View Full Version : Thoughts on last night's South Park . . .

I was shocked at this clip from last night's show - it goes way more over the line than is the usual method of operation for Parker and Stone. I am no real South Park or Britney Spears fan, but to me this was too much:

Your thoughts???

Just my 2p's worth - it's pro-Britney in a roundabout kinda way, and funny  The point of it is a criticism of the press / media (e.g. the Invasion of the Body Snatchers ref) and music industry, which is pretty accurate imo - there's no real characterisation of Britney herself, and what characterisation there is is fairly sensitive tbh. It's not really about her. If she's seen it, she might not love the way it was done, but I think she'd see the reasoning and agree with it.

^ Agreed.

The MTV "performance" was genius. Not to mention the sly reference to that "Leave Britney Alone!" queen from youtube.

If anything, the previous episode (Cartman gets HIV) should have ruffled more feathers than this.

loved the episode, one of their best i thought~ tho the thought of a headless britney was disturbing, it gave a good message about her & the media~

I understand the sympathy for Britney (wanting to see her kids) and the silent parts (in the bedroom and in the hospital) were very effective and drove the point home.

The "blown-off-head" character I didn't find amusing...I am in my 50's but my kids (in their 20's) found it funny.

They said they know it isn't real and that it's meant for humor.

(Old me, found it disturbing, though.)

I totally get that it was a criticism of the media . . . but I was just shocked that they used a shotgun blast to the head and then a headless Britney to prove their point. I think my shock was due to the fact that she does have bipolar illness (which is an illness where 20% of all people commit suicide), and to me, that really isn't too funny. There are plenty of other ways to prove their point, without resorting to this specific characterization.

I can agree with you on this point. However, I also think that this episode did an excellent job of showing how absolutely insane and ridiculous the media is when it comes to her. And really, I guess you could say that this kind of thing (Britney trying to blow her head off) really *could* happen.

I loved the part when the recording guy said she was "fat", as she's standing there with no head.

A bit too harsh, but still hilarious. The gurgling/talking of the 1/2 head was funny - and when she put the headphones up to where her ear should have been.

I thought the episode had actual meaning to it. the paparazi will end up killing britney [im sure this was made before she checked into UCLA], but i thought it was good that they did this. the papoz just pick on poor celebs and they end up going crazy cause of it.

i didnt find it funny at all actually.
truthfully, the half head thing just bugged the crap out of me cause i couldnt tell what it was saying. the camel toe thing was just dumb, but true that everyone just looks at the poor girls vajayjay.

idk, i was hoping for better. acutally i did find one part funny-
butters as the huge squerril [not spelt right], that claimed it was a human and went for phychiatric evaluation.

but the britney part i found sad and true. :distressed:

I love how Matt and Trey just cross the line every season and always get away with it. Loved it!

i liked in 'The List' when he was like 'mom, dad! i wasnt voted the ugliest boy in the class, kyle broflowski was!'
and then his father was like 'guess we dont have to ground him'

and the next day he comes in with 11 on his shirt....

priceless. :D
