Over in Lindsey's board Brandon[MyLittleDemon] posted a mix of the Tusk Album version of Tusk and the Chain version of Tusk. And I was completely dumbfounded that their was any difference until I saw his post.

I promptly took out my Chain Box Set [which is right next to the computer, thank god] and listened to Tusk. Its MORBIDLY different!!!!! I actually prefer the Chain version!!

So anyways, before I get any deeper in my stupidity/lack of knowledge about stuff, and unobservantness, how many songs on the Chain actually sound different than the original album version?

I have labeled differently:
-Tusk
-Angel
-Beautitul Child [There is extra guitar in the end parts]
-Love In Store.
-Isn't It Midnight is the edited version
-Sara is the long version
-Say You Love Me is different than on Greatest Hits [which is why I have the GH version labeled differently]
-Gypsy is the [Better] Extended version

I know that these are live versions off of Live:
-Monday Morning
-I'm So Afraid

-Not That Funny is a previously unreleased live version
-Stand Back is a previously unreleased live version

Thats how the stuff is organized in my itunes right now.
If someone could help me out, and tell me if any other versions on the 4 disc box set are different than on the albums, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for any help!
:)

^^^

On the 4 CD Box Set the following were new/unreleased I think

Paper Doll
Love Shines
Stand back (Live)
Heart of Stone
Make me a mask
Goodbye Angel
Silver Springs (first time on CD I think)
Teen Beat
Not that funny (live)
String-a-long
Trinity

The following were remixes

Isn’t it midnight
Gypsy
Second Hand News
Love In Store
The Chain
Dreams
Gold Dust Woman
Lay It All Down
Angel
Beautiful Child
Tusk
Oh Well (first stereo version)

....although Brown Eyes sounds different to me - the guitar is more distinctive - so maybe that was remixed too

There are a few tracks from the early Fleetwood Mac line-ups that may have appeared on CD for the first time. I can’t tell from the CD notes.

I don’t think any of the remixes is quite as dramatic as Tusk (loads better) but I do like the versions of Dreams, Gypsy & Love In Store. In fact the version of Gypsy on here is the one I have on my iPod.

The Chain is totally worth having. The different versions are subtle, but are my favorite versions of the sogs as well.

Thanks for your help Stew!! :xoxo:

It allowed me to mark the Chain versions, and delete the repeat songs that I have on my ipod twice. the more availible space i have the better.

and i agree completely with you Phoenix, the Chain is one of the best FM investments I've made. Besides the Bare Trees Cd that Kathryn[Sahara here on the Ledge] sent me, I have no older Mac music, so it allowed me to see how great they were as a blues band, plus the Extended version of Gypsy was worth it alone. MUCH superior to the Mirage Version.

Thanks for the Help/Input guys!! :)

Stand Back probably was, I know that its from the Tango Tour. Probably the taped special.

Not That Funny is like a 9 minute Lindsey Screaming show with a funky Johnny McVie bassline tagged in the middle. So I dont think that its the Tusk Doc...my TD is only like 3 mintues long...and the Mirage show is 12 minutes.

I have a feeling the NTF from the box is the version from the Mirage video, except there are parts of the audio track that were cut out of the video version and there are some parts in the video version that aren't in the audio version from the box but that's just my hunch. :)

NTF is just a trimmed version of the Mirage home video. Mick wouldn't have pulled out a different performance for the box, although he certainly had the opportunity, because Frank Harding, as we know now, was rummaging through the band's soundboard recordings at the time, which is essentially how about fifteen of those soundboards eventually made their way to us fans in later years through a "middleman" from Yonkers.
