ZERO GRAVITY TOILET

PASSENGERS ARE ADVISED TO
READ INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USE

1 The Toilet is of the standard zero-gravity type. Depending on requirements, system A and/or system B can be used, details of which are clearly marked in the toilet compartment. When operating system A, depress lever and a plastic dalkron eliminator will be dispensed through the slot immediately underneath. When you have fastened the adhesive lip, attach connection marked by the large "X" outlet hose. Twist the silver coloured ring one inch below the connection point until you feel it lock.

2 The toilet is now ready for use. The Sonovac cleanser is activated by the small switch on the lip. When securing, twist the ring back to its initial-condition, so that the two orange lines meet. Disconnect. Place the dalkron eliminator in the vacuum receptacle to the rear. Activate by pressing the blue button.

3 The controls for system B are located on the opposite wall. The red release switch places the uroliminator into position; it can be adjusted manually up or down by pressing the blue manual release button. The opening is self-adjusting. To secure after use, press the green button which simultaneously activates the evaporator and returns the uroliminator to its storage position.

4 You may leave the lavatory if the green exit light is on over the door. If the red light is illuminated, one of the lavatory facilities is not properly secured. Press the "Stewardess" call button to the right of the door. She will secure all facilities from her control panel outside. When green exit light goes on you may open the door and leave.

5 To use the Sonoshower, first undress and place all your clothes on the clothes rack. Put on the velcro slippers located in the cabinet immediately below. Enter the shower. On the control panel to your upper right upon entering you will see a "Shower seal" button. Press to activate. A green light will then be illuminated immediately below. On the intensity knob select the desired setting. Now depress the Sonovac activation lever. Bathe normally.

6 The Sonovac will automatically go off after three minutes unless you activate the "Manual off" over-ride switch by flipping it up. When you are ready to leave, press the blue "Shower seal" release button. The door will open and you may leave. Please remove velcro slippers and place them in the container.

7 If the red light above this panel is on, the toilet is in use. When the green light is illuminated you may enter. However, you must carefully follow all instructions when using the facilities during coasting (Zero G) flight. Inside there are three facilities: (1) the Sonowasher, (2) the Sonoshower, (3) the toilet. All three are designed to be used under weightless conditions. Please observe the sequence of operations for each individual facility.

8 Two modes for Sonowashing your face and hands are available, the "moist-towel" mode and the "Sonovac" ultrasonic cleaner mode. You may select either mode by moving the appropriate lever to the "Activate" position.
If you choose the "moist-towel" mode, depress the indicated yellow button and withdraw item. When you have finished, discard the towel in the vacuum dispenser, holding the indicated lever in an "active" position until the green light goes on . . .showing that the rollers have passed the towel completely into the dispenser. If you desire an additional towel, press the yellow button and repeat the cycle.

9 If you prefer the "Sonovac" ultrasonic cleaning mode, press the indicated blue button. When the twin panels open, pull forward by rings A and B. For cleaning the hands, use in this position. Set the timer to positions 10, 20, 30 or 40 . . . indicative of the number of seconds required. The knob to the left, just below the blue light, has three settings, low, medium or high. For normal use, the medium setting is suggested.

10 After these settings have been made, you can activate the device by switching to the "ON" position the clearly marked red switch. If, during the washing operation, you wish to change the settings, place the "manual off" over-ride switch in the "OFF" position. You may now make the change and repeat the cycle.

Alameda is only like, 30 minutes away from SF, closer to Oakland. And thats more of a shark type of beach-- San Francisco is far enough north that the water is freezing. Go an hour south, however, and its perfect. :)

OH and everyone should know that across the bay from where I was standing when I took that picture-- THAT is Sausalito. Just on the other side of that hill :)

Hard to believe it's ending. I'm going to have to make sure and watch

ROGER THORPE (Michael Zaslow) was the best. It was very
sad that he died from Lou Gehrigs' Disease in 1998 (I believe).

Erin

09-10-2009, 10:24 AM

^^
I think it was '98 when he died. It's very sad. One of his daughters died not too long after in a car accident, and his wife passed fairly recently. The one remaining daughter is on her own. I actually never really forgave Guiding Light for their abysmal treatment of him when he first became ill. I'm glad One Life to Live hired him and let the story play out until his death. I'll always miss Roger Thorpe.

My mother and grandmother both watched the show, and in fact my grandmother has heard (back in the radio days) and seen the show's entire run. She's 87. I imagine she didn't think she would outlive it. I've watched it off and on over the years. It was like a comfort blanket and I thought it would be around forever.

^^lol...I'm just going to go ahead and tell you in advance that this is going to sound weird...but Guiding Light makes me very, very sentimental...

I am actually really quite sad over GL ending...even though I haven't watched it in years. It was one of the shows that my mother watched when I was a kid and as far back as I can remember I always lovvvvved Reva and Josh...even today, whenever I think of those two, it makes me smile! The story lines sort of got out of control and I quit watching it right after the whole Reva/Josh/Annie storyline ended...but during that time period my mom would rush to the high school to pick me up and then we would rush back to watch it and then we would rush to get me to my after school job. Still, even though I haven't watched it in so long, I can't believe that after all these years its over. I'm definitely going to watch the last few episodes.

Perhaps we should have started the Guiding Light memorial thread. Actually I believe this is the death knell for soaps. As the World Turns contract is up next year and I doubt they will be renewed. Soaps pull in such dismal ratings these days and are too expensive to produce. Guiding Light is the only soap I ever watched however inconsistently in the last few years, and I have no plans to watch any others. It is being replaced with Let's Make a Deal with Wayne Brady. Sigh.

GL has 5 shows left and Reva and Josh are still not together. Are they honestly not going to put the signature couple back together before the end? At least Philip (yay Grant Alexander!) and Beth will be together.

The last show airs today. We'll see what happens. I'm going to avoid spoilers until I get home tonight to watch it. They at least have made an effort to bring back veterans if only briefly. Yesterday Ed, Holly, and Fletcher were on. I couldn't believe it when Fletcher walked through the door. Marj Dusay who plays Alexandra Spaulding has been excellent these last few days. All the final old school pairings of Billy/Vanessa, Philip/Beth, Holly/Ed, Buzz/Lillian, and Alex/Fletcher are at least somewhat satisfying. I don't think I really believe it's gone. :distress:

I was never a big fan of his character but I thought that was a great throwback to the heydey of GL for me (the early 90's when the show was dominated by Roger/Holly/Ed/Blake/Ross/Fletcher/Alex). Just happened to remember today was the last show. Glad I got to see it end.

Was Flectcher the grey haired dude?

It was great to see Mindy again. I always thought she was the most beautiful
girl on the show. She hadn't changed much at all. Actually I was surprised how
little she (Mindy), Josh and Blake had changed in looks over time.

A few questions:

1. Was Blake, Roger Thorpe's daughter? And didn't he also have a son?

2. Were any of the Bowers shown this last week except Rick? Remember
the doctor and the lawyer?

3. What about the Chamberlands? Did Vanessa make an appearance?

4. What about Ross Marler(SP?)?

And for the record Ialways thought Reva was too old for Josh. And that
dress she wore at the end of the show didn't do her any favors.

Yes.

It was great to see Mindy again. I always thought she was the most beautiful

little she (Mindy), Josh and Blake had changed in looks over time.

A few questions:

1. Was Blake, Roger Thorpe's daughter? And didn't he also have a son?

Yes. Yes Hart, he died on the show. Roger's character was killed off off screen a couple of years ago. Pathetic, but at least GL finally realized they needed to honor Michael Zaslow's portrayl despite the fact the actor had already been dead for many years.

2. Were any of the Bowers shown this last week except Rick? Remember
the doctor and the lawyer?

Mike Bauer the lawyer hasn't been on even before I was born in '78. Ed Bauer was the doctor and he was on the last couple of weeks where he reunited with Holly (Roger and Ed often fought over Holly).

3. What about the Chamberlands? Did Vanessa make an appearance?

Yes, she remarried Billy Lewis on Wednesday's episode. Henry, her father, died on the show and the actor in real life some years ago, don't remember exactly when.

4. What about Ross Marler(SP?)?

The actor who played him had a contract dispute with the show a few years ago and he was written off presumed dead in a plane crash. In fact he was still alive which left an opportunity for him to return. The actor has been working on One Life to Live and when he heard about GL cancellation he asked the producers to let him go back and film some scenes for GL to resolve him and Blake. They said no since they are on competing networks. A shame all around.

And for the record Ialways thought Reva was too old for Josh. And that
dress she wore at the end of the show didn't do her any favors.

She's gained a lot of weight in the past few years, although I think she and the actor who plays Josh are around the same age, he's just doesn't seem to age! The last two weeks of the show are available on cbs.com/guidinglight if you want to see some of the Vanessa scenes and so forth.

It was just before dawn
one miserable morning in black 'forty four
When the forward commander
was told to sit tight
when asked that his men be withdrawn.
And the generals gave thanks
as the other ranks held back
the enemy tanks for a while
And the Anzio bridghead
was held for the price of
a few hundred ordinary lives.

And kind old King George
sent mother a note
when he heard that father had gone.
It was, as I recall
in the form of a scroll,
with gold leaf and all.
And I found it one day
in a drawer of old photgraphs, hidden away.
And my eyes still grow dim to remember
His Magesty signed
with his own rubber stamp.

It was dark all around
there was frost on the ground
when the Tigers broke free.
And no one survived
from Royal Company C.
They were all dead,
the rest of them lay dying.
And that's how the High Command
took my daddy from me.
