Patrick Swayze has five weeks to live, The NATIONAL ENQUIRER has learned.

In a shocking world exclusive, The NATIONAL ENQUIRER has uncovered the devastating news that the beloved Hollywood actor and dancer was diagnosed in late January with pancreatic cancer that has spread to other organs.

Full details are in the print edition of the NATIONAL ENQUIRER that goes on sale tomorrow.

For the past month, Patrick, 55, has been traveling to Stanford University's prestigious cancer center in Palo Alto for radical chemotherapy, but his doctors are no longer optimistic that the treatments will be successful.

Patrick and his wife Lisa Niemi — who both have pilot's licenses — have been flying their private Beechcraft plane into Palo Alto's airport, minutes away from the Stanford Cancer Center, where the actor has received outpatient treatment.

He received three doses of chemotherapy and the tumor shrank, but less than his doctors had hoped for — and Patrick was told he should prepare for the end.

"He was told he could have two more treatments, but his cancer was not responding. In short - they held out little hope for a cure," said an insider.

The man who danced into the hearts of audiences worldwide in the 1980s in Dirty Dancing and then broke them in the poignant love story Ghost in the early '90s has lost more than 20 pounds in the past few weeks and is restricted to a liquid diet because he has trouble keeping down solid food, added the insider.

"It's time to start praying for a miracle."

Who didn't love 'Dirty Dancing'? It was such a light, nice movie with good music. Poor Patrick Swayze. One of the nurses I work with once told me, "If your doctor ever says 'pancreatic cancer' to you, you might as well just start settling your affairs."

It's such an insidious cancer, and it's all very sad for this actor who made so many people happy, and for his family. If it's true.

I really like him and that is so horrible. Remember that old Barbara Walters special where he was a guest and there was a clip of him performing a ballet piece with his wife in their home dance studio...that was lovely. This is so sad.

Not that I don't appreciate him for his real acting roles, but when I think Swayze, I recall that SNL skit w/ him & Chris Farley vying for the Chip N' Dales spot. LMFAO! It is SO funny. If we lost Swayze, then watching that skit wouldn't be so funny anymore, as we'd have lost 2 great actors of our time. I hope this isn't true, but if it is, my thoughts are w/ he & his fam!

Hey Anita..

"Actor Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and is currently undergoing treatment. Patrick's physician Dr. George Fisher states, 'Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far. All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic.' Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects. The outpouring of support and concern he has already received from the public is deeply appreciated by Patrick and his family."

I am just devastated. I saw this online last night. I just love Patrick Swayze, & Dirty Dancing is probably my favorite movie of all time. I always take out the DVD & watch it on my birthday. My mother-in-law died from this. Her doctor said that she probably had it for about seven years & didn't even know it. She started turning jaundice (yellow) & that's one of the symptoms. Also she had stomach problems & pain in her abdomen, also symptoms which she had for a while apparently & didn't tell anyone. It's a shame that there is no test for this until it's too late. But I did see on GMA this morning that some famous person had this & is still living; I think someone from Apple, so maybe they did catch it in time & I don't think its spread to other organs. I hope that he can beat it.:distress:

Patrick Has Cancer

Patrick Swayze's rep has confirmed to Sky Showbiz that the actor is suffering from pancreatic cancer.

But they call the reports he's only got five weeks left to live as "untrue".

The statement released to Sky Showbiz contained a quote from Patrick's physician Dr George Fisher, saying: "Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far.

"All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic."

His rep concluded: "Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects.

"The outpouring of support and concern he has already received from the public is deeply appreciated by Patrick and his family."

Last month Patrick had undergone a gastrointestinal procedure at Stanford University Medical Center and was "home and happy" following the procedure.

The 55 year old has just finished filming the movie Powder Blue starring alongside Jessica Biel and Lisa Kudrow and had wrapped on TV movie The Beast in which he plays an FBI Agent.

Our LA reporter who spoke to Patrick's rep said: "There is a general shock out here in LA about Patrick's illness. Although there were reports last month about him having surgery, all was thought to be well.

"Patrick is a much-loved actor in Hollywood and everyone is hoping he makes a full recovery."

bold is my emphasis.
