Ok I was just watching The CV DVD again. I forgot how freaking awseome was. And on the Talk To Me Stevie compared Talk to Me to Ottis reading Sitting on the Dock of the Bay, and I just had to say WTF. I see no similarities between those 2 songs.
Other WTF moment for me, is Stevie commenting on Whole Lotta Trouble that her "lyp syncing" is getting better  Stevie that's a live performance!

Haha! Yeah I remember watching the DVD and thinking the same thing about those comments.

That's hilarious... especially considering "Talk To Me" is a blatantly obvious rewrite (courtesy of Chas Sandford) of John Waite's "Missing You".
Now, consider for a moment... Stevie chose to record this song over "These Dreams" and "We Built This City". For better or worse... why?

Because Talk To Me is a decent pop song and We Built This City may be one of the worse songs of the 80s and These Dreams is boring Heart fluff?

Doesn't mean she had to record any one of the three, does it!
By the way- please do set me straight re: DYMM.

Well, I like Talk To Me.
And honestly Luke, are you really going to bring that up here? Why didn't you just post on the other board?

Her machinery isn't designed to make logical sense or draw sensible conclusions resting on observed phenomena. She's there to effuse battily. Her meaning is her mumbo-jumbo.

Well said. And I believe TTM was #5 on the charts, better than We Built This City but not sure about these dreams.
I do hear a similarity to DOTB, both have a plodding thumping slow beat with an almost spoken lyric.

I do not remember that one. Do you have it around? If so, I'd love to see it, like again as the senility is fast approaching.

Oh you mean where the reviewer said that La Nicks was surely one of the most untalented of rock's superstars and in regard to Talk to Me he said how is it that a song with such an awesome drum track sported such terrible vocals and that her voice disappeared into her sinuses? Is that the one?

THAT'S the one!!!!! i should have know you'd know it! It said how great the opening roll on the drum track was, & wondered why such a person as Stevie Nicks got treated to it on one of her songs.

Ouch
I always wondered why she got such shiitte like that. FM was comprised of some of the better musicians around. La Nicks got world class talent for Wild Heart and Bella Donna - and she jammed on stage with some of the major talents of the time, all of which seemed to adore her. Her voice up until then was something to behold. Yet, the critics seemingly never saw it. I often think it was the spacey image she projected. What do you think?

 Right, you cannot apply logic to Stevie. She's beyond it!

I agree it was the airy fairy image. But I also think that her being so beautiful was a detriment to her credibility with critics somehow. Probably because they knew they could never have her. ;)
