Coolest winemaker: Mick Fleetwood. The Fleetwood Mack drummer is bottling his own wine. I asked him which of his songs would go with his smooth and fruity merlot. "Wow, I've never been asked that before," said the tall wizard-like musician. "I'd say 'Oh, Daddy' (from "Rumours"). It's a little dark, and Christine McVie sings it in such a heartfelt way."

I've always thought of Christine as being like a fine wine in that she gets better with age so I suppose this is kind of appropriate.

Off topic, but I'm loling at "wizard-like". I always thought Mick resembled Dumbledore, if Dumbledore were to become a rock star.

He does look a bit like Dumbledore but Mick has always reminded me of Fagin from Oliver Twist.

Lord Child - maybe Mick will try and sell her a few cases of his swill
Actually, I'd like to think CM had better taste in wine, but she was known to drink Blue Nun in the 70's, which in all fairness was very popular

She can always remind him that she doesn't drink anymore - perhaps that might stop him.
I remember Blue Nun. When I was a mere slip of girl I thought it was the height of sophistication

I'm not sure of the exact timing but her manager, Martin Wyatt, mentioned this about the time that FM were touring for SYW and about to come to London so that would have been 2003. I don't know how long she'd not been drinking at that point.
Who knows maybe she's started again.

Let's hope not.
Unfortunately, she started smoking again after quitting.

I believe (although I have no first hand experience) that giving up smoking is one of the hardest things to do.
Some alcohol is no bad thing but at the levels she and the rest of the band indulged themselves it probably wasn't the healthiest of lifetsyles.

I just hope that, whatever she's doing right now, she's healthy.

That's the thing that I wonder about as far as Mick is concerned. He says he still imbibes, just in lesser quantities. There's nothing wrong with indulging, but when you were basically an alcoholic, I don't know if the "it's ok in moderation" philosophy actually works. Clearly, he is functioning well though, so I guess it's not a problem. Michele

That's what I meant. Many people can drink in moderation, but from everything I've read about Christine , I don't think she's probably one of those people. In that 1995 online chat, she mentioned that she used to drink so she could sleep at night, then had a hangover the next day. That sounds to me as if she had a real problem with alcohol.

The same applies to John, by the way. He still drinks as well.

I think you're right that does sound like she had a problem with it. I know she's said she has problems sleeping in strange beds so life on the road must have been tough for her. Mick has said before that she doesn't want to get "sucked back" into the rock lifestyle so maybe the drinking culture was part of that.
Hopefully she's living a healthier lifestyle now.
