POLL TIME!!! What's your favorite performance from Soundstage so far? Is it her sexy cover of Crash Into Me, the sultry rendition of HSML, or maybe that oh so cool top hat Rhiannon?

Why were individual covers included in this poll ( could've had an option for "a cover", when originals such as If Anyone Falls were ignored?

I love that song, and I really enjoyed Circle Dance, as I had never heard it before.

Because it's my poll. If Anyone Falls would fall into the category of other, so it's not IGNORED. Why so negative?

that performance of Rhiannon. Loved the outfit, loved the energy, loved the wind blowing on her during the end. :xoxo:

I have to agree. There were parts of it where I thought it was 1981 all over again. Yes, her voice strugguled with a small portion of it, but the overal performance took my breath away.

Oh I'm sorry Joe, I wasn't meaning to sound negative at all. Sorry. It was just a point I was making. With that aside, I really loved the whole concert, and picking a favorite was nearly impossible. I thought everything was classic.

Apology accepted. I just want this to be a discussion of our favorites from Soundstage, without getting into the structure of the poll. "Other" covers everything from Soundstage. So I invite anyone who has a preference for a song not listed, to click on it and then express your choice/opinion in your post. Thanks.

True that.

As for Rhiannon, it was killer. I LOOOOOOOVED the top hat. There were moments when it looked like 1977 all over again...although I was never around back then.

For me at least, the highlight of the show was Sara. The first few times I watched Soundstage, Sara brought tears to my eyes... something Stevie's singing hasn't done in many years. Her voice was the most pristine I've heard it in decades... simply gorgeous. She finally sang the song without a gun pointed to her head and clearly enjoyed it too. It just seemed like a full circle perfomance to me... like she's finally at peace with the subject matter of the song, and could sing it in the way that it truly deserved.

That said... Gold Dust Woman was phenomenal... and I enjoyed How Still My Love as well. Those are the 3 songs I find myself watching over and over...

and I enjoyed How Still My Love as well. Those are the 3 songs I find myself watching over and over...In musical terms, I think the band is at its best, by far, on HOW STILL. The musicians sound not merely committed but inspired, vamping with a subtlety & freshness that I haven't heard from a Stevie Nicks band in ages.

I selected "other". Circle Dance is my top pick because it was refreshing to have a new (new to me anyway) song in the setlist and i loved the blending of Stevie and Vanessa's voices...their voices together are like silk.

For me it's Rhiannon, with HSML a very close second. Followed by Sara, Gold Dust Woman, Crash Into Me, Landslide, and Edge. There isn't one performance I don't like. I think I've watched Soundstage about 20 times all the way through and go back and replay certain songs again and again and again. What can I say, I'm addicted!

What I love about this Rhiannon, besides the fact that it is the most special song to me when it comes to Stevie, is that she made it more magical and mystical with her appearance and performance. She captured that Dickensian look and feel perfectly. From the introduction to the song when she was playing piano along with that adoreable little girl, casting her sideways glances at me with those intriguing eyes, and all the way through her hypnotic vocal, she had me. It was the real deal. This WAS Rhiannon. The spirit, the magic, the timeless character that never dies and only once in a million years rises. I was looking at HER. She captured me and took me away to a spiritual place. Completely safe and free.

I pondered this one for a long time...

and i decided that Crash Into Me was the closest thing to a "new" song (even though it is obviously a ten year old cover tune).

She totally blows me away evertime I listen to this track...

I have never been a DMB fan, nor a fan of this song.. but...

Stevie gives it a treatment that melts in my ears like cotton candy...

mmm... ear candy.....

Crash Into Me. Nuance with some sexual inuendo works well for Stevie at this point in her career.

Speaking of that part with the fan...I believe it was after Rhiannon that she said she was getting blown away by the fan and would someone please turn it down. (does anyone else that was there remember?) When someone didn't come running out right away Stevie said "well I guess I have to do it myself!" (or something like that) And then she walked up and kicked the fan sideways so it wasn't blowing on her.

I hope they leave that in between song chatter on the DVD.

I liked the soundstage i though red rocks was better than soundstage wish filmed one of the arena's on the tour instead of in the sound stage studio to capture the real feeling of the show with a 10,000 people in the audience experience soundstage with stevie was good but though it didn't capture the magic of her arena shows like fleetwood mac filmed in boston and was in the audience for fleetwood mac sound stage and though the show was awesome too cause it also captured the live audience in the arena . I though to me the best song on stevie's sound stage was Gold Dust Woman. I loved the whole show but that was the song that really captured the magic of the shows for me. I am looking forward to the stevie's soundstage if they ever release it...lol since its still on back order at pbs soundstage and also has been moved torwards the end of october now it seems like they are never going to release this dvd..lol

Peace,

Steve:wavey:

That's exactly what I thought too. I wish she would have stayed in that outfit a little longer.

I voted for Rock and Roll. I grew up listening to Led Zep doing it, and Stevie does it better!

Have to agree with David, and I picked it as my favorite.
Stevie added very sensual strong emotions (at least that was the feeling I got),
strong vocals, and sexy soft voice- Excellent rendition of How Still My Love
Just a great old tune to hear live and as you said...
She, and the band did it justice....

I got my DVD a few days ago, and can now finally comment on this. This is how I'd rank the show from best to worst:

How Still My Love
Edge of 17
Gold Dust Woman
Fall From Grace
Sorcerer
Crash Into Me
Landslide
Rhiannon
I Need To Know
Rock and Roll
Circle Dance (would be way higher if it was just Stevie singing)
Stand Back
If Anyone Falls
Sara
The One
Enchanted

This was a very tough decision, but it was a toss up between How Still My Love, Edge of 17 and Gold Dust Woman. and I voted How Still My Love, but already since voting and writing my response I've wanted to change my vote to Edge and then Gold Dust Woman back to Edge, and every once in a while Fall From Grace rears its head into the disccusion. It was just such an amazing concert with many many highlights. She just looks and sounds so awseome from begining to end. And not enough can be said about how awseome Waddy is. When I'm at these concerts my focus is usually just Stevie, so this DVD really shines a light on Waddy for me like never before. For some songs I feel he plays better then Lindsey  especially Rhiannon, specifically during the chorus.

of all her great performances, the one that I'm not feeling is the overwhelming favorite in this thread. I found Sara to be kind of boring. That song needs to stay a Fleetwood Mac signiture song, her solo band can't play it (they couldn't in 1981- the HBO live show's Sara is even worse) Her vocal was pretty good on the song, but I just wasn't feeling it and it was no where NEAR the #1 song as you can see by the list.

Rhiannon rocked! For some reason I have really been on this song for like the past two months.. Maybe because it is out of this world!!! I did love all the songs in the set though! If Beauty&the Beast was on the dvd I would have picked that hands down, but we all know it wasnt on the dvd....:distress:

This poll is from 2008. If it means the Soundstage Live in Chicago, definitely my without a doubt my favorite is Edge of Seventeen, because of the great Waddy intro.

You resurrected! Gesundheit!

Well, nothing on Soundstage is going to make me forget the Wild Heart Tour. But my four favorites are

How Still My Love
Crash Into Me
Rock & Roll
Rhiannon

Those four *almost* work. The others only work because Stevie is so pretty.
