Anyone else love this movie?
Just saw it for the second time today, which is very rare for me. I just love it! It's funny, endearing and smart. The script just zips along, rarely getting bogged down and handling every situation in the film so well. It feels very real and down-to-earth and not at all preachy or cliche, which it easily could have been.
And that cast! Ellen Page! Michael Cera! Jason Bateman! Juno Dad! Allison Janney! Jason Bateman's getting the most of my love both for handling an interesting arc that could have been really lame if he were not so subtle and also because Michael Cera is practically jailbait so I must focus on him. But oh man, Paulie Bleeker makes me wish I was in high school again so I could fall in love with a boy like him! And Ellen Page as Juno just totally works it, making her character and situation very real and easy to relate to, and almost admire for her attitude. The chemistry between her and her best friend is perfect and almost enviable. Allison Janney and JK Simmons are brilliant in their roles as supportive and no-bs parents, almost everything out of their mouths made me either laugh or tear up. Fabulous!
If you haven't seen this yet, go!

It really was a great film. Being a teenager myself, its very easy to relate to. I found all the dry, witty humor especially great, and loved Juno's Step-Mother character. Very funny. Didn't you think Juno's best friend looked a little bit like Stevie?
The only thing I think could have improved the movie was including more on what happened to the adoptive mothers Husband. I can't remember his name, but he's damn funny.

I thought it was a pretty cute movie - and it certainly had its laugh-out-loud moments - but overall I found it to be a little undeserving of all the hype. It just didn't strike me as a <i>great</i> movie, only a good one.
Also, the music was absolutely HORRIBLE. I know it's meant to be quirky and original like the movie, but I had to fight a very strong urge to walk out during the opening credits because of it.

I'm not usually a fan of that type of music, but I found myself liking it in the context of the film. Of course, I didn't realize until I looked at the soundtrack yesterday that what I thought was different sections of one song is actually about five songs, four by the same person, and then one not. Oops!
I found Jason Bateman's character, Mark, very intriguing. I know a lot of people who are not sympathizing with Mark and even finding him a bit disturbing, but I just didn't. I saw a guy who didn't really realize what he was getting into, and what he was lacking, until Juno entered his life. And yeah, there is some other stuff going on there, but I can't exactly blame him for it and also, the script handles it in such a way that I don't think it's like an anvil over the head that that is what's going on. I, too, wish we had a little more closure with his character.

I think people are always too quick to jump to the wrong conclusion. I know a lot of people thought there might be some weird love triangle developing in the film, especially with Mark's interactions with Juno, but I really don't think he had any sexual desires with her. To me, it seemed more like Juno re-awakened his dreams of doing something more creative with his music and sort of reminded him of who he really was. He was interested in her because he could actually talk to her and they had a lot of things in common. He seemed like a guy trapped in a one-sided relationship who suddenly realizes that it doesn't have to be that way.
If you think about it, the personal belongings that we see of Mark's are his musical instruments, music collection, and his classic horror movies. What do we see that belongs to his wife? A pilates machine. Not exactly a match made in heaven.

Exactly! Thank you, that's pretty much exactly how I feel about him. He clearly liked Juno, and his comments of "you're so young" could be taken a number of ways, but he and Vanessa seemed to have so little in common that in the end, I think it was probably better for both of them that it ended the way it did.

It was cute, although I did feel there were some pretty normative messages hiddden behind the guise of "funkiness". Like Miss Vicki, a good enough movie but I'm also not really getting all the hype. I also loved the mom- I really respected the way her parents dealt with the situation and when the mom totally gave it to the ultrasound woman. Also, that dude was a putz- I understood him not wanting too live the whole suburban/family/perfect lifestyle, and am all about being true to our authentic selves, but he shouldn't have committed to something so huge knowing how much it meant to his wife if he was that unsure about it.
Good movie, good movie.

It's a beautiful movie, as soon as I saw it here in October at Rome Film festival it was clear it would have won an award. I'm sure it will go well to the Oscars, at least with the nominations. Diablo Cody is a fantastic screenplayer and in fact Spielberg hired her on the spot for his tv series.

truly, it's one of the most intelligent films that i've ever seen. witty, heartwarming and just incredibly enjoyable to watch. the acting is superb (ellen page is for sure one to watch). jason bateman and j.k. simmons were amazing -- i really enjoyed bateman being the lost husband of an incredibly controlling wife to garner's vanessa. it seemed as though he'd forgotten who he was until he met juno. echoing the sentiments of bucklind and missvicky...i didn't really see what was going on between them as sexual either -- i saw it as the realization that he could have what he wanted in life -- that it wasn't too late.
