I think every artist in the free world has been on Oprah, but when is Stevie gonna get her turn? It would give her tremendous exposure and it would certainly help album sales, especially if she releases the Soundstage CD/DVD. Hopefully her time will come soon...any thoughts on this?

I don't think she will be on. I think she's past the point in her career where she'd make that show. But I think she's always welcome on Ellen.

Haha, I agree...
Today I was watching Oprah, and Mariah Carey was on because her new hit "Touch My Body" just surpassed Elvis' record of 18 #1 hits or something...
and I was wondering... why doesn't Oprah have on a female vocalist with some real talent, like Stevie Nicks!
:)

I wonder if Stevie hates Oprah as much as I and, that's why she's not on her show.
I won't even go there about Oprah. Too much, too deep.

I think La Nicks could command any show presence she wanted. Oprah, however, is not really geared to La Nicks style. She likes to do two songs and maybe 10 miuntes of chat to promote a record. I do think she could have gone on Oprah with the Ipod for the soldiers thing. I think it is more likey she would do The View.

I wouldn't count on Stevie ever being on Oprah. I don't get the impression that Oprah has any clue who Stevie even is. Billy Joel was on a couple weeks back and it came off as if Oprah had JUST been told who Billy Joel is. She seemed clueless as to anything about him. I think it would be the same with Stevie.

Nobody's saying it. But I will. I tend to think O would have more interest in Mariah Carey due to Mimi's mixed race background. I don't know if I have ever picked up a vibe through the years that O has any major interest in rock music. But certainly, Rosie and Ellen, Letterman, etc have alot to say about Stevie.
But, I think here might be one way for Stevie to get a platform toe-hold onto an Oprah appearance. O does a show about benzodiazopene addiction, and has Dr. Oz and Dr. Phil on and Stevie is a brief guest to talk about the painful rehab and her blackout at that baby shower. That could work. But I don't think O would ever have her just for the sake of having her on to sing 'Stand Back'.

I tend to disagree... I think Oprah and Stevie have a lot in common:
-They are roughly in the same age bracket.
-They both struggle with their weight.
-They both love and indulge in the finer things in life.
-They both love lap dogs.
-They are both ardent supporters of charities.
-Oprah loves divas.
-Stevie has an interesting life story to tell.
And although Oprah loves her sistahs, she has had other non-black musical guests like Carly Simon, for example (although, I guess Carly is technically octaroon since her grandmother was half-black). True, Oprah is not a big fan of rock music, but she surely must know/love "Stand Back."
I think it would be far more interesting to see her do the Charlie Rose show on PBS, which would make sense since Soundstage would be aired on the same network.

Ok, I'll give a few more cents to this.
Oprah is a bigmouthed, loudmouthed know it all...She IS a powerful woman and has a major following of folks. She is, to me, a self-riteious, self indulgent controlling classless woman. She really needs to come off her high horse and down from her pedastal for 2 seconds...to take a hard look at the realities right here in her own country. I wonder if she knows of the poverty, suffering, helpless people here in the US that don't have the voice or the power that she has. People that could really benefit from her fame and wealth and power. With her fame, money and power she sadly is a woman that is heard loud and clear. What if she's wrong? But, no. Oprah said it's really like this...and so her followers blindly take her lead.
Have you noticed how she carries the press with her to let the world know how much time and money she donates to charity? If it was from her heart all of this could be done in silence just because she's not a hero...she just has the means and the way and she truly wants to help. Mothers of the world do this for their children and their familes every single day. My mom nor my grandmother ever made the news for saving my life...or investing in my future.
She's the master of every subject. She has had every experience. It troubles me the way people hang on every word she says...read every book in the Oprah's book club...take all her bottomless advice. Oprah is not a person but a major corporation...and look how major corporations screw your average everyday Joe's and Jane's. It troubles me that she was a major supporter of Hillary. She's had her on the show several times...singing her praises of being such a woman of power like herself. All of a sudden a shady, scary character comes out of the blue. A politican. Nobody know's much about him. A few of the investigative stories about this guy in the very beginning were suddenly squelched, squashed and completly dissapeared. Do you guys here in the US really know who this guy is? Do you know his history...his past...anything? I know that the airline I work for is based in Illinois. The union was begging him for his support. He chose the "corporation" instead of thousands of employess that made the airline what it was pre Sept 11th.
People wear many disguises and can have many faces and sing many tunes. Some are charmers...anyone ever heard of the old saying, "the devil in disguise?"
Oprah, like I said, is a massive, massive money making corporation. Which political party supports corporations?
Which party supports people like me and my family...just getting by...trying to save a few bucks to see the Grand Canyon...or to take their kids to Disney? People who save so hard to take a 3 day Carnival Cruise to Bermuda...to live the "high life" for just once. People like my family that just lost an amazing grandmother that worked so hard...all her life...singlehandedly raising 4 kids in the depression alone...living on $300 and change a month for her lifetime of input into Social Security. Do you know how much a burial and a small service costs?
I am so sorry. This got way too deep and political. I'm afraid of corporations like Oprah...and what they have the power to do and buy.
I fear an unknown politican. I fear George's party.
I'm an average everyday guy...and even I know behind every great man is an even greater woman...holding him up.
I think the country needs a known woman to take charge...and clean up this disaster that's been caused.
And THAT'S why I think Stevie has probably turned Oprah down. Or why Oprah wouldn't have Stevie on her show...Stevie never came out and screamed about her charity work...or called the press to say she just made a donation to help out a starving musican. On stage...Stevie is an act. Sometimes her interviews are an act. Sometimes not. I think Stevie and Oprah have each others number... We all know which politcal party Stevie supports. She doesn't broadcast it though does she?
After all she's not a talk show host.:distress:

. . . I wonder if she knows of the poverty, suffering, helpless people here in the US that don't have the voice or the power that she has . . . .
She was born in rural Mississippi to a poor unwed teenaged mother, and later raised in a Milwaukee ghetto. She then was raped at the age of nine, and at fourteen, gave birth to a son who died in infancy. She was then sent to to live with the man she calls her father, a barber in Tennessee. So, clearly she has the perspective you wondered about.
. . . Have you noticed how she carries the press with her to let the world know how much time and money she donates to charity? If it was from her heart all of this could be done in silence just because she's not a hero...she just has the means and the way and she truly wants to help . . . .
I disagree. Having been involved with the running of a few large charities in my day, a big, public donation from someone with the watts she shines will increase donations by several fold. So, her publicity also is a donation and a welcome one.
Does she aggravate me? I really have no opinion of her in that regard - though ghetto Oprah kind of gets on my nerves  I am not into her show and do not really follow her life as a celebrity. I do think, however, she is a remarkable ansd generous human being who is a true success story and I would think this despite my personal opinion of her.

Um - yes she did when she openly solicited donations to her ipods for the soldiers charity
I guess I just do not see the big problem with celebrity endorsement of charities, esp. when they do so much good in raising awareness and much needed money.

wow you come off pretty partisan right away.
You sound angry that she started a school in another country and has totally ignored this country. Is that what you are referring to?
What if she is wrong about what? Did she make some big prophecy or something?
As strand said, she has the background to have the perspective you say she needs. I guess i just don't see any backup info to your claims of her being self-righteous, self-indulgent and classless.
Have you noticed how she carries the press with her to let the world know how much time and money she donates to charity? If it was from her heart all of this could be done in silence just because she's not a hero...she just has the means and the way and she truly wants to help. I am not a "fan" of hers but I don't see all these claims you make against her. I would say that she comes off as a considerate woman who tries to be prepared for a topic by checking out both sides. Sure she has opinions but you make her sound like a demon.
Oprah is not a person but a major corporation...and look how major corporations screw your average everyday Joe's and Jane's. It troubles me that she was a major supporter of Hillary. My comments were not meant as snarky and I did not "shoot back a line of attack at a guy, sharing what he thinks...just to cause a few snickers." I am sorry if it came across that way. There was, however, nothing that humorous in my post. Your comments did not suggest to me that you knew that Oprah came from very humble beginnings or that the celebrity endorsement of a charity many times is more or as beneficial as a quiet donation. So, I thought you might want to know that as it could change your opinion of her to some degree.
For the record, I enjoyed your post and your take on things. And, I wish more people were as apparently active politically as you seem to be.

I looked for this earlier, but could not find it. This, to me, is a stunning example of a celebrity lending their voice and heart to a worthy cause. It is not a charity, but the meaning is the same.

Here is a charity one - even if her plea and presence got one of those poor animals adopted - how an that be a bad thing? If she had been silent and avoided that, what good could have come of it:

True. I don't really watch Oprah, but she has a variety of folks come on her show. Esp when they're promoting new material. I just rarely see rockers or rappers come on. In fact, a couple of rappers were saying they couldn't stand Oprah because she rarely invites rappers to her show.

Oprah's goof-ru Dr. Aucksbland reveals the many many many pain bodies in Stevie Nicks' pet terriers which they have accumulated from being on the road so long watching hours of tv and eating doggie treats. And yes, Stevie will sing two songs at the end of the show...::thumbsup:

:laugh:I know this is an old topic, but it was one that I missed. Oprah knows who Stevie is but I doubt that she will ever have her on her show. Oprah prefers to have people on her show that she knows will give her ratings, and no offense to Stevie in anyway, but she wouldn't really give the ratings that Oprah needs. Her life yes, was infact pretty controversial with everything that she went through in her life, but for some stupid reason maybe it's just not as close to being as wild as Valerie Bertinelli's. (Can't spell her name) Oprah cares about 2 things 1.) Ratings and 2.) Gail! LOL! Sorry I get annoyed with the way she talks about GAIL! I would love to see Oprah lay into some questions with Stevie that are so damn personal, that even I have never heard Stevie answer or been asked. Rumours that need to be cleared up... I think that it would be a very good interview. I tried writing into the Oprah show before about wanting to be on her show to share a story with everyone, but never heard back from them. I want to say some kind of comment on that , but I am not going to because I don't want anyone thinking that I am something that I am not. So I won't say it. All I will say is that everyone can keep trying to get stevie on oprah, but she won't respond, unless......Stevie's written a book.

:)
Well since I have read everyones comments on an old topic that I brought up I think I will say what I wanted to say in the beginning.....I have noticed a lot that Oprah will have people on her show if they are connected to someone who is....black, or if they are black. Where I used to work this girl told me that she was on a plane going ....somewhere, and Oprah happened to be on the same plane as her and Oprah told the stewardess that she didn't want to sit next to a white person. This girl that I knew was stunned that she would even say such a thing, so Oprah's not that perfect of a person either. She will always go on and on about the people who need help and the people who are starving in Africa, and if you notice the people she always focuses on are black. I am not racist in any way at all believe me, but in a lot of ways I think that Oprah is. And the crap with Mariah Carey, I USED to like her when she came out with her first 4 albums then all of a sudden in 1995 when she was over in Europe and made that stupid comment about Madonna, I said what a bitch. Mariah Carey has turned into one of those ,"my **** doesn't stink" kind of girls. And I hate that. They say that she has sold this amount of records recently, gee I can't say I know anyone who has one??? The reason she had her on her show, was because she got married and because of her race. I hate stating the truth, because I don't want to piss anyone off with the truth, but I believe that we all should be "created equal" according to the constitution, but does Oprah treat anyone "equal"?
That's why Stevie isn't on her show. Stevie has got style, class and she is very sophisticated, and you know what, Stevie doesn't deserve to be on that show. Stevie is better than that.
AND ONCE AGAIN, I APOLOGIZE ABOUT THE COMMENTS, I GET FRUSTRATED AT OPRAH, AND I RANT. SORRY.
