Silver Springs was written for the Rumours album, but was cut last minute, which was totally stupid. I don't have any demos for this, but I do love the '77 version of this song.

It wasn't done much on the Rumours tour, but it was done in 1976 during the brief stint of shows they did. The song was released (along with Go Your Own Way) in the fall of '76 at that time it was still on the album. When it was no longer on the album, the song was dropped from the set list and more or less forgotten until 1992 and "The Chain" boxed set.

i remember back in the day i had to have every 45 even if the song was on the lp & i bought "go your own way" on 45 & "silver springs" was the "B" side, i freaked when i heard it~ needless to say "go your own way" was nearly never played~ i thought the mac so stupid for dropping it from the album & was very happy when they had the 3 re-releases of the 1st lp's remastered & included it as it should have been in the beginning~

i won a radio contest w/ "silver springs" back during the "trouble..." tour, a show at bonner springs, kansas & won front row tix & backstage passes~ i had to sing some of it & the listeners had to vote on the best & they picked me, i was floored~ but the frickin' show was cancelled, i was devestated:distress:~

hey bluecrystal...i love that...the silver springs mystery lol...but to me it's always been a bone of contention...making silver springs a b side to anything is a def slap in the face to stevie...and according to mick's 2 sticks and a drum he told stevie that the song was not going to be on rumours and that they were using another of her songs instead and if she didn't like it she could leave...xcuse me? where would the mac b without stevie? her songs were the most popular and the most played...chris and lindsey's were okay but they needed stevies song writing abilities to strengthen the mac...just think what rumours would have been like without gold dust woman, dreams and the chain...cocaine was surely evident at that time and i am so thankful she stuck it out with them as long as she did...hugs pat

Hmm, here are the different versions of SS that I know of: The Chain box set version, UR piano demo (I cast a spell on you..), alt ending outtake, studio outtake and instrumental. I know a some of these are on the demo comps named Rumours "The Other Side" and "Staying True" if that helps.

yeah, its definately a weird moment in music history...silver springs not being put on rumours!!lol i think it was replaced by i don't wanna know, which is a fun song but no where near as good as silver springs!! silver springs is one of her epic songs...it was a hidden gems for years and i know it has been officially released, i still think people don't know about it...and now there are hardly any demos or outtakes...THE GREAT SILVER SPRINGS MYSTERY!!
