Is it just me or is the ledge really slow? Especially when trying to post

So slow today that I thought I was going to flip out. Seriously, then I asked myself why am I getting even the slightest bit upset over this? I was supposed to be working anyway! (taking a breather from a project..)
I'm WAY too tense and reactive about system response time. I of all people should understand how servers are, since I work in a busy IT department.

Life's too short. See, now The Ledge is working fine. Just need some patience as it goes through it's rough patches here and there....

I wanted to start a topic and I thought nothing happened and I kept trying and was going ...sooo.....sloooowwwww....and then I refreshed the page and when it was finally done WHAM! three threads in a row:eek::mad:

Something is definately not right.

Yes guys, the migration that I expected to take place Thursday is actually in process today and that's why everything is so wacky. I thought they were going to close down the site altogether and just post a message saying that it was being worked on, but that didn't happen.

Anyway, hopefully everything will be back to normal tomorrow, but expect delays to continue for today.

I've been trying to use The Ledge myself, so I know what a nightmare it is.

All I can say is that not all the website databases could be transferred through (FHP) I believe, because that was not working. So, they are being transferred manually and the whole transfer process is taking much longer than expected and continuing to bring the website to a standstill. I expect for it to be over soon, but then again I expected it to be over last week. So, at this stage giving further estimates would be futile because they don't look like they're going to be met.

Also, at some point in the near future (meaning I was told it would happen TODAY, but I'm not sure), the site will still have to close down completely while it's being pointed at the new host. Then, once we're entirely on the new host's server, life should be joyous. Posts will fly at the speed of light -- or some reasonable facsimile thereof.

I haven't gotten an "all clear" yet, so expect another slow down Wednesday. I'll let you know when the move is finally complete. I think the only reason things get faster in the evenings is because websitemovers is in Michigan and they go home at 5:00 p.m. EST. The load average goes down on the server when they aren't transferring files.

All right. The migration is complete and IT specialist that I am (not), I went over and tested the site on the new mirror host and everything seemed to function ok (or as ok as usual) to me, so now all that is left is to point the site at the new host and to replace the copied website with the current one. They have to synch up the Ledge files, so we won't lose any of the posts made since the transfer was completed.

So, eventually we'll be down for a bit and then we should be up and running again.
