This blog contains the link to this pretty song. You can definately hear Christine singing on it. It sounds like a song that could have been on Behind The Mask. It would be great if one of our members can make an mp3 of this for all of us.

retroDan: and how in the world were you able to get Jon “Mr. Mountains come out of the sky and they stand there!” Anderson to agree to sing on a Christian album?

Brent: He sang it because…it was there! He was there. We were there. The same thing happened on “Can’t Feel the Pain”. When I wrote the melody for that song, I swear that I was thinking of Christine McVie. When we were recording the song, Fleetwood Mac was in the next room mixing- they had a lot of time on their hands, as it basically took them two week to do. Christine popped her head in when I was listening back and said, “What is that? It’s lovely.” And I said it’s meant for you to sing on, and she did. The same thing happened with Jon Anderson. I had always thought of his voice for The Only Thing I Need and by a God-sized coincidence, there he was. He saw absolutely no irony in the whole thing- Mr. New Age singing on a Christian record. Some Christian radio stations, however, were less forgiving that an ‘infidel’ had sang on a Christian record. The nerve of us! This was one of the many little cuts that drove me from the business.
Listen to Can’t Feel the Pain from Brent’s 1990 solo debut album.

Chris sings great harmony, in part because her non-intrusive voice services the song rather than the other way around, and in part because that voice--however controlled--is still distinctive. Thanks for this.

She's great because her voice kind of fills a gap and makes what is hollow or tinny sound fuller. Lindsey said that she worked well with them, because he and Stevie tend to be nasal and her voice adds warmth.

I think of The Chain and if I tried to isolate her part in my head as if her voice was a separate track, I couldn't do that. My ear couldn't define it independently. But then when you hear the song without her vocal, you certainly know that it's missing. Michele

You've just described perfectly how I feel about Say You Will

Thats pretty cool. I wish Lindsey had done more vocals with other people. I love the little harmonies he did on Tom Petty's "Walls".

I know what you mean. However, in the live versions of that song, her harmonies are very distinct and detectable as a part. It's her part, in fact, which gives the harmonies that strange, irresistible dissonance.

One of the things I liked about Lindsey's performance of The Chain with Little Big Town is that I felt that Christine's part of the song was reinserted back into the harmonies.

Actually, when Lindsey did it for the OOTC tour, he tried to recreate her part as well. But for the SYW tour version of The Chain, it was missing.

On a track like Sentimental Lady, I think that Christine's voice actually makes the song and Easy to Fall too.
