HOUSTON -- A Houston judge sided with a woman who wanted to annul her marriage and divorce after finding out her ex-husband was actually a woman.

Jennifer Jack's spokesman London O'Dowd also told the judge Wednesday Jack wants to revoke ex-husband Andrew Mireles' right to see the two kids they raised together during their 7-year marriage. Jack, who claims Mireles never told her he actually was born as Phyllis Ann Mireles, has said she doesn't want her children being raised in a lie.

"He's a convicted felon and has some indiscretions that would put him back in jail if his probation was revoked," O'Dowd said. "That's not the kind of person we want around these children."

Jack said she and Mireles met when she was only 16 and was too naive to question Mireles' strange behavior in the bedroom. And one of children was fathered by another man before the marriage and the other conceived by artificial insemination, she said.

But it was after their divorce when she was skimming through a yearbook that she noticed a photo of Mireles as a female. Mireles, who still is physically a woman, has said he thought Jack figured it out years ago and didn't care.

Mireles had a process server at the Family Law Center hoping to require Jack to allow visitation rights under a divorce decree that may no longer legally exist. Meanwhile, an attorney will be appointed to represent the two children as the custody fight continues.

"They're in counseling, and we're doing everything we can to get their lives back on track and get their lives back to normal," O'Dowd said.

This is ridiculous. How could it take seven years, even one month, to figure this out.

I guess this is taking abstinence to its greatest extreme! Or perhaps, Mireles had an unusually large "pencil eraser" that could pass as a very small "dipstick." In any case, wouldn't the large cache of male hormones in the medicine cabinet be a telltale sign that there is trouble in Shangri-la?

This brings up intereting legal questions. A "marriage" between same sexes is void in most states. In other words, it is as if it never happened - no legal effects can result from it. Thus, why is a divorce necessary.

Maybe when you have a sex cahnge operation, you are deemed to be the other sex.

I wish I had time to research this.

She never had the operation. She is still biologically female. How her wife did not notice she has a female body for 7 years is unfathomable.

Then that marriage likely is void - so why the dicorce proceedings? Texas law must be different.

7 year  - maybe she had/has a great tongue.

Why get married if you're not having sex? Or is that why people get married? :o I'm confused.

The woman said she noted her husband acted strangely in the bedroom but just accepted it. I have no idea what that means!

I bet the wife acted strange as well. This whole thing is too bizarre beyond belief. I wonder if it's a hoax.

Yes how else not to notice something was missing!???

I have heard of this happening before actually but I don't think the wife knew until her husband died.

Sudan man marries a goat

This is an important security announcement for all of you, who plan on a) visiting Sudan b) engaging in sexual relations with farm animals, or c) both. Stay away from goats in Sudan!

Let this story serve as a lesson to you. A man from Sudan has been forced to take a goat as his wife after he was caught having sex with the animal, BBC reports. The goat's owner, Mr Alifi, said he surprised the man with his goat and took him to a council of elders and they ordered the man, Mr Tombe, to pay a dowry of 15,000 Sudanese dinars ($50) to Mr Alifi.

The intercourse happened the night before Valentine's day (awww) and as far as anyone knows, they are still together. The newlyweds are registered at Pottery Barn (they should be, at least.)

Admittedly, this is a very poorly-written article... but I believe she was divorced already, but pursued the annulment after she discovered he was a she, and Jennifer didn't want the ex to have child visitation.

I guess sex education was not in the Texas school curriculum back in the day...

That poor goat. People who mess with animals disgust me to the core. Do what you want with other consenting adults... kink it up kids, that's fine... but leave the animals alone. Come to my (non-existant) farm and get caught doing that. Shotgun blast.

Sounds like lesbian drama to me. She had to effing know, come on. And if she's that dumb, she doesn't need custody of her own kids.

My guess is that this annulment was pursued on the basis of fraud, and it is likely that a custody arrangement can be handled separately from the divorce. The messy part would be any financial implications that resulted from the granting of the divorce (say a payout of cash to one spouse who has already spent the money).

Messy, messy.
