According to Pollstar.com, the members of VELVET REVOLVER - Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum and Dave Kushner - announced today that they are parting ways with singer Scott Weiland.

The move hardly comes as a surprise, given the very public feud that's been ongoing between Weiland and Sorum and published reports that Weiland's old band, Stone Temple Pilots, is making an announcement regarding a major tour April 7 at the Harry Houdini Estate in Los Angeles.

Slash blamed the split on Weiland, saying "This band is all about its fans and its music and Scott Weiland isn't 100% committed to either. Among other things, his increasingly erratic on stage behavior and personal problems have forced us to move on." :blob1: :blob2: :xoxo:

Sounds like Scott has fallen back into heavy heroin rotation.

Ah yes! And they can rename the band "Velvet Roses." Although that does sound a bit like a Stevie Nicks tribute band.

That's a shame. (In that Jerry Seinfeld way of not really caring)

I love both VR and STP. Scott's certainly got an ego on him...but don't all the best rock stars?

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but if Scott's back on the smack (or whatever substance), I wonder how long the STP tour will last?

Scott Weiland Hits Back At Velvet Revolver

Scott Weiland has launched a scathing attack on his former Velvet Revolver bandmates - accusing them of "covering up the truth" about his sudden departure from the group. The band released a statement on Tuesday night after a show in Amsterdam, Holland, announcing the singer had been axed, citing Weiland's "increasingly erratic onstage behavior and personal problems" as the reasons for his dismissal.

The group had been rocked by a series of public feuds over Weiland's recent stint in rehab which led to a string of missed shows. Weiland went on to announce the end of Velvet Revolver during a Scottish gig last month.

But Weiland - who is now focused on the reunion of his previous band Stone Temple Pilots - is convinced his former colleagues are disguising the real reasons for his departure.

He says in a statement to MTV.com, "After reading the comment by Duff, Matt, Dave and the illustrious Guitar Hero, Saul Hudson, a.k.a. Slash, I find it humorous that the so-called four 'founding members' of Velvet Revolver would decide to move on without me after I had already claimed the group dead in the water on 20 March in Glasgow. In response to Slash's comment regarding my commitment (to the band), I have to say it is a blatant and tired excuse to cover up the truth. The truth of the matter is that the band had not gotten along on multiple levels for some time. I choose to look forward to the future and performing with a group of friends I have known my entire life, people who have always had my back. This also speaks of my commitment to my music and my fellow bandmates in (Stone Temple Pilots) and to the fans who I feel would much rather watch a group of musicians who enjoy being together as opposed to a handful of discontents who at one time used to call themselves a gang."

Weiland goes on to warns fans not to be "fooled by veiled trickery" and offering up a suggestion for his replacement, saying, "I think Sebastian Bach would be a fantastic choice."

there are rumors of drug and alcohol abuse within velvet revolver. with scott weiland being obviously vulnerable fresh out of rehab and trying to get his life back together, it is alleged he asked them to respect him by not partaking in usage...part of where the trouble supposedly started.

Good! Because I was fearing that Scott was ruining his voice with that band. STP is where he needs to be!

Bach would be a good choice but he is friends with Axl so I wonder if he'd do it. That guy can sing anything.

They should hook up with Mark Lanegan for ONE album and tour and lose some of the attitude and write some killing songs again.

Singer Scott Weiland, who left the band Velvet Revolver this week, due to continuous bickering with the other members of the band, reunited with his former band, the Stone Temple Pilots, who are planning a 65-date North American summer tour.

The tour, which will be the first for the band in nearly eight years is supposed to start on May 17, with the band performing at the Rock on the Range festival in Columbus, OH, and will finish in November 2008.

Stone Temple Pilots also plan to revive their website and launch a fan club program that will grant members easy access to tickets for the band’s tour.

Around two weeks ago, Scott Weiland made the announcement of his imminent departure during a Velvet Revolver concert in Glasgow, Scotland, when he told the crowd they were witnessing something special, namely the last-ever Velvet Revolver tour, MTV reports on its website.

The rest of the band, guitarists Slash and Dave Kushner, bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Matt Sorum, released a statement confirming the split, explaining that they could no more tolerate Weiland’s “increasingly erratic on-stage behavior and personal problems.”

“This band is all about its fans and its music, and Scott Weiland isn’t 100% committed to either,” Slash said in the statement.

Weiland has denied Slash’s accusations, calling them just an excuse to cover up the truth.

The Velvet Revolver members told RollingStone.com that they were relieved Weiland has finally left the band.

"Basically, we're just excited about finding someone else and moving on," Slash said.

He also mentioned that the band has found a new musician to work with, but he didn’t want to reveal his name yet.
