Man, last night was AMAZING. I had the best seats I've ever had for a Stevie show (row 6) and it was at a venue I was new to. The Verizon Amphitheater is very nice, however they were VERY strict with cameras (their reasoning being Stevie said she didn't want any) and I was told twice to put my camera away.. But you know us ledgies are dedicated and I managed to record parts of every song but only got Edge of Seventeen in full (which is being uploaded to youtube now).

I wanted to meet up with some folks, but forgot ahead of time to post.. Who else was there? I thought Stevie looked and sounded amazing (as always)

Just a question for you-how was attendance at last night's show? It seems odd that she isnt doing any West coast dates other than those in Southern California in February, so I look forward to all the posts and info everyone is sharing.

What a fantastic show! Stevie looked and sounded great even singing the same 'ol ****. So here's my story for the very beginning.
The day of the show I still hadn't found a good ticket and then this girl I work with had one extra that her cousin had given her and would let me have it for $50.
So I grabbed at the opportunity and thought I should just be thankful that I am going. I had wanted to drive myself but she said I could ride with her.
Well thats when it go interesting....
She said she would call me at 6 and we would leave then or around 6:30. 6 rolls around and no phone call, 6:30 rolls around and no phone call. So I call her and long story short I meet up with her about 7 we live 45 mins. away and I'm riding in the back of a supped up Sentra with her cousin and husband driving, me and Ashely in the back with her 300 pound cousin. :(
I didn't know if I would make it there in one piece cause they were driving 90 mph down I-285 and rolling up a big fat doobie.
Then we get the tickets and it way in the back...not how I roll. So I check to see what they have....4th row! So I'm like thanks for the ride bitches but I movin' on up.
Alright, we know how all the other songs sound lets talk about the covers.
I loved Crash and so did Stevie and she looked so cute doing it. Face the Promise was great. She really got into that one and the audience loved it.
Now to the camera Nazis. My snap happy ass almost got kicked out. They were very nice attendants just strict and I thanked them afterwards for not kicking me out.
She did the Edge walk and I got to touch the gloved velvet paw and some good eye contact with Stevie and Lori.
Met some nice people, almost didn't go, thought I was going to die on the way there, almost got kicked out and overall my 13th time was one I will never forget.
But I do know next time I am driving myself.
And I didn't really get any good pictures but I did get all of How Still My Love and some of HAEWATFY and I think Edge. I'll put those up on YouTube.
Even if you have seen her more than 13 times and she sings the same songs over and over it still is always a pleasure to see her and listen to her so get your ass up and go see Stevie!:D
Thank You Stevie for another wonderful experience.

I was there too and right in front of you in row 5! I agree that it was a great venue, but they were super strict on the camera issue. I did manage to get a few pictures during the edge walk (which I'll post if they come out ok).

She did sound and look terrific. When I got back to work this afternoon, my co-workers asked me if it was worth a 12 hour round trip and $100 in gas - my response - You bet! Even if it's still basically the same show I've seen 10 times before, it's still Stevie and it's still amazing to watch her perform (not that I won't keep hoping that one day I'll go to see her and she'll do Rooms on Fire and Gold & Braid - I know - keep dreaming!)

Oh, you are so funny. I can't believe you got 4th row at the last minute. What did you have to pay for the upgrade. So, what about the ride home? Was it cold? Was it tense? Did they think you were snooty because their seats weren't good enough for you?

Alright, I will split my review into two section, the show, and then the saga of my letter (which I'm sure you all remember me talking about)

Our seats were not perfect, but we were on the floor, which was nice, in row AA. But here is the thing. Halfway through Stand Back, my sister stands up in her chair. We were the last row in our section so there was nobody directly behind us. I at first am aprehensive because I don't want to get jacked by security, but I shortly follow suit. I have got to say that that was the best decision that I ever made. Although we were not RIGHT at the stage or anything, by being the only two people in the entire venue standing on the seats, we towered above everybody and had an absolutely unobstructed view of STEVIE. And security never told us to get down. So we stood up the whole night, and I am sure we stuck out like a sore thumb because the two of us towered. If any of you all were in the lawn, or behind the floor and saw two kids standing on chairs and dancing their little hearts out, that would have been us. ha ha.

But the show was fantastic. Stevie looked and sounded amazing. She came out and totally rocked it out. Everything was great, although she was having some trouble with her ear pieces throughout the show as she kept ajusting them. We didn't try to get up for the edge walk because the rows for the first few went all the way accross, so we didn't want to really go for it, because there was really no way we could've gotten up there. But yes, Stevie was fantastic. I am so glad she did OTR because I love that song. Still can't get over how my sister stood and danced on our seats the whole night. There were a few times when it looked like Stevie was looking right at me~
And here is the thing. Let's say we were in fact in the 10th row or so. Yes we would have been closer to Stevie, but we would have had some view obstruction with the people who are naturally in front of us, plus, I am not particularly tall so definately. In addition, there would be no way we could've stood on our chairs as it would wholeheartedly block the people behind us. So, in summation, I think that being the last row in our section, we were able to have a more unobstructed view than a lot of people with closer seats.

Now on to the letter:
As you all know, I wrote Stevie a letter and wanted to give it to either her or her people. I had e-mailed with the venue several times about various questions, but not that particular one. So the day of the show, I call the venue and the lady answers and when I ask, she asks if she had already e-mailed the answer, and I was like "nope" and then she asks me what my name is....

And I'm thinking... "oh my gosh, she knows who I am. Not good I've probably annoyed her." So I hesitate and tell her, but she was so happy to hear from me and she goes "If I were you, I would take the letter to guest sevices when you get to the venue. Now they may not be able to give it to her people because some tours don't accept things, but it's worth a try." she then tells me that she hopes I enjoy the show, since I've been excited about it for so long, and then she tells me to e-mail her back afterwards.....

Alright, so I'm feeling like I passed step one, and that there was a possibility.

When I get to the venue, I'm all nervous when I see guest services because I'm thinking that they will totally turn me down. I finally get the nerve to walk up there, and the guy was an older gentleman who was a double amputee, perhaps a verteran. Kind of an intimidating looking guy.

So I walk up and am like "This may seem kind of weird, but I talked with Deborah at you all's main office, and she told me to try giving this to you guys and perhaps give it to someone in Stevie's crew." the guys tells me that I need to talk to someone more important than him than that and that guest services only deals with the thing INFRONT of the stage and to the lawn, not backstage. He tells me to try the front entrance and giving it to someone there. but then....

He motions me closer and says "You didn't hear this from me, but when they open the gates, walk down to the stage door and there should be someone there who is with her, and try giving it to them." So needless to say I am happy and go back to my family and tell them that I've passed level two.

We get into the venue and I'm looking and am not seeing stage doors. You all know that I am not particularly well knowledged on the whole concert thing, so I'm just thinking.....Well what am I going to do. I see a guy in a blue shirt outside of the seating area a litle by the stage, and I figure I'll try him.

So I coyly leave and walk up to him and ask him the question I asked the older gentleman, but this guy was of less help.....So I was like.... Brilliant, I have reached a roadblock.

SO I return to my family and there were like "try one of the guys in the yellow shirt." so, feeling rather dejected and unlucky, I head to a group of them and they kind of smile at me as I approach.

"How may I help you sir?" one of them asks.
I then tell him the story of how I wrote this letter and how I would love it if they could give it to Stevie and yada yada ya. The whole time I'm thinking they are either going to laugh at me, or turn me down. But to my surprise, I was wrong.

The guy goes, "Now, I can't give it directly to Stevie, but I can definately give it to her people."

Needless to say I was elated and thanked him so much, and as I walk away he tells me to enjoy the show, which I absolutely did.

So, a long story short. My sister and I had a rocking time watching Stevie standing on top of our chairs, ANDDDD, my letter gets taken to Stevie's people. In pretty much all aspects, it was a great night.

That's wonderful Ethan. It's like fate worked itself out. You had seats that might not have looked that good on paper, but turned out to be great in reality. I'd say destiny rules.
Then the issue of the letter that you'd put so much time into seems to have ended beautifully too. Some people have all the luck:laugh:.

I think it's great that you went with your whole family. I just told my mother that I still have the 4 ticket stubs where our family went to Toronto to see Cher at the O'Keefe Center 30 years ago. 1978. I can't believe it. They went to see her for me. No one else cared about going. In fact, my mom said that Sonny and Cher sounded like "a bunch of sore tailed cats." But it turned out to be an adventure that we all shared that I never forgot. In retrospect, the memory of us being together outshines my recollection of the concert.

Of course, you know, your sister has permanent bragging rights now. It was her idea to stand up. Michele

No they were very cool about it. They got 8 FREE tickets anyways so it was no big deal to them and they were all high so I don't think it really mattered.
The ride though....I thought I wasn't going to have one back. I get a text during Edge saying they are leaving cause they want to beat the traffic and I sent a text that said, I'm not leaving. I'll find my way home!
Can you believe that?! I will never go with casual fans ever again!

Ethan, that's cool! For someone your age to be so "into" Stevie and take the time to do what you did, not only shows that Stevie is timeless, but that you have an appreciation for good music and Nicksian style. Good for you! When do we get to hear the second part of your story?

Jeez, I need to come around here more often!

The show was out of this world. As jaded as we get because the set seems to never change, each time it is a pleasure to see her. The upside was all the ENERGY she had! Man, did she rock! Her voice was in great form -- the sound system was clear, no distortion, and her voice was right there up front. I will say that "Crash" was a snoozer of the night, but she redeemed herself with "Face the Promise" and "Rock and Roll" (but she could have done Julia, All the King's Horses and China Doll (grumble, grumble, grumble)). The drum solo and the Edge into didn't seem to last forever, neither did the into to Rhiannon. It was just a great show!

Oh, we were in row Z on the right side, right in the middle of the row. Apologies to anyone we stepped on trying to get to our seats. The big fans on the ceiling kept the temp down, but it was a steamy night.

Yes, I always like to see her too, even when you know exactly what is coming, live always brings a joy and excitement of its own. And I really don't mind that her setlist doesn't change as much as I DO mind that the change has consisted of covers. I would complain less about her doing 2 versions of Dreams in her show than I do about the Rock and Roll, Crash, etc.

Well, I wonder if Taku will be finished with his other engagements in time to tour with FM in 2009. The Edge drum solo is exciting for me. I wish Mick could cobble one together that I could enjoy. Michele
