Does anyone watch this show?

I just found it and love the insights this guy has. (Cesar Milan)

I wish I could find an episode on Jack Russell Terriers.

I watch this show a lot. I watch the episodes On Demand through my digital cable box. I have seen an episode on Jack Russell terriers, I believe. I called it "The War on Terrier."

Cesar's methods (or black magic) are entertaining to watch, but his shtick is impossible for just anyone to replicate. He obviously gives off some sort of personality vibe -- possibly a smell -- that signals dominance to dogs. If most of the rest of us tried to do what he does, we'd get our faces bitten off.

The one angle I don't like with Cesar is the psychosexual angle he bases everything on: training a dog becomes a psychotherapy session with the owner, the underlying premise being that the owner's own hangups are "creating" the behavioral problem in the dog.

Now, this might be true some of the time; but sometimes the dog is just fecked up!

I saw Cesar get bit/scratched 3 times with one dog this week....the dog drew blood even.

I was surprised. I thought El Magnifico was invincible.

Cesar got kinda mifted at a lady on this morning's episode when she questioned his tactics.

Did you see the episode on Gavin? The ATF dog who had been to Iraq and through two hurricanes? I didn't care much Gavin's female owner...and thought she was too Alpha Male....

I watch this show all the time, ever since I recently upgraded to digital cable. It looks & sounds great in HD! My dog even likes watching it too.:D I used some of his suggestions in training my puppy. But, there's no way I'd do what he does if my dog were aggressive, which mine isn't. It would be too dangerous. Cesar has a bit of a vibe that seems to intimidate dogs into submission. Still, he has some good ideas which have helped me with my dog.

Cesar's methods are somewhat similar to Werner Erhard's Landmark Forum (any other Forum attendees here?).

The "calm, assertive" that Cesar mentions is almost the equivalent of "centering" that is taught/preached in the Forum.

Yikes, The Forum is scary. So he brainwashes the dogs then?

I don't know what the Forum is/does...

I just want my Jack Russell to
...stop jumping up on me
...stop jumping up and biting my hand
...stop dumping in the house when he's after revenge
...and stop standing on my feet when I'm cooking supper.

Otherwise, he's not a bad dog. :wavey:

P.S. ChiliD -- did you made it to Colorado and out again between the snow and COLD???
