sometime in 2009! I feel sorry for those poor people that ordered through Amazon and fell for THEIR false advertising that it was being released...

But when you buy from Amazon and it doesn't come out on the release date, don't you get the opportunity to cancel the order? I haven't done it with music, but with books when they didn't send it to me as scheduled, they notified me of the delay and the anticipated new ship date and actually had me confirm that I still wanted it.

I've always thought it was funny that she stares at Lindsey, because he really doesn't seem to mind being stared at that much. I think he likes it. I think it actually encourages him to do misbehave rather than the other way around.

I remember laughing when she said he put her album on a stair and didn't listen to it and she said she stared at him for hours on end, until 2 a.m. in the morning or something. I just shook my head. I'm sure he ate that up. Best thing to do with him is ignore him. I think that punishment would be rather effective. Michele

Well, first of all Amazon didn't "FOOL" the public into telling them to order something with "Extra footage"- and false advertise!!! Second of all, 99% of ALL retailers don't "falsely advertise" something - knowing the truth- and doing so just to have people give them money!!! Thirdly- Amazon also gives you the chance to "APPROVE" the change that the originator has, as it's not their fault, so there is "NO" false advertising in the least with Amazon! Why give your money in good faith to someone who blatently "LIES" to the public?? No sinking feeling in my gut in the least, as I "KNOW" I'm going to get something good when it arrives! I already have a taped copy, and don't mind them re-scheduling!

The beautifully filmed video and crystal clear audio "IS" the reason to buy this DVD. I'm as disgusted as anybody about the missing material, and yes it was advertised by PBS as including it. But do we know that it was PBS decision to not include it? Maybe at the last moment Stevie Nicks herself or her rotten record company decided it should't be on there. Who pulled the plug on Stevie's last DVD release?

The other thought on this is, maybe it's going to be released closer to the time of the Fleetwood Mac tour and eventual album. It certainly would get more press. If Warner Bros even knows what press is! (See my post about Warner/Resprise in the Lindsey Buckingham thread).

When it comes down to it, I'll be ordering it from PBS because of the pristine sound and video of all SoundStage releases.

At this point I am suspicious that Soundstage will ever be released anywhere other than by PBS. I bought it there, and it would be nice if their comments were not misleading-- but I'm glad to have it at all. IF Stevie's Soundstage becomes available at Amazon on December 31st and IF it has "more" I will also buy it there, but I'm not convinced that's going to happen.

I remember a lot of people hoping "Storytellers" show would be released and it never happened. At least with this show we have a chance to get something out of PBS. Sure, it's short two songs-- but it's the best filmed presentation we have had featuring Stevie Nicks in a LONG time.

Hey Pat..

Aww.. absolutely! You know, as I was telling you yesterday, everyone is free, single and 21, (LOL) and welcome to buy anything from whoever they want. I was just saying, for me, personally, I just felt badly for the people who were "out" their money for something they paid for in "good faith" and were misled. For those buying from PBS, great! If you know about what you are getting, going into it, that's wonderful! But for me, personally, I'm very excited about the Amazon release, that as you said will be the "full and official" release! You're a doll Pat..

hey macman...ur right in saying amazon is cancelling the release date but they arent the ones who are responsible...its stevies production company warner bros who keeps changing the date...

I love Amazon.com, but they're not always accurate on release dates (or other details about an item).

I'm not sure if anyone else has pointed this out, but none of the other online retailers -- Best Buy, Walmart, Circuit City, Barnes & Noble, Borders, CD Universe, etc., etc. -- have created a page for Stevie's 'Soundstage' or offered any information in the way of potential release dates. Not even back in July when it seemed the release was just a couple of weeks away.

Plus, there has never been an official announcement from Warner Bros about it. And you can bet there'd be a press release of some sort.

My advice -- if anyone wants it -- is to watch and wait, and not take every one of Amazon's ever-changing release dates to heart. Trust me, we'll all know for sure when it's really coming out.

Thanks SO much! I don't really think any of us are totally "relying" on Amazon's date information, as all they can go by is what they are told by Warner Brothers.. LOLOL.. I do, however value the fact that Amazon, is the place to have the official copy of Soundstage that "most" of us are after!

I wouldn't be so certain that they're even going by that. From what I was told recently by a very reliable source, Stevie's 'Soundstage' has yet to be listed at whvdirect.com (Warner Home Video's business site, which is used by retailers, etc., for information on upcoming releases).

So it's a mystery as to where Amazon is getting their information.

So PBS is packaging their own version of this show and then in December, a WB release drops, which may or may not be the same DVD? WTF?
This is super dumb.

For those of you have it, what are the audio options?

audio is 5.1 suround sound or Stereo in High Definition actually much better than actual broadcast the picture is amazing and sound just wish they put in dreams and beauty and the beast maybe she is just putting the audio cd and adding those two songs in the audio cd instead or she could release another dvd of the same show with those added into it who knows. But she might not of liked the way it came off camera for those songs and decided to scrap them for the dvd.

i am probably wrong but she also is one of the executive producer on the soundstage which is the last of the ending credits so I am sure she had some decision on what songs will go on the dvd I am sure sound stage doesn't care what songs she puts on the dvd it is still stevie's show the soundstage as well I believe so maybe that is why she didnt want the edge walk in there either which i dont know why that is not on the dvd either cause that is also part of the song where she does her meet and greets at the end of the stage which is awesome its I am agreeing with you for to leave out dreams which is a staple in all her concerts especially but don't know why unless she is just releasing the audio part of dreams and beauty and the beast for the cd release of soundstage. I am wondering why the delay of Stevie's soundstage dvd to public release is that Stevie's Crystal Visions cd and dvd was her ending contract cd with Reprise Records and she has no record label or contract at this time and that is why it keeps getting delayed maybe she has to approuch another record company to take her soundstage on and that is probably why she played Destination Unknown by Missing Persons before come out to sing. does anyone else wonder that cause the soundstage fleetwood mac cd/dvd was releases thru warner bros. records. and stevie's soundstage is release thru pbs not her record label.? curious if you think she is finding another label to go to cause that her playing Destination Unknown at the shows was a sign saying she doesn't have a record label right now and that is why her cd/dvd of sounstage is being stalled to be released. I dont want to start a rumour this is a though anyone think the same thing?

Well I couldn't wait...... I ordered my Stevie SoundStage DVD today.

I kept thinking, what if PBS is the only way to get it.

If I waited and it became unavailable (I doubt it), I'd kick myself......

Well, we're all hopeing that on the Dvd that Warner Brothers is working on, with Amazon- we're hoping that they may add several more songs to that one, that was on the PBS version, but no one actually knows yet..?

my PBS DVD finally arrived yesterday and I'm sitting here watching it for the 4th time - great job by Stevie and the band!

First of all, I know it's been about 1o years since "the Dance" but I will say, Stevie looks better than she did on that concert video. She has aged so beautifully...and this DVD is her "Dance!"

I love so much about this set.. the Stand Back foggy/black and white twirl; her hand motions throughout; the bare trees during "edge"; the backdrops; the videos; the lighting; the band; how hot she looks in her "pants'.. ok.. one small complaint about the Stand Back twirls.. when Stevie begins her spins.,, the camera needs to be on her.. not the Waddy.. :-)

my favorite tracks are How Still My Love (simply amazing); Gold Dust Woman (beautiful ending); and "Edge of Seventeen" - I know we didn't get the walk, but I thought the ending was hot! I love the violins... When I saw the white wing doves flapping on the walls, it reminded me of my show at Atlantic City.. the doves were there, too, and "Rhiannon" and her gossamer wings flapping in the winds..

and about "Sara".. I absolutely adore her for doing this song and her reason for doing this FM standard.. "the guilt letter.."

beautiful show.. I would have loved to have had "Beauty and the Beast" I know the violins sounded beautiful on that song.. and it's really weird to end a Stevie show with such a "Rock and Roller..." but, oh well.. we have this wonderful set.. I love it!

This kind of sucks,Hack out key parts of the show,No Dreams, EO17 walk and others. I just wait to it shows up in Wal-mart next year.as I said on an other post, Stevie performance was awesome, but the production of the show was horrid, due to the PBS hackers in the editing room.Probably if Stevie's people went to HBO, Showtime or VH1 that can run the spacial in it's full length.we might get a complete show.I was hoping like all of you the concert was all intacted on the DVD.

At this point I'm wondering if I should return it and wait for the more complete version to come out. I'm leaning towards that - why have two copies? However, the wait won't be fun!

Hi, guys,

I am also disappointed that the DVD doesn't have the extra stuff on it. I don't mind so much about "Dreams," but I was really looking forward to having "Beauty" in hi def. I can see Stevie wearing her little "Beauty" hat while the credits roll, so I am like...wahhh. ;-)

I have no idea what Amazon is doing, or if Soundstage was playing semantics games or what, but I did write to ask them what's going on, and to express my disappointment and say that while I am happy to have the DVD, I feel misled about the bonus footage.

They have a contact form you can find here: http://www.pbs.org/wttw/soundstage/contact.html if you also want to write in with your two cents.

I'll post their reply as soon as I get one. Perhaps if we make enough noise, they'll provide a suitable answer - whether it's "Yeah, calm down, it'll be on Amazon in December" or "I said no, sucka!" At least then we'd know. ;-)

PS - This is off-topic, but can someone please tell me how some of you get the bigger photos in your signatures? It keeps squashing my Scary Mick Eyes pic all small. Thank you!

I too have ordered the PBS dvd because I suspect that the official release will be some time off (ie beyond December 31). I read somewhere that the recently released Heart Soundstage dvd was issued through PBS two years ago and has only just been released on a wider scale (I don't know if the two versions differ from one another or not). This may be an indication of the wait we could be in for with Stevie's?
Also, if my memory serves me correctly, weren't two distinct versions of Landslide and Circle Dance performed? I thought there were the orchestral versions screened as well as acoustic versions. If this was indeed the case, shouldn't we be hoping for these as extras in addition to Dreams and Beauty And The Beast?

:distress: We here on The Ledge promote the purchasing of officially released material not where you can download it at zero benefit to the artist.

I agree David...I really enjoyed that song on the Gold Dust Tour when she sang the melody through the whole song. It was nice with Henley too, but again she was singing the low harmony.

I first heard this song when she did it with Henley and I really loved it. I can"t get into VC"s vocals on it. I think this song works better as a male/female duet.
