Hey all! Went to the DTE show last night--it was pretty good. Usual songs--opened with Stand Back--no Fall From Grace. Loved Crash and Face the Promise--and I am not a Dave Matthews Band fan!!! But she seemed to really love doing these songs :)

As for security--they were a BITCH :( Camera nazi's to the hilt and I had the wonderful luck of having a security guy sitting 3 seats down from me all night--so I didn't get but a couple of pics--and I was dying to take some :distress:

Highlights would have to be some chick jumping on the stage and kind of hugging Stevie and telling her how much she loved her etc. After she jumped back into her front row seat security was all over her. Stevie started in on Landslide saying how special it was because of her father etc. and while she was singing they were trying to get this chick kicked out and she wouldn't budge. They finally got her out but when the song was over Stevie let them have it and told them how uncool they were and was it worth all the ruckus to ruin her special song etc. We all cheered because seriously they did ruin the song since all eyes were on security trying to remove this chick. And while she shouldn't have jumped on stage she did go right back to her seat...... Stevie was pissed though!! She also mentioned earlier in the show that she was hoarse although when she was singing you couldn't tell. She didn't look like she felt well to me though....

The other highlight would be that I got to shake her hand during the Edge walk again and I gave her a heart bracelet that I tried giving her at the last show but she had gone over me. She grabbed my hand and looked me in the eye and thanked me about 3 times--I just smiled like a goof!! But it was cool!! So here are the ONLY pics I got that weren't blurry--bummed about not being able to take pics but the concert was awesome and I would def. go again. This is probably one of the first concerts I've actually watched in a long time instead of trying to take pics the whole night!! ha ha

OMG, Amy awesome picks!!! I adore the ones in white, I love how you can see the whole outfit down to the tan boots. Awesome!!! You're right though, no Fall From Grace. She probably had to shorten the set list cuz Boston wouldn't get off the stage!!! ha ha.

luv,
Shel

Thanks Amy...your photos are absolutely gorgeous! The lighting looks so perfect compared to the shots I got in Chicago. That sucks that security was really tight with the cameras. In Chicago they did not say a word and almost everyone was taking flash photos. Another strange thing about the Chicago show...I've never seen so many people walk past the front of the stage during a show. There was a constant flow of people walking past the front of the stage throughout the night snapping photos with their camera or just waving and yelling to Stevie. I have never seen such loose security at ANY show.

Yeah, they had big white hand written signs at all the entrances, No Cameras: Artist Request. I still snuck in the big zoom one and the little one. I got some decent ones, but man, I had a security guard stalking me all night, so I had to be stealthy! By Edge of 17 though, I didn't have a problem, so I got most of my picks during the last three songs.

I know it must have been distracting especially for Stevie and those closest to the stage. Maybe they could have paused the show and waited to start Landslide until all the ruckus was over. Michele

Agreed TIM, they were loose as far as photos BUT the people near me got thrown out for not moving when asked?? Literally, bald guy and another guy (thought he was Vin Diesel) threw a couple of them out. They did not make a stink though in Chicago during songs. The lack of an Edge walk did bother me since I've sen her for 30 years NOW and this was one of the only times I've never seen an edge walk by Stevie?? She even does it at Tinley Park and thats a very tall stage. It must have been the barrier between the stage and the first row at the Charter One that prevented that?? Last year, at the same gig, she did an Edge walk in Chicago. I am surprises that she didnt come down between the barrier to meet and greet, BUt she didnt.

They are the same way here too. If Axl Rose wouldn've been such a jerk 17 years ago here in St. Louis, we still would be able to take pictures at concerts. He ruined it for all of us. And also record companies and management have alot to do with it too. We pay good money for tickets and all kinds of stuff at the show, and we can't take pictures???? It's insaine!

At Chicago, Stevie didnt seem to mind and there were literally thousands of flashes going off at one time or another. One guy had a really really nice Sony Cam on his shoulder (Professional Series) and they didn't say a word to him and I was shocked since it was nicer than what they were recording Stevie with!!!

One thing is, as you mentioned, Stevie is very very protective of her fans and probably resented the girl being thrown out. Probably had a lil too much to drink. Make her sit, BUT why throw her out and ruin a song.

Security at Charter One (Chicago ) didnt seem to mind the balls (beach balls) being bounced around either. Some were even getting close to teh stage at times. At Tinley Park, I've seen them confiscate them and one security guy even knifed one to deflate it.

just thought i would do a quick review;
First off - Boston was a nice opening act (they have the singer from the band stryper and a guy who was working at home depot before being discovered online-he sounds a lot like brad delp their late lead singer. Sounds strange but it works.
We were 6th row right beside a bunch of speakers, the whole show sounded great with lots of bass.
I like SB as an opener it still has a lot of energy. Stevie did sound a little hoarse but she made up for it with a lot of attitude ( she said she was going to go janis joplin on us or something)
I want to say that I really really liked Crash - the youtube videos do not do it justice. She owned it - very sexy and mesmerizing- it was def a highlight
I enjoyed Face the Promise also, its a rocker - When she introduced it she said they have been trying to get in touch with Bob Seger to tell him about doing the song but they cant find him. So she told us if we run into Bob while we are in Detroit to tell him she is doing his song and it sounds great:laugh:
When she was introducing her band she said the second piano player reminds her a lot of Benmont Tench and Chrissy Mcvie whom she loves -awe
Landslide and HAEWAFY were very touching with the images in the background.
Rhiannon and GDW really rocked - best ive seen in a while
Edge was good and we got to make eye contact and wave at stevie:]
She had a lot of swagger during rock n roll and it was great to see
Awesome show

That's a nice home town nod. I'm glad she didn't cancel the shows due to hoarseness.

You know I've always had a problem there but I know for a fact now that it is up to the artist. Last year's Stevie show they allowed them and I didn't have a problem at all.... also I've seen my other favorite band Tesla there a couple of times now and they don't care about pictures at all--Tom Petty allowed pictures too--so it is totally up to the artist. But when the artist says no pictures then they really really enforce it!!! Yeah I was kind of amazed I got anything also since the security guy was pretty much practically standing next to me all night :distress: I was NOT a happy camper!!
