OMG! What a crappy weather night last night!!! They almost cancelled the show. No opening act, too much rain, and Stevie went on over a half an hour late. At one point before the show started they made everyone take shelter because of a sever thunderstorm, like major downpour.
I smuggeled in 2 cameras, but they were the WORST camera nazi's I have ever seen. I didn't get anything good, but I'll post the few I did get. At one point, Stevie had to use a huge umbrella to sing under, it rained steadily for the 1st half of the show.
I was able to get audio of soundcheck (either Sharon or Lori singing Outside the Rain and Rhiannon, and Stevie singing Stand Back, and Outside the Rain) along with audio of the entire show. Which lasted under 2hrs of course. No How Still My Love or Has Anyone Ever Written, she ended it on Rock and Roll.
I have to upload the audio, so I'll post that within the week, along with the DTE show.
Here are my crappy pictures.....

Hey Shel..
Even tho you say your pictures are crappy- I don't think that at all! I think they are wonderful!! I'm SOO sorry to hear how frustrating this was.. as it sure seems like it! I SOO hate when the security gets like this! grrrr.. You did a GREAT job, despite everything...:xoxo:

First of all, the pictures are not crappy. They are [I]amazing. But I do have to say I am sorry that she cut the show short. Has anyone, was one of the highlights at our show, so I am sorry you didn't get to see it.:distress:

The pictures came out great! Sorry the weather was crappy. I can
relate. Last year Jones beach was rainy... I think because of the weather
she had to cut it short. Everyone hair looks wet...Even Stevie's is flat....
I am going this Sat to Jones beach....Just praying the weather is not like
last years.......
Still your pictures came out great!

I can now define the word pissed LOL! My boss and I drove up from Columbus (2.5 hr drive) for the show. By 9:30 we said "screw this"! We were soaked and figured since there was a 10:30 ordinance the sow would be cancelled. So dissapointed. But I have gotten the pleasure of standing front row and doing the edge walk, so I guess it's all good huh? :-)

Oh my god the weather sucked!! And then it was cold. But Stevie did put on a great performance.
I'm glad you got some pictures Melacine! I wanted to bring in my camera but I was afraid that it would get ruined in the rain! And that's awesome that you got audio of the show. That makes my day!
By the way, did you ever convert that cassete of the DTE show from '05?

I love this picture...mostly because I like how dedicated the fans are...standing there with there rain smocks on and watching Stevie with an umbrella.
One question though, was Stevie actually holding the umbrella or was someone else holding it for her?

Yes. Ticket $125.00. Gas to the concert $55. A damp Stevie holding an umbrella? Priceless.

I thought it was adorable how she took the umbrella and shooed away the guy that had brought it out to her. And she kept twirling it around the entire time she was holding it. Stevie was definitely in a great mood ("I wish I had my tap shoes!") and seemed so appreciative of the fans!!
Sadly, I am completely sick and will likely have to make a quick trip to the doc. Damn rain.

First of all, those photos are fantastic. You stood there in the rain and braved the weather and the camera nazis. You get a big THANK YOU from me on that.
And the umbrella pic... PRICELESS
Looking forward to the audio as well. We get hear Stevie say Damn rain/concert. :)
What would be even more priceless if she said "F, the rain", ha ha ha
So, she sung OTR/Dreams and thunder only happens when it's raining huh? talk about life imitating art.

What a night. I took my 13 and 16 year old neices to this show. We were rained on for over 2 and 1/2 hours before the show started ( It was supposed to start at 7:30 but didnt start to around 9:45 I believe). They kept covering and uncovering the equipment and mopping the stage while mostly lame music was being played on the sound system. People were getting pretty ticked; there were a lot of Stevie chants and people started chanting Rain or Shine at the empty stage. There were four women in front of us singing " I used to love her, but I had to kill her" Everyone was very frustrated because there were no announcements made for 2 hours. I know a lot of people gave up and left before it started, but not us we were going down with the ship while Stevie sang :o
Finally Stevie came on and said they would be allowed to come on in about 15 minutes.
The best thing to come from this mess was that Stevie gave an amazing performance. She was on fire, giving a little extra to try and make the crowd forget how misereable they were. During the first song Stand Back the instruments cut out so she kept singing the song accapella. There was a steady stream of water falling in the middle of the stage so they brought out the umbrella and she held it (and twirled it) through OTR and Dreams. She said she should have her tap shoes and she could do whole Gene Kelly thing. She then asked us if the rain had stopped and if she could get rid of the "very heavy" umbrella ella ella.
Crash was excellent with the ad libbed your so dirty thrown in a couple times.
Rhiannon was done very close to the way she used to do it and I really enjoyed the song.
I had a better view of the screen for this show and it was interesting to see all the images this time. The Landslide images just fit so perfectly with the song.
On GDW she was really getting into the baby baby baby parts.
She was very chatty the whole night even going into another accent while introducing the band. At one point she asked us if we were ok and put her arms out and said hug, group hug.
We are still still pretty tired ( but not sick thank god ) from the show. Overall we enjoyed the concert even though it was delayed and we were soaked.

I'm SO glad to see you got a photo of Stevie with the umbrella! :blob1: I was at the show, too -- and security was on me as soon as I started trying to get some "Stand Back" shots! I did manage to take a few photos...I will post them later. We might have been drenched and cold, but she gave us a great performance!!!

The pics are fantastic! Thanks for sharing...sorry your show got cut short, but in the long run, it made it more memorable ... try to look at it that way! She'll always sing "HAEWAFY" sometime down the road...but who knows if she'll perform with an umbrella (ella ella ella) ever again? :D

I can't wait for someone to upload Face the Promise from the other night. That was the BEST part of the show!

I'm with you--after a 2 hour drive following a freakin' detour because South I-75 is closed by Detroit--and then FINALLY getting to I-275 only to be told the freeway is closed???!!!???? Come back in 20 minutes--WTF???? Stopping at a BP and eating at Subway after not eating all day--was looking forward to something a little more appetizing...... hearing everyone at the gas station/Subway saying WTF about the expressway--come to find out the President was in town and they closed down the freeway for him  Come on Stevie is more important!!! ha ha Then FINALLY getting to the venue only to have some guy literally digging through my whole freakin' purse--I was pulling stuff out and saying here look--but he wasn't happy and finally found my camera--bastard!! Little did he know I had a small camera in my hand that I was holding the rain ponchos with--idiot!!..... nonetheless--trip back to the car to put the camera away--decided to leave them both because I never thought I would be able to get one in--they were yelling and screaming that they would take any cameras away inside the venue--and no pics with camera phones either or they would take those too... only to go back and go through another line where the guy didn't even look at my stuff!! UGH!!! So after being totally tired from the drive and then not getting a camera in--it starts pouring rain--like a big wind came up--I was thinking tornado but thank goodness not--but it was a big wind--and then pouring freakin' rain. I was soaked from my knees down because we had the ponchos--others were soaked head to toe--but by then I was seriously ready to go--and was only thinking about the long ride home. We stayed for a little while--it started raining again--someone told us the curfew was 10pm so we figured Stevie would never go on--so we left at around 8:30 to 9pm. The ride home was a little quicker but it rained most of the way........ so long story short--a long flippin' drive to see nothing--but I guess that was our fault for leaving. I will never go to the zoo for a concert again though. They should be a little more prepared for rain--have some like tents or something they can put up just in case--or something...... I don't know... but was pretty disappointed. I do have to say if the weather would have co-operated that the venue was very nice--but I wouldn't chance buying tickets there again. I guess I can be happy I saw her at DTE and got to shake her hand for the 3rd time now...... and I got a couple of pics there too--so I guess that is okay........ :wavey:

I am so sorry you had such a crappy time, that really sucks. Why on earth did two hours go by before anyone announced anything? Nothing more frustrating than being in the rain and staring at a dark and soggy stage waiting for Stevie.
If it said rain or shine, the venue should be prepared for bad weather, no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Since you were one of the first people to anticipate the rain and wonder how it would impact the concert, I was wondering how you fared. Sorry it turned out that way. The money spent, the rain-soaked drive, the crummy food and no Stevie. Ack:distress:.

oh and I forgot to mention I saw the bass player walking around through the crowd--unfortunately when it comes to the band I don't know all of their names or else I would have said something.... actually I think the bass player is the only one I can't recall right now... I think I was the only one that noticed!! He showed some guy at the gate his pass to get into where the seats were before they opened them up to the crowd...... the seats were kind of fenced in by a big brick wall with concrete gates if that makes sense--the venue was actually pretty cool..... I think it was suppose to be like medieval looking....

I have a video of a Street Angel show where she introduces the band in Russian (Chicago, maybe). It's quite amusing.
