Alright, this is one of Stevie's signature songs. Very upbeat, rocking, great keyboard parts. It's amazing. Feel free to say what you will about the song.

But I also have a question. We all know the line right before the chours "And he asked me for too much." followed by some sort of phrase or something. This has changed slightly over the years or whatnot. My favoring it when she says "And he asked me for too much. And he said, WELLLL TAKE IT ALLL!" anyone know what I'm talking about? What era/tour did she use that line for? I thought it was OSOTM, but I listened to the concert I have of that tour, and it wasn't on there. Anyone know?

Well according to the lyrics.

So I walked on down the line
Away from you
Maybe your attention was more
Than I could do
One man...did not call
Well he asked me for my love
That was all

But I do clearly recall in the live preformance and i do beleave you are right. She does sing "Well Take It All". Thats what i hear anyway.

Currently she says something about taking me...... But when she used to say "WELLL TAKE IT ALLLLLL" she would get really into it. I loved it, but I don't know which era that was from.

Here is my very very very very current favorite (until someone posts a better one) live version of Stand Back.

http://www.mediafire.com/?gzttmmwmfy1

It's from sometime during the Tango In The Night tour, and right before the second chorus, Stevie says "WEEELLL TAKE IT ALLLL.."

Why is this version currently my favorite? Because the quality is excellent, and Stevie was really into this performance... her voice sounds wonderful. She definitely isn't on kolonopin robot mode. This is the first version of the song I ever heard, even before the studio version, and I fell in love with it.. So, the studio version does nothing for me by comparison. Enjoy!

^^^

I can't post it right now -- but I think the Solid Gold live version has different lyrics at that part as well.

Any live versions of this song are appreciated! :wavey:

Stand Back, to me, is one of her more commerical songs..but even with it having the catchy "Stand Back, Stand Back" .. it also has some really juicy lyrics that are classic Stevie style.. "Like a willow, I can bend.." "Maybe your intention was more than you could do.."

I would love to see both of these performances without the overdubs and cheesy Marty Callner closeups of Stevie. I have a hard time watching Red Rocks or Tango in the Night for this reason alone. Even if they just took out the closeups I could stomach watching them. I would much rather watch my VHS copy of Ames, IA '86 than the Red Rocks DVD.

BTW, does anyone have a copy of the Ames, IA '87 show on VHS or DVD? That was my favorite Tango show to watch but I lost my VHS copy during a move. I have quite a few shows on DVD that I would be willing to trade for it.

Yeah, I'm thinking it's the TINT version, but you know, it's funny because I could've sworn there was one where she said "WELLLL TAKE IT ALLLLL" every time. Funny how sometimes my little Stevie brain makes things up.

But thanks for all of the commentary guys. I love it.
