a lot of vacation threads going on right now. I figured i'd start a general one so you can post stuff here :)

in 6 weeks i'm going to london :blob1:

i'll stay there for about a week, so not a lot of time when you bring jet lag into the equation.

i already have a few plans set up, but any advice??

anyone else going anywhere soon? :)

In March I make my way to Austin for the SXSW music festival. This is my favorite party of the entire year and I can't wait!!!

In May I am going to Vegas to see the one and only true megastar, Cherilyn Sarkisian LaPiere Bono Allman Just Plain CHER in her new show at Ceasars Palace. Yes, I do believe in life after love.

Fouth of July is usually spent with my family at our parents home in Colorado.

In August I plan to spend a week in P-town -- long overdue.

I also want to go to The Woodlands and see Tom Petty play at the end of August. It's such a pretty venue and he ends his tour there and the whole thing just seems right to me.

So, those are my 2008 vacation plans.

anyone else going anywhere soon? :)Pacific Grove, a little hamlet adjacent to Monterey on the California coast. There's a NOAA office there.

Later on, I'm heading up to Arcata/Humboldt to speak with Lori Dengler about the state of tsunami modeling on computers

I'm going to Washington D.C on April 23rd to see a game at the Nationals new baseball stadium, then the next day I'm flying back and on friday the 25th I'm driving to St.Louis to see the Cardinals play the Astros for 2 games. Maybe some other things in the summer. We shall see. I know when I go to Washington I'm really looking forward to seeing the WW2 memorial. I havent seen that yet

I've only worked one week in the last 4 and I'm ready for a holiday:).

I'm heading to Buttermilk, Colorado next Thursday for a long weekend to mark a year with my woman but as her kids are coming along it may not be quite the romantic trip I had in mind:laugh:.

In the March school holidays we (and the dogs) are heading down to California. We'll spend most of the time in Santa Cruz. I don't know what I'm doing in the summer holidays yet. I am spending a few days at the motogp race in Indianapolis in July but no other plans.

I have 24 days holiday and that is supposed to last me a year. I'll have to take some sick leave - I don't know how many of those you are allowed:laugh:!

I am graduating in May and I really need to figure out where I want to go to celebrate. I'm thinking maybe Key West? I also want to go home to NY this summer for a visit. I'm so envious of people who can go on fabulous vacations- there is so much I want to see in this world!

Good idea for a thread, Michelle. I'm going to Phoenix soon to visit friends and to Jersy this summer for a wedding plus fireworks in NYC for the 4th, probably on the water somewhere. That is going to be pretty sweet!

^ David, I'm buying a condo on the ocean here on the east coast (no view though), is that a bad idea tsunami-wise? Earthquake? Hopefully not!

Waaaah! I don't even know when I'm taking a vacation next. I had a little money out aside, but I need 2 root canals, an implant, some bonework (I think he said a 'graft'?) and then some braces.
I have dental insurance, but it won't pay for all of it- especially the braces. My vacation will be the dentist office, once or twice a week for the next few months...

Well, at least he's easy on the eyes..

Yo jbrownsjr.

Welcome back from Sweden!!

(Psst...I read the other thread.)

Was it cold up there?

As for Petep9000 --- you'll have the nicest smile on the planet, and isn't that better than a vacation?
And if that is a photo of your dentist, yes, he is very easy on the eyes....

good luck with the dental work. if you have any questions, feel free to ask me :) and sometimes you can get dental insurances to pay for orthodontics as long as it's not for "esthetic" reasons.

and...where exactly is this dentist located?

Spring Break 2008! WOOHOO!

I'm going nowhere that I know of. Not a lot of extra cash since I'm the only breadwinner right now. :p Many of you know we do several camping trips every year, but it's kind of hard to plan for this summer when I have no clue what my husband's work schedule will be like at that time. So probably just a few weekend trips a short drive away. Nothing exotic or thrilling, sorry to say.

I'm going to.. get ready for it... CLEVELAND! on Wednesday. I'm going to see the New York Dolls, and we're leaving after that, so it's not much of a vacation, but damnit, it's a day away from this hell hole.

Also going to NYC next month for a Raveonettes show - not sure when I'm going and how long I'm staying, but it's pretty much a given. If I had my way, of course, I'd never be leaving

I went there about four or five years ago. You're not missing much - it's just big and bland and overpriced, basically. It's cool seeing the memorabilia, but personally, I don't think it's worth the $25 admission. Instead of going there, I plan on spending money I don't have on toys at Big Fun in the Coventry area ^_^

last week of august and first week of september to Brittany in France :
http://www.campingdeschevrets.fr/pages/camping.html

we've been there before and i loooovvvve the beach there. in the mornings it's so quiet when i take my daily wake-up walk, and the beach and rocks look different every day. For me it's the perfect place to completely air my head and where i can catch up on my reading. We also plan to take a day trip to Jersey where i'll go absolutely crazy and let myself shop till i drop :D

other than that we do not have any plans yet. maybe a few days to the belgian coast or if we win with the lottery we might take a trip to London.
we'll see.

You're right, it is. Carrie & I jokingly compare/contrast Buffalo & Cleveland. They really are nice cities - I mean, if you're looking for sweet resorts & expensive hotspots, don't bother. But if you love hsitoric waterfront cities with great architecture & interesting things to see & do, they're great!

I never had been to one until the trip to Cozumel . . . and I wasn't sure about it because I had heard the food isn't always good or worth the extra expense. I have to say that the food that I had was awesome and I had no complaints at all. Our room had a fully stocked bar in it with several large dispenser bottles of premium liquor. Now, I do drink socially, but the amount in our room was ridiculous! Heaven forbid if someone with a serious alcohol problem were to stay there - they could likely kill themselves by drinking too much.

Been to all inclusive place once,2 years ago at Cancun.
We got upgraded since the hurricane had wrecked the hotel we were meant to stay.
On the first day we took money with us when we went to eat,
because,"it´s going to cost something anyway" it didn´t.
The only holiday i've returned from with half of my spending money.

This years plan,Amsterdam in june
and also planning a one day cruise on a lake.
