New to The Ledge; Stevie Nicks Remix Project

[GoldDustOrphan]

Hi everyone,

Cliffs Notes Version: I was 13 year-old dedicated Pat Benatar fan when I bought the single for Stop Draggin' My Heart Around at Sears after seeing the Stevie's video on Solid Gold. Two years later, I was forced to tell Pat the bad news - I was leaving her for Stevie and I hoped she wouldn't take it too hard.
Anyway, the Ledge is a wonderful resource and radiates a great sense of community. I work with a growing armada of DJs, nightclubs and event producers, etc., so now that I'm suitably entrenched in the industry, I will be actively advocating and campaigning for more remixes until you, I and Stevie can't spin no more.

Below are the first of 20 direct download links. I will posting all of my Stevie/FM dance remixes. I have included some background on a few (which follows the links.) I'm sure most of you of excavated many of these, but I hope there's one or two that is new. I spoke with Tracy Young yesterday, and basically...any day now. More info below...

1) Deep Dish Feat. Stevie Nicks - Dreams (Dub Mix & Club Mix set rip)
The "Dub Mix & Club Mix set rip" was actually ripped from one of Deep Dish's live sets where Sharam mixed in and out of the their Club & Dub mixes.

2) Fleetwood Mac - Dreams (White Label 2004 Remix)
DJ Susan Morabito - who broke the glass ceiling for women circuit DJs - has played this track during Morning Parties on Fire Island. Last year, she included in a special promo set.

3) Stevie Nicks - Edge of Seventeen (White Label 2002 Remix)
My friend DJ Richie LaDue surprised me with this one Saturday night in Provincetown. He played it and then handed me the vinyl. He knew his life depended on it.

4) Stevie Nicks - Stand Back (Terranova & Austin Leeds Remix)
Stevie Nicks - Stand Back (Starkillers Vegas Strip Unreleased Mix)
Nick Terranova also records, remixes and DJs under the name Starkillers. This mix was favored by more adventurous electro house DJs.

5) Stevie Nicks - Stand Back (Disconet Mix)
Disconet was the first DJ remix service widely accepted by dance clubs throughout the U.S. and elsewhere. Released in 1986, a few years after Stand Back's original release, this 7 minute edit by Art Maharg contains samples from Rhiannon and Edge of Seventeen. It's really dated, with faux synth wallops that sound very Fisher Price My First Keyboard.

6) Fleetwood Mac - Go Your Own Way (The Dave Aude Ultrasound Long Remix)
Most have heard Dave's great remix, but usually only the radio edit. The Ultrasound Long Remix is even better.

7) Stevie Nicks - Planets Of The Universe (Illicit Vocal Dub Mix)
I uploaded the illicit Vocal Dub Mix of Planets, because it was this track - with a new keyboard line and a carthartic re-editing of Stevie's throwaway line "You Won't Forget!" that DJs were playing at peak hours or mashing with Madonna's Music. Some of the most influential DJs still throw it down now and then. While Tracy's mix was gorgeous and maintained the integrity of the song, it was far too down-tempo for prime-time or after-hours sets. However, it was Tracy's version (and that fact that she used the vocals & lyrics cut from the album edit) that sold CDs. If you have remix by Victor Calderone, it's mislabeled. Victor did not remix Planets.

8) Stevie Nicks - Mistress of My Fate [The Dealer] (acapella)
9) Fleetwood Mac - Landslide (Guitar Twang D.I.Y. acapella)
These two acapellas have been floating around a number of remixers looking for new tools to create tracks with. Paul Van Dyk has toyed with The Dealer. I don't know who extracted the Landslide D.I.Y. acapella, but it's not a sanctioned acapella. Many young remixers get their start crafting white label or bootleg mixes by extracting their own acapella tracks. Typically, they sound somewhat filtered, etc.

D.I.Y. stands for Do It Yourself. There are several ways to extract the vocal from a track, but the best way is THE PHASE CANCELLATION METHOD. It will not be a 100% perfect acapella in comparison to a sanctioned acapella, but if done properly the extracted acapella will be good enough for a remix project.

PCM: Get an instrumental of a song, invert the phase (sometimes called flipping), and mix it with the original.. If done right everything besides the vocal is canceled out. You can do this in any sequencer like cubase or acid.. The instrumental must be exactly the same time/pitch however. and mp3s might not work if they are badly encoded. Zoom right in to see the 2 waveforms next to each other (look for kick drum hits) and line them up. (I cut & pasted the last paragraph. I've seen this done a million times, but don't ask me to do it. I got a headache just reading about it.

I am always pushing the few Stevie acapella tracks I have (Blue Denim, Ghosts) on every remixer I know, if only to point out Stevie's untapped goldmine of passionate, ready for the club vocals. Some have bitten. But I really need more acapellas. They don't have to be complete songs. I have many fragments from Master Reels, etc. I'd really love to hear what all of you think. What songs would you like to hear remixed? I'm also thinking outside the box. Throwing a galloping backbeat behind If Anyone Falls or Talk to Me is too predictable and unnecessary. I can tell you that rising star DJ Ranny, who has several Billboard charting remixes, has been working on a non-commissioned Stevie remix. It's nowhere near finished, but it's a peak hour tribal track. Expect Tracy to leak Edge of Seventeen any day. I've been harassing her with comedic bits on her myspace page. She's holding off because Edge may get a physical CD release. It hasn't been decided yet. If you're in LA next Sunday, she'll be playing it at Scandal.

A few more:

Edge of Seventeen (Thunderous Olympian's Acid Rave-Up)
(Absolutely horrible, but it was popular in Scandanavian clubs.)

Fleetwood Mac - Tell Me Lies (AXC Remix)
Fleetwood Mac - Little Lies (Mario Ochoa vs. DJ Fist Remix)
Harry Peet vs. Fleetwood Mac - Little Lies (Original Mix)

Thanks so much
-Rick

Impressive set of music here. I have a lot of these but a lot I dont. Thank you so much. And Congrats on your good taste in switching over to Stevie. I CANNOT wait to hear the Edge remixes from Tracy Young. Have you heard them yet? Any reviews? Thanks again!!

John

[GoldDustOrphan]

I heard it via cellphone will Tracy was playing it, but I could distinquish it from all the ambient noise and screaming. Tracy had Giangi Cappis handle the engineering and mastering, so it's going to sound really good. A bunch of other guys are remixing it. So they'll be dragging their feet, like Warner always does, to release mixes and the less commerical remixes will get refused and then leaked by the remixers.

Stevie no longer relevant? The most heralded and influential DJs/producers/remixers in various dance genres (house, drum & base, electro clash, etc.) keep looking to her - and Fleetwood Mac - for inspiration and ideas. In Europe's underground scene her vernacular might be lost in the translation, but her sensibility is understood and emulated. Even in NY's drag scene, the queens don't approach Stevie as camp, but with tribute by singing live and dismissing lipsynch. If she's not relevant, who is? Okay, preaching to the converted. My first letter-to-the-editor defending Stevie was in 1986 when a Boston Globe music critic fertilized his concert review with fat jokes. Twenty-two years later and I still haven't moved on.

Yesterday I posted 20 remixed tracks. This morning I added another 28. I folded yesterday's links into the new batch. New links have an *.

For some variety, I included a dance cover of Rooms on Fire by Europa XL w/Natalie James. Remix by Almighty. Also of interest is High Contrast's drum & bass track, Days Go By, which was a huge hit in that genre (mostly overseas). It features a very healthy sample from Edge of Seventeen, including Stevie's voice. The title is ripped from the lyrics. It was a commercially-released single, but Stevie is not credited. There is also a music video on youtube.com. Look for Deep Dish's great remix of Go Your Own Way. There is also a dull white label vinyl remix of Sara.

where did you get your name from i like it?

[GoldDustOrphan]

Even though I haven't acted in years, I'm part of a theater company called The Gold Dust Orphans. One of my best friends, Ryan Landry, is the company's founder and driving creative force. Ryan and the Orphans have received national acclaim & awards for a very distinctive brand of comedy performed in Boston and Provincetown. Ryan's plays have been produced in LA, Seattle, Miami & New Orleans. Stevie happens to be our favorite and Ryan writes one Stevie mention (or obvious visual moment) into each show and only her music can be played while the audience is being seated. It's more subtle than it sounds. We became the Gold Dust Orphans when our first theater space was shut down by the Fire Dept, leaving us without a theater. Ryan has performed at Night of 1,000 Stevies. His friend founded the event.

[soul_drifter333]

I heard Tracy's set at a club in Atlanta. She played her new remix of Edge as the last song of the evening, by that time the pitch was so fast you couldn't even recognize it as being Stevie singing. I guess we'll have to wait to single comes out to really tell.
Thanks for these remixes!

[GoldDustOrphan]

If she was confined to a 4-hour set, I'm sure she had the pitch cranked up by six percent in the final hour, which will cause the distortion you experienced. Vocals always suffer in the final hour of a party.

[wildheart048]

Thanks again, GDO, for all these great remixes! I saw Pamela Stanley last summer in Rehoboth Beach and talked to her during her break, and Stevie's name came up (at it always seems to do! : ) anyway, when she came back from her break, she opened with Rhiannon and dedicated it to me...It was my 'landslide' moment...hee hee hee!!!

[GoldDustOrphan]

So far, these are most downloaded mixes. I'm surprised that Deep Dish's remix of Big Love has only been downloaded 11 times. It's one of the best remixes here.

[kathy1]

thanks for posting these i can't believe you have so much stuff.

[GoldDustOrphan]

I'm glad I can contribute to this site. I have downloaded some great tracks, especially from VivFox and Jazmen Flowers. During the mid-80s I bought those awful Uncirculated Rumors bootleg albums that had great tracks, but the quality was so bad the tracks were barely audible. To find high quality versions of Forrest of the Black Roses is like finally getting the pony I was promised at 13 years-old.
I am looking for feedback, positive and negative as well as requests. If a dance track is out there, I can find it.
Thank you so much.
-Rick
(Later today I'm going to scan and post my photos of FM from the Halloween night concert ('87) at the Boston Garden. My first time in the front row, but I could only sneak a few shots. These boards are making me very nostalgic.)

Hey Rick..

I'm very glad to have you here with us, and again, wanted to thank you for sharing all of your wonderful treasures with us!

[ginsu]

Thanks so much for posting these!! Hearing so many of these for the first time is a real treat! As for requests, I'd love to hear remixes for Fleetwood Mac's Peackeeper. Also, is there any indication there will be any more mixes on the way after Edge of Seventeen? Thanks again!

Thank you for the acknowledgement. I know what ya mean about those bad quality demos. I bought that album too. I keep it for the album covers but haven't played that awful vinyl in years. Keep downloading everything you can. Build your collection. As for me I want to share my entire collection with anybody out there in the world who wants it, free of charge. That's why I post here. It's nice to get thanked, it really is, but it's not required for you to download a song from here. I read all the time about how some fans computer has crashed and they ask us to help them re-build their collections. My heart goes out to them. So please take mine so if it ever happens to me maybe somebody out there will be kind enough to post it for me so I can have it again. OK I'm rambling but just wanted to say thank you once again to you Rick because YOUR downloads are very generous.

Below is the British 12-inch of Has Anyone Ever Written. My sister picked this up for me when she was in London in 1986. She surprised me with it. When I opened it up, I expected to see some kind of remix, but it was just he album cut. Still don't know why Modern issued a 12 inch.

Thanks so much for this treasure trove of goodies! I have most of the commercially available mixes on vinyl, so it's nice to finally get them in mp3 format.

I hear ya about the 12" singles. Those Brits can be kinda retarded when it comes to these maxi-singles. I remember, many years ago, picking up the maxi-single for Queen's song "Innuendo," because it was titled "Innuendo- Explosive Version." I thought, ooh, I wonder what this would be like. So I get it home, and it is identical to the album version... except they tack on a 20-second explosion sound at the end! Is it any wonder that music fans are so anti-record label?

[Richard B]

Thanks! There are some cool re-mixes here. I have a few not listed and I will try and post later, although they may have been posted here on The Ledge before, as this board is always in constant cycles of threads. I also just got a USB Turntable so I want to rip mp3's of the full vinyl TITN collection of Big Love, Little Lies, Seven Wonders and Family Man (circa 1987). With the latter having quite a few bonus beats and crazed mixes.

I do want to comment on Planets Of The Universe (Illicit Vocal Mix) which I find inferior to Tracy's version. Illicit (I have heard them remix other songs) tends to make remixes very gay, something you would hear at a white party. Not my cup of tea as I find it too "anthem."

[GoldDustOrphan]

I agree that Illicit's Vocal Club Remix is uninspired and frilly, but their Dub Mix is radically different. It's the mix DJs were actually playing. There's also white label pressing of "Music of the Universe," which merges Madonna's Music and Illicit's Vocal Dub of Planets. It doesn't utilize any of Stevie's vocals, but uses the keyboards.

I haven't posted any remixes in a while, so here is "Family Man."

I gave this one a separate post, but I wanted to also include it here for one-stop shopping.

So far, I've posted 76 Stevie Nicks/FM remixes in the "Steve Nicks Remix Project" thread and all the previous links are still good - via Mediafire.

Here are four unexpected remixes which maintain the integrity of the original compositions. GDW is particularly interesting because the remixer, Chicago's DJ Tim A, used a vocal from a live performance.

The other remixes are: Rooms on Fire, Maybe Love Will Change Your Mind and Seven Wonders.

All are 320 Kbps.

Wow! I love the illicit vocal mix...it's actually my favorite of the dance mixes (although I the ext. alb version and the ballad "demo" versions are my favorites) oh well...different strokes!

[GoldDustOrphan]

This was reported on elsewhere on the Ledge, but I thought I'd post an Mp3 of this really great track. It's not actually Stevie's voice, but Radiohead singer Thom Yorke's - manipulated to sound like Stevie's. Radiohead's album debut at number one a few weeks back and the band is on the cover of Rolling Stone.

Now, who was it that said Stevie is no longer relevant?

I really liked the remix of Umbrella. I do like that little artist Rihanna. I don't listen too much of today's music that much anymore, but I like her and I really like that song. It was pretty cool to hear "Stand Back" mixed in with that song.

[bellagypsy79]

In the 80's it was quite common to make 12inch singles as making 45's. It was just another way for record companies to make money. Too bad they don't sell too many singles today, that's why everyone has access to downloading music that you are paying for on the websites. Things are still kind of the same today as they were then the only difference is we use our computers to get those single songs we like other than going to the store and seeing them in the singles area, (like I used to). The record companies are still making money off of singles, they are just being sold online and people pay for them. I used to buy single cassette tapes and cd's when I was younger, and they were a little under 5.00 at the time, but now you can get one song downloaded on your computer for only .99. Times have changed alot. I miss those days.http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j294/nlhamby1979/remainingwhenallaregone.jpg

ATTACHMENT - I just found this photo in an old scrapbook and was compelled to scan. I had to fix her skin because the image on the other side (newsprint) was so strong it bled through. Does anyone have a higher quality version?

Well, Orphan, I must say that I'm really impressed with this collection and the hard work. You totally groove! ("rock" is inappropriate in this case:thumbsup:;))

I must say that all these clubthings don't rock my boat but when I read about this radiohead-thing I hit the dld-button immediately. I hate the overall sound-way too cold, but that vocal is freaking the hell out of me. So this is an official radiohead-production, or did some ReMixProducer play with it? And that artwork, did you make it or is it official? You made me very curious.

BTW, now I'm gonna search for the underwood-LB-collaboration. I'm still 100% positive that the tv-performance edited out Lindsey's solo. I so hope it's there on your version.

[GoldDustOrphan]

I made I the artwork because I thought it was funny. This is not a sanctioned Radiohead release, but they reportedly love it. Them Jeans is a very prolific LA-based DJ/remixer.

Coincidentally, Radiohead identify Fleetwood Mac as a major influence in the latest issue of Rolling Stone. Thom Yorke is on the cover.

Ah, I thought so, and that artwork IS funny. I know radiohead has high regards for FM. But that is -as far as I know-directed at the Peter Green era, or is there love for the LB/SN-era too....?

[GoldDustOrphan]

The attachment is from Rolling Stone's website.

You are correct - Thom Yorke says his manager first introduced him to FM via Peter Green, but there's an implication he's likes LB/SN era. I'll check out the tracklistings from is podcasts, because now I'm curious.

Of course, Rolling Stone has to use a Tusk-era Stevie photo with the item.

Where did you find Yorke's implication towards LB/SN? This fragment you posted quotes colin, the bassplayer-not Yorke....

[ginsu]

GoldDustOrphan,

I see the term "white label" quite a bit when discussing these remixes. What is that exactly, does it mean that it's an unofficial mix?

Also, who did the remix for "Go Insane"? I remember reading in the dance section of Billboard years ago that the remix was coming out and who did it, never saw the single in stores anywhere, which was dissapointing. I was out bad sick from school for a week back then, so my Mom went looking for a few remixes to kinda cheer me up and was told by the salesfolks at Record Bar that it had been canceled, figured thats why I never saw it in stores. (I used to really pick up a ton of 12" singles from Record Bar, they had one for $4.99 or three for $12.99)

If I might request two remixes, I'd love to hear the remix for "Peacekeeper" if you've got it(think it's called the Tin Tin Out Mix)and the House on the Hill Dub Version of "Big Love"(Arthur Baker is my favorite remixer ever!)

Lastly thanks again for posting these, I've enjoyed them very much!

ginsu

[GoldDustOrphan]

The official Go Insane remix was by Rusty Garner and it was only released in the Netherlands and Germany with Play in the Rain as a B-Side.
Slow Dancing was remixed by John "Jellybean" Benitez, which I've been unable to find.

I have posted two Arthur Baker remixes of Big Love (Extended Mix, Piano Dub), but not the "House on the Hill Dub." I am looking for it in my database. I have it, but the file is mislabeled. I'm doing a search for the Tin Tin Out remix of Peacekeeper, which was only released in the UK.

The term "white label" can indicate a number of things. Most assume that white label releases are essentially non-commissioned, unauthorized DJ remixes, but it's not always the case. Sometimes record labels issue white labels to promote a track with radio or club DJs, especially if they believe there will be a bias towards the artist. (Former porn queen Traci Lords first club track Control was white label, at first. Her name was not on it. It went to number one on the Billboard dance chart. Her label felt no one would take it seriously if they knew it was her.) Sometimes remixers produce white labels and distribute them to other DJs or record pools to get feedback before they license a pricey sample. Wikipedia has a great entry on white labels.

I attached images of a few white label FM releases. Both were unauthorized UK releases. I also attached an image of the official Go Insane 12 released in the Netherlands.

Here are three more Lindsey Buckingham remixes:

http://www.mediafire.com/?9n1gc12azhg

Lindsay Buckingham - Holiday Road (Mike Lupica Codeine Mix).mp3
http://www.mediafire.com/?czggbd2ky3h

(The Holiday Road remix is purposefully weird. The remixer was attempting to recreate a specific experience - Sitting outside a High-school auditorium, high on painkillers, while Holiday Road is being played at the dance. He got that weird auditorium echo down pat. It's a one-time listen.)

[GoldDustOrphan]

I began the Stevie Remix Project thread on Jan. 14. About an hour ago, the Mediafire folder had experienced 2,500 downloads. (It's had a total of 2,511. The Lindsey tracks I just posted put it over 2,500.)

There are currently 88 tracks available for download. Gold Dust Woman (Tim A.'s Remix), which was posted Jan. 29, has had the most downloads (112 total). He did an amazing job mastering it. I was surprised at the overall quality of the production work and the use of a live concert vocal. He's a working DJ, not an amateur.

In the past 24 hours, I also posted an Mp3 of Ryan Adams & Whiskeytown's cover of Dreams (20 downloads, but no comments. Does everyone hate it?

The Langley School Project's cover of Rhiannon. One comment from someone who has it, but 16 downloads. It's creepy, but I guess it's not worthy of discussion.

A 320kbps High Quality Mp3 of Lindsey & Carrie Underwood's performance of Go Your Own Way, which is getting many downloads, but only one or two comments.

Today, I posted a brand new remix of You Make Loving Fun (which is available for purchase in the UK). It's had dozens of downloads, but the thread hasn't received one comment. Does everyone hate it?

The Young Divas cover of I Can't Wait - U.S. release is next month - had 27 downloads and only one comment. I quess the message is, "thanks, but no thanks." :)

From now one, I think I'm only going to post Stevie remixes. Is that what everyone would prefer?

Stevie Nicks - Stand Back (Razormaid Remix)
http://www.mediafire.com/?6zedddydj0x

Razormaid! (a.k.a. Razormaid Productions) is/was a subscription based remix service for DJs which releases 12" records and CDs containing special remixes of songs by various artists. There are many fake Razormaid CDs, etc. on ebay. The company still issues its back catalog, but as soon as turntables, cd decks & mixing boards started outselling guitars, remix subscription companies became instant relics.

[ginsu]

GoldDustOrphan,

Ah, Rusty Garner, yeah I've got a few remixes done by him(Shena Easton, Corey Hart, Roxette). Thanks for the mixes and info on White Labels. Also, I liked the remix for Fleetwood Mac's "You Make Loving Fun" Plus, I think it would be nice to get remixes from Fleetwood Mac and all it's members(not just Stevie)in this thread, makes 'em easier to find :)

Saintbernard,

Thanks for posting the "Peacekeeper" remix, that sounds fantastic! Hope I'm not being a pain in the butt, but would you happen to know if there is a longer version out there? I know many times if it says 'radio mix', it's an edited, 'radio friendly' version of a longer mix.

Thanks again everyone for these mixes and the replies!

I'm not really sure if there is a longer version or if this is the only Tin Tin Out Peacekeeper mix there is. I downloaded that file a long time ago when the mix first started circulating and I never bothered to download any other files of it to see if there were any differences in length since I had this one. I have been downloading like an addict...and thanking you numerous time for the *fix*...

I like the Lindsey songs - and grabbed them when you posted in his forum. I just came back to this thread tonight and see that I am getting behind.

I am very much interested in commenting on the mixes, so please don't think that no comments, means I am not interested. It just means that I am slow...in every sense of the word.

You have gone very far in this world, without my suggestions, but if you will indulge me...my suggestion is to keep posting.... and put Stevie stuff here, and Lindsey stuff in his forum etc. etc. I am sure that the Lindsey people appreciate it too.

I promise you a PM to let you know my *feeble* reviews of the mixes...I am not as savvy as most of these people who are bonafide musicians...but I will give you some feedback.

As always, thanks for all your hard work and contributions....I am grateful.

Thanks St. Bernard for both. I hadn't heard that Slow Dancing even existed as a mix. Your contributions are greatly appreciated....

Here's one that I didn't see (listed by name). Could be a repeat of one of the other remixes of Little Lies.

Here are four more while we wait for the official Edge of Seventeen mixes, which my sources say will land in April. I know of five remixers who have delivered mixes (or will in the next few weeks) for approval.

Obviously, Tracy Young is one. I HATE doing the "i can't say," but I work quite a bit with the manager of two of the DJ/remixers and he asked me to zip it. If Ledgies would promise me on Stevie's most sacred shawl that they would not contact talent via email, myspace, etc., I will reveal the commissioned list. because this is Ms. Nicks we're talking about. So, if at least three Ledgies take charge and leave messages here assuring me they will keep the troops from ratting me out, I will post all the inside info I have. Greta knows we're not talking important trade secrets, but I just don't need more headaches from some of these people who in order to feel really important, provide unnecessary weight to the topics at hand.

This is what I can say...

There really aren't any big surprises, however there are a handful of DJs who are planning to submit uncommissioned mixes (through the appropriate channels) for potential approval. I can reveal that Ranny, a rising new star on the remix/DJ circuit, is waiting on his acapella and instrumental tracks. He extracted an acapella himself so he could begin developing a mix, but obviously requires an official acapella to maintain quality. (Look for Ranny's official mix of Donna Summer's new single I'm a Fire to land in a few weeks. It was approved by the label and Donna last week.) The Edge remix is just not a priority for the label, because dance music doesn't bring in cash. It's veiwed as promotional. It's probably going to be somewhat of an after-thought and lumped in with promo for her tour, Soundstage, etc. It's being positioned as a summer club anthem.

If it all falls apart, Tracy will leak her mix if she's formally told the project is off. She will be spinning here in Boston the first week of June and Ranny will actually be opening for her. He's from Brazil, but lives in Boston. Tracy is currently spinning Edge as her closing set track. I'm still waiting for her to hand over all the Planets acapellas, etc. She's a doll and I've known prior to her pro DJ career, but she barely remembers to bring her music to a gig, never mind my "Holy Grail" Planets tracks that she promised me for the last six years. All those unused, throwaway vocals, riffs and Stevie cries are just sitting alone in a box when they need to be loved by us. I'm going off on a rambling tangent, but I'm deadly serious when it comes Stevie's vocal ad-libs. Who isn't?

(If anyone is in Boston on Saturday, March 8, I will be at The Roxy. Producer/Remixer Tony Moran is spinning. I'll be in the DJ booth for most of the night.)

Thanks for the Stand Back mixes...very cool!

The DiscoTech is the Disconet Mix. Disconet was the name of the a remix service.

I posted the Disconet mix of I Can't Wait awhile back.

Thank you for checking in. It's appreciated.

[UndoingTheLaces]

Actually, GoldDustOrphan, we're not supposed to share commercially available recordings here and those B-52's mixes just hit iTunes. Not to be a narc but I don't want the board to get shut down or the owners to get in any trouble.

[GoldDustOrphan]

I don't remember posting the B-52's mixes? I don't see them. Was that post removed? Still, I'll watch what I post.

The Scissor Sisters have made their remix available as a Free Download from their website, which may or may not change its status.

[priestofnothing]

This is not one of the professionally commissioned Edge mixes, but it's a fun one I've run into recently:

Oops, sorry. Maybe I was mistaken. I guess if the Sissor Sisters have the link up it's okay. I just don't want to see them get hurt by people posting new stuff when it's just been released.

It's funny, because I'm on both sides of the coin on this subject. I love to trade and download rare FM and Stevie tracks but the thing is that while us fans trade all kinds of unreleased stuff, most of us own every CD, every Box set, every video or whatever we can find when we become fans, so we've done our part, so I guess it's okay. But where I work we have to keep very close watch over message boards and blogs for people who make our stuff available for free. We're a small company and it drives me crazy that we'll spend tons of time, effort and money to make a movie only to have some blogger put a link to it on their blog the day after it's released. Here we are thinking it's going to be a big boost for our company and people are stealing it already. So I get a little sensitive about this.

[Ledge Moderators]

Oops, sorry. Maybe I was mistaken.

No, you were correct. The B-52s mixes were posted and they were deleted. Thanks for being observant. We do want to make sure that no copyrighted music is shared here. It's great that everyone is so conscientious. Keeps the site out of trouble.:p

First of all, GDO, Thanks so much for sharing...I've been looking for those Everywhere mixes forever...however, a question....when I tried to dl them, the mediafire thing pops up and says "click to download " but when I do, it doesn't give me the option to save, or save as, it just goes right to downloading, and then I can't find them on the computer? I've tried system searches, but no luck? Did anyone else have this problem? I've used media fire before, and never had it happen?

Second...that is one AWESOME picture ya got there ; )

[GoldDustOrphan]

Right after you click to download does the following screen pop up? It gives the option of "Open With" or "Save to Disc." Some browsers attempt to open the file rather than save it.

[wildheart048]

No! That's what I usually get, but this time, no dice...it didn't open anything, it just started downloading them (i tried a couple of times with both Everywhere's...) I have no idea why??? Then (I think i said this already...) I did let it dl anyway, figuring I could find them through the search option, but they didn't show up (all of the live everywheres from every tour did show up, however ) weird stuff!!!

[GoldDustOrphan]

It might be a bug in Mediafire's system. I checked out Mediafire's FAQ, but found nothing.
The download link works properly from both my MAC and my PC, so I sent Mediafire an inquiry if certain browsers are problematic.
What browser are you using?

Does the House on The Hill Dub of "Big Love" have any extra Stevie vocals like the other two Arthur Baker remixes do? If so, can it please be posted?

Do the Deep Dish remixes of "Big Love" utilize the extra Stevie vocals?

I'm asking because downloading takes so long for me right now and I'd rather know beforehand if Stevie is on these remixes. Thanks for the info!

[Grinnygog]

I don't know how many of you love "I Can't Wait" - but it's one of my favorites. I was so excited that an extended version was included on ENCHANTED - but was slightly disappointed when I heard it. It just faded out at the end of the song, and didn't have the cool ending that the mix had on TIMESPACE. So I decided to create a COMPLETE version by taking the full ending of the TIMESPACE version and adding it to the "extended rock mix" from ENCHANTED. This makes it even longer, so I called it the "fully extended rock mix"!

I think it is MUCH better and the DEFINITIVE version of the song. I hope you guys agree. I thought I'd share it with everyone here since it is sort of a remix.

I'd like to request the 7-inch single remix of "Long Way To Go" if it does not break the guidelines here. If it does, I apologize.

Thanks Mike! I found the 'Long Way to Go' remix that I was looking for - but still no sign of 'Rooms on Fire'. Hopefully somebody will post it soon!

COuld someone re-post the Stevie/Donna Mashup of Bad Girls and Dreams?

I'd also love to hear the "Umbrella (Rihanna)" Mashup. Both links are not working.

Thanks!

I just bought a little DJ console that only plays audio files and it has 2 turntables and multiple effects and speeds so I can now mash up and 2 songs you guys chose! And it will get me motivated to actually learn how to use it since I have no DJ experience whatsoever. So please, request away! I can do remixes also.

What's Umbrella mashed with? I'd like to try this for my first one.

These are awesome but....the Rihanna one would be even more awesome if this person had slowed the beat down just a tad. I'm going to try this myself so it's not so "cluby" but I do like it a lot.

Guys I slowed this track down to the same bpm's as Stand Back. Can someone please dl and let me know what you think? It keeps saying it's a WAV file but I converted it to mp3 (thanks Jeff!) It's my first time ever doing something like this. Also, someone please make a request of a mash-up you'd like to hear. Thanks.

I could be senile but isn't there a really awesome version of "doing the best that I can" that is different from the album version. I can't remember if it was a 12" b side or something????

I thought it was from a video of a live TV performance from the UK but I could be wrong!!

[BigAl84]

There is the piano version taken from the OSOTM documentary but I also remember hearing a studio version that had a different mix.

[SapphireSister]

Can someone please pick 2 songs for a mash-up or 1 song for me to attempt to remix? I need a project for tonight.
