I cant pick either or...
-I LOVE Stevie solo because she can be herself and so whatever she wants
-I LOVE Stevie with the Mac because their together and theirs so much emotion and stuff going on stage. Their stage presance in general is AWESOME and obviously worth watching. I also love the harmonies between them.

Prefer her work with FM. Her solo stuff is like a 2nd place concession prize.

If anyone came up to me, and asked me to describe Stephanie Lynn Nicks, my reaction would be this...she is a woman of great charisma, and endless talent. She makes everything beautiful, and is indeed, a powerful songwriter and singer. I like singers who hit a nerve in my body and mind, and mostly my heart and she does that. She takes me to places that not only appear to be in the back of my mind, but in a place that doesn't quite exist in a way. It's hard for me to describe why I listen to her words and the music for that matter. I don't admire too many artists out there, then again, I listen to every kind of music out there. There are few that I would say that I am a "huge" fan of, and Stevie and the Mac are it. Stevie does well with Fleetwood Mac as well as she does for herself as a solo artist. She was right when she told Lindsey back in the beginning, "I think we could add something to this band..." and you know what? They did, and she did too. Not only with Stevie's presence in the band cause the band's records to sell more, but she gave it a vibe and a sound that was none like no other, and it consisted of a fairytale image that included flowing dresses and platform boots and shaws. She has this amazing look about her face that gives painters and artists and photographers inspiration to be creative on a canvas or through the eye of a lense, and if she were around back in the 1920's, film makers would've used her in a heart beat because she has that "Garbo/Dietrich/Harlow" look about her. GOLDENAGE LOOK! That was the word I was looking for. My feeling towards this woman are feelings that I have never felt about any artist or legend. She has done well for herself, as a solo act and being in a band. Any band would be lucky to have someone like her in it. It is hard for me to describe such a brave, talented, funny and noble woman like her in one word. There isn't one word that best describes Stevie Nicks. The only one that I can think of is my favorite word of all....timeless.

I prefer her within Fleetwood Mac, as I do Lindsey. But...both she (and he) do great solo work too. It just tends to be a little different than the middle-of-the-road Mac stuff.

I prefer Stevie on tour by herself and also with FM, I can't choose. Wherever she sings, I am happy, I wish she would play the Ryman on her solo tour, in Nashville,
it would be a place that she could film her next Soundstage! I so wish she would! It's a tremendous venue, LB played there a couple of years ago...

Well, I think that Stevie is awesome both solo and with F.M :) She is always the same. But it's very great that she has a solo career 'cause she writes a lot and cannot put them all into Fleetwood Mac. So it's great that she has both a band and a solo career, I think :)
Love,

For me it's just one of those things that varies off of my mood. Sometimes I'm thinking Mac, but the thing that is nice about her solo work, is it is simply Stevie's voice all the time. Sometimes I feel like she can be more herself when she is by herself (go figure,) but it's true. She doesn't really have anyone saying "you can't do that, bla bla bla". Bottom line though is that I love my Stevie any way I can get her. Whether that be solo, or with the Mac.

I prefer her recorded music within Fleetwood Mac because her solo stuff tends to be a bit more pop/middle of the road. But I prefer her live nowadays as a solo artist. She's more comfortable, animated, wears all the crazy outfits, etc when she's solo, and she throws on the Italian Widow Granny Dress in Fleetwood Mac. She's just become far too robotic and conservative within the realms of Fleetwood Mac's concert performances these days too.

I love a bit of both, actually.
She sometimes needs Fleetwood Mac to give her songs an edge she couldn't pull off otherwise. If You Were My Love and Smile At You during the Mirage era are fantastic. I also think now, if it was up to her, she would prefer to have Rhiannon be a lot more melodic and just a piano piece, and I wouldn't liked that. I don't really go for her piano Rhiannon demo's.
Yet, I don't think she could've gotten away with stuff like Edge of Seventeen and Sable On Blonde on any Mac album. They just wouldn't have sounded right. I couldn't ever see Kind of Woman or How Still My Love being how they are now, if the Mac had worked on it.

The players in Mac all those years were more interesting & had more personal style than most of the players on the solo albums, but the solo albums have their musical strengths, too, from time to time. For example, IF ANYONE FALLS -- has a nice chug to it that Fleetwood Mac wouldn't have conceptualized or executed in anything like that way.

What? SOB and KOW and HSML are all songs that sound most macish than any others on theos 2 albums. ESP SOB, as evidenced by Micks drums.

That is a trick question
From 1974 - 82 - I's likely go with FM. I loved BD and Whenever I Call You Friend, but I think her work with the Mac was more interesting, though, there was a comparable paucity of it.
After Mirage, I'd have to say her solo work was better to me, esp. on BTM.
Then The Dance was something out of a dream
As to SYW or the solo stuff after The Dance - it's a toss up for me and I think only some of it is inspiring from a vocal standpoint, though she certainly has her moments, like the harmony on Say Goodbye, the vocal on Goodbye Baby, and Circle Dance and R&R (live) .

That would've been interesting to see what their take on this song would've been. It's one of my favorites, and if it lost the chug that it has now, I think I would be too upset.
1974 - 1982 - with Fleetwood Mac
1982 - 1989 - solo
1989 - 1996 - I haven't heard anything from this era, so idk.
1997 - with the Mac
1997 - present - with the Mac, I guess

I've heard OSOTM (Alice happens to be a song I love), and the two new songs on Timespace, but I haven't heard anything from Street Angel besides Blue Denim. :p I have Behind the Mask, but haven't listened to it, and I've never heard anything from Time (except I Wonder Why - I also like that song). I should've specified!

I like Stevie how she is today, right now. But I'm open to this next Mac project. Touring first before recording and using an additional producer, I believe will help them achieve a more uniform or band sound. If only Christine would do some more music with them, I'd be toally psyched about the next record. Just gotta wait and see.
