View Full Version : Vivica Fox has a lot of reasons to be happy with her life

Vivica Fox has a lot of reasons to be happy with her life. A thriving career in film, television and stage is just the start of it.
She started off with appearances on a number of television series in the early ‘90s including The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Martin, Beverly Hills 90210 and Family Matters.
She had a breakout year in 1996 with roles in the all-female gangster flick Set It Off, the heroic Independence Day opposite Will Smith, and the Wayans brothers’ comedy Don’t Be A Menace To South Central While Drinking Your Juice In The Hood.

Vivica elevated her dramatic roles with a co-lead in the feature film Soul Food, and polished her tougher side as Vernita Green in the Kill Bill movies. She is also delved into work behind the scenes, and to date has been involved in the production of seven films and a TV series, with more in the works.
While she enjoys the diversity of roles she’s taken, Vivica expresses utmost concern in balancing her career with meaningful choices. Her latest thriller Cover touches upon the controversial subject of “down low brothers. Directed by Bill Duke, the film features appearances from Louis Gossett Jr., Leon, Patti LaBelle and Mya.

Unfortunately, with consistent work in Hollywood comes rumor and speculation. Fortunately for Vivica, she’s succeeded in staying a cut above the rest. We spoke with the adventurous actress about her controversial new movie, her love for the Hip-Hop community and her sometimes controversial life.

AllHipHop.com: Tell us a little about your new movie Cover.

Vivica Fox: The reason I got involved with Cover was because of Bill Duke. He directed an episode of [the TV series] Missing and I just enjoyed working with him. He's such a wonderful actor/director. He got me the script, I read it and loved it.
When he broke down the steps about 70% of new cases of HIV that are reported every year in the African-American community are African-American women, and how 7 out of 10 men in the Washington, D.C. area are infected with HIV, I said, “These are messages that are informative and affecting my community and I need to be in a project to enlighten, inspire and inform. That was a no-brainer for me.

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd169/cielosharon/vivica5.jpg

AllHipHop.com: You have a disclaimer on the front of your website that you're not starring in a play, [Whatever She Wants]. You had somebody saying [falsely] that you were starring in a play?

Vivica Fox: Whatever She Wants is a play that at the time was written for Vivica Fox.
It was written for me, I was out on the road with it for 14 weeks. The producers decided to go back out without me because of professional differences, and they weren't informative. They were still using my voice on the radio ads, and I just thought that it was deceptive.

I just wanted to make sure that they didn't go there, because I always hate when you go to a play or to see a production and you think a certain individual is gonna be there, you spend your hard earned money to see that certain individual and they're not there. I don't ever want to misdirect my fans or let them down, I always try to be as honest and truthful with them as possible. I just felt that [the producers] kind of deceived them. I just wanted to make sure they knew that when they got there that I wasn't going to be there.

AllHipHop.com: What [has] been most challenging for you in your career?

Vivica Fox: [What's been the most challenging] is to [try not to] complain about my career and keep breathing. Everybody wants to say, "Well, what haven't you done?" I've done so much and been so blessed. I've done comedies, dramas, worked with the best… so I can't really complain.

AllHipHop.com: When you look at something as emotional as Set It Off and as fierce as Kill Bill, have you had to really develop your acting skills. What's harder, being emotional or being [serious]?

Vivica Fox: Comedy's actually the hardest to be honest with you. Being emotional for me is a breeze, because I'm an emotional specimen. To cry and feel drama... people have no idea, they just think I've lived the charmed life. But I've been a fighter and on my own since I was 17 years old.

Comedy's the hardest because if it ain’t funny, trust me, it falls flat on its butt. Drama sometimes will give you a little grace, and you're able to save yourself with that one. Comedy's hard, for real. It either works or doesn’t, because sometimes people don't get your humor.

Like I learned with [the HBO series] Curb Your Enthusiasm, that humor was a whole different type of humor that I had to get used to. Then you do your comedy where your brothers and sisters love your over-the-top, in-your-face type of humor. Then you have sitcom humor, which is very scripted. Comedy is hard. With dramas, that material is usually there and as an actor you bring it. Comedy sometimes is a little more physical and harder.

AllHipHop.com: People say that you're so hard and serious about everything, especially on the Hip-Hop side. Obviously they know you as an actress, but then they hear your name said in rap songs and rumors about you, and you'll come [behind it] and say, "That is not true" - obviously [you’ve been] upset, as anyone would be if there's something said that's not true.

Vivica Fox: I wish my life was as scandalous as what people think of me! [laughs] I really do. I don't get why I turned into such a scandalous one, but it's all good. You’ve gotta learn to laugh at life. Scandal and sex sells nowadays, or always has, to be honest with you. So you’ve gotta learn to get thick skin about that.

Another thing I want to tell people is, I'm one of the silliest, fun-loving people that could ever be your friend. I love to shop, go to the spa, bowl - I love life. But I don't like people talking s**t about me, and for that, I will stand up for myself.

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd169/cielosharon/50_cent59.jpg

AllHipHop.com: How does it make you feel that Hip-Hop has embraced you to such a degree that rappers are saying your name, and they've made you a staple [actress within the culture]?

Vivica Fox: Hip-Hop has been really good to me, it really has. That goes back before 50 [Cent] - Biggie was one of the first rappers to put me in a song - "Watch me set it off like Vivica." People forget that I've been involved with Hip-Hop from Tupac, he was a very good friend of mine. I was in his video back in the day.

It's not just Curtis who took me to [where I am now]. For that, it was just because somebody was dating me, it was like, "Oh my God, she likes thugs too." That was kind of surprising [for fans] when I was supposed to be this little red carpet glamorous princess. Princesses like bad boys too, but you get over that when you get a little bit older. But they can be fun. It was a wonderful adventure, and I had a great time.

I just love the Hip-Hop community, because with dating Curtis, it introduced me to a whole new generation. So it's been good to me, I look at it as a double edged sword. Patti LaBelle told me a long time ago, "Baby when they stop talking about you, that's when you worry."

AllHipHop.com: Do you see yourself going further into television now that you've gotten a good taste of it?

Vivica Fox: Well you know, I do what's next. I go with what's happening, what's hot and the projects that are available to me. But I also try to make sure that I'm not afraid to go and look for my project, which is next for me to produce myself.

I've produced seven films and a television show. I was Executive Producer of my show on Lifetime. I've got a pilot right now that I just shot with VH-1, where I was Executive Producer as well with that. So I'm always looking for what's next for Vivica.

Wasn't she in that movie "Two Can Play That Game" or something like that [it came on Oxygen one night at like 12 am, and I just watched it]
and she was in Kill Bill with Uma Thurman.
and she dated 50.

but other than that...nope have no idea why shes remotely noteworthy.
Truthfully...besides Kill Bill...I dont think she was in any other big movies.

Vivica A. Fox arrives at the First Annual Essence Black Women In Hollywood Luncheon on February 21, 2008 in Beverly Hills, California.

Former Dancing With the Stars contestant Vivica A. Fox says the new season of the hit show will be "hot."

"I am very excited about the new cast and they got a lot of chocolate in the house!" she told Usmagazine.com. "You have young and old and a little bit of chocolate from the fellas!"

Fox tells Us she will be voting for her favorite contestants and hopes to attend the show in person. "I may even go to a couple of shows this season, she said. "I may need to see that chocolate up close!"

Her advice to the new cast?

"Stretch!" she said. "Do the work but more importantly make sure you stretch. The 6 hours a day will literally kick your ass!"

her eye socket looks like it's crumbling!

from dlisted:

Watching Vivica Fox trying to wink is making me nervous. Her mug is pulled so tight that it probably took her a good 10 minutes to perform that wink. The photographers probably went and got a coffee while she tried to figure out how she was going to do it without her weave popping off from all the pressure. Next time, she just needs to use her fingers to pull down her lid. She shouldn't strain herself.

Hollywood heavyweights made a stop in Charleston Saturday night to encourage lowcountry communities to come together.

Actress and former dancing with the stars competitor Vivica Fox and her famous friends are in town for a Bailey's Bash fundraiser. The group wants to build a "hope center" where Charleston youth can strengthen their minds, bodies and spirit.

Fox says, "sometimes it takes a village to make sure that we all come together to provide a future for the next generation to let them know that we care."

She will bring even more celebrities to the lowcountry during the July 4th weekend for a humanitarian awards show in North Charleston.

Rumour Mill: A Baby for Beyoncé?

It was only four days ago that Beyoncé was celebrating her marriage to long-time boyfriend Jay-Z at a party in his lavish NYC penthouse, and now OK! has learned that the couple could soon have a baby on the way.

“I've heard that Beyoncé is pregnant from at least two people,” a source close to the couple tells OK!.

In past interviews, the Crazy in Love singer has talked cautiously about her desire to start a family. "You can't rush a man into anything whether it's a relationship, marriage or having children. " Beyoncé has said. "When he's ready he'll let you know."

Even friend Vivica A. Fox can't wait for the happy couple to start a family. "I wish them many, many years of happiness and some babies," she tells OK!. "I think she will be really pretty pregnant, just like J. Lo and Halle Berry."

Keep a look out for a growing baby bump if the rumours hold true.

Wanna know how it feels to do a dip in a pair of "Dancing with the Stars" shoes?

Now you can.

Starting April 10, you can bid on on several sexy shoes worn on the show by Lisa Rinna, Trista Sutter, Jane Seymour, Melanie (a.k.a. Scary Spice) Brown, Leeza Gibbons, Stacey Keibler, Vivica Fox, and Marissa Jaret Winokur!

'DWTS' two-time winner Julianne Hough and Dr. Scholl's for Her have partnered on this new celebrity shoe auction to raise money for the very worthy- and very fashionable - charity foundation Clothes off our Back.

You're supposed to get upset...

No kidding. That's exactly why this thread got 400 hits over night-cause you've all been waiting for me to explode.Ain't gonna happen Liam. In all their meanness there has been too much good humor to enjoy as well, you know like those two cartoons GDO made which ARE very funny.
To set the record straight and I know none of you could care less but here it goes anyway:
I have been attracted to Viv since approx. 2003 until recently when she's embahrassed me with her henious plastic surgeries and botched boob job. Because she's my "babe" I'll stick with her thru the good times and the bad. She has made several movies but I've only ever seen one of them. I loved seeing her with 50 Cent. The outfit she wore on that date with him to the MTV awards was smokin' hot!
Despite the way she's looked lately this woman in my opinion is simply gorgeous. Especially for a woman who is 44 years old. She could easily pass for 25. Many a man out here has a crush on her as multiple songs have been written with her name in them. You guys will never hear these songs as you've made it abundently clear your disdain of rap music.
I could have posted any number of photos showing how scary she's looking but chose not to. I chose to show you the good pics instead. And I do think her career is on the upswing and not the down. She has a damn good publicist as her name pops up in some sort of news story every 7 days.
So you guys can continue bashing her if it makes you feel good but Im gonna keep posting about her for the pure enjoyment of entertainment, which is why we're all really here on the Ledge in the first place.

Obviously you're trying to come off as some kind of pitiful victim here Vixfox, but the fact is you're posting a self-indulgent thread that no one is interested in except yourself and continue to bump it up for your own gratification. Most messageboards that would be frowned upon, but here instead people simply point out the pointlessness of your thread and you act oblivious to it.
I don't care whether you "explode" or not, this thread got 400 views overnight because it was at the top of the Chit Chat forum, not because anyone is waiting for anything. Again, it goes to show how ego-centric you are that you think a criticism is due to the fact that "people hate me" or "people want to be mean to me". The criticism is of the thread and the way you ram it down everyone's throats. We all know what an ego boost you get from how many views your threads get. No one else is doing that here. I could gladly start a thread indulging in any one of my celebrity obsessions but I have the common courtesy not to.

Most of us are on the Ledge for Fleetwood Mac and the friends we've made here actually. Post away if you if your ego feels it necessary but please don't play the victim when people make fun of you for posting an article that simply includes a throwaway mention of Vivica Fox and bears no interest to anyone here besides yourself.

To be honest it does seem like people are only reading this to see a reaction from her or wait for a post that they can reply with somethingg snarky to. I don't think she's ramming anything down our throats cause we don't have to read it in the first place. There are some really long threads that I've never bothered opening so anyone could just do the same here

Pointing out pointlessness? If something is pointless, why bother taking the time or energy to even mention it? If someone doesn't appreciate Vivica Fox or anyone else, why would they even go into a thread that is clearly about her, other than to incite ridicule of the original poster, which is against the rules.

While people do come here primarily for Fleetwood Mac, there is a chit chat forum for a reason, to discuss things other than Fleetwood Mac. There are many topics that I don't find interesting, as I'm sure is the case for most people, but if I don't like them, I don't read them. Again, what is the motivation to come to a thread where you clearly don't have any interest in the subject of that thread?

I've actually put Vivfox on ignore so he doesn't have to worry about me anymore.

This I agree with, I just think that maybe it would be better to do it before berating someone for posting a thread you took the time to open and read just because you don't like the subject matter, or the frequency in which the OP posts about it. If you think it is an issue that impacts the board, then you should bring it to the attention of the moderators.

So, aren't you doing the same thing? You are attatching sinister sounding motives to people you don't know. Painting them as having some intrinsic character flaw. Is it to make yourself feel more superior?

If it bothers you so much, doesn't your ignore feature work as well? I thought that was how it was supposed to work. If you don't like what someone says, you can comment in the thread (within the stated rules) of your displeasure with the poster or you have the option to use the ignore feature.

If you hate Mc Donalds, do you stop into every one you pass on your drive into work just to mention that their food sucks? If someone did that would you say that's dysfunctional, or the person has unreasonable views of their own importance? I'd at least say that it was pretty crazy of them, and pointless to boot. If they were tricked into the Mc Donalds, because the sign outside said Tavern On The Green, or forced to go, that's a different story.

Reading and commenting on a post you don't like in a thread is fine. This isn't the case here. People know damn well they don't like Vivica Fox, but still clicked on the thread. (See my previous post about Mc Donalds). If you go into a thread that's accurately titled only to make fun of what was posted is ridiculing the original poster, and that is against the rules. Now, if the OP is cool with it and has a sense of humor that's fine, but lets not try to spin it into anything else than what it is.

Pointing out that there are individuals who are walking a thin line between acceptable behavior on the threads and behaviors that aren't, and explaining why, isn't bashing.

As far as putting "bashers" on ignore, people shouldn't have to accommodate individuals who can't play nice. The individuals who can't play nice should have to follow the rules, or start their own club.

That's not really relevant to my argument, and not even nearly a comparable situation. If I happened to be in my usual McDonalds minding my own business eating burgers and fries, and each time I visited I saw the same person in the corner doing something slightly irrelevant and annoying, it would eventually be reasonable of me to ask why they're doing it, and if they kept doing it, I'd be entitled to make it clear how annoying they were.

Everyone else in that McDonalds could, in fact, ~ignore~ me if they wanted.

It's very comparable actually. Let's not get stuck on Mc Donalds though. You can insert any resteraunt that you don't like and compare it to this thread. If you know you don't like a place you don't go in it. If you do, you made that choice and shouldn't complain. How is that not comparable to what's happening here?

So you are saying that you and other individuals here enjoy Vivica Fox and came into the thread, but didn't like the posts about her once you were here so pointed that out?

Indeed, I don't quite see your point.

And no, I'm saying that "other individuals here" like coming on this message board, and into chitchat, and had opinions about this thread. So they pointed it out. Personally, before I read this thread, I had no idea who Vivica Fox is or was, and life was much better then.

Ok, now you've edited, I think I understand what you're trying to say. You're comparing this thread to a restaurant I don't like. Consider the restuarant to be on a street you walk down every day, a street you like, and you see that restaurant every day. You don't see the point of that restaurant because it serves food that doesn't seem to be relevant to anything. Say it serves dog food. After passing that restaurant a few hundred times, I would probably eventually walk in and say, "Why the hell do you serve dog food? No-one eats it."

I'm saying if you don't like something, or aren't interested in something it's irrational to take part in it only to complain about it, and yet that's what people did when they logged on, saw the title of this thread and still opened it, then started posting about how stupid it was.

I don't think that as a moderator I have the option of putting people on ignore. I do think sometimes that all the petty BS that goes back and forth is, well...petty. If someone could explain to me the usefulness of it, maybe I could gain some understanding? I know that we can post what may seem like boring threads as long as they don't go against the board's rules. If you see that a thread is about Vivica Fox, and you either a) don't like her or b) don't like the person who started the thread, why comment on it. I can understand clicking the link and reading because I sometimes do that (even before I became a moderator)- you know, the whole morbid curiosity thing.

Anyway, life is too short for stuff like this, isn't it?

Everyone has character flaws. Nobody is perfect or superior. Humility is a character strength.

you quoted my post but didn't seem to address anything put to you.

Yep we all have character flaws but i don't think that was the discussion.

Nobody is perfect or superior - agreed. But you said that felling superior was one of the "bashers" motivations yet you were doing the same thing.
How is bashing bashers any different?

And where the hell did "Humility is a character strength." come from?
Apple Jacks is a breakfast cereal but what's your point?

If you hate Mc Donalds, do you stop into every one you pass on your drive into work just to mention that their food sucks? If someone did that would you say that's dysfunctional, or the person has unreasonable views of their own importance? I'd at least say that it was pretty crazy of them, and pointless to boot. If they were tricked into the Mc Donalds, because the sign outside said Tavern On The Green, or forced to go, that's a different story.

What a silly comparison.
A restaurant?? - come on.

Much more like a Sushi Track.:wavey:

but seriously - There are people who hate McDonald's and though they don't go into every restaurant to express their displeasure they work behind the scenes. Asking their friends why they would feed their kids that crap.

I still don't think the comparison holds true though.
You just seem to think that if someone isn't gonna respond the way the original poster wants you to, then you shouldn't be posting at all.

The individuals who can't play nice should have to follow the rules, or start their own club.

my experience with the ledge is that some of the best conversations pop up in the strangest places. People poking through threads with titles they don't like, doesn't mean they won't find things in there to comment on.

And are you applying for a moderator post or something. Not one moderator has seen an infraction of the rules in this thread yet you keep trying to twist and interpret things to make things WAAAAAAAY more sinister than they are. The original poster hasn't registered any strong displeasure and has actually found some of the diversions funny. And he has still kept posting Viv stuff.

The system works - and try to get a sense of humor.

You have deemed people who "don't play nice" and decided that you shouldn't have to accommodate them by ignoring them? That sounds ridiculous. Should we burn them instead? You don't decide who stays or goes around here (nor do I, thankfully) but it sure sounds like you want to. Is there really a huge problem here or is this you trying to make it that way?

I'm saying if you don't like something, or aren't interested in something it's irrational to take part in it only to complain about it, and yet that's what people did when they logged on, saw the title of this thread and still opened it, then started posting about how stupid it was.

it's an opinionated batch around here.
If you want "group think" apply at 7W. It's like one big amoeba over there.

I think people started by laughing at it, which is different to complaining about it, and not irrational at all.

Amen BonB. No one was mean. Just expressed questioning of the thread in a way that might be funny.

I think some did. But, some people just love to shiitte all over other people's likes and all. The test is subjective, but it clearly happens

and you got to admit strand - sometimes it's hilarious.

You don't seem to get it, so I won't force the issue; however, to laugh or make fun of someone else's posts is a form of ridicule, and it is against the rules here.

contortionist much? -
people were poking fun at Vivica Fox the actress with the boob dent not the ledgie known as Viv Fox. She is a public figure so it's ok. lol

Anyway, life is too short for stuff like this, isn't it?

i bet you wish you could ignore some posts i am sure. But was there really any fouls here jannie? people made each other laugh and no one is hurt or pissed.

You said it was boring (yawn) before and I am sure many agree and have abandoned the thread all together but there really didn't seem to be any harm done. People express their pleasure and displeasure around these parts, and believe it or not it makes us stronger as a whole.

Good God I sound like Dr. Phil.:woohoo:

Two motivators: 1) Bashing other people gives them a false sense of superiority. 2) Bashing other people distracts them from their own issues. </$.02>

Look I'm sorry this thread has caused so much controversy. I adore Vivica Fox and yes I know this is a FM forum, but this is the chit chat section that has nothing to do with the band. Therefore I'm posting in the proper forum.
If you want the truth YES I was offended at some of the words posted here because they were done intentionally by a few people who clearly don't like me at all. And no, don't even try to accuse me of being paranoid or accuse me of thinking they're out to get me. I pm'd Sharon(trackaghost) and suggested to her that if she didn't have anything nice to say would she please keep her negative opinions to herself.
The very next day there were a bunch of posts all directed at me by Sharon and her little group of followers which you all have read. I know you guys were mocking me.
Then Sharon posted that really long thread telling me off in general. She said I get such a big ego boost when people read my threads. She claimed that the only reason over 200 people read this thread was because I keep bumping it to the top. Hey Sharon there have been many threads at the top that I have never opened because the subject matter didn't interest me. So that doesn't fly with me here. You and I both know it's been read a lot lately because people are hoping to read a loud internet fight. I know you told your friends about my pm and that's why you all ganged up for the attack. The only thread I track how many hits it gets is my Tusk Tour thread. And I do get an ego boost from that thread and am not afraid to admit it. Any of you can go look through that thread and you will see the same few meanies ranking on me in there as well. During that time the Tusk Tour thread had its most ever views, again people waiting for a fight IMO.
Up until tonight Michelle2677 had a gravestone as her sig pic with the name Viv Fox on it and below it it said RIP. That was funny for like 5 minutes and then I became annoyed. I do think I have a good sense of humor but making that your sig was mocking me pure and simple.
Carrie highlighting jokingly this thread has been viewed 1,03o times is making fun of me and she knows it.
After Sharon posted that really long thread telling me off I sent her a sarcastic pm boasting how many people read this thread and then she let's us all know she put me on ignore. What she means is I can no longer send her pm's. She still can see anything I have posted publicly. And I guarantee she and her little cronies read this all the time waiting to see everyones reactions, including mine.
In my Tusk Tour thread she and her gang were questioning why I was posting old articles that were already on The Penguin. I posted them because they pertained to the subject at hand and there were many people who did not know they even existed or where to find them. I notice when Michele posts the many older articles she never has to endure any disrespect from you. So that's one of the reasons how I know it is personal.
Some of the jokes made about VivFox were funny but all in all people it is my screen name after all. I collectively ask you right now if you don't like the things I post perhaps you can tell me so in a private pm and not publicly roll your eyes at me. Also I am thankful to those few people who did "stand up" for me in this thread. At least they see through all the BS like I do.
From this point on just to spare us all the trouble, I will report abuse to a moderator when I feel it is warranted. Probably because up till this point I didn't complain about it, no one was held accountable for their rudeness.

I didn't say what I said to feel superior and you're making an assumption saying that.

Exactly.
And the people ("bashers") weren't doing so to feel superior but yet that is what your assumption was as to their motivation.
You were doing what you accused them of doing.
And now I am doing it to you.
I don't mean that in a ****ty way -
It's just a very slippery slope and strangely circular - that is my point.

See?

I was stating what I believe to be fact. I would dig up the psych research that backs up the theory but that is really pointless. You disagree with me so be it. :shrug

I just disagree that you can so easily put someone's motivation into a little box like that. You leaned toward the darker motivations for people yet there were many laughs had in the thread. Being funny is a major motivation around here for many people. I just offer that goofing around shouldn't be construed as a reason to accuse people of superiority complexes.

And as in life, we can ignore those we don't find funny. As I said, the system works.
(Even in Brown. )

It just doesn't seem like this goofy exchange about vivica fox (the actress) is the attack some posters are trying to make it out to be.

I guess my point is that once someone says they are offended, that ought to be it. Would it kill anyone to drop it and leave it alone. I mean the parties involved have had their say/fun. What harm is there in moving on and not offending anyone more. um. excuse me? so no one can tell you what to post, but you can tell me what to put in my sig? in my sig history, i've always had signatures for long periods of time. most of that is due to the fact that I can't think of anything else to put up there so I just leave it.

You could have posted something back like:

add one or two of these :]:]:wavey::lol::shocked: ( see - you made a funny too.)

My ignore feature has never been used and never will be. No one on the internet can get under my skin enough to make me do that. Some one once said "Keep close track of your friends but closer track of your enemies." It could have been Beethoven right? :wavey:

As for that smelly Rhinelander, he couldn't clean the crust out of his eyes fast enough. Did you know he once threw a hot gooseberry pie at his housekeeper? He thought she was stealing small portions of food from his pantry. Understandably, she tried to have him arrested for that. (It was the same summer he tried to brain Prince Lichnowsky with a dining chair at his lordship's country estate in Silesia.)

Hey, here's an intimate performance of Copland's QUIET CITY from some college kids at Monash University. For many of us movie lovers in the United States, QUIET CITY hits home. Apart from being used so evocatively in some of Spike Lee's social dramas of the 1990s, QUIET CITY influenced the soundtracks of many mid-century American films portraying the lives of the urban "displaced," of postwar denizens of cities in the years when sprawl, development & the population explosion transformed the American landscape.

What makes me scratch my head is that Fleetwood Mac fans, and maybe even more so, Stevie Nicks fans are an extremely diverse group of people, whom I'm sure have experienced their share of ridicule, judgment, maybe even worse. I don't keep track of peoples sexual preferences, religion, or race around here, but I'm pretty sure some of the people taking part in making fun of Vivfox are bi, gay, or lesbians, and have been open about it. I guess it boils down to the fact that at the core we are all still human, but I would think that if you were ever in a situation where you felt like people thought less of you for whatever reason, you wouldn't try so hard to make someone else feel badly just because you get a laugh out of it.

And those people have often been addressed. Anyway, this is about making fun of vivfox the poster, not the actress. If you didn't make fun of him/her then what do you care what people say about others who did?

Everyone takes all this sh*t so personally. Just use the golden rule. If a bunch of people were teasing you then you wouldn't be happy about it. Can you step outside yourself for a moment to see that? It just isn't cool. And addressing the fact that you shouldn't do it isn't a personal attack on you, it's a statement of what is acceptable behavior and what isn't.

I still don't think the comparison holds true though.
You just seem to think that if someone isn't gonna respond the way the original poster wants you to, then you shouldn't be posting at all.

Of course I don't think this, and I never said it either. I just don't think people should try to stir things up, or go out of their way to make other people feel badly. You can argue that this isn't the case, but anyone can look at peoples posting history and see that there are patterns.

And are you applying for a moderator post or something. Sinister? Are you kidding. Insensitive, absolutely but let's not overdue it. I don't need to be a monitor to point out that maybe someone feels that they are being made fun of, whether they say it publicly or not, in the hopes that people might just be clueless to that fact and maybe take the high road and knock it off.

The system works - and try to get a sense of humor.
Humor is subjective. Mine just isn't the same as yours. I'm OK with that.

I think once someone says "Hey, I feel like I'm being taunted" I don't see why there would be any argument after that point. If someone says "you hurt my feelings" do you try to argue with them and rationalize their feelings, or do you just take their words at face value and respect that?

Burn them? I thought sinister was a stretch, OK, now I am laughing, see I do have a sense of humor! Listen, I know a while ago you used to post a lot of threads of videos of your band, which many people, including myself, really enjoyed. If a small group of people decided that your threads were stupid and continuously posted about it, I would have posted the same thing I am saying about this one. I wouldn't think it would be fair for everyone who enjoyed your performances to have to put those people on ignore, I would expect those people to act respectfully, and yes follow the guidlines of the board. I just don't get why that's such a hard concept to grasp?

Damn, I thought I was done with this nonsense.
All these arguments about not going into threads because you're not interested in the subject matter is rubbish, because anyone who reads the Ledge regularly knows threads go off on many weird directions and interesting tangents. In fact this thread is a perfect case in point. Imagine all the drama people avoiding this thread because they don't like Vivica Fox are missing!

After Sharon posted that really long thread telling me off I sent her a sarcastic pm boasting how many people read this thread and then she let's us all know she put me on ignore. What she means is I can no longer send her pm's. She still can see anything I have posted publicly.

Actually, until now I couldn't see the stuff you posted because the ignore function hides the posts of the person in question. I stand by what I said before, but I don't understand the criticism of putting you ignore since you yourself requested that I do so.

I think it was just Sarah (who I've barely interacted with) and myself who questioned why you were posting those articles and you chose not to respond to it or explain. You could have just said that. And yes it's very annoying for you to bump a thread just to write "100 people have viewed this thread!" I find it odd that you don't understand that or why you don't understand why posting a huge, screensize photo of Vivica Fox in an unrelated thread on Stevie Nicks or whoever might also be annoying. There's only been two times I've questioned you : that Tusk thread (in which I only asked what the point of the thread was once, I don't think I was rude at all) and this thread. Maybe I went too far in this thread but I definitely haven't been going after you in other threads and you know that. To tell you the truth, I'm not even sure how you know my name, that's how little I've interacted with you or know you. I don't know yours.

Sharon and her little group of followers

she and her little cronies

Can someone make it clear who I / we are supposed to be blindly following? Today it's Sharon, but it seems to vary. I have no mind of my own so I need to be enlightened. And why are we little? Comments like that are offensive, but because I am an adult, I deal with life's little insults by not giving a stuff and moving on.

People need to realise here that most of the mocking was of the actress, not the poster. If someone posts a picture of an actress with a breast that looks like that, what are we supposed to do? Sit here with rainbows and roses all around us and say how much we'd all like breasts like that? It so happens, I assume, that vivfox the poster shares his name with viv fox the actress. Some people seem to hold the opinion that there are a group of us who just like to mock other posters. Maybe a few do. I see most of the mocking and laughing going on aimed at the content of the threads / posts and not the originator. Whether it suits anyone's agenda or not, there IS a difference, and there always will be a difference. If there was no difference, all of vivfox's threads would be filled with abuse and teasing. They aren't. Sorry about that.

I hope those concerned can see through the BS in my post, I hope I managed to lace it with enough for your delectation.

um. excuse me? so no one can tell you what to post, but you can tell me what to put in my sig? in my sig history, i've always had signatures for long periods of time. most of that is due to the fact that I can't think of anything else to put up there so I just leave it.

and so...the person who made the pic orignally wasn't mocking you? aaaaannnnddd....the several other people who laughed at it weren't mocking you? just me? I was the only one? get over yourself.

and it was funny for 5 minutes? I was supposed to be able to magically gauge when the threshold for it being funny had expired? oh no. you're annoyed. join the club.

I've never had any beef with you, but if that's what you think -whatever.

Michelle I just want to apologise to you. When I was complaining about rude people I did not mean to add you to that particular group of abusers. Even though it sounded that way, I just want you to know that it's true what you said, about us never having beef and I don't want to have bad feelings between us. I was looking through a few older posts tonight and noticed that everytime you post anything it's done with kindness. I believe you when you said you were ranking on the actress and not me, so I'm apologising for going off on you the way I did.:):)

The gang-bashing must come to an end.

If you find a thread or subject boring, simply skip it. If you must explore the thread and only discover that it's boring (or retarded) after you're already in it, then just back out quietly. There is no need to announce your acute disinterest by ridiculing and mocking the poster. There's certainly no need to do it repeatedly, over the course of several days.

We tried to ignore a jab or two, but for some posters once can never be enough. The insults continued. You even dredged up ancient posts made by Ledgies who no longer participate, just to revisit your dislike of them. This is not a celebrity roast where insults are considered entertaining.

You are not the arbiters of what is humorous, relevant, worthy, or worthwhile on this board and your efforts to silence, squelch and embarass others won't be tolerated.

The offenders are all receiving strikes and a 7-day suspension. This strike will add to the count of those who have been banned in the past.

Your anticipated requests for "clarification" will be ignored since they are merely argumentative, not constructive or productive. No explanation would satisfy you. More importantly, none is needed or deserved.
