It's been more dead than usual here.
I miss the way it used to be.
Where are the trolls? Where are the heated political debates? Where is everyone at yanking eachothers chain??
I miss this place.

Dont be sad, get glad....! With...Gladlock?
Ermm...well anyway. Its that crazy time of year where everyone is running around like headless chickens i suppose. I find on my two days off during the week I'm doing nearly as much work as the other 5. I've gotten all my Christmas shopping done though! I spent more this year than I have in the last 3 combined. Ugh. Damn retailers.

Yeah, suppose you're right. I'm almost done with shopping. I'm only buying for my girls this year, so it's been a pretty relaxed year for me. Thank God.

Yeah I bought only for my family...cards for everyone else! I battled all odds and managed to get a wii for my sister (my brother and I went half-sies)....I had NO IDEA they were in such demand. I mean, people waiting in lines. The system has been out for a year now! Insanity.
I can see, after all these years, how this time of year turned my father into Clark Griswold! hahaha

For me, it's a matter of finding other things, namely hockey and Robert Pollard (Guided By Voices), that are here now. I actually get to hang out with these people on a regular basis. Hockey season last almost six months, and Bob has a new album coming out every few months. It's current, it's in the moment. I'm always looking forward to something that actually happens again and again.
It's everything that isn't happening with Fleetwood Mac. Fleetwood Mac fandom is a bit more abstract. I just find it hard to be sentimental over something that will never be what it once was even if the various principle members all got back together (regardless of incarnation, BTW). Fleetwood Mac is done. I've listened to all there is to hear, I've seen all there is to see, I've read (almost) everything there is to read (unless John, Christine, or whoever wants to write another book). I'm still a fan, but I really don't have the interest that I once had. The fact that they did NOTHING for their 40th anniversary tells me they don't care anymore. Why should I?
Plus, all of the dramatic crap that goes on with Fleetwood Mac, all of the healing/growing psychobabble, Stevie's drama queen-isms, etc., have all worn mightily thin on me. I don't care. I just want to see a rock show. Shut up and play, and if you're going to talk, make it entertaining. I'm a social worker. The last thing I want is to pay to watch somebody have a therapy session at a rock concert.
To give you an example of the difference of mentality, ten years ago, Fleetwood Mac basically copied the Eagles' formula for a reunion. Which is lame, if you think about it. To spend the better part of six to seven years highlighting the differences between the bands and to then suddenly copy them? Doesn't make sense. They should have axed the backing vocalists and extra musicians and just gone out as a five piece (not even Ray Lindsey). And, instead of giving a bunch of psychobabble, give a speech that would be worthy of being remembered! Something like Robert Pollard (who has put out two full lenght albums just of his stage banter). That speech would have been more like this: "A few years ago, the Eagles got back together. I guess Don and Glen are buddy-buddy again. F**K the Eagles. How is it possible for a band to suck so badly when it starts off with Bernie Leadon and ends with Joe Walsh? See, they had potential and blew it. We did a lot of blow and exceeded our potential. That's why we were all f**king each other. Hell, we felt bad for them and let them f**k Stevie, but even that didn't help. So, tonight, we're going to show you what a real rock concert is like. Oh, and while we don't openly hate each other anymore, we're not like best buddies, either. We're a rock band. We rock. As you can see, we didn't bring anybody else to the party. Why would we add anything what is already the greatest band in the world?" If they started acting like real rock musicians, then I might be more interested.

well, tbh, I think most people are still skeptic about the 1-strike-and-you're-out routine. That's problem number one.
problem number two is I feel so many people have been burned by other ledgies, that everyone is on the defense. I think everyone pretty well knows what i'm talking about. we're not this happy family anymore. not that we ever were. I mean...it was disfucntional. and it was f*cked up. and it was crazy. but at least, for the most part, everyone cared for each other. there's no connection anymore. we've lots that loving feeling. now it's gone.
gone.
gone.
woah.
I also hate that the ledge has come to this. I'm not going to sit here and say "oh it's the holidays, people are busy" because it sucked before the holidays.
I think a bulk of the main posters don't really visit here as much because of certain events that have played out over the course of the past year. Then seven wonders crashed and this place was flooded with wannabes who were ~timeless~ and ~wind children~ and I felt like the few people who were left were put off by that.
okay. i'll add the holidays. yeah, people are busy *cough cough*
add that to no activity with the band, and you have a pretty bleak situation.
I keep hoping that the place will liven up but it hasn't. I wish I knew a way to fix it because I love this place. i really do.
while we're at it, the ONE thread that actually had activity going on was the thread about the 2girls1cup. it was actually an interesting thread, even though the material was disgusting. But it's not like the video was posted. it's not like a link was posted. we were just discussing the video and the reactions around it and it got deleted. so idk  whatever.
and to touch on the one strike rule. if it weren't in place, i'd say what I think REALLY think happened to the ledge

True, but you can't have an exciting forum without at least a touch of controversy, and all controversy has been beaten out of this place. Also, you're exactly right, there are lots of rules but there has been no consistency in appyling them, which makes people edgy about saying anything that might be construed as out-of-turn. And btw, you're banned

I have to agree to some degree (don't fall over dead  )
To some (not all and not really me) -- the non FM related conversations that went on essentially after the last SN tour were not interesting. But, they were the only things going on at the time. Then came the whole horsemanity thing, which was funny, but rude and hurtful to some people. Then came the bloodletting of many long time members -- based on in the opinion of many, if not most and certainly me, a rather ridiculous one strike rule with no appeal. This certainly let a bad taste in my mouth and I certainly thought about leaving for good.
But, even having said all that, I think the real reason for the decline is there is nothing significant going on in Stevieland and/or FM. Let either of those two entities release a new record and/or hit the road again and things will liven up but quick and despite the shiitte in the first paragraph.

so that sounds like the people who tried to keep the place going (while fleetwood mac weren't doing anything ) are to blame because they weren't interesting to everyone. that doesn't really make sense to me - if something/someone aren't interesting to me then i should start something that would be interesting to me and hopefully others and not blame the folks who are participating in something that they obviously find interesting.
Then came the whole horsemanity thing, which was funny, but rude and hurtful to some people. i am glad you didn't leave and i agree with this timeline but i would submit that you left off a couple other factors. with the one strike rule in place you never know what can get one bant (nickel to jazzy) but here goes:
ethan made quite a splash when he got here and there was a large contingency of folks who didn't think that the mods did enough to persuade him to try to keep some of his more annoying habits (multiple threads on the same topic etc) in check (:wavey:). others didn't find ethan nearly as annoying as others and said "put him on ignore if you don't like him".
i know of longtime members who left here cos of the moderating at the time.
and they are still waiting for the change over of the mods to be completed.
But, even having said all that, I think the real reason for the decline is there is nothing significant going on in Stevieland and/or FM. Let either of those two entities release a new record and/or hit the road again and things will liven up but quick and despite the shiitte in the first paragraph.

I, too, like Carrie and her posse, whatever and whomever that includes. I am just saying that to given the feast of FM related activity since 1997, the last year has been drab. LB's tour was mildly interesting, but it failed to get the people not that interested in him interested in him, which IMO is sad because it was a great tour. So, the filler conversation has not been to everyone's liking. After all, the Ledge first is a FM related site. So, when that conv. goes, the chit chat board is not for everyone.
In the end, I think FM is fading away and ergo, so must this place.

I honestly don't know where to start, and it's probably not worth it to dredge it up at this point. What's done is done (at least I hope it's done). Suffice it to say, carrie & friends have gone a long way toward chasing quite a few people off the Ledge.
Carrie & Friends?!?! WTF? I thought it was Paula & Cronies?!?! :distress: Have I been dethroned?
Like what, pray tell?
I'm sure your negativity couldn't have helped.
I have to agree AND disagree. :wavey: Nothing NEW has happened in the past 4 years except Under the Skin. But until a few months ago, we've always talked about other stuff - news, current events, funny stuff, whatever. Chit Chat was always the busiest forum, which obviously has nothing to do with the band or its members.
It's just...different now. I think a lot of it has to do with the one strike rule, so ITA on that point. Many frequent posters are banned & others just don't bother coming around because it's so dead here. The horse's ass thing was the silliest incident ever, IMO, and many people were turned off by the fact that it became such a huge issue.
Chit Chat on The Ledge has become nothing but "happy birthday so & so" and picture threads. Sad - I used to enjoy fighting, I mean, debating with some of you. :D I tried a while ago to post a bunch of new threads to get people talking, but it went nowhere. So. What can you do?

When one of the remaining band members actually DOES something, this place'll liven up. Since 1995, this place has been like that...during long band droughts, this place drys up like an African savannah watering hole...then when the band decides to do something, it's like a monsoon of activity. We're on a big ebb right now.

Considering in the last 25 of the 40 year history of the band, they've spent more time NOT being Fleetwood Mac than they have been being Fleetwood Mac. So, in reality, the band doesn't care about being a band, then why should we keep investing so much time in them?
In thinking about it, I'VE seemingly invested more time in Fleetwood Mac than THEY have. That revelation kind of pisses me off.

Well, IMO, a lot of it has to do with the one strike rule. And the inconsistent moderating. And the subsequent bannings. It was a lot more interesting around here when people felt free to debate, disagree, and sometimes be nasty to each other:eek:.
Face it, people have different opinions, likes and dislikes. People have had varying experiences and lived unique lives. For everyone to agree on things is unnatural and boring.
I don't see what's wrong with people arguing or fighting with each other. So what? It's a message board. If you don't like it, or get offended, turn off the computer, come back later, whatever.
The topics in chit chat are listed in bold. If the topic doesn't appeal to you, don't open the thread. Pretty simple. Not everything is for everyone. Thank God. It'd be a pretty bleak existence if everyone was a bunch of clones.
There are people on here who annoy the **** out of me. There are people I find self-righteous. So? Why can't I tell them how I feel? I'm sure there are many people who don't like me, find me annoying, etc. They should be able to tell me. But everyone is afraid to say much of anything. In the real world we can tell people off all we want, or even punch them in the face. On a message board, the worst that could happen is that someone gets their feelings hurt. Grow up. Suck it up. Go cry and eat a gallon of ice cream to make yourself feel better. Or fight back.
It's more engaging when people can debate and disagree without having to worry about getting bant.

A "great" new Lindsey album -- that is subjective. I thought UTS was medicore at best. The tour was, however, great for what it was. But, if you were looking for a rocking LB (amd many were) - you were left wanting due to the acoustic nature of the set.
I thought La Nicks' GH record was cool in that she gave the voiceovers on her videos, included the symphony stuff, etc. Yes, a new rocord would have been great though. As for the tour, she got great reviews from the press and fans. So, what was lame about that, other than no new stuff was done

I am usure if people felt they could not debate people. I certainly did not. I think what you had was people like Tower deliberately baiting the mods. by deliberately cursing at and provoking people. I love Tower, think he is great, and miss him. I also think banning him was ridiculous given his contribution to this board over the years and my personal friendship with him. You and maybe a handful of other people. The album was good. Period.
So, you say. I know many who did not care for it and certainly its sales, or lack thereof, support that  But, you go on thinking everyone but a handful of people thought it was great (perhaps on the order of Michell's "Ladies of the Canyon") if that floats your boat.
On edit: I think it is okay not to like something LB did, esp. when he was pushing the envelope (kudos for that), as he did on this record. I still think he is a genius, etc. Interestingly, I faulted La Nicks for the mediocre stuff on TISL, which I thought has moments of brilliance, but was a 3/5 overall, mostly due to her refusal to use her voice in any meaningful way, though she does on a few songs.
. . . Even Stevie thought it lame. That was all the record company.
Where exactly did Stevie say it was lame? Please provide a cite to that. But, just to help you out, here's a quote from her indicating she did not think it was lame.
When she wasn’t visiting troops in recent months, Nicks was putting the finishing touches on a new combo CD/DVD, Reflections—The Best of Stevie Nicks, which includes 18 tracks, four of them live tracks, along with a 20-page booklet and a DVD containing all 12 videos she made. Those who purchase Reflections, which hit stores earlier this month, can also enjoy galleries of all of Nicks’ photo shoots through the years, and watch the dozen videos while listening to an audio track of her commentary.
“This is so cool. I’m so proud of it,” Nicks gushed over the retrospective CD/DVD that Warner Bros. Records put together. “This will be, I think, kind of a groundbreaking package.”

Obviously you don't even understand what the album, or Lindsey, is about if you bring up sales. I was just saying that based on my observations, there aren't many people that found the album to be bad or mediocre. And I'm talking about the hardcore fans that post here, which is exactly who I was referring to in my original post. I don't care about Shirley down the street, she doesn't post on The Ledge.
Where exactly did Stevie say it was lame? Please provide a cite to that. But, just to help you out, here's a quote from her indicating she did not think it was lame.OMG. Stevie will say Bush is cool if that is what people expect of her. I remember her initial comments regarding the TimeSpace album, and how she didn't want to put out a greatest hits album. She might not have used the word "LAME", but that's what it came down to. Those are all things record companies expect you to do, I don't think any artist ever jumps at the opportunity. I wasn't saying the Crystal Visions collection itself was lame, just the idea of another greatest hits collection in general.
I suggest you re read them.Oh, where is that scathing review someone posted around the start of the tour? I'll post it when I find it. Sure, there were positive reviews, but I wouldn't call them all raving, and there definitely some less than positive ones as well.

Stevie's GH was OK, but nothing most of us hadn't seen or heard before. Meh. Could have been better. I'm not trying to be negative, just truthful. I'm glad I got to see the tour, mainly because I finally got front row & some fantastic pics. :D If not for that, I wouldn't have been too thrilled. OK, so tell me why nobody debates ANYTHING anymore? Why don't we discuss politics or health care or the war? Sure, Mary's gone and Towie & RickyRy too. But I'm still here, you're here, Carrie's here, Amber's here, Jannie's here, Vanessa's here, Maria, Sparky, Suze, Sarah...... so what's up? I think people miscontrue LB as some sort of artist who eschews popularity. The evidence is solidly in my favor. Who can blame him? He lives a high life and has to pay for it  In the end, he wants to be different, but always runs back to The Mac to get the popularity injection - sticks the camera right into his arm - so to speak.

On the contrary, I give to La Nicks as well. In fact, I call it as I see it. I think her use of her voice is mostly pathetic at best. I also think she comes across as lazy at times. Having said that, she is still wildly popular and says she is artistically content, so she must be doing something right in her book if those are her goals
As for UTS - it may have been brilliant to some of the critics, but it was not well received and I, and many I know, did not care for the sound of it. If you liked it, great for you. I did not like it, though it had its moments of greatness. I just do not like that new voice he uses. Then again, I think he rather lost his larger voice years ago - parts of The Dance were just painful for me to watch; if others like it, so be it. Lest you think I am biased, La Nicks' voice pains me as well. My beef with her ius she still has her voice, but shows it rarely, R&R and CD are good examples of showing it. The current Dreams and Rhiannon are not - I am horrified by them at times.

I honestly don't know where to start, and it's probably not worth it to dredge it up at this point. What's done is done (at least I hope it's done). Suffice it to say, carrie & friends have gone a long way toward chasing quite a few people off the Ledge.
HA! I would think Carrie would've expected that comment from me. *wink*
If you want the truth, I've never felt ill towards anyone here. Its kinda like brothers and sisters that dont get along.
Sure, Liam gets on my nerves a lot, but then we can have civil posting between one another too. A few other people have gotten hot under the collar because of things I've said (or vice versa), and we've had our bouts. But I dont lose sleep over it. The intent (at least on my end) is never to offend, but just to get another point of view into the mix. We're ALL right in our own view you know?
Resorting to name calling has become the norm here and that's what I've grown tired of. It's like "oh I dont agree with you, you're a pretentious twit!" I would certainly never say anything like that to anyone's face, let alone in this place.
But, I can still come here, and have interesting conversation. I dont feel we have to dislike one another just because we think differently about important issues. We can spat, and have our little tiffs, and then we're right back to square one (like brothers and sisters that hate each other--haha)...we love Fleetwood Mac...which is what brought us all here in the first place.

Hm, no, not really. What I was trying to say is that it wasn't his intent in the first place. However much he would secretly want mass adolation (and really, I don't think that's the case), he didn't set out for it. He did exactly what he wanted with what's available to him and is very happy about that. By his own admission, I should add.
Lindsey should do more of what Stevie always did: collaborate with big names. If he works with Jack Black on the next one, his fans & the Black fans will buy his dickybird.
If LB hasn't got used to selling 50,000 units by now, he's in for a rough ride ahead into Old Age Canyon or Has-Been Butte or even the Valley of Geriatric Dementia.
I'm digging this thread! People are letting the tiniest tips of their rage & frustration show, & soon they will be letting it all hang out & we will have ACTIVITY once again on the Ledge. But we will still be doing battle with the server, which should have the marrow leached out of it to make soup with.

You're funny
Not funny - just honest. Although I liked the concept of Buckingham acoustic, the execution ended up disappointing and melodically unmemorable half of the time. I'll air the (unpopular?) opinion that Lindsey's golden ear for production has been somewhat tarnished for a while now. The echo effect combined with the vocal layering just didn't create a pleasing sonic space IMO. However, I give him major props for holding the artistic trump card of FM, as you said, and releasing the album he wanted without endless studio tinkering or concessions made to the record label. That, and the songs I had sonic qualms with cleaned up nicely onstage.
 Hilarious. Weird how it made Rolling Stone, Uncut Magazine's and other respected music magazine's top 50 albums of 2006.
I'd argue UTS wasn't his best work and that some of the reviews I read seemed more in the vein of giving an oft-neglected, underrated visionary his due after all these years. Ditto for many reviews of Stevie's shows, although the praise certainly reads more forced in her case.
Love the up to date music reference btw.
It was clear to me what he meant - a handful of people were hailing UTS as a masterwork like another masterwork in LOTC. With all due respect to Mr. Strand's youthful countenance, having had a couple siblings in his age orbit who were reasonably sophisticated etc. makes me feel the release date of Joni's LP is pretty irrelevant in the comparison.

Actually, I meant LOTC was timeless and generally if not universally considered great. UTS hold no such pedigree and likely never will. Again, I am not saying LB is not brilliant or that UTS was not an artistic triumph for him on a personal scale. I am just saying it was not "great" as I define that term; conversely LOTC was great and stands in sparse company - a paucity of equals if you will. Interestingly, Tusk, which was both great and mostly LB's brain child, stands in that inner circle of greatness

But, and to the point, if not you, then others refuted that their and your actions drove people away. I submit that the referenced post is an example of how people could be turned off from here.

If it is personal, then it should be in PM. Moreover, others have joined in the personal attack  But, I do not really care about that. What I am saying is it is possible for some absent long timers who are now lurkers who would like to post in this thread to be put off by that attacking mode. It could unintentionally dissuade those people from posting. In other words, they do not want to be attacked, mocked, etc. So, I say ignoring is the best option. See, this is what people are talking about. You have the right to say what you want. But, don't act surprised when people say this kind of thing drives people away
Note - I make no comment on the veracity of either party here. I comment solely on the antagonistic vibe of the post and the general comment made earlier by Markolas.
In the end, wouldn't it just be better to put Taken on ignore if he drives you that batty?
And see, this is what I don't get. If someone here tells someone else, who deserves it, to **** off, it has no effect on my posting in the thread. Hell, even if the person didn't deserve it, it still wouldn't deter me from going about my own business and posting whatever it was I wanted to add to the thread.
People having issues between themselves doesn't stifle my posting. Why would it? I don't see many "attacks" on here that aren't warranted, on some level. And if someone unjustly attacked me, I'd just tell them to **** off.
So, like I said earlier, I think people should be able to tell each other how they feel without fear of getting banned. I mean really, what's the worst that can happen? Someone gets their feelings hurt? Happens all the time.

and mike-i slept like a baby on benadryl. with sweet dreams to boot lol
i wanted to start a thread like this a long time ago. One so everyone could just get their frustrations out and go at it. i'm glad someone did, and i'm glad it hasn't been shut down yet.
I'm also thankful that most people have been able to keep their sense of humor. I mean, we have the major **** going on...and then...well. no pun intended...but a little comic relief is a good thing every now and then :) okay..as we were. let the bloodshed begin again

UTS is only a year old, how can you judge that? You say that UTS was not well received, well by who? And let's not talk record sales here, because Lindsey's albums have never been big sellers. I can provide countless reviews that praise UTS, it was well received by the critics and by his fanbase. I've only seen a few people here who didn't like it.

I suppose anecdotal evidence will have to suffice. I know people who left here solely because of the negativity I am talking about. If people leaving here is worth expressing feelings in an aggressive manner, then so be it. Personally, I likely would take the more inclusive route.
There are ways to tell people you disagree with them, they hurt your feelings, etc. without an all out flame war that likely will drive people away from the FM side of the boards

Steviefan49
12-07-2007, 11:47 AM
well, tbh, I think most people are still skeptic about the 1-strike-and-you're-out routine.
Not sure who the "timeless" and "wind children" comment was aimed to- about being "wannabees" - but certain people - starting with myself, have been fans of FM and Stevie many LONG years- before most people were even on this planet!
To add to this, I've been wanting to come onto the Ledge for YEARS, as I was too busy being on other boards and groups, which I still am, for MANY, MANY years- but decided to finally just do it! I've hung out and partied with Ledgies for YEARS- as Chris had mentioned.. but just finally decided to do it this past summer!
I, too agree that the 7 Wonders comings and goings had nothing to do with the Ledge, as it was here AGES before Brian ever thought about starting up 7 Wonders!
On the "OTHER SIDE OF THE MIRROR"- I'm very appreciative for all of the people who "DO" post now, and for people like Mark (Vivfox) who is wonderful enough to start threads regarding downloads of music!! Instead of being negative, and looking at the negative end of it all, why not appreciate who all is on here NOW, and enjoy what's going on? Sure- it may not be like it was long ago, shoot, nothing is- but I think there's a LOT more to be greatful for then negative about!! Meeeeeeeeeerry Christmas~!

i would say that it is somewhere in between for me. I freakin LOVE this album. Can drive around with it in the cd player for weeks. ;)
Time will decide though if I appreciate it more or less but i would put it up as an artistic masterpiece, which def. means it won't translate well to everyone's ears.
It is SO Lindsey, heart and soul, experimental, unexpected.
I think his songcrafting has come a long way since Law and Order (which i love as well - Hot tub, Hot tub) so it is very hard to compare them all.

Who here thinks that UTS is a Masterpiece as opposed to being great. I think it is neither. Again, I love LB, but UTS was not my cup of tea.You know, this has become quite ridiculous. I posted that HERE ON THE LEDGE no one seemed to have come out of the woodwork even when Lindsey put out a great album, which was considered GREAT by the majority of the people HERE ON THE LEDGE. Which is exactly what we were talking about in the first place, the fact that not many people post anymore, and someone said it was because the band wasn't doing anything. My entire post was an answer to that particular statement and referred only to the members HERE ON THE LEDGE.
You start talking about masterpieces, 'people you know', sales, reviews and compare it to other so-called masterpieces. It was all quite irrelevant. I get that you didn't like UTS. What's the big deal here?

It wasn't me who gave you the warning, though it was my idea to get rid of that thread (and it was unanimously agreed upon by the other mods and Michele). I have always appreciated your posts, but honestly thought that that one specific one was a little too sick and like it or not, there *are* people on this board who would find that offensive.

You mean Jack White? I can see the confusion. Two thoughts just came to mind...golf courses suck up valuable real estate, and 2) Jack White is overrated. I'd rather see Lindsey produce his own stuff.
Actually I was asking (since David wrote Jack Black) why the actor should want to collaborate with LB. But Even for Jack White I don't see why he should choose Lindsey to collaborate with. I don't see the challenge.

Where are the trolls? Where are the heated political debates? Where is everyone at yanking eachothers chain??
I miss this place.

My girls are wonderful! Thank you for asking... Sara is getting so big, and she's such a good kid. Samantha is giddy as hell because her mother allowed for her to get her first tattoo today... haha... and she got two. So did I. (I'll post pics) Anyhow, they're both doing really well in school. This is Sam's new one. It's been a year today since her grandfather passed, so this is for both her grandmother and grandfather.

i just have to say that i think it's really cool that you, samantha, and her mother have such a close relationship.
how long did it take for the tattoo artist to complete samantha's tattoo? i don't think i could sit for that long :distress:

Yeah, it is pretty cool. Did I ever think this would happen when my husband was alive? Not in a million years...
Sam's tattoo took about 2 hours. She did a great job, but got a little frustrated in the end. It's hard for her to sit that long.

I have a couple questions.
For warnings, does someone have to complain or do the mods just go through all the posts and find what they think deserves a warning?
Can we have a complete list of Mods?
Quite a few mods have stepped down and i saw in one of the threads that it still may say "moderator" or "super moderator" by their names for awhile.
I put this here since this is the thread that caused the suspension.

I think some people just need to get a grip and grow up a little. I never posted a link to the vid, nor did I ever describe the gory details.
Frankly, I get offended when people use the 'F' word in their posts, but I don't see that being addressed as yet.
I'm originally from NY (lived there 26 years). I'm pretty sure I understand the whole free speech thing. What I should have done, before deleting the thread was given an explanation, and I plan on doing that from now on. Once I get adjusted to the different thinking round these parts, that is.

People need to get over themselves... everyones always crying about how someone said something and offended someone else. WTF? Posting about poop.... everyone does it, why are you offended? Don't look at it if it's not your cup of tea... The "F" word... it's just a word. We didn't kill your grandma.

But no one made you Google it (if in fact, you did). I didn't even facilitate it by providing a link. Sure, watching it might be hard to swallow (so to speak) but no one had to. And it'd be much different if I posted a screen cap of it- in that case it would probably be justified in banning me or sending me a snarky warning.
Nope, I'm sorry. I'm not buying anyone's offendedness about this.

From what I can tell so far, it's a mixture of both. Normally it begins with a complaint or reported post from someone, but sometimes it can be something a mod stumbles across.

I was talking about Michele, the owner of the board. Listen, in the big scheme of things, is it really that big of a deal that this particular thread was removed? I appreciate that you didn't post the link, but for most people, curiosity would compel one to find it- I did it at work (like a dumbass)! I'm sorry that you feel so strongly about it. As I said in my earlier post, I will explain a deleted thread to everyone, rather than just deleting it.

You know what? I don't feel 'strongly' about a lezbo scat video. What I do feel strongly about is this notion that just even hinting that such a thing exists out there on the web will cause the chiffonhead flock to compulsively Google for it, as if they have no mind of their own.
Everybody knows how easy it is to find shocking material on the web, and guess what- those two crack-heads weren't the first two to ever be filmed in a situation as gross as that nor will they be the last. I think you and whoever else moderates this forum just merely called more attention to it. And like I said in my (unanswered) reply to your finger-waving warning to me, I dont' see you censoring anyone here when they pollute their posts with 'F' bombs.

People have been very strongly warned here lately for using profanities. You seem like you just want to argue with me and I don't get it. Move it to PM if you have anything else to say to me.

I think the profanity thing depends on what's going on and where it is used. I think it is so silly for someone to deliberately type tha ctual word when something like "fukc" gets the point across just as well. So, when someone actually spells out the word, they know the rules and that is that - they have no one to thank but themselves if they called out for it or banned. If they want to curse, then they need to get their own board with their own rules
