View Full Version : Cold cereal- crunchy or mushy?

If you poured yourself a bowl of Wheatbix or Corn Flakes (or even muesli, for that matter), would you prefer it to soak in the milk until it gets soft and then eat? Or, do you dive right in and eat while it is crunchy? I happen to like it soft, I think I must be part of a weird minority.
Same applies to packaged store-bought cookies, I would rather dunk them in milk until they are almost disintegrated than bite into a hard cookie.
And how do you prefer it? Crunchy or mushy?

A bit of both for me... Cornflakes - I like that it starts off crunchy but then gets mushy towards the end! Weetabix I like to have with warm milk so that's def mushy.
Oh and biscuits... I'm a dunker!

I'm going to start getting weepy. My grandmother used to make cornflakes for us like that when we stayed at her house when I was little. Always with sliced bananas, and sometimes with cream and not milk.

Crunchy, definitely.
But I just don't ever eat cold cereal. It has a binding effect on my 67-year-old bowel.

I've never heard of muddy buddies, that looks like something my neices and nephews would go nutty for. I may need to whip up a batch.
Question though- does the Chex cereal get mushy/soft? Or, do they have a nice crunch underneath the levels of chocolate and peanut butter.
In this case, I would like my cereal to be crunchy.

Where'd you get this recipe? The Elvis Presley Cookbook? It sounds like enough calories to feed Haiti, but it also sounds insanely tasty. I wonder what this would taste like deep fried? Mmmm...

Ok, the last time I had these was a few years ago!!! It isn't like you're gonna eat them on a daily basis!!! You can google 'muddy buddies' and get it or sometimes it's on the back of the Rice Chex box.

Sadly, I don't eat cereal much anymore but I'm perplexed by all you mushy people. It *must* be crunchy. The moment it becomes soggy, I'm done.

I'm into Vector for breakfast, or a snack... It's crunchy alright... To the point that it sometimes feels like gravel! But it's good!

Warm... therefore mushy...and most likely not a kids cereal (I can't remember when, I last had any of that...probably when the kids were teeny)
Pip...dosn't eating cereal late at night, keep you awake?

I guess for me it depends on the cereal. I like Grape Nuts to be soggy. Probably because if you eat them before they are they break your teeth.

i will not eat cereal after it gets past a certain mushy level.
that being said i have a new favourite cereal!:
mini wheats...maple and brown sugar mini wheats. :D
they taste like the oatmeal....which i hate the texture of.
so yay!
I like fruity and cocoa pebbles too.
when in the mood for them I like cherios, special k, and total. life is good with sugar on top.
but i usuallystick to mini wheats.
